My first published Rayman Art :)

Hello Pirate Community :).
I am The Little One, new around here and this my first topic :D
As the subject says i show here 2 of my rayman drawings. One based on rayman series (without Hoodlum Havoc) and the other one based on Rayman Origins.
Both were made out of my memory so it isn't "perfect" and may have some failures. I know they are a little 'diferent' but as i said they were also made by pure memory (although "The Great Escape" Rayman had some help)
I decided to make them in a A4 paper with my own hands and i hope communty like. They are also avaiable at DeviantART so, as a newcomer to the world of art i have just 4 drawings published (as LBPlombax user name). Feel free to critique and give any sugestions

Wow, you made your sketchies very well. ;) Rayman on the first image looks cool, though i think the upper Teensy in the second image is the best! :D

First off, your art resembles Haruka's style so much that I'm not sure why that hadn't been mentioned yet. :mryellow:

It's hard for me to say for certain, but did you trace certain parts of the drawings? Some of the poses/angles resemble the official renders very closely.

Whoosh, I said resemblance twice. It seems a bit difficult to critique the sketches since the strengths and flaws between them are very inconsistent - what you didn't do so well in one you did perfectly in another, what you did great in one you didn't do so well in the other. It's hard to say.

If I had to give one piece of critique though, it would be the perspective. For example, if you look at R2's right hair strand, the perspective at where it curves doesn't properly give the "curving" effect, the back of R1's forward-facing shoe has the same apparent width as the front, regardless of the fact that it's further away from the viewpoint, and RO's left hand is kinda funky.

But that's nothing that can't be improved with practice! Just make sure you're aware of your strengths and weaknesses.

Do you think so? I don't find it similar.

Look at R2 in this picture:

I think it resembles your style quite prominently. It probably wasn't intentional, but the relation exists.

I normally don't draw the hair with the "thickness" of the 3D model. The body, I do it a little more "rectilineal" and the shoes aren't exactly oval shaped. The behind part of the shoes is lower than the front part in my drawings.

Thank's :D ! Yes, i'll try to improve better results next time. Don't forget that this is my first time, so i'm kinda a newbie :P . Yeah, after a while i saw that "hair curving", and i though to myself that i need to improve that .
And about the question "did you trace certain parts of the drawings?" well, it wasn't intentional but now i look at the drawing, they have some similaries with official one but i can grant you i did not folow any picture or video to do that. Meaby i got inspiration in Origins Intro, but i just did the characters and the expressions came out. While i was drawing, i just tried to make them the most exaggerated possible and there they are.And R1 looks VERY similar to an official and i just keep asking to me how did i made an random look and after all it was already made. Still confused :confus: about that...
I think for my first drawing it isn't bad at all :proud: .
Well, i don't want to be insistent but, when you mean "perfectly", and "great" in the sketches, you refer to what? i'm just curious :mryellow: . i like to know my weaknesses, to improve them next time, but i would like to know the strengths :)

Well, what about now? Coloured design this time. 2 drawing´s inspired on walking shell :mryellow: . One is an attempt to a shell at 'Origins Style' and another represent's the Rayman 2 style. Hope i have improved at least 0,5 % better :P

Oh, the walking shell is perfect! These came across much better than your previous ones. Again though, perspective is the main issue. His eyes in the first picture look as if they're facing forward, and his body and shoes at the back look a little too wide.

Yes i realy need to improve that. Now i look to them, the shoes aren't giving the '3D' perspective i wanted.and the eye's too. Another thing to the improve list :P !

I agree with Rulez completely, your drawings of the Walking Shells are amazing ^^
On the Origins styled drawing, I especially like how you drew those little lines in front of the Shell as if it's "piercing" the air. Attention to detail, I like it. ;)

I wanted to transmit to the people the same thing Rayman was feeling - an walk at full speed :D . Also, i guess that dust and the plant's can also feel it :mryellow:

It's funny how such a concept originated from the discovery of the sonic boom and the way the hydrocone forms around said fast moving object.

What do you mean? The consequences of the speed, like the piercing or the dust?

The dust, which is actually water.
