Rayman: Your Way

If you could make anything happen to the Rayman series or change something about its past and you don't work with Ubisoft Montipeller's creative team and don't have a time machine, then this is the topic for you, at least you can talk about it.

I would really like to see a game based off rayfan's (not me) 'Piranha.' Rayman fanfictioners probably know about it (it's the one with hundreds of reviews and praise). Rayman's planet is taken over by a giant invade robot army ship even more menacing than Razorbeard's, and Rayman gives himself in on condition everyone else is set free. His personality changes over his prison time on the ship after his maid makes him a new pair of black clothes, turning him into the one known as 'Piranh.' He eventually becomes First Mate to the revered Anaconda (the captain), and they conquer planet after planet. Piranha, is just letting things flow by as such, losing his sense of right and wrong, finding more and more out about the ship until he can finally find a spot to act. Rayman's powers have been stripped and he becomes a swordmaster.

Gameplay? I could almost consider it Grand Theft Auto (mission/sandbox style) meets Assassin's Creed (combat/sandbox style) meets Rayman 2 (platforming and mechanics style). Throughout the game he would even revive his powers, managing to defeat them in the end.

Who knows? Maybe since Razorbeard escaped, Anaconda could actually be the very same Razorbeard. It would make an excellent game in my opinion. One where you actually spend most of the game in the now metalicised Prison Ship, and the return of Razorbeard.

'Tis a fanfic, you read it.
Rayfan is saying that she would like to see a game based off this fanfic, and has gone into some detail explaining it.

It did make me chuckle for a moment.
I would like to see a Rayman game where the oppositions invasion hasn't concluded, and instead, they are warring against the inhabitants of the Glade.
They'd have areas and you'd have areas.
You'd have to fight, infiltrate and platform and retake the Glade.

I'll just think about the more artistic details of what kind of game I'd like to see. I kind of want it to be 3D because usually I feel like there's not enough 3D platformers with combat also playing a large amount. I saw them alot in the PS1 - PS2 days. But also giving it some 2D elements, for example, hand-drawn 2D animated cutscenes. Maybe some games should be 3D, then some 2D. Origins' and Legends' art style in my opinion is pretty and hilarious at the same time, Ren & Stimpy esque art is what I love the most. So yeah, 3D but with lots of 2D cartoon elements.

2D cutscenes? I like the idea.

More/better comedy.
Edit: I could also go for more of a story which inspires the player.

I'd have a game with Rayman 2 and 3's platforming, some of 3's combat mechanics, a mild choice system and Andre's the villain. His plans have already started, but his success depends on the Glade's inhabitants, and Rayman (aka the player) especially.

How'd he return? Nobody's too sure. Perhaps the Lividstones abused a Lum to the point of corruption. Its a mystery, but what's clear is that Andre is at large again and has a massive swarm of Dark Lums to do his bidding. Andre's been capturing inhabitants; some have been locked in cages, but the others have faced a nightmarish end. The Dark Lum Lord has engulfed entire settlements in what's been called a Lum Storm. Victims have been deconstructed--torn apart Lum by Lum in Andre's swarms; afterwards the Dark Lums scatter and there's always no survivors. Its not until Rayman gets engulfed in this when we learn that only he can survive it, and what happens to those who are consumed. He gets deconstructed like the rest, brought to Andre's stronghold and then reconstructed, unlike the others. Here, Rayman is locked away to be used as a source of rare Lums. The amount of Silver Lums Rayman has makes him a big target for Andre, who has plans for each type of Lum.

Each time Rayman gets consumed by a Lum Storm, he'll have to escape Andre's prison on his own, and doing so gets more difficult each time. By getting captured, Rayman is giving Andre the power to succeed. He's been building up his army from all the Lums he's ripped out of the Lum Storm victims, and converting them to dark Lums, but he reaches a dilemma when encountering different types of Lums. As Andre is a Dark Red Lum, he can't naturally convert other types. But thanks to the Silver Lums (which can be found in Rayman), he gets the power to transfer his negative energy to another type thus creating a new kind of Dark Lum. And that new Dark Yellow/Green/Purple/Whatever Lum can convert Lums of its kind, like Andre can with Red Lums. The massive amount of energy Andre gains for a transfer is hard for him to contain, and can only do it once per capture. By getting captured, you're indirectly creating new types of enemies who improve Andre's army and increase the likelihood of your friends being captured. The less help you have, in addition to the new enemies can make the story very difficult.

Some of Rayman's friends will be imprisoned from the start, others as the story progress, and some based on how often Rayman gets captured. Its up to Rayman to save them, as Rayman will need a lot of help. Since he's a Lum, Andre is naturally a part of the building blocks of life in Rayman's universe. Because he's corrupted, his desires are twisted and he's the equivalent of cancer. What I'd plan to have Andre do in this story, is try to reinvent the Glade of Dreams and eventually the worlds beyond it, by converting every Lum of every kind, then restart life.

Andre's soldiers wouldn't be Hoodlums or anything like them. They'd be new forms of life, created from a mixture of different Lums, like the characters in Rayman's universe.

Very interesting, but wouldn't that be the third game in which André has been the antagonist?

Lel, good luck with that. If things ever do get real for you though, I can definitely help you out.

Yes, either third or fourth, seeing as the first was Rayman 3, and he for sure appeared in Hoodlum's Revenge (no I didn't make a spelling mistake bitches, it's the name), but it's not certain if he's the one in Rayman 3 GBA.
