sports & games

Post by hilphina »

What is the best video console for sports games? For many years I had a PS2 and played basketball, baseball, football (Madden), soccer, hockey and fight games on it. A few months ago I got rid of it. Now I need to get another system, as I am bored and so are my kids. They want a Wii, but I suspect that sports games and Wiis don't mix too well.....what is better, PS3 or 360? Or is there yet another alternative?

PS3, definetly. It comes with the PlayStation Move and a free game called Sports Champions. It includes these 6 sports, Disc Golf, Gladiator Duel, Archery, Beach Volleyball, Bocce and Table Tennis. I have that game. I am an expert player in all the sports in the game. There is other sports games. Just like Tiger Woods Golf, Baseball and other sports games. You should check it out

There aren't any big differences between the gaming experience on X360 and PS3. Just buy whichever system you think has the most comfortable controller. In my opinion, the X360 controller is better, but that might be because I have quite large hands.

I can completely relate to this. I can't stand any sort of PlayStation controller, as my hands are pretty massive; I much prefer the X360 one (the X360 one also has a better, more solid architectural design). I actual remember that picture of you making a peace sign, and I swear, your hands are the exact same as mine.

Though which is better for sports games? Nether really. Neither console is really better at anything unless you want to get technical. But I do believe the X360 does have more sports games than the PS3. The PS3 has a lot, but they're usually the more gimmicky type.

I'm aware. Didn't know you were describing the sport games as gimmicky or rather the ps3's whole library as it, sorry.
Most sports games imo on our current gen consoles are often always gimmicky

Not really, in fact, some of the best sports games have been made recently (the last sports game uprising was around the brilliant 2002-2004 era). PlayStation just usually receives more of the B-grade sports games.

To be honest I'm not much of a sports gamer, excluding the Mario ones, I guess every mascot eventually has to get his own sports game.

Aha I know you aren't, and neither am I. The only 'sports' games I like are Mario Golf (N64), Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour (GC), and Mario Tennis: Power Tour (GBA). NHL 2012 was also fantastic, though I'm not much into it.

By the way Rayfist, have you ever played Power Tour? It's absolutely fantastic, and I think it's one of the best games on the GBA.

I prefer the Mario Sports games.

I think my favourites so far are Mario Strikers Charged Football and Mario Power Tennis for GameCube.

My hands are bigger than yours and I have never had any problem with a PlayStation controller. You must be doing something wrong.

The Xbox controller is also fine, but I could never remember which buttons were X, Y, A and B. It always seemed that the layout deviated from those of the PlayStation and Nintendo controllers just for the sake of it.

I 100% agree with Spiral, my mind seems to remember shapes much better than those buttons. I often forget which is which, but this could possibly just be because I grew up with a ps1.

I like the ergonomy of the DualShock3 but my hands are relatively small. I'm 1,60m.

I am probably the only one that thinks the PS3 is better.

And likewise, I can never remember the shapes, and letters make far more sense to me. I mean, even saying them sounds a bit awkward: "Press cross! Press triangle!" it just seems odd. I much prefer the letters, as I grew up with Nintendo which also uses the letter scheme.

Hand size? Well perhaps for the sake of it, we can give a measure that isn't through facepalms. Regardless though, my hands get really uncomfortable and tired trying to hold the PlayStation controller with the two sticks way at the bottom. It just feels so small compared to the X360 controller.

Will you shut the hell up? This isn't a competition, we're just comparing why we prefer each controller. And no, about 90% of the Pirate-Community prefers the PlayStation, I can guarantee you that much.

Yeah! I guess it's just what we grew up with and what comes to mind more often.

HOW DARE YOU LEAVE OUT THE MOTHER FRANCHISE!? Nah but I'm only kidding, you know how much of a mother fanatic I am. :P

The only thing that really bothers me about the Xbox controller is the position of the sticks. Makes it pretty awkward when it comes to the position of the thumbs.

Ray502, it isn't wise to make such statements, not without a little bit of homework.
You'll notice that a few members here, like myself, have PSN sigs.
That certainly would show some support for Sony, right?

I find the Xbox controller awkward too, but I guess it could just be due to the fact I grew up on Sony consoles and had gotten used to the DualShock layout.
