That one game everyone loves but you hate

Since my last topic was borderline catastrophic i decided to try a new one, so yeah basically what the subject says

I'll start off, mine is Dark Chronicle/ dark cloud 2. Extremely overrated in my opinion, i found the characters annoying and generally unlikable and the voice acting made me cringe. The story was meh though the music was pretty decent. the environments were so bland and monotonous; I was expecting jaw dropping beauty and variety as seen in Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. Though the graphics were quite well done, the cel shaded style couldn't hold a candle to Windwaker, sly or dragon quest 8. Enemies were also repetitive and the combat was pretty average. There were also too many over complicated and tedious things such as "inventing" which i personally didn't give a ship about. So yeah, anyone wanna share there's?

Left 4 Dead, Dead Space 2, Portal 1, GTA: San Andreas, Super Meat Boy.
Those are just a few that come to mind, and there's probably a lot more.

This is easy for me: Almost every Sonic game.
Although I'm a platformer gamer and a fan of the genre, Sonic never caught my attention. I really don't like his games, and it is already a luck that I can minimally play the classical trilogy of Sonic, probably his best games ever.
@RayFan I also hate GTA. High five?

Ah yes, I can't stand Sonic. That's another one. High Five Haruka!
I love GTA though, in fact, GTA IV I rank as one of my three favourite games of all time. But GTA: San Andreas, while being a pretty good game, I think is one of the most overrated games of all time. Everyone seems to praise it so much, but I don't get it. Sure you can fly a tank and crash planes into buildings, but it feels so incredibly fake when compared to GTA IV; Knocking over a stack of papers in IV feels more satisfying than any epic explosion caused by anything in SA. I just think "what is the point?"

I see what you mean, but yes I don't like Sonic at all and I don't understand why it is so praised either. I think Sonic games play too much "alone". I'm talking about the speed it achieves some seconds later, in a way I have no idea where I am going and what I'm doing, it even makes me dizzy. The characters aren't charming at all for me, I would say the majority being useless. Another thing I think, is that SEGA loves to waste money by releasing mediocre titles full of glitches and cheesy music and voice casts. Seriously SEGA, a werehog? Someone in Sonic Team Japan is a fan of Twilight. Sonic isn't really my kind of game: I have way more better alternatives like Croc, Rayman, Mario, Oddworld and Crash Bandicoot.

Indeed, those are my exact reasons as well. Sonic himself is a very original design, but everyone else either feels like a clone and/or a stereotype. The game just feels like speeddoigthingsspeeddoigthings with absolutely no depth whatsoever. It's a shame too, seeing as they could have done a whole lot more than they're doing.

I agree on Sonic actually and in a sense with SA. Firstly I dont totally hate the sonic series, I enjoyed adventure 2 to an extent and the classics are alright but what really grinds my gears is the annoying, furfamily that is the sonic fanbase. Also all titles I have played in recent years suck, unleashed was a joke and Colors which apparantly was meant to be good kinda sucked imo. never liked Sonics characters never will, they are all like that annoying group of kids you see at school who are all hyper and you want to stop at nothing to avoid them, which is basically their fanbase too. In my opinion Gta 4 blew SA out the water, better story, characters and the realism is what made it so good. Though I like the variety in SA such as fitness, planes and varied enviroments which were absent in IV, V will basically be a combination of the 2 with more so i cant wait for that. The constant "yo nigga wassup homie" in SA got annoying a bit too fast, felt like making a certain costume out of my bedsheets at one point....just kidding

after sonic adventure 2 ,the sonic series became a piece of shit(not including sonic generations and sonic colors,i heard they are good),and sonic is known to have one of the worst fanbases ever,o and i got to admit,GTA:SA is great but its not the best in my opinion, mine is vice city cuz i like the atmosphere.
a game i hate but everyone likes is,well, all the dacing games, you know dance central, dance dance revolution and etc,oh and i dont like amnesia cuz everyone thinks its the scariest game ever, which is a lie,its scary but after some hours of gameplay, neh

I don't like Mario. To me, the universe is a total non sense delirium, and I found this charater uncharismatic and the gameplay boring.

I'm not really sure why I've been a little fond of sonic. I liked Sonic Adventure 2 on the dreamcast but up to that point the games lost it's charm. It could just be because my dad pretty much for no reason lent me his genesis with sonic 1 when I was like 3

. Making it so I grew up with it.
Here's one I should probably talk about, I don't "hate" this game, nor do I "dislike" it, it's a decent game in fact, but it's fanbase is seriously insane so my hype quickly died out for the game. Kingdom hearts. Yes, don't get me wrong I liked Kingdom hearts to an extent but what I don't understand is why everybody say's its the BEST game ever, it really was just an alright game to me, nothing to obsess over though.

You too, Rayfist?

I also am not quite a fan of Kingdom Hearts.
I tried the games before and I'm not saying they are bad, but RPGs are quite limited to me for Pokémon and Mario and for some reason I can't see the crossover of FF plus Disney characters.

even though i fucking love rpgs, the final fantasy series was good but then after 6,it became a piece of shit in many ways(yes i didnt liked 7,i found it mediocre, this includes its characters),oh and for some reason,i dont like mario so much neither,because....i actually dont know how to explain, but i think that because all the mario games excluding some, are basically all the same thing, only with a little more of stuff,oh and a game series that i hate with passion is call of duty series, its generic, boring, easy, and its full of 5 year old retards,i miss the time when fps games were great and kickass (the only fps games like that of today are team fortress 2 and halo, even though halo have the heath regenarator and only able to carry 2 guns problem,it still have some challenge and originality).

There's quite a few games I could list here, but I'd say the most prevalent ones are Mario and Sonic. I tend to take a disliking to games that lack substance (and I'm trying my absolute hardest not to insult any Mario or Sonic fans)...

I'd definitely have to say the newer Mario games. Even though the original 90's sidescrollers quite lacked substance, everything did at that time, so it's excusable. The only thing Mario-related I really care about seeing (or I even want to exist for that matter) in the future is a new, original 3D platformer. But then again, what's not to be done? We started out with classic environments brought to 3D, then we moved to a tropical paradise with volcanoes and hotels, and then we moved to jumping through galaxies.

I'm more sticked to the retro Mario games than the nowadays games, NSMB2 isn't interesting me a lot at the moment.
I would rather prefer to play Paper Mario 2.
