I didnt find any thread about Sonic, so i just thought why not.
So yes, a thread to talk about Sonic games.
I have 2 Sonic games, Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic Heroes which i enjoy a lot. I havent played the new Sonic games since 2006, the main reason for that is that they stopped making PC versions since Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 and then i hadnt any consoles. But when i saw the reviews of the newest games, it didnt matter much. Now that i have consoles i would be able to check out Unleashed for example, but i dunno. Maybe.
I think Sega should make in some point Sonic Adventure 3.

Sonic is not my cup of tea but I think the only games that are ok are the original ones for Mega Drive.

I didn't play a lot of Sonic Games. I only played Shadow, but I wasn't very fond of the gameplay. Sonic starts to run slooooow and then steps up so fast that I didn't manage to succeed in getting the tempo of this character.

I have the same issue when i play again Adventure DX or Heroes after long breaks, but i always get used to the boost of the games after a while.
My favorite characters in the series are Tails and Tikal. My favorite enemy is maybe Chaos.

I don't like Sonic the Hedgehog, however if presented with a game, console and a controller in an empty room, then I would most likely play it.

Man, this is one complicated issue. I genuinely like original games, and find recent ones to be underrated by critics, but still it seems like the creators of games do not understand why players like certain games and do not like other ones, so they build on wrong elements. The way Sega is handled doesn't help.

Well, I was hoping 3Dguy would bump this when I locked his Sonic thread, but seeing as that's not the case, I'll do the honours.
that3Dguy wrote:Title speaks for itself. Talk about Sonic and his WHOLE cast of characters and games here.
With all that said, What do you all think about Sonic upcoming game, "Sonic Lost Word"
I personally think it looks pretty promising, looks more like a sequel to sonic colors though. (Still waiting on Sonic Adventure 3 and Sonic Heroes 2.)
Y'know, personally, I'm impressed, I know some have been screaming "Galaxy rip-off," while others feel it's an evolution of the design of the ill-fated X-treme, but regardless, it look extremely promising, it's odd to see Sonic is going through another gameplay shift, but perhaps, after the high point of Generations, Lost World is trying to bring the best of both the 3D and 2D formulas to create a new formula to work with, and the fact that the style is more akin to the Genesis style and reins in the fact that Sonic is best left with a more colourful and cartoony world is a huge bonus in my opinion.

Thanks Master for reviving this thread, I seriously can't wait to try out Lost Worlds on launch!

Credit to 3DGuy also, if it wasn't for his thread, I wouldn't have bumped this one.
Either ways, this does seem like a good incentive for me to get a 3DS, I'm still wary of the Wii U at the moment, but the 3DS is looking like a healthy transaction.

It comes out pretty soon, you sure you'll be able to get it?
I'm mostly excited for the release of Wind Waker HD October 4th

New Japanese trailer (Probably leaked or something) shows more of the antagonists of Lost World. I must say that they seem very likeable. Both threatening and funny at the same time.

It is decided!
I am playing this game on Japanese. I like how Sonic games always include dual audio
Also, added to favourites.

Haha those characters seem quite out of place, as if they're doing some random crossover with some unrelated cartoon, like when Scooby Doo did that weird crossover with Batman and Robin. The game looks pretty damn cool though, however I thought unleashed was pretty lame and haven't been able to get into colours. Saying that though, i'm actually pretty interested in this!

Glad this topic is open. I really want Sonic Lost World. I want it more than Super Mario 3d World, and for Sega, That's an achievement. I've NEVER preferred a Sonic game over a Mario game, at least until now.

Yeah, it's kind of silly. Some people state that they belong to Rayman Origins more than Sonic The Hedgehog. I don't know, I think those designs are more creative than, let's say, all of the Sonic recolors we had to deal with.

Unleashed is mediocre at it's best. Even the day segments that everyone praises are very flawed. Sonic Colours in the other hand, it is amazing. Maybe it has the clumsiest narrative in the entire series, but at least the gameplay is pretty cool and actually challenging, instead of just "boost to win".

On your japanese Wii U?
Haruka wrote:Sonic is not my cup of tea but I think the only games that are ok are the original ones for Mega Drive.
And it shouldn't. You don't seem the "Gotta Go Fast!" type of gamer. As far as I know, you prefer exploration, challenge and immersive worlds; Something that Sonic has lacked for years with his turbospeed. HOWEVER... If I were you I would check the reviews for this one then try it. This is the first time in years that a Sonic game tries to be a fully realized platformer. And no... Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is just an uninspired nostalgic bait, this thing is pretty new.

I still don't know will I buy Japanese Wii U or European Wii U, but every European Sonic game had Japanese Language included in options.
I will also get 3DS version of the game and probably before Wii U version.

Oh yeah, you're right.. in the American version of Sonic Colors you can switch to japanese too.
3DS version of Sonic Lost World has been terribly criticized for its clunky controls and uninspired level design, though. If I were you I would go for the Wii U version first then save up for another game.

Wait... seriously? It actually looked pretty decent for a handheld version, I'll wait for the reviews. Of course the Wii U version looks a LOT better.

If thats the case, I will wait for reviews too. Wii U version will be the superior one without a doubt.

Sonic Generations is a good game. I should get it for my PS3 as well and maybe try out Sonic Unleashed. I watched all cutseens together of Sonic Unleashed and I must admit it's pretty damn good, maybe better than Sonic Generations. I defenitally should try to acquire it somewhere.
