Has anyone else heard of this game? It was going to be for the N64, but was cancelled in favor of Bad Fur Day because the critics bashed it for being too cute. Here is some leaked footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6ceNFV2yz4
Is that Mr. Dark at 00:34?

Ah yes I remember hearing about Conker Twelve Tales, I find it funny how a game as cute and innocent as this evolved into a rated M game. What happened?

Like I said, critics happened.

Some may have heard about this game, and I have. Don't remember much about the concept though, other than Conker's girlfriend, Barry (jk Berri) looking different and less slutty.

The game looked so innocent back then...
Then critics came and were like "durrrr this is too kiddy" so they made it an M-rated game.
Wtf?

Good decision.

Thinking about it, at the time, Rare has both DK and Banjo under their belt, going for something a little unexpected was a rather risky but clever move.

I got recommended to try that game but I don't think I would like it because of the dark humour.
I believe the only thing I know in the game is the existance of a poo monster boss with his own song.

Bad Fur Day is a good game, although the humor may turn some people away. I wish they released both Twelve Tales and Bad Fur Day, though.

Well yeah, critics bashed the game saying Rare is making another kiddy and family friendly game. So Rare decided to re-create the whole game for a mature audience. Twelve Tales those look really colorful and sorta fun, but I really enjoyed CBFD.

It's been a long time ago, but I am one of the few who has heard about this game before BFD. DUe to the fact that I was young, I thought it actually came out and I wanted it SO bad!.....Okay. Here's the story;
I got another amazing game called Diddy Kong: Racing(If you know that game, you're digging me and have a good interest in Nintendo 64 games), and my favorite character just so happen to be this adorable, little red squirrel, Conker. I also had interest in Banjo. So, one day I randomly got on the internet and came to IGN and found out about the Banjo-Kazooie series (Amazing series. Still loving it.). I eventually thought they did the same for Conker so I searched him up too. I was too hyped to look at Twelve Tales before I even noticed Bad Fur Day was even listed. I saw the info, I was hyped, I thought it was released, I WANTED IT. Unfortunately, I shortly noticed that there was a huge caption in red next to it that read "CANCELLED". That was the big "NOOOOOO~!" moment. I mean, since I enjoyed Donkey Kong 64 (AKA the first ever Rare game I played and fell in love with.), I know I would definitely like Conker's Twelve Tales. And sooner or later I found out about the violent Conker's Bad Fur Day and I found out the hard way I really shouldn't be looking at it...
So anyhow, I really wish they came out with Twelve Tales and it's a shame they didn't. I would have bought it and still play it today if it weren't cancelled. Don't get wrong. Bad Fur Day is still a blast but I'm more of a peaceful than violent person when it comes to "certain" games.
*HUFF* Okay. I'm done. Good-bye.

Oh cuz you know, it's totally normal for a six year old to be looking at an M rated game with blood and drinking and cussing and sexual themes and squirrels. XP

Probably. No one is the same. Also, at the time when I was barely full of knowledge, I got shocked and disturbed pretty easily. XP

It would be cool to try this, though the N64 version of Conker's BFD is in my top five games of all time (mainly for the It's War world).
Haruka wrote:I got recommended to try that game but I don't think I would like it because of the dark humour.
Yeah, I'm not sure you would like it, because there is a lot of sexual/bodily humor in it that you may or may not like. (I find it funny, personally.) I think the game itself is actually pretty fun, though. I like the context-sensitive B-pads because they keep changing the style of playing, so the game never really seems repetitive. My favorite boss is actually the vampire (Count Batula) you encounter later on in the game, not the Great Mighty Poo.

Rumor has it that they got the idea for BFD when employees of Rare got drunk one night and some one recorded the events on paper. Than the strange, disturbed idea was made into their next game Twelve Tales was officially scrapped when it was 60%ish complete.
BTW, if any of you all are curious, here is probably the most seen from Twelve Tales:

Anyways, I really liked Conker, and I wish Twelve Tales gets XBLA release. Too bad Rare is not what it used to be.

Dark humour? The humour is what makes it worth playing, I recommend it for any platforming fans, because it IS that. This title you shouldn't let up, it's a game that truly stands out in the 3D platforming market.

Oh my fucking God am I tired of hearing that. Not specifically targeted to you, but to all these people who keep whining about Rare. Yeah, I'd like to see another Banjo Kazooie, sure, but please, how long are people gonna go on about it? Rareware is done. Nintendo isn't going to buy the company and bring the old team together because Grant Kirkhope would like it.
Microsoft doesn't give a shit about its history. They haven't shown any sign of interest in resurrecting any of these old games, and even if they did it wouldn't even come close to living up to people's expectations. We can endlessly dream about all these games that are never going to exist, or appreciate that the ones we love do.
