The '''Grimace''' is Rayman's initial line of defence, which he has been able to do right from the beginning in the original ''[[Rayman 1|Rayman]]''. It's where he basically makes a funny face by holding his mouth wide open with his hands, used to scare enemies that are in his way and cannot defeat yet. This is sometimes replaced with other temporary powers he later gets in the game, such as the Magic Seed, but it is permanently replaced by running at a late point in the game.

In ''[[Rayman 2]]'' and the Gameboy Advance version of Rayman 3, Rayman only pulls this off has something to do while he is being left idle.

In ''[[Rayman 3]]'' however, he is bestowed this power by [[Gumsi]] after defeating [[Reflux]] in the Desert of the Knaaren, which he uses to convert [[Black Lum|Black Lums]] back to [[Red Lum|Red Lums]] by scaring them after defeating a [[Hoodlum]]. It is known as the Power of the Leptys in this game.

The '''Helicopter''' is one of Rayman's many magical powers, where he can use his oddly-styled hair as a propeller so that he can glide back onto the ground with precision. At certain points in the series he was also able to fly with it, though this upgrade was only temporary for whatever reason. This power is one of his signature abilities, appearing in all three major Rayman platformers.

==History==
===[[Rayman 1]]===
Rayman first receives this power from [[Betilla the Fairy]] after passing through [[Allegro Presto]]. With it, he is able to reach platforms which were previously unreachable. By the time he reaches [[Mr. Stone's Peaks]], his helicopter is temporarily upgraded to the Super-Helicopter, which would allow him to fly through the level until he reached the end of it, thanks to the potion the [[Musician]] gives him.

===[[Rayman 2]]===
Even though Rayman loses most of his powers at the beginning of [[Rayman 2]], his Helicopter remains, being as useful as ever. When he goes [[Beneath the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava]], [[Ly]] appears before him and gives him a [[Silver Lum]], which upgrades his Helicopter. Unfortunately at the end of the level, he loses this upgrade to [[Foutch]], who thumps him. In [[Rayman Revolution]] this was partially restored, meaning that he could permanently fly only over pools of lava.

===Rayman 3 (GBA)===
In the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, Rayman receives the power to fly with his Helicopter so long as he consumed a Blue Lum - small ones would let him fly for a little while, whereas large ones allowed him to fly until the end of the level.

A '''plum''' is an oversized fruit that is found throughout the [[Rayman]] series. It is purple in colour, and grows at a very fast rate. It can be knocked down from a tree, and used to stand on while it floats through swamps and rivers of lava. It can also be used to be thrown onto posts, allowing Rayman to reach places he couldn't, and he can throw them at enemies as well. Notably, this is the only item aside from cages that has appeared in all three major Rayman platformers.
