The Crow's Nest is the final level in Rayman 2: The Great Escape, where Rayman finally takes on Admiral Razorbeard and attempts to save Globox.

Phase 1
Situated at the highest point of the Buccaneer, the Grolgoth is prepared, and Razorbeard gets ready for Rayman to arrive while using Globox, who is being hung upside down, as live bait. Rayman eventually arrives, and is subsequently shot by one of the Grolgoth's bombs, though both Rayman and Globox survive the shot.

The first phase of the final fight begins, with the Grolgoth shooting bombs which trip it up if Rayman shoots and knocks them back at it, and attempts to squash Rayman, as well as shooting energy from its feet. After it is knocked down three times, Razorbeard attempts to take a giant jump and crush Rayman, but he misses and causes the floor to cave in. Rayman then falls with them.

Phase 2
Far away from the Buccaneer, Ly the Fairy hears Rayman screaming for dear life, and sends a Silver Lum to his location which saves him from falling into lava. The Lum catches him and gently guides him to safety, where he finds a flying shell. An image of Ly then appears to tell him about how the Robo-Pirates are now defeated and encourages him to defeat Razorbeard.

Rayman then turns around to see that Razorbeard and the Grolgoth are still alive, and the second phase of the battle begins. In a room full of lava, his Grolgoth keeps itself away from the lava by holding itself up on two wooden posts and attacks by shooting heat seeking missiles as the battle goes on. Rayman attacks by finding an energy sphere in either of two tunnels, and shoots at each arm, causing the Grolgoth to fall in the lava. Eventually, Razorbeard abandons the Grolgoth and escapes, setting a five-second time bomb that explodes the entire Buccaneer with Rayman still in it. After that eberybody is at Polokus's Place and thinked Rayman is dead, but suddenly Rayman comes back alive and everyone is happy. And for Razorbeard, he was going find a job. The only job is fouded is to be tamer at Rigatoni's circus.

The Bayou is a location from Rayman 2: The Great Escape and its remakes Rayman DS and Rayman 2: Revolution. The Bayou is one of the longer levels in the game, and in many ways is similar to the later Precipice level.

Description
The murky bayou is a river flowing through the Marshlands assumably flowing to or out of the Marshes of Awakening. Surrounding the swamp is an intensely dense forest. The waters are haunted by Zombie Chickens.

Rickety bridges make the bayou difficult to cross; just a few steps on them can make them collapse into the piranha-infested waters. Occasionally, barrels float down the river. These barrels may be used as makeshift boats.

One tree in the swamp in particular resembles a demon, complete with flame-lit eyes.

As a Level
Bzzit Captured
(note: the following is Revolution only)
Following Rayman's triumph in rescuing Ly the Fairy, the Teensie in the Minisaurus Plains Teensie Circle tells Rayman that one of Polokus' masks may be found on the Lost Island; however, Bzzit, the ferryman to the Lost Island, has been captured. Rayman sets out to the Marshlands to rescue the boatman.

He's Arrived at the Swamp
The level begins with a cinematic involving a conversation between Admiral Razorbeard and his lackey. The lackey informs Razorbeard that Rayman has arrived at the swamp. Admiral Razorbeard chomps down on a Yellow Lum (a Red Lum in the PS version), lowering the Yellow Lum maximum to 999 (it stays 800 in the PS version). He then orders Rayman to be stopped. The scene ends with warships dropping down from the Buccaneer.

Barrel Riding
Rayman arrives at the bayou, either from the Marshlands (Revolution) or from the Marshes of Awakening (Rayman 2). As he passes through some trees (Revolution) or through a portal (Rayman 2), a Warship descends from the sky and prepares to bombard Rayman. Rayman, unable to swim through the green Cajun waters, hops aboard a barrel floating in the water. The barrel begins to float down the river at the same time that the warship begins releasing bombs.

Shooting the bombs to avoid their explosions, Rayman arrives at a small bit of bare land. From here he hops aboard another barrel, and floats down more of the river until he reaches the bottom of a canyon. The warship is unable to reach him here and leaves.

After doing battle with a Robo-Pirate, Rayman finds himself swinging onto another barrel via Purple Lum. However, the waterfall he begins floating towards is haunted by Zombie Chickens, which rise from the murk and attack. Beyond the phantoms, Rayman leaps onto a log and oversees another warship flying above the bayou.

Bombardment on the Bridges
Rayman flutters down to a wooden bridge, but the warship immediately fires a cannonball. Rayman dodges the cannonball quickly, but the bridge plummets into the water. Rayman rushes across bridge after bridge, and finally delves into a small cave.

Bzzit and the Flamethrower
(note: the following is Revolution only)
As Rayman walks out from the cave, he finds himself at a clearing. On the side of a cliff is a prison similar to Ly's from the Fairy's Glade. However, this time it holds a Moskito look-alike, Bzzit. Bzzit warns Rayman of an ambush, and soon Robo-Pirates parachute down to attack. Rayman fights them off, but is quickly met with a new challenge.

A Yellow Robo-Pirate rises from the ground and begins firing its nasty balls of fire at Rayman. This is the strongest Robo-Pirate Rayman has fought yet, but in the end he succeeds. Bzzit cheers for Rayman, and then tells him to meet him at the pier in the Minisaurus Plains. Rayman nods, and pushes onward.

The Demon Tree
Following more trials evading warships on rickety bridges, Rayman arrives at the next segment of the bayou. Rayman must scale the sides of giant trees while dodging s being rolled into the river. At the end of the trail is a great cliff towering over the swamp. In the distance stands a demonic tree with firey eyes and a grand mouth. By pressing a switch, a bridge extends allowing Rayman the distance he needs to reach a Purple Lum.

The lum sends him swinging into the tree's mouth, only to lead to an encounter with the invincible Ape Pirate. Rayman must either evade the Ape Pirate or send it too its doom, but either way he arrives at a booby trap-filled corridor. By pressing a Time Switch, Rayman is able to unbar the exit and evade the pendulums blocking the way.

At the end of the corridor, Rayman escapes out of the tree and arrives at a pipe of sorts. Here he releases a Teensie and ends the level.

Revolution Return Trip
In Revolution, it is impossible to acquire all of the bayou's Yellow Lums on the first visit. The cliff overlooking the demon tree holds a Dry Bulb. After completing the Pirate Mines, Rayman may use the Rain Dance to revitalize the bulb and access the otherwise inaccessible remaining Lums.

Side Quest
In all versions other than Revolution, there is a small altar near the entrance to the Bayou. If Rayman has enough lums, Ly the Fairy will grant him access to the Walk of Life level.

The Lost Island is a location from Rayman 2: The Great Escape, Rayman 2: Revolution, and Rayman DS. It was unnamed in Rayman 2 and Rayman DS, but was given the name "Lost Island" in Revolution. It appears in all versions other than the PS version of Rayman 2, in which it is replaced by Whale Bay. It possibly may not be an island outside of Revolution but rather a mountain range.

Description
The Lost Island is a lonely, hidden island known to almost nobody. Even those who know of it seldom know how to get to the Lost Island, and so require the help of Bzzit, the ferryman who takes people to the Lost Island from the pier near the Minisaurus Plains.

The Lost Island is a small landmass with bare, lifeless mountains surrounded by a calm and quiet beach. The caves inside the Lost Island house pools of water, which in turn have underwater tunnels leading to secret grottoes. Despite the lack of life on the surface, these pools are full of aquatic plant life and coral. The beaches have very little to offer, though crabs and birds sometimes visit the sandy shores and palm trees provide some shade.

If one is quiet, one may hear the bells of a sacred structure hidden deep in the island's mountains. The Lost Island secretly houses the ruins of the Sanctuary of Water and Ice behind an impervious blue wall.

Following Admiral Razorbeard's acquisition of the Glade of Dreams, Robo-Pirates constructed two small forts on the left and right sides of the Sanctuary Wall. Though it may be speculated that these forts were made to guard the sanctuary or to house robot miners trying to access the sanctuary, no game makes any hint at the purpose of the forts.

Very little of the Island is traversed in the games, and so little more is known of the islet.

As a Level
The Lost Island is the first half of the Sanctuary of Water and Ice level. In Rayman 2 and Rayman DS, its connection to the previous level is vague and makes little sense. However, the island itself remains the same in every appearance it makes.

Entering the Sanctuary
Rayman begins his nighttime adventure at a lonely, unoccupied dock. The dock ends at a small beach. As Rayman approaches a trail leading up the side of a mountain, he is attacked by a Blue Robo-Pirate. Rayman does not have to defeat the Robo-Pirate to continue, though most players generally will defeat it. Rayman then enters a cave at the top of the trail and discovers a pool of water near a rope ladder. By diving into the pool and swimming through an underwater tunnel, Rayman encounters a secret grotto holding a cage (again, this is optional). Returning to the cave, Rayman ascends the rope ladder and exits the cave.

Descending a wooden staircase, Rayman arrives at a larger beach. He is ambushed by a Red Robo-Pirate, but easily defeats it. Upon examining the sealed fort right of a large blue wall, Rayman discovers a Keg and blows the fort's door open. Inside, Murfy shows Rayman a Yellow Magic Sphere and explains how to use it. Rayman then carries the sphere to its Yellow Pedestal, grabs another Keg, and investigates the sealed fort left of the blue wall. This fort houses a Blue Magic Sphere, and Rayman brings it to the Blue Pedestal (the order in which the spheres are acquired is optional).

The blue wall rumbles and opens, revealing a small tunnel delving into another mountain. At the other end of the tunnel is the entrance to the Sanctuary of Water and Ice.
Parachuting Pirates (name is a conjecture based on appearance) are a special variety of Henchman 800 unique to Rayman 2: Revolution. In many parts of the game, Henchman 800 of various ranks (most commonly green and purple ranks) will parachute down from the sky or from a warship to attack Rayman in numbers. The first instance of parachuting Robo-Pirates is in the final area of the Fairy's Glade, where they attack Rayman as he rises through the air currents.

Parachuting Pirate battles are treated as some sort of "major battles" and in most cases Rayman is required to defeat every wave of Robo-Pirates to continue. Twice, however, these ambushes are treated as full-thrown mini-boss battles: once in the Bayou (when Rayman finds Bzzit) and near the end of the Canopy (during Rayman's battle against the warship). The appearance of sky-borne pirates is always marked by a special, somewhat dramatic battle theme that plays until all the pirates have been defeated.

Whale Bay is a location from Rayman 2: The Great Escape and Rayman 2: Revolution. It is one of the levels where importance varied greatly between the different game versions, especially if comparing the PlayStation version of Rayman 2: The Great Escape, Revolution, and Rayman DS (to represent the other versions).

Description
Whale Bay is a calm bay located near Skull Cave, the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire, and possibly the Looming Sea. The bay takes much resemblance to the Lost Island, another aquatic level from the same game. Birds will occasionally flock in the bay to feed on fish and crabs. Carmen the Whale frequently makes trips to the bay, hence its name.

Following Admiral Razorbeard's invasion of the Glade of Dreams, the Robo-Pirate Army assigned Whale Bay as the location of one of their major strongholds. The main purpose of the Whale Bay Fortress was primarily to hold Carmen the Whale captive--the Robo-Pirates planned to use Carmen's blubber for fuel. The fortress lacks many interesting features, though it does have one or two aquariums.

Whale Bay appears to have been a battlefield in Admiral Razorbeard's campaign, or at least was a battlefield at one point in history; many locations in the bay have wrecked ships and submarines, some still running.

The caves under the bay are home to many different animals, and despite Whale Bay being one of the few levels in Rayman 2 where swimming is possible (as opposed to Piranha-infested waters), Piranhas lurk in the caves.

The Sanctuary of Water and Ice in Rayman 2 is located near Whale Bay, though this is later discredited in Revolution.

As a Level
Whale Bay is the first level in the game to feature Barrel Pirates--however, fighting these powerful enemies is avoidable.

The first half of Whale Bay takes place in the Whale Bay Fortress, with Rayman attempting to locate the prison where Carmen the Whale is being held. In some versions of the game, one area in particular has respawning Robo-Pirates, making for some interesting challenges.

The second half of Whale Bay revolves around the lake itself, and Rayman's attempts to free Carmen the Whale. After Carmen is freed, Rayman must follow Carmen into the extensive underwater cave network of Whale Bay, using Carmen's bubbles for air (considering the Piranhas don't reach them first). Carmen leads Rayman to a secret grotto, where the remains of a submarine mark the way for escape. In most versions of Rayman 2, the level closes with Rayman exitting a beached ship, sliding down a watery slope, and evading an Ape Pirate.

PlayStation Version
In the PS version of Rayman 2: The Great Escape, Whale Bay follows the Bayou level instead of the Canopy. The level is notably more difficult than in any other version, requiring the player to battle many camoflauged Barrel Pirates where in other versions the player would have just had to journey through respawning pirates and not have to fight any Barrel Pirates.

Carmen's journey is also majorly different, to a story-changing degree. Instead of taking Rayman to a grounded ship, Carmen takes Rayman to the Sanctuary of Water and Ice--in fact, Whale Bay replaces the Sanctuary in the Hall of Doors. This replacement is slightly ironic; the PS version of the actual sanctuary is actually more like the other sanctuary levels than the other versions.

As such, the boss of Whale Bay in the PS version is Axel, the Guardian of the Sanctuary of Water and Ice. Whale Bay's rendition is also unique in that it is the only appearance of Axel's to have dialogue.

Rayman 2: Revolution Version
Revolution adds a connection between the Canopy and Whale Bay levels, compared to the odd linear connection in the other versions. In Revolution, Rayman must rescue Globox from the Canopy; otherwise, one of the Baby Globoxes will not help Rayman elude the Robo-Pirates guarding the entrance to Whale Bay. Rayman in addition profits from rescuing Carmen--Carmen then devours the thorny root blocking the entrance to the nearby Sanctuary of Stone and Fire.
Globox is a major character who first appeared in Rayman 2: The Great Escape. He lives near the Canopy in an area aptly named Globox's House, as seen in Rayman 2: Revolution. In most games, he is portrayed as Rayman's best friend.

Appearance
Globox resembles a large obese amphibian with webbed feet and long thin arms, his lower body resembles a penguin (especially in rayman 3) and he walks with a penguin like waddle. In his debut he is green-blue in colour with a pale yellow belly and hands, though in his later appearances he comes more blue in colour.

Biography
Globox was originally called Globber, a name which he passed down to one of his children before changing his name. He has a very large family, and together with his wife Uglette they have produced over 650 children, most of which are male.

Roles in the Games
Rayman 2: The Great Escape
In his first appearance, Globox plays the role of a general sidekick. Following his capture and being thrown into the same cell as Rayman on the Prison Ship, he gives him a Silver Lum from Ly to break out. After taking a very large fall from the sky, Globox is separated and from then on is only seen from time-to-time.

Rayman 2: Revolution
Though Globox's primary roles in Revolution were similar to those in Rayman 2, a few new elements were added. In Revolution, Globox does not grant Rayman the ability to shoot his Magic Fist, but instead simply allows Rayman to punch. Globox's house, children, and relation with Uglette are depicted in a larger scale; one of his daughters is an important character later in the game, Uglette is constantly seen worrying about Globox, and his cliffside house's acres of land are the setting for one half of the second part of the game. Globox joins Rayman on a few occasions in a fashion similar to Clark or Globox's role in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. Globox must be taken past Whale Bay to use his Rain Dance so as to enable entry to the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire.

Rayman M/Rayman Rush
In Rayman M and Rayman Rush, Globox is one of the initially available characters.

Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc
Globox remains physically similar to his original appearance, though had become a comedic sidekick for his next appearance. Globox plays a major plot role, having swallowed Andre accidentally and having to find a doctor who would find a solution to remove Andre from Globox during the first half of the game. During this time, Globox is forced to drink plum juice, despite allergies, and during a somewhat drunken state, he gains special abilities for short periods of time that are needed to progress through the game or move Globox forward through the level (by floating). Through the second half he plays a lesser role, though tends to follow Rayman on their journey. He is notably voice acted by actor John Leguizamo.

Rayman: Hoodlums' Revenge
In Rayman: Hoodlums' Revenge, Globox follows Rayman through much of the game, similar to Rayman 3. Globox is also a playable character in some levels. Often times there will be a puzzle-like sequence of events that requires the player to use both Rayman and Globox to move forward in the level. As Andre has been consumed once more, Globox can use the effects of plum juice to do certain things to move on in the stage, such as breaking metal bars.
After climbing to the top of the Summit Beyond the Clouds Rayman is forced to snowboard after his frozen friend Globox. When Rayman manages to pass him their weight combined manages to break the stone shelf they were standing on tumbling them into the HQ.

The HHQ is over seen by the game's major enemy André, who uses tricks and traps to capture Rayman's friend Globox. The actual environment is a hacked together never-seen vehicle which transports Rayman to the Leptys where by he can trick the King of the Knaaren into using the scepter to call for power via the gods.

André's machine 'the horrible machine', is defeated and in a last ditch attempt to stop Rayman he opens up the flood gates holding back the lava effectively destroying his own ship and killing a proportion of his own army. Both André and Rayman survive the suicide attempt.

Admiral Razorbeard is the main antagonist of Rayman 2: The Great Escape and its remakes. He also appears in Rayman M/Arena, Rayman Rush, Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc for the GBA system, and Rayman: The Animated Series.

Description
Admiral Razorbeard is the ringmaster of the Robo-Pirate Army, which invade the Glade of Dreams and captures most of the world's inhabitants to use as slaves or fuel. He is a short robot with a peg-leg, wearing a huge admiral hat and red and white striped pants, and has a huge crooked piece of metal on his face which is supposedly a beard, hence his name.

Little is known about Razorbeard's history except for the fact that he had already conquered over 100 planets before attempting to invade Rayman's world. After he was defeated in Rayman 2, Razorbeard found himself a job as a tamer at Rigatoni's circus. Before the great competition of Rayman M began, he gave his resignation to Rigatoni and gathered his army of Robo-Pirates. He is also known to be married.

Role in the Games
Rayman 2/Rayman Revolution
Razorbeard is the leader of the Robo-Pirates. Rayman fights him in the Crow's Nest on the Pirate Prison Ship. Razorbeard will try to destroy Rayman on the Grolgoth, a fighting machine.

Rayman M
Razorbeard is one of the five playable characters that are initially available.

Rayman 3 GBA
Razorbeard is the main villain and has the same role from Rayman 2. Rayman fights him in his Grolgoth at the Heart of the Ancients.

Rayman 3
Razorbeard made a cameo appearance in the third level of the Hoodlum Headquarters, along with many of his henchmen. In here, he and his robots are standing at a large table, all in different positions, creating their own version of the Last Supper.

Non-game Appearances
Razorbeard makes a fairly brief appearance in the Rayman: The Animated Series episode "Lac-Mac Napping", in which as opposed to his role in Rayman 2, he is a mere lackey to Rigatoni. His physical appearance has also changed, such as having a mouth (which was strangely under his beard), and has a non-robotic voice, but he still retains his irritable personality. He is voiced by Carlos Alazraqui in the TV series.
