Betilla the Fairy is a character from Rayman and Rayman Junior. Despite the name similarity, she is notably a different species from Ly the Fairy.

Appearance
Betilla the Fairy resembles a Raymanian, though certain anatomic differences set her apart in a way similar to Mister Dark. She has long red hair, wears very pale lipstick, and she wears a green and yellow hat and dress covered in blue stars.

Roles in the Games
Rayman/Rayman Advance
It is Betilla's job to protect the Great Protoon from anything happening to it. Unfortunately she was defeated by Mister Dark when he steals it, and was later kidnapped by him. Before then, at certain points in the game, she would give Rayman his powers one by one, and instruct him on how to use them. She does not really speak, but rather make a mystical 'doo-doo' voice.

Rayman Junior
In this remake, Betilla now has a proper human voice. Along with the Magician, she gives Rayman an overview of the tasks he has to do in a specific level. She also helps Rayman to practice his moves in a special tutorial level called Betilla's Garden, which is basically a number of simplified maps from the original game used to practice the game's controls.
Rayman is the main character in the Ubisoft video game series of the same name. He is the creation of French game designer Michel Ancel (who had first designed Rayman in 1992), and has become a popular and recognizable video games character over the past decade, making his debut in 1995 on the Atari Jaguar.

Appearance
Rayman is a typical Raymanian and as such he has no arms, legs or a neck - his hands, feet and head float around his body. He has a huge round nose, and has strawberry blonde hair which he divides into two (three in Rayman 1) fronds that are held up to resemble ears. He often uses this as a helicopter, and sometimes to fly whenever he is able to. His eyes are dark blue in colour, though in most official artwork they are coloured black.

Rayman is almost always seen in white gloves and a purple shirt with a white ring on the chest, which absorbs energy from the Fairies and connects to the altars of the Four Masks of Polokus. Up until Rayman 3, he wears a red neckerchief, which was then replaced with a red hood. He also wears shoes that are typically yellow and white, though the actual designs change throughout the series. Rayman Raving Rabbids is mostly where he is seen wearing different clothing that sometimes looks like he has knees, such as the Disco costume.

Biography
The Original Story of Rayman
Very little is known about Rayman's early life, though in the Jaguar version of Rayman, the story told of a young boy named Jimmy that had been sucked into a world he had created on his computer called "Hereitscool", and transformed into the limbless wonder. This original plot was pulled from the final product, and Rayman was instead made to be the guardian of his first world. However, it is unknown as to why exactly Rayman and all of the other characters in the first game are limbless.

No Problem!
Rayman is first seen having fun with the Electoons in his peaceful world, until Mr. Dark comes along to kidnap the Great Protoon. He was then seem asleep in a hammock, where he lazily speaks the words "No problem", in response to his calls from the Magician to save the world from the terror caused by this mysterious villain. He apparently lives by the sea in what looks like a shipwrecked boat, though his home is never fully seen. He then travels through six different lands in search of Mr. Dark's Dare, where he challenges and defeats Mr. Dark and his hybrids.

Rayman the Teacher
Main Article: Rayman Junior

From 1996, Rayman appeared in several educational computer games designed especially for children, notably a remake of the original Rayman in which the player has to solve several reading and mathematics questions throughout modified versions of the original levels. This game had several names, and was later released for the PlayStation in 2000 as Rayman Junior.

Other educational Rayman games included the following:

* Rayman Activity Centre
* Rayman Premiers Clics
* Rayman Éveil

The Glade of Dreams
It is unknown how exactly Rayman transited from his home world to the world in which the sequel, Rayman 2: The Great Escape was set in, though a number of official sources say that he was found either washed up on the shores of this new land, or sleeping peacefully under a palm tree and found by fishermen. Either way, the people of this land were soon convinced of his good intentions, and supposedly he had befriended the likes of Globox and Ly.

Pirates!
Main Articles: Rayman 2: The Great Escape, Rayman Revolution, and Rayman DS

Now it was time for Rayman to show his heroism. Admiral Razorbeard and his Robo-Pirate army soon attacked and in the Great Forest, Rayman and Globox fought off a bunch of them. Suddenly, Rayman's powers disappeared and Ly telepathically communicated with him to tell him the Heart of the World had been smashed into 1000 pieces called Lums, meaning Rayman and Ly's powers had disappeared. Then Rayman was captured and he told a frightened Globox to go to Ly for help. Rayman was put in a jail cell and Globox himself soon arrived, giving him a Silver Lum from Ly. The Silver Lum gave him back the power to shoot his magic fist and he used to escape. Globox accidentally knocked Rayman off the ship and they both go plunging towards the ground.

On his journey to find Ly, Rayman meets Murfy, the Grand Minimus, the Baby Globoxes, and more. He soon finds Ly, who gives him the grapple power back and tells him he needs to find the four masks of Polokus to reawaken Polokus himself. On his journey to collect them, Rayman carried out many tasks such as finding the Elixir of Life to cure Clark, rescuing many friends from captivity and even defeating the guardians of the masks. Eventually, he collected all four and was taken to the Prison Ship to defeat Razorbeard. After beating him, Razorbeard destroyed the Prison Ship and Rayman was believed to have died in the explosion, with the only thing left of him being his shoe. At his funeral, Rayman arrived almost safe and sound and was reunited with his shoe, and after a long and difficult journey, he was told to rest.

Rigatoni, the villainous boss of the Aeropolis circus, captures Rayman and takes him to his circus. Rayman, however, does not take this and jokes around with Razorbeard, who is now portrayed as Rigatoni's servant. Rayman finds out how badly the other circus freaks are being treated and helps them escape. Angered, Rigatoni phones Inspector Grub and tells him to find Rayman and his new friends and bring them back. Back with Rayman and the gang, they see an old man struggling to fix a car. The man promises he'll let them have the car if they can fix it and Cookie successfully manages to do so.

Let the competition begin!
Main Article: Rayman M

Rayman and his friends and foes returned for a competition to see who actually was the best. The competition contained two parts: Racing and Battle. Rayman was one of the main competitors in these competitions. Even Razorbeard is back because he gave his resignation to Rigatoni and gathered his army of Robo-Pirates.
Razorbeard's Revenge
Main Article: Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc (GBA)

When Razorbeard strikes back at the Glades of Dreams, it is up to Rayman to save his friends yet again. Rayman and Globox talk about how Globox was saving the Teensies when he accidentally swallowed a Black Lum. Suddenly, Globox vanishes and Rayman goes looking for him. Facing similar events to Rayman 2, Rayman soon battles Razorbeard's machine, the Grolgoth, once more and defeats Razorbeard.

Later, Globox tells his children that he saved the world, with a little help from Rayman.

A Wacky Adventure
Main Article: Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc

Rayman and his best friend Globox are napping in the Crossroads of Dreams. Rayman's hands suddenly come to life and walk off. They see a Red Lum and scare it by making shadow puppets. The Red Lum is scared so much that it turns into the Dark Lum Lord Andre, who goes and creates his Hoodlum army, attempting to destroy the Heart of the World.

Eager in his intents, he storms through the door, unaware that Rayman and Globox had already arrived there. Globox, standing in front of the door, screams and swallows Andre, where Andre soon decides to reside. From there, Rayman and Globox visit three different doctors. The third decides to meet with the first two, where they could cooperatively attempt to extract Andre, and succeed. Andre then visits the fallen Knaaren warrior Reflux, where he encourages him to follow through with his new plot. Reflux, ashamed of his defeat, takes well to the offer and, once more, pursues his goals of power and might.

After Rayman and Globox follow the recently-formed duo throughout several different locations, they finally arrive at the Tower of the Leptys, where Reflux was waiting, now with the power of Leptys, to once again face his enemy. Following his final defeat (where he then crystallizes and shatters), Andre is converted to a Red Lum again, triggering all other Black Lums to do the same.

Character
Physical
Rayman is a very laid back character, as he is often seen snoozing either on a hammock or up against a tree, but he is also very athletic and shows great gymnastic skills, especially since Rayman 2. He is also strong enough to carry things such as plums, kegs and even Baby Globoxes. However, he started out as a poor swimmer, as in the original Rayman he would lose a life the instant he'd fall into any body of liquid, but he soon develops this skill fast by the time Rayman 2 is set in. In Rayman Revolution he is taught this by Murfy and a Baby Globox.

Personality
Rayman's true personality isn't very well looked into throughout the series, though most of the time he is a cheerful character with a good sense of humour. He is also very helpful, and is willing to take on whatever challenges face him for the sake of the safety and harmony of his world. Sometimes he can be a little childish, especially in Rayman 1, as he often pulls grimaces for a defense. Lately though he has become somewhat self absorbed, especially in Rayman Raving Rabbids, as the Rabbids start to treat him like a celebrity during his captivity, though he remembers and worries about the Baby Globoxes that he left behind.

Trivia
* Rayman was a wanted character in the game Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but never made it.
* When Rayman 2 was released in Japan and China, Rayman's purple clothes and the stripes on Ly's suit had to be changed to blue, because in those countries purple is the "colour of the dead".
* One of Rayman's hobbies is painting, which was revealed at a later point in Rayman 1 and in Rayman Junior.
* Rayman also seems to like basketball. In Rayman 2, he would sometimes take his body off and play with it like a basketball whenever he is left idle.
* Some of Rayman's gymnastic skills include handstands, somersaults and back flips.
* Rayman appears in the credits of Tonic Trouble.
Jano also keeps an eye on Polokus' treasure.

Appearance
Jano is a larger version of the one eyed, fire breathing monsters that dwell in the Cave of Bad Dreams and the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire, only that he carries a stick with a skull on top, and that he wears a magician's hat identical to Polokus' hat.

Character
Jano is a fierce but wise creature, with an ability to read one's mind and made skulls appear. As a guardian, he will ward off anyone that doesn't know the name of the Cave of Bad Dreams. In Rayman 2, he challenges Rayman to find the treasure that is hidden deep in the cave, and offers it to him upon his defeat. He can tell whether or not one is greedy, so he rewards Rayman with the Elixir of Life for refusing to take the treasure.

Rayman Revolution (known in the United States as Rayman 2: Revolution) is an updated remake of Rayman 2: The Great Escape made specially as a launch title for the Sony PlayStation 2 in 2000. Several changes have been made for this version, notably the upgraded graphics, the inclusion of new worlds and mini-games, and the order of the gameplay. Its difficulty was also slightly higher of Rayman 2. Similar to the PlayStation version of Rayman 2, some levels were shaped differently or removed (i.e. Echoing Caves).

New Features
Akin to games such as Sonic Adventure, the levels in Rayman Revolution are accessed via three new hub worlds: The Minisaurus Plain, Globox's House, and Rainbow Creek that allow free roaming, making this version a lot less linear than the previous versions. There are also new events, missions, and puzzles to accomplish. In addition, new characters are introduced such as Bzzit, and Rayman can acquire new powers, items and abilities, such as the ones he can buy with the Yellow Lums he collected at the Magic Well, an equivalent to the typical item shop.

Characters such as Ly, Clark, and the Teensies appear a lot more often in this version. Ly increases Rayman's health by offering minigames, which include the Walks of Power and Life and the roller coaster segment that was previously in the Top of the World, in exchange for the Familiar Spirits, a new kind of spirits that are trapped in the cages. Meanwhile, the Teensies host the Stone Circles, which allow Rayman to return to places he has already visited.

Powers and Items
The game requires a lot more backtracking than before to collect the rest of the Lums that Rayman could not reach for the first time. Objects such as cannons, beacons, plants and mushrooms appear throughout the game, and need Rayman to gain his new powers and specials items (such as the Rain Mask) in order to use them. A notable difference between the previous versions is that Rayman is not granted with the shooting power at the beginning, but is simply given the ability to punch, though he is shortly given the shooting power by the Teensies. As Rayman progresses, his shots get much stronger thanks to Silver Lums, until he can produce a shot that is as powerful as an exploding grenade.

Later in the game, Rayman is given some items to help him, such as the Rain Mask, which performs a Rain Dance like Globox's and helps plants to grow, and the Lums Radar, which is a magnet that can help him find any Yellow Lums that he may have missed. Reminiscing the original Rayman, Rayman can be shrunk to help him squeeze through small holes by eating mushrooms that he can water with the Rain Dance.

Unlike the previous versions, Rayman can keep his flying power, which he lost beneath the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava, conditionally - he can only use it whenever he is flying above any body of lava.

Glitches
One thing to notice about Rayman Revolution, is the many incredible glitches. Glitches can be annoying, but some of them are actually very amazing.

List of glitches
Walking shell sound - If you turn up or turn down the SFX volume in the options menu, you hear different sounds. One of them is a walking shell sound. If you hear it while turning up the volume, try holding the 'right' button, and exit the pause menu. The sound will continue.

Flying FPS view - By far the coolest glitch in the game. It sometimes happen when you run throught the door that leads to where you meet Clark, in the Menhir Hills. I FPS mode, you can fly around the level, and you can even leave it, and fly out to "Orange World". This also allows Rayman to run around in the walking shell tracks. Sadly, we're not really sure how to make it happen.

Air swimming - Not as cool as the one above, but way easier to perform. Here is a guide in how to do it:
1. Go to the Skull Cave.
2. Use the flying helicopter power to hover over the lava.
3. Go throught the rock over the enterance (the first glitch i used).
4. Land in the water, right outside the big cave you see.
5. You can now swim around in the air.

Sadly, Rayman will run out of air after some time...

Rayman goes insane - Perform the Air swimming glitch and fly/swim to the entrance of the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire. Fly as high as you can, or Rayman will just enter the level normally. If you do it right, it should look like this:
Link!
After a long time, Rayman will start leaving the screen, but he will come back later, and start flying throught the rock.

Other glitches - There are other glitches, that's a little hard to explain. But none of them are too different from those above.

Ly the Fairy is a character from Rayman 2: The Great Escape and its remakes, along with the Gameboy Advance version of Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. She takes the same role as Betilla the Fairy did in Rayman.

Description
Ly resembles a humanoid with elven ears, a very thin build, green lips that match the colour of her eyes and short blue hair. She also appears to have feline or fox features, such as her bushy tail which is the same colour as her hair. She wears a yellow suit, covered in purple stripes. Early concept art depicting her shows that she may have been originally an anthropomorphic cat, as she appeared to have cat ears and a non-human nose. In the Walks of Life and Power, she can be seen running on all fours.

Ly's personality is seldom touched on in Rayman 2, but it is looked into in Revolution. Ly is a warm, friendly sort of person who will root on her friends to the very end. Ly deeply admires Polokus, and is very enthusiastic about him.

Ly the Fairy lives in a cottage in a clearing near the Eastern Plains. She also likes to rest atop a stone near Globox's House and in a cave in Rainbow Creek. Ly's favorite haunts include the Woods of Light and the Fairy Glade.

It is unknown if Ly has any relation to Tily the Fairy.

At one point, Ly was captured by Robo-Pirates and imprisoned in the Fairy Glade.

Role in the Games
Rayman 2
Ly may be compared to Betilla the Fairy in her main role in the original Rayman 2. Using Silver Lums, Ly grants Rayman powers in various points of the game. However, Rayman must first rescue Ly from the Fairy Glade. Ly additionally offers two Time Races: the Walk of Life by the Bayou, and the Walk of Power by the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava.

Revolution
In Revolution, Ly returns to her house after being rescued. To increase the maximum capacity of the HP Bar, Rayman must acquire all the Red Lums in the mini-games Ly offers. A new mini-game is offered for every 10 Fairy Familiars Rayman acquires.

Rayman 3 GBA
She plays the same role as Betilla in Rayman 1. Oddly enough, Ly's sprite in this game shows that her tail is now a large ponytail, though in a cut-scene she still has her tail.

Rayman Raving Rabbids GBA
Ly makes some brief appearances in the Gameboy Advance version of Rayman Raving Rabbids, where she gives Rayman a costume medallion everytime he defeats a boss. While the game uses the same sprites as Rayman 3 for the GBA, she has a new appearance in the cut-scenes, where the front of her hair is curlier than before, she has pale blue lipstick, and her suit reveals her shoulders.

Trivia
*Ly was originally going to appear in Rayman M, but was in the end replaced by Tily the Fairy.
* There was a concept artwork for Rayman 3 which depicted Ly with a totally different appearance. She had no tail, but instead had huge dragonfly-like wings and she wore a new outfit of the same colour, as well as a pair of elbow length gloves, while also having blue dots over her face and arms. This design was dropped from the final game, though it can be found as a printable in the Rayman 3 Print Studio.
* Ly likes to juggle - several Rayman 2 images depicted her to have juggled with at least 3 red balls, and even Rayman's body parts.
* Ly is a playable character in the Rayman Revolution mini-game Missile Dogfight.
* It is rumoured that Ly was possibly going to appear in Rayman Raving Rabbids before it became a party game.
* It is also rumoured that Ly could be Rayman's girlfriend because of two artwork pictures for Rayman 2.
* Ly's voice in Rayman 2/ DS is an echoing, girly voice. In Revolution, although Ly spoke English, you still hear the echoing voice in the background.

Cameos
*Rayman M: In Ly's Palace, an ice sculpture of Ly is found the centre of the room.
*Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc: In a stage in the Longest Shortcut, another statue of Ly is hidden behind a painting.

She had no tail, but instead had huge dragonfly-like wings, her hair and lips were now phthalo blue instead of purple, and she wore a new outfit of the same colour, as well as a pair of elbow length gloves, while also having blue dots over her face and arms.

Razorwife (sometimes known as Mrs. Razorbeard) is a Robo-Pirate that appears in Rayman M and its PlayStation port, Rayman Rush, as an unlockable playable character. As her name suggests, she is Razorbeard's wife.

Appearance
Like her husband, Razorwife has a peg leg and is about the same size as him, but she dresses much more flamboyantly by wearing a yellow dress, pink polka-dot bloomers and pink sunglasses, and has her blue "hair" up in a Marge Simpson-like style. She also lacks the metal "beard" Razorbeard has, but instead has what looks like a pair of buckteeth.

Personality
She is similar to Razorbeard in personality in that she is bad-tempered and bossy. Though this is a bad point, as she tends to boss her husband around. She also likes opera, which is her theme in Rayman M.
}}
Rayman is the hero of the Glade of Dreams. He is the creation of French game designer Michel Ancel, and has become a popular and recognizable video games character over the past decade.

Up until Rayman 3, he wears a red neckerchief, which was later replaced with a hood. He also wears shoes that are typically yellow, though the actual designs change throughout the series. Rayman Raving Rabbids is mostly where he is seen wearing different clothing that sometimes looks like he has knees, such as the Disco costume.

Biography
The Original Story of Rayman
Very little is known about Rayman's early life, though in the Jaguar version of Rayman, the story told of a young boy called Jimmy that had been sucked into a world he had created on his computer called "Hereitscool", and transformed into the limbless wonder. It is also unknown as to why exactly Rayman and all of the other characters in the first game are limbless, though rumour has it that the removal of limbs had saved the original graphics team 20 times more memory space than they would have with limbs.

No Problem!
Rayman is first seen in his first game asleep in a hammock, where he lazily speaks the words "No problem" in response to his calls from the Magician to save the world from the terror caused by Mister Dark. He apparently lives by the sea in what looks like a shipwrecked boat, though his home is never fully seen. It is then he travels through six different lands in search of Mister Dark's Dare, where he challenges and defeats Mr. Dark and his hybrids.

Rayman the Teacher
Main Article: Rayman Junior

From 1996, Rayman appeared in several educational computer games designed especially for children, notably a remake of the original Rayman in which the player has to solve several questions throughout modified versions of the original levels. This game had several names, and was later released for the Playstation in 2000 as Rayman Junior.

Other educational Rayman games included the following:

* Rayman Activity Centre
* Rayman Premieres Clics
* Rayman Éviel

New friends
After what happened in Rayman 1 and Rayman Junior, Rayman travelled away from where he grew up. Maybe to learn about his past. He somehow met Globox, Ly, Clark and the others, on his way. He discovered many of the secrets and creatures of his world, including lums, spirits, teensies and more.

Pirates!
Main Articles: Rayman 2: The Great Escape, Rayman Revolution and Rayman DS

Now it was time for Rayman to show his heroicness. Admiral Razorbeard and his Robo-Pirate army soon attacked and in the Great Forest, Rayman and Globox fought off a bunch of them. Suddenly, Rayman's powers disppeared and Ly telephatically communicated with him to tell him the Heart of the World had been smashed into 1000 pieces called Lums, meaning Rayman and Ly's powers had disappeared. Then Rayman was captured and he told a frightened Globox to go to Ly for help. Rayman was put in a jail cell and Globox himself soon arrived, giving him a Silver Lum from Ly. The Silver Lum gave him back the power to shoot his magic fist and he used to escape. Globox accidentally knocks Rayman off the ship and they both go plunging to their doom...

On his journey to find Ly, Rayman meets Murfy, the Grand Minimus, the Baby Globoxes and more. He soon finds Ly, who gives him the grapple power back and tells him he needs to finds the four masks of Polokus to reawaken Polokus himself. On his journey to collect them, Rayman does many things such as find an Elixer to cure Clark, free many friends from captivity and even defeats the guardians of the masks. Eventually, he collects all four and travels to the Prison Ship to defeat Razorbeard. After beating him, Razorbeard blows up the Prison Ship and Rayman is believed to be dead, the only thing left of him being his shoe. At his funeral, Rayman arrives, and everyone cheers, knowing their hero is still alive after a long and difficult journey.

Hanging out in the city
Main Article: Rayman: The Animated Series

Rigatoni, the villainous boss of the Aeropolis circus, captures Rayman and takes him to his circus. Rayman, however, does not take this and jokes around with Razorbeard, Rigatoni's servant. Rayman finds out how badly the other circus freaks are being treated and helps them escape. Angered, Rigatoni phones Inspector Grub and tells him to find Rayman and his new friends and bring them back. Back with Rayman and the gang, they see an old man struggling to fix a car. The man promises he'll let them have the car if they can fix it and Cookie successfully manages and the gang take the car.

Let the competition begin!
Main Article: Rayman M

Rayman and his friends & foes returned for a competition to see who actually was the best. The competition contained two parts: Racing and Battle. Rayman was one of the main competetors, but he did not have any skins.

Facing similar events to Rayman 2, Rayman soon battles Razorbeard's machine the Grolgoth yet again and defeats Razorbeard.

The Red Lum is scared so much that it turns into the Dark Lum Lord Andre, who goes and creates his Hoodlum army.

Rayman and Globox sleep peacefully when Murfy comes panicking. He wakes Globox up and Globox sees why Murfy is panicking: there is a Hoodlum coming straight for them. Desperate, they try to wake Rayman up, and Globox ends up accidentally pulling off Rayman's hands. Globox runs off in fear of his life, taking Rayman's hands with him. Murfy picks Rayman up by the hair and they both fly off, Rayman waking up.

Murfy explains to Rayman that Globox took off with his hands and they both search for him. Finally, they find him hiding in a barrel and Rayman, Globox and Rayman's hands are reunited. However, Globox is soon scared off when three Hoodlums arrive, the leader of which is Andre himself. Rayman and Globox follow them and eventually find Andre. Murfy distracts him while Rayman beats him up. Andre, after having come out of the Hoodlum costume, leaves behind a Laser Detergent Washing Powder and reveals that he is heading for the Heart of the World, so Rayman and Murfy follow him. Soon they see Globox, and Andre comes running right for the entrance to the Heart of the World, with one problem: Globox is in the way. Globox notices Andre and thinks Andre is coming for him, so screams, opening his mouth wide. Andre then bumps into Globox and ends up in his mouth, falling into his stomach.

Rayman and Murfy proceed to the Heart and see the Teensies, King Minimus among them, with Globox. they send Globox to the Teensie Highway and tell Rayman to follow him, as it leads to the Doctor Otto. Rayman obeys and they arrive at Clearleaf Forest. After beating the Masterkaag there they find the Doctor's office. Otto plays Globox's arm like a guitar to try and get rid of Andre, but Andre instead goes to the Lungs, where the noise is blocked. Otto tells Rayman and Globox to go see the second Doctor Romeo.

However, in the Teensie Highway on the way to the Doctor's, Rayman ends up falling and ends up in Begoniax's toilet in the Bog of Murk; right when Begoniax is using the toilet. Begoniax runs off to her house and Rayman goes to battle her. After that, Rayman soon finds the Hoodlums trying to break into Count Razoff's house. Rayman beats them and walks into the house, battling Razoff himself who wishes to kill Rayman so he can become a rug skin carpet. Rayman wins and follows Razoff to his back garden, where Razoff is riding a giant chainball! Rayman remains victorious and Razoff plunges down underground. Begoniax goes to see what the trouble is and instantly falls in love with Razoff, taking him to her house. Rayman and Globox are reunited and take a portal to the Land of the Livid Dead.

Character
Physical
Rayman is a very laid back character, as he is often seen snoozing either on a hammock or up against a tree, but he is also very athletic and shows great gymnastic skills, especially since Rayman 2. He is also strong enough to carry things such as plums.

Sometimes he can be a little childish, especially in Rayman 1, as he often pulls grimaces for whatever reason.

Rayman is the hero of the Glade of Dreams. He is the creation of French game designer Michel Ancel, and has become a popular and recognizable video games character over the past decade.

From 1996, Rayman appeared in several educational computer games designed especially for children, notably a remake of the original Rayman in which the player has to solve several questions throughout modified versions of the original levels. This game had several names, and was later released for the Playstation in 2000 as Rayman Junior.

Other educational Rayman games included the following:

* Rayman Activity Centre
* Rayman Premieres Clics
* Rayman Éviel

Pirates!

Rayman and his friends & foes returned for a competition to see who actually was the best. The competition contained two parts: Racing and Battle. Rayman was one of the main competetors, but he did not have any skins.

Facing similar events to Rayman 2, Rayman soon battles Razorbeard's machine the Grolgoth yet again and defeats Razorbeard.

Sometimes he can be a little childish, especially in Rayman 1, as he often pulls grimaces for whatever reason.

* In Rayman Junior, it is revealed that one of Rayman's hobbies is painting.

The Robo-Pirates (or Henchmen) are an army of robotic pirates that invaded Rayman's world in Rayman 2. They all willingly serve Admiral Razorbeard, but do seem to have their own personalities.
Appearance
The majority of the Henchmen are largely the same. Their head is like a metallic skull with an earring on one side. Also, one eye is completely black, as if they have an eye patch. Their torso basically consists of a cube-like shape with a coloured vest on it. The vest is slightly torn at the bottom. They have two arms, both of which end in a cylinder-like structure. On one side, the cylinder is hollow - this is where they fire their bullets from. The other side has a large hook, which they often use for swiping at close range. Their two legs have striped pants that are similar to the vest in that they are torn at the bottom. Their feet are basically black shoes with gold-ish buckles on them.

Models
There are many different pirate models, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.

Basic Henchman
The basic Henchman are the standard model, that come in different colours and have different weapons, but all look largely the same. They sometimes appear in the level by parachuting or drilling up through the ground. More than often they are found sleeping on the job.

Green
These have a green vest with green and white striped pants. They have very little health and generally just stand still and slowly shoot, however they sometimes throw powder kegs. In the PlayStation version, however, they have a lot of life, making them difficult to kill, but only ever throw kegs.

Purple
These are much like the Green Henchmen, except purple instead of green, and they have much more life. Their bullets are often larger, and they have a habit of firing multiple bullets in quick succession. They move around a bit, sometimes jumping to dodge Rayman's attacks. In the PlayStation version, their bullets are the same but are always fired in sets of three, in between running back and forth. They have more life in the PlayStation version, but not as much as the Green Henchmen.

Yellow
The Yellow Henchmen have much more life, but move very little. Instead of bullets, they launch streams of fire, which move very quickly, and also throw cannonballs which start a fire where they land which causes damage when Rayman walks on it. Yellow Henchmen do not appear in the PlayStation version, but are instead replaced with Orange Henchmen. The Orange Henchmen have more life, and move around a lot via their drills. They don't throw cannonballs, and instead of a fire stream, just shoot large fireballs.

Red
These are the strongest of the standard Henchmen, and appear with red vests and red and yellow stripes on their pants. They fire missiles which can home in on Rayman, but can be destroyed by Rayman's attacks. Red Henchmen have lots of life. However, in the PlayStation version, their rank is inverted and they have very little life and fire only basic shots. Two Red Henchmen are used as the bodyguards in front of Razorbeard's cabin, even in the PlayStation version. Two of them (likely the same two) also carry Globox to his prison cell in the opening movie. Later on, one of the bodyguards puts his foot out to trip Razorbeard's Lackey, proving that they might have a personality.

Henchman 1000
An older version of the Henchman 800. These types of robo-pirates are similar to the newer ones, but with a retro design and a fake mustasche. They have a hand on their right arm instead of a hook, and they are wearing a paper hat. These pirates usually say spanish stuff (when they talk). They have only been seen once, as an unlockable character in Rayman M. The Henchman 1000 main theme is country rock.

Zombie Henchmen
These are old pirates that have been wrecked and rusted, but still walk. Their vests are a pale, rotted yellow, and one of their feet are missing. In additino, their hook hangs limply off the arm and both eyes are black. As a result of their state, they don't move around very well, and walk in a zombie-like manner. Instead of shooting from their arm, the Zombie Henchmen breathes a green poisonous gas towards Rayman. Zombie Henchmen are very difficult to destroy, as when they appear to be dead, they get up again a few moments later. These are found in Rayman 2: Revolution.

Ninjaws and the Ninja Henchmen
The Ninja Pirates are very similar to the others, but have a few notable appearance traits and abilities that make them very different. Ninjaws is seemingly the elite of them, who at one point returns to Razorbeard's cabin claiming to have captured 5000 slaves. They are more or less completely black and look a little less square. Their heads appear very different. Instead of a skull, it appears as a tall cylinder topped with a red bandanna. Ninja Henchmen have a lot of life, and have the ability to vanish and then reappear somewhere else in a cloud of dust. They either appear near Rayman and try to hook Rayman, or appear standing back more and try to shoot him. Sometimes they will teleport quickly to different places around Rayman while shooting, surrounding him with bullets. Their weakness is that their hooks are very heavy. If they miss, it gives Rayman an opportunity to attack. In Rayman 2: Revolution, two can be seen in Razorbeard's cabin. Later on, they defend the two generators that power the shield at the pirate factory, and once the generators are destroyed, the Ninja Henchmen are no longer seen next to Razorbeard.

Gorilla Pirate
Main article: Ape Pirate<br>

The Gorilla Pirates are so named because of their similarities to an ape or gorilla, in both appearance and behaviour. they are very bulky, and where a blue and white striped shirt. they can not be hurt by Rayman's attacks, so usually the idea is to lure them off a cliff or ledge, or to throw a plum at their head and use it as a platform.

Barrel Pirate
Main article: Barrel Pirate<br>

The Barrel Pirates consist of a large barrel with legs, a cannon on top, and a slit with eyes inside. Sometimes they are found disguising themselves, as the slit can be closed and the legs can be withdrawn. In this state, they just look like a barrel and a cannon. Their attacks differ from version to version. On the PlayStation version, they simply fire sets of three large balls of electricity. In Rayman 2: Revolution however, they fire bolts of lightning that can only be avoided by hiding behind something. In this version, they also launch cannonballs, similar to those used by the yellow henchmen, only it uses a poisonous gas instead of fire. One thing that is consistent in each version is their large amount of life.

Razorbeard's Lackey
Main article: Admiral Razorbeard's Lackey<br>

This is the pirate who carries out many of Razorbeard's orders. He is unarmed, although his arms are very similar to a typical Henchman's, except with ordinary hands. his body consists of two rough cubes, the lower one larger than the top. The lower one has the legs sticking out of it and a pair of green pants. His head is a basic cube with an opening mouth and a red bandanna. Although he has no weapons, he still causes Rayman trouble. Carrying out Razorbeard's orders, he drives the Warships which pursue Rayman. He also controls Clark at one point via remote control, as well as a giant bird-like robot called the Dinosaur in the same manner. Also, in Rayman 2: Revolution, he controls a hemispherical vehicle called the Biditank.

Antitoons
In the PS version of Rayman 2, the antitoons are helping the robo-pirates. There are four of them in the game, and they appear in The Fairy Glade and The Echoing caves. They are first seen in The Fairy Glade, under the big tree. There is only one, and it doesn't follow Rayman everywhere. It's just trying to keep him away from the tree. One shot is enough to beat them, so don't freak out if you see one. In the prison where Ly is captured, you can find two of them. They are running aroud like idiots, and they will try to kill Rayman if he get too close to them. The last is at the watermill in The Echoing Caves. You better beat it quick, because you're going to figt a pirate at the same spot!

Pirate Vehicles
The Warships
Warships are flying ships that attack Rayman in The Bayou, The Canopy and The Precipice. They usually fire slow moving homing bombs that move about like a helicopter, and can be easily destroyed by Rayman's attacks. They also fire cannonballs, but these are not usually aimed at Rayman, but instead at platforms to blow them away. They may also launch walking shells that run towards Rayman upon landing.

The Dinosaur
The Dinosaur is a giant bird-like robot controlled by Razorbeard's Lackey. It is only ever named in the PlayStation version, but does appear in the others. It often pecks the ground like a chicken. The Dinosaur is notable for periodically jumping high, and upon landing, causes objects to bounce off the ground. Also, when Rayman is on the shell, it chases after him, and runs faster than the shell when going in a straight line, but lacks agility. The Dinosaur is not destroyed, although in the PlayStation version it runs out of fuel.

The Biditank
This is a tank-like vehicle that takes the shape of a hemisphere. It is driven by Razorbeard's Lackey in the pirate factory in Rayman 2: Revolution, and travels on wheels located underneath it. It fires the same kind of propeller bombs as the Warship as well as a machine gun-like weapon. Also, it can use an attack like that of the Barrel Pirates, at which point Rayman must hide behind something. It can only be damaged by activating a powerful gun and using it to fire at the tank.

However, in the PlayStation version, their rank is inverted and they have very little life and fire only basic shots.

Ly the Fairy is a character from Rayman 2: The Great Escape and its remakes, along with Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. She takes the same role as Betilla the Fairy did in Rayman.

Description
Ly resembles a humanoid with elven ears, a very thin build, green lips that match the colour of her eyes, and short purple hair. She also appears to have feline or fox features, such as her bushy tail which is the same colour as her hair. Her clothes is a suit, covered in purple stripes.

She also likes to rest atop a stone near Globox's House and in a cave in the Rainbow Cliffs. Ly's favorite haunts include the Woods of Light and the Fairy Glade.

It is unknown if Ly has any relation to Tilly the Fairy.

Trivia
*Ly was originally going to appear in Rayman M, but was in the end replaced by Tilly the Fairy.
