The Jump Challenge is one of Ly's minigames, accessible when the player has freed at least 20 Familiar Spirits.
In this stage, the player has to pick up 20 Red Lums, which are scatterd along a stack of metal boxes, before the time runs out.

If the player succeeds in collecting all Red Lums in the time limit, he/she is rewarded an extended lifebar.
Count Razoff is a boss from Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. He is a tall green reptile (with a similar appearance to the Grub race from the animated series) that lives in a mansion in the Bog of Murk. Dressed in a red and gold outfit, he sports a shotgun which shoots arrows at any intruders that dares to enter his mansion. He is a hunter, and throughout the mansion there are taxidermies of all of the animals that he had hunted. He has a bust of Sssam in his mansion; whether Razoff has killed him or not remains to be seen.

Biography
Count Razoff is the son of Count Zaroff, and the grandson of Nimrod and Artemis. He claims to hold the chair of Cynegenics at the University of Tyr-Kainkou.

All of Razoff's family's names are references to hunting. A hunter named General Zaroff appears in the short story, The Most Dangerous Game, the plot of which bears some resemblance to Rayman's encounter with Razoff in the Bog of Murk. In the Old Testament, Nimrod, who was said to be responsible for the construction of the Tower of Babel, is referred to as "a mighty hunter before the Lord". And in Greek mythology, Artemis was the goddess of hunting (it is, however, unknown if this reference to a goddess is of any real significance or connection to other deities of the Glade of Dreams such as Polokus).

Relations to other characters
Begoniax - Begoniax seems to have a crush on him for unexplained reasons.

Globox - Razoff once tried to kill Globox, who ended up in the mansion by mistake, after the Teensie Highway was broken.

Rayman - Razoff tried to kill Rayman after he came into Razoff's castle attempting to save Globox.

The Hoodlums - The Hoodlums are Razoff's enemies too. When Globox ended up in the mansion, André ended there too, which means that Razoff actually held André captured, and the Hoodlums were trying to get him back. In the Rayman 3 minigame, Commando, the player controls Razoff as he fends off trespassing Hoodlums. In another minigame, Razoff Circus, the player controls him to shoot targets at pictures of enemies such as Rayman and Globox, and the Hoodlums.
Menezis is a minigame found at the end of Rayman 2: The Great Escape on the PC. It is a basic space shooter where flying letters and numbers must be shot. It may be accessed if the player waits until the end of the game credits.

You control a flying E that may shoot commas by pressing the shoot button (the space bar)
You can defend yourself from enemy fire by pressing the jump button (the A key). Doing this causes the letter E to grow in size, absorbing enemy bullets (dots) without taking damage. You can only do this if you have enough exclamation marks in the bottom right corner of the screen, as defending yourself costs one !. Additional !s can be earned by colliding with them when they appear on the playing field.

Your letter can only take 3 hits before your game is over. You can earn additional lives with every 100 points. Your lives are shown in the top left corner of the screen.

Enemies
There are three kinds of enemies in this game:
*The letter X: these come in two types:A type which flies by and shoots bullets and a type which tries to 'kamikaze-fly' into you while shooting bullets.
*The letter O: these fire bullets in all directions, creating a spiral shape of bullets which you have to avoid with your E. These crawl by really slowly.
*The number 8:these reside at the far left of the screen while periodically shooting large amounts of bullets in a certain direction.
The first instance of parachuting Robo-Pirates is in the final area of the Fairy's Glade, where they attack Rayman as he rises through the air currents.

Parachuting Pirate battles are treated as some sort of "major battles" and in most cases Rayman is required to defeat every wave of Robo-Pirates to continue. Twice, however, these ambushes are treated as full-thrown mini-boss battles: once in the Bayou (when Rayman finds Bzzit) and near the end of the Canopy (during Rayman's battle against the warship). The appearance of sky-borne pirates is always marked by a special, somewhat dramatic battle theme that plays until all the pirates have been defeated.

The Chair Ride, called Rollercoaster Challenge in Revolution is a mini-game level from Rayman 2: Revolution, though prior to the game in Rayman 2: The Great Escape it was the first segment of the Top of the World.

Description
Located deep in the swamp is a special chair--anybody who rides it finds themselves on a wild rollarcoaster ride through many dangerous obstacles. In Rayman 2, the ride passes through a forest and some pipes (it is also well to note that in Rayman 2 the ride begins in a Canopy-like setting instead of a swamp). In Revolution, the ride passes through a forest and then arrives at a seaside cliff covered in barren rock and dead trees. In both versions, many pirate fortresses stand in the chair's way.

As a Level
The chair ride is a unique segment of the game in which the player must tilt the control stick/pad left or right to spin a speeding chair either clockwise or counter-clockwise so as to avoid incoming obstacles. However, the story behind the chair is different depending on the version.

Rayman 2/Rayman DS
Before Rayman arrives at the beginning of the Top of the World level, an Ape Pirate rides the chair out of a hidden Robo-Pirate Fortress. It lands on a small cliff with a crash, and gets up just as Rayman arrives via a Magic Spiral Door. The Ape Pirate is quick to attack Rayman, but Rayman dodges onto the chair. Suddenly the chair takes off, rendering Rayman almost helpless. He must dodge pipes, fortresses, lasers, and grates before he may successfully arrive at the fortress.

Revolution
Before Rayman may request that Ly the Fairy takes him to the Chair Ride, Rayman must have collected 10 Familiar Spirits. Afterwards, the Chair Ride will always be available at Ly's House, Ly's Stele, and Ly's Stone.

After Ly transports Rayman to the swamp, Rayman must leap onto a speeding chair. The chair sends him on a wild ride through forests, mountains, and other scenic locations. To successfully complete the level, however, Rayman must collect every Red Lum -if he misses even one, completing the ride will not count and he must start over again without any Red Lums.

The Chair Ride is Rayman's first opportunity to increase his HP bar in Revolution. However, to do so, every Red Lum must be collected. The Chair Ride in Revolution is notably harder than its Rayman 2 counterpart, especially due to this added requirement.

*The number 8:these reside at the far left of the screen while periodically shooting large ammounts of bullets in a certain direction.

Menezis is a minigame found at the end of Rayman 2: The Great Escape on the PC. It is a basic space shooter where flying letters and numbers must be shot. It may be accessed if the player waits until the end of the game credits.

You are a flying 'E' that may shoot 'commas' by pressing the shoot button (the space bar)
You can defend yourself from enemy fire by pressing the jump button (the A key). Doing this causes the letter E to grow in size, absorbing enemy bullets (dots) without taking damage. You can only do this if you have enough exclamation marks in the bottom right corner of the screen, as defending yourself costs one '!'.

Your letter can only take 3 hits before your game is over. You can earn additional lives with every 100 points.

Enemies
There are three kinds of enemies in this game:
*The letter X: these come in two types:A type which flies by and shoots bullets and a type which tries to 'kamikaze-fly' into you while shooting bullets
*The letter O: these fire bullets in all directions, creating a spiral shape of bullets which you have to avoid with your E.
*The number 8:these reside at the far left of the screen while periodically shooting large ammounts of bullets in a certain direction.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape is the second major game in the Rayman series, and is the sequel to Rayman. It was first released in 1999 for the Nintendo 64 and was followed by ports for the Sega Dreamcast, PC, and Sony PlayStation, with each port being different in its own way perhaps due to the specifications of each console. It was also the first 3D game of the series, and introduced many brand new major characters, though featured almost none from its predecessor. Rayman 2: The Great Escape is often abbreviated as Rayman 2 or (to avoid confusion with the similarly named Rayman 2: Revolution) R2.

Early production
Very recently, it was revealed that Rayman 2 was first developed to be a 2D platforming game in the same vein as Rayman, for the Sony PlayStation and the Sega Saturn . Screenshots and videos suggested that the game was still going to be about a robot invasion as it featured enemies similar to the Robo-Pirates, and it also featured background platforming - using a device similar to a shower head and a toilet flush, Rayman could teleport from the foreground to the background. One video in particular also featured a female character with red hair that appears to be Betilla the Fairy.

The whole of this game was cancelled in favour of the 3D version it became, though a playable prototype (version 01.12d) featuring one level is included in the PlayStation version of Rayman 2, and unlocked if the player collects at least 720 Yellow Lums out of 800. It was recently discovered that this prototype was finished on May 31st 1996 and was sent to the Playstation RayMan 2 team for review.

Gameplay
The gameplay in Rayman 2 is somewhat similar to that of Rayman, though this time Rayman starts with a few powers to defend himself, one of which is given to him by Globox who is introduced at the very beginning. The aim of the game is to rescue all of the Yellow Lums that have been scattered following the explosion of the Primordial Core, and the creatures that have been imprisoned in cages, while defeating any Robo-Pirates that stand in Rayman's way.

Main Characters
The Good Guys
*Rayman - The hero and protagonist of the game
*Globox - Rayman's best friend and Uglette's husband
*Ly the Fairy - Rayman's friend and powerful ally
*Murfy - Serves as an "instructor"-type character
*The Teensies - Keepers of the Hall of Doors
*Clark - A friend of Rayman's

The Bad Guys
*Admiral Razorbeard - The villain of the game
*Robo-Pirate Army - Razorbeard's army

Environment
Unlike Rayman, Rayman 2 is not divided into certain themed worlds, but rather a trail of 20 different locations, none of which are as surreal as its predecessor's, but are still dissimilar to the real world. The levels are played in a linear fashion in a World Map known as the Hall of Doors (Isle of Doors in the Dreamcast version), with most levels following a single path (though the Cave of Bad Dreams, Walk of Life, and Walk of Power are on side-paths). The player is able to backtrack to past levels if he or she wishes, and can move on to the final stage without breaking all of the cages.

Hack
It is possible to run the game under higher resolutions than 1024x768 by a simple hack.
By editing the file C:\WINDOWS\UbiSoft\ubi.in with a basic text editor, you'll have something like this
The GLI_Mode line defines the resolution of the game. You'll just have to replace "1024 x 768" by "1440 x 900" to run the game in 1440x900 instead of the default 1024x768.

Caution: Modifying the other values may crash the game.

Promotion
UbiSoft promoted Rayman 2 with many toys and even a cartoon. There were YoYos, cell phone covers, a PlayStation 2 remote, a version of the game with a figure, and Happy Meal toys.

Cartoon
Main Article: Rayman: The Animated Series

McDonald's
UbiSoft joined with McDonald's to make a happy meal with Rayman toys. These toys were a Rayman rolling on a walking shell, Rayman on a plum with spinning helicopter hair, a lighting up cage, a sound making Henchman 800, a wobbling Globox and Ly.

Tonic Trouble
Characters from each game made cameo appearances in the other game. In Tonic Trouble, Rayman would be seen during the game's end credits. In Rayman 2, a salesman who previously appeared in the intro sequence of the PC version of Tonic Trouble sells the Grolgoth to Razorbeard late in the game. Tonic Trouble was worked on (though not developed) by Michel Ancel, used the Rayman 2 engine, originally appeared on the same platforms as Rayman 2, and was also released by Ubisoft, giving reason for the crossovers, though Tonic Trouble had not fared well critically or commercially, whereas Rayman 2 became successful in both areas.

Remakes
*Rayman 2: Revolution - PlayStation 2 remake that was essentially a slightly more difficult version of the original, with added levels, enemies, and a new free-roaming feature.
*Rayman DS - DS remake identical to the original N64 version, though many glitches and bugs were included that were not present in the original.

These toys were a Rayman rolling on a walking shell, Rayman on a plum with spinning helicopter hair, a light making cage, a sound making Henchmen 800, a wobbling Globox, and Ly.

The Grolgoth is a giant robot which Razorbeard uses to put a stop to Rayman at the Crow's Nest. It is also the final boss of Rayman 2 and the GBA version of Rayman 3.

Description
At a very late point in Rayman 2, Razorbeard is visited by a General (also known from another Ubisoft game called 'Tonic Trouble') who advertises the Grolgoth and it's functions to him. The Admiral pictures the contraption with Rayman in its deadly grasp and killing him, and decides to buy it from the General. He then prepares for his attack while Rayman is going through the Prison Ship. It is a large machine that is basicly made of a large, orange and red tube or 'can', having bendable arms and legs, similar to the Robo-Pirates. The top of the 'can', can extend from the body and reveal an entrance to this robotic marvel. At the bottom is located a chair, from which Razorbeard is controlling the machine. At its right hand, it has a cannon, which fires propelling bombs, that Rayman will have to shoot back at the Grolgoth to hurt it. The other hand, has a hook, which appearently doesnt see any use in the battle. It can also shoot large energy balls from its feet. According to the General, "It does everything, except the dishes".

Final Battle, First Phase
Razorbeard Places the Grolgoth at the top of the Buccaneer's mast. He also places Globox, dangling from a large elevator's antenna. Before Razorbeard shoots Globox down, Rayman appears through the elevator, stating that Razorbeard shall leave Globox alone. Razorbeard takes advantage of Rayman's position and shoots down the elevator. As Razorbeard believes himself victorious, Rayman pulls himself back up on the platform and ensures that Globox is alive as well. Then the fight begins...

The Grolgoth is immune to Rayman's shots, and starts with heavy attacks such as shooting homing bombs, fast energy balls and trying to jump on Rayman, squashing him. Rayman will have to shoot the homing bombs back on the Grolgoth, but straight on, otherwise the Grolgoth will evade them.

Final Battle, Phase Two
After Rayman has hit the Grolgoth three times, a cutscene starts where Razorbeard tries to make the Grolgoth do a large jump and squash Rayman, but appearently jumps too short and ruins the platform on which the fight is sequenced. Both Rayman and Razorbeard fall down into what appears to be the ship's engine, filled with boiling lava.

Rayman is saved by Ly, who sends a silver lum to pick up Rayman in mid air, and transports him safely to a small pipe, sticking out of the lava, on which a friendly, Flying Shell has been stationed. Ly's face appears in a window of energy, where she tells Rayman that Polokus has eliminated the Robo-Pirates on land and that the slaves have escaped (with the help of Rayman, seen in the PS1, PS2 and Dreamcast version of the game). Rayman discovers that Razorbeard survived the fall, hanging between two wooden poles going up the engine's walls.

Rayman flies on the Shell, both having to find ammo hidden inside the engine and avoid homing energy balls, Razorbeard shoots after Rayman. Rayman must use the ammo to shoot energy balls at the Grolgoth's hands, to make it slip and fall into the lava. when the Grolgoth is lying in the lava, it loses an amount of health, but the metal also heats up, making the hull vulnerable to Rayman's ammo. Should Rayman get hit just once, his Shell will explode and the battle begins as new from phase 2. When Razorbeard reaches 20% health, he will climb up to the top of the engine and raise the level of lava. When Razorbeard's health reaches 0, the Grolgoth stalls and falls into the lava. Razorbeard crawls out, 'wearing' an escape pod. Before abandoning the Buccaneer, he says: "I've saved one last little surprise for you", and triggers a bomb-counter at the Grolgoth's control panel. Razorbeard escapes and Rayman barely has time to react before the ship explodes.

PS1 Version
In the PS1 version of Rayman 2, the second phase is extremely different from the other versions. After the cutscene where Rayman and Razorbeard fall down, into to the engine, Rayman will still fly a missile, but now through a long pipe, with controls limited to 2D movement. The Grolgoth will be flying backwards, facing Rayman. Rayman can shoot normally from the missile, but his shots only hurt Razorbeard to lose about 0,5% health. Razorbeard will either shoot slow moving energy balls, that Rayman must avoid, or propell bombs after Rayman, which he again must shoot back at the Grolgoth. Should Rayman get hit, he will not die, but lose health as normal. Every time Razorbeard has fired 6 propelling bombs, he will cast a number of mines, filling 90% of the screen. Rayman must find a spot to pass through without getting hit. After the Grolgoth has reached 30% health, it begins to cast homing missiles, which will fly towards Rayman. Rayman must dodge them, where after they will appear behind him, still homing, and Rayman has to point himself (and the homing missile) towards Razorbeard, so that the homing missile will hit the Grolgoth. Razorbeard can avoid the missiles if they are too far to the sides of the Grolgoth. When Razorbeard's health reaches 0, the final cutscene begins as normal.

Trivia
In the PC and PS2 versions of Rayman 2 there is one major error regarding phase two: the location is too small. In the cutscene, the place was gigantic, and the Grolgoth was very big as well (as it should be). Both Rayman and the Missile were small enough to stand on the sticking-out pipe. After the beginning of the battle, this same pipe is even smaller (in width) than Rayman, and the Grolgoth is suddenly half the size as in the cutscene. In the cutscene, that shows after defeating the Grolgoth, everything is back to it's original size again.

In Rayman: Revolution there is another glitch: in the cutscenes, the Missile is gray of colour and looks like the flying one from 'The Prison Ship'. During the battle, it is yellow, like the common Walking Shell.

After the cutscene where Rayman and Razorbeard falls into down to the engine, Rayman will still fly a missile, but now through a long pipe, with controls limited to 2D movement. The Grolgoth as well will be flying backwards, facing Rayman. Rayman can shoot normally from the missile, but his shots only hurts Razorbeard to lose about 0,5% health. Razorbeard will either shoot slow moving energy balls, that Rayman must avoid, or propelling bombs after Rayman, that he again must shoot back at the Grolgoth. Should Rayman get hit, he will not die, but lose health as normal. Everytime Razorbeard has fired 6 propelling bombs, he will cast a number of mines, filling 90% of the screen. Rayman must find a spot to pass through without getting hit. After the Grolgoth has reached 30% health, it begins to cast homing missiles, that will fly towards Rayman.

Trivia
In PC and PS2 versions of Rayman 2 there is one mayor error with phase two: the location is too small. In the cutscene, the place was giant, and Grolgoth was very big as well (as it should be). Both Rayman and the Missile was small enough to stand on the sticking pipe. After the beginning of the battle, this same pipe was even smaller (in width) than Rayman, and the Grolgoth was suddenly half the size, than in the cutscene. In the cutscene, that shows after defeating the Grolgoth, Rayman and the Missile are again smaller than Razorbeard and the Grolgoth.

In Rayman: Revolution there is another glitch: in cutscenes, Missile has gray color and look like this flying one from The Prison Ship level. In battle, it has yellow collor, like common Walking Shell.

Final Battle, Phase Two
After Rayman has hit the Grolgoth three times, a cutscene starts where Razorbeard tries to make the Grolgoth do a far jump and squash Rayman, but appearently jumps too short and ruins the platform on which the fight is sequensed. Both Rayman and Razorbeard falls down into what has to be the ships engine, filled with boiling lava.

Rayman is being saved by Ly, who sends an energy ball to pick up Rayman in mid air, and transporting him safely to a small pipe, pointing out of the lava, on which a friendly, Flying Shell appearently has been stationed. Ly's face appears in a window of energy, where she tells Rayman that Polokus has eliminated the Robo-Pirates on land and that the slaves has escaped (with the help of Rayman, seen in the PS1, PS2 and Dreamcast version of the game). Rayman discovers that Razorbeard survived the fall, hanging between two pipes going up one of the engines walls.

Rayman flies on the Shell, both having to find ammo hidden inside the engine and avoid homing energy balls, Razorbeard shoots after Rayman. Rayman must use the ammo to shoot energy balls at the Grolgoth's hands, to make it slip and fall into the lava. when the Grolgoth is lying in the lava, it loses an amount of health, but the metal also heats up, making the hull voulnable to Rayman's ammo. When Razorbeard's health reaches 0, the Grolgoth brakes and falls into the lava. Razorbeard crawls out, apparently 'wearing' an escape pod. Before abandoning the Buccaneer, he says: "I've saved one last little surprise for you", and triggers a bomb-counter at the Grolgoth's control panel.
The Crow's Nest is the final level in Rayman 2: The Great Escape, where Rayman finally takes on Admiral Razorbeard and attempts to save Globox.

Phase 1
Situated at the highest point of the Buccaneer, the Grolgoth is prepared, and Razorbeard gets ready for Rayman to arrive while using Globox, who is being hung upside down, as live bait. Rayman eventually arrives, and is subsequently shot by one of the Grolgoth's bombs, though both Rayman and Globox survive the shot.

The first phase of the final fight begins, with the Grolgoth shooting bombs which trip it up if Rayman shoots and knocks them back at it, and attempts to squash Rayman, as well as shooting energy from its feet. After it is knocked down three times, Razorbeard attempts to take a giant jump and crush Rayman, but he misses and causes the floor to cave in. Rayman then falls with them.

Phase 2
Far away from the Buccaneer, Ly the Fairy hears Rayman screaming for dear life, and sends a Silver Lum to his location which saves him from falling into lava. The Lum catches him and gently guides him to safety, where he finds a Flying Shell. An image of Ly then appears to tell him about how the Robo-Pirates are now defeated and encourages him to defeat Razorbeard.

Rayman then turns around to see that Razorbeard and the Grolgoth are still alive, and the second phase of the battle begins. In a room full of lava, his Grolgoth keeps itself away from the lava by holding itself up on two wooden posts and attacks by shooting heat seeking missiles as the battle goes on. Rayman attacks by finding an energy sphere in either of two tunnels, and shoots at each arm, causing the Grolgoth to fall in the lava. Eventually, Razorbeard abandons the Grolgoth and escapes, setting a five-second time bomb that explodes the entire Buccaneer with Rayman still in it.

In the area where Rayman encountered Polokus earlier in the game, everybody mourns over all they could find left of Rayman; his left shoe. But suddenly, the shoe starts glowing, and Rayman emerges from the trees nearby, holding a walking stick in his shoe's absence. The shoe bounces back to Rayman, and the Baby Globoxes run up to Rayman and hug him, happy for him to be alive, while everyone else cheers.
The most fanatic soldiers in the war to free the Dark Lum Lord are the Hoodblasters, known for the mighty boomsticks they tout with tyrannical authority. These grifty troops are the grunts of the Hoodlum Army and feature some of the most scattershot shooting skills ever seen. While off-duty, Hoodblasters live for the cutthroat competition of frog shooting tournaments.
Hoodblasters are the most common enemies and Hoodlums in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc and Rayman: Hoodlums' Revenge. They use two types of shotguns to attack Rayman and wear hats. Hoodblasters can be found in most places at Rayman's world at the Crossroads of Dreams. They wear orange clothings and their eyes are red or white.
Parachuting Pirates (name is a conjecture based on appearance) are a special variety of Henchman 800 from Rayman 2: Revolution. In many parts of the game, Henchman 800 of various ranks (most commonly green and purple ranks) will parachute down from the sky or from a warship to attack Rayman in numbers.

They were thought to be unique to Rayman Revolution, but a Parachuting Pirate also appears in the PC and N64 versions of Rayman 2: the Great Escape.
It appears in the Tomb of the Ancients and is purple of rank.
When flying with the keg, and when you have the option to take another route through a pipe, go through the pipe.
Then, after another flight with a keg, on a wooden bridge with a floating barrel under it, a Parachuting Pirate can be seen (and heard: when appearing, it makes a sound the ninja pirate also makes when appearing (perhaps it's opening it's parachute) and shortly after that, it makes some kind of electrical buzzing noise (this could also be interpreted as a sound the chains of the parachute make when they are cut loose and scrape the barrel of the pirate's gun))
Rayman is the main protagonist in the Ubisoft video game series of the same name. He is the creation of French game designer Michel Ancel (who had first designed Rayman in the early 90's), and with his trademark lack of limbs and Helicopter power, he has become a popular and recognisable video games character over the past decade, making his debut in 1995 on the Atari Jaguar and appearing in several titles up for many different platforms until the present day.

Character description
Appearance
Rayman was originally designed to be just an athletic character and to have a full body, but because it could not be fully rendered even on games consoles in the mid-90's, he was left without arms, legs and a neck - his hands, feet and head float around his body. He has a huge round nose, and has strawberry blonde hair which he divides into two (three in Rayman) fronds that are held up to resemble ears. He often uses this as a helicopter, and sometimes to fly whenever he is able to. His eyes are dark blue in colour, though in most official artwork they are coloured black, and two pictures in Rayman showed him with lighter blue eyes. While Rayman is unique in most of the games, other members of his species are seen in Rayman, notably the Magician and Tarayzan.

Rayman is almost always seen in white gloves and a purple shirt with a mysterious white ring on the chest, which absorbs energy from the Fairies and connects to the altars of the Four Masks of Polokus in Rayman 2. Up until Rayman 3, he wears a red neckerchief, which was then replaced with a red hood. He also wears shoes that are typically yellow and white, though the actual designs change throughout the series. Rayman Raving Rabbids is mostly where he is seen wearing different clothing that sometimes looks like he has knees, such as the Disco costume.

Physical
Rayman is a very laid back character, as he is often seen snoozing either on a hammock or up against a tree, but he is also very athletic and shows great gymnastic skills, especially since Rayman 2. He is also strong enough to carry things such as plums, kegs and even Baby Globoxes. However, he started out as a poor swimmer, as in the original Rayman he would lose a life the instant he'd fall into any body of liquid, but he soon develops this skill fast by the time Rayman 2 is set in. In Rayman Revolution he is taught this by Murfy and a Baby Globox.

Personality
Rayman's true personality isn't very well looked into throughout the series, though most of the time he is a cheerful character with a good sense of humour. He is also very helpful, and is willing to take on whatever challenges face him for the sake of the safety and harmony of his world. Sometimes he can be a little childish, especially in Rayman 1, as he often pulls grimaces as a form of defence. Lately though he has become somewhat self absorbed, especially in Rayman Raving Rabbids, as the Rabbids start to treat him like a celebrity during his captivity, though he remembers and worries about the Baby Globoxes that he left behind. That however seems to be put behind him as the Rabbids continue to harass him in Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party.

Biography
The Original Story of Rayman
Very little is known about Rayman's early life, though in an early advertisment for the Jaguar version of Rayman, the story told of a young boy named Jimmy that had been sucked into a world he had created on his computer called "Hereitscool", and transformed into the limbless wonder. This original plot was pulled from the final product, and Rayman was instead made to be the guardian of his world. However, it is unknown as to why exactly Rayman and all of the other characters in the first game are limbless other than for technical reasons.

No Problem!
Rayman is first seen having fun with the Electoons in his peaceful world, until Mr. Dark comes along to kidnap the Great Protoon. He was then seen asleep in a hammock, where he lazily speaks the words "No problem", in response to his calls from the Magician to save the world from the terror caused by this mysterious villain. At that time, he apparently lived by the sea in what looks like a shipwrecked boat, though his home is never fully seen. He then travels through six different lands in search of Mr Dark's Dare, where he challenges and defeats Mr. Dark and his hybrids.

Rayman the Teacher
Main Article: Rayman Junior

From 1996, Rayman appeared in several educational computer games designed especially for children, notably a remake of the original Rayman in which the player has to solve several reading and mathematics questions throughout modified versions of the original levels. This game had several names, and was later released for the PlayStation in 2000 as Rayman Junior.

Other educational Rayman games included the following:

* Rayman Brain Games
* Amazing Learning Games with Rayman
* Rayman Activity Center
* Rayman Premiers Clics
* Rayman Éveil
The Glade of Dreams
The Glade of Dreams is the world in which the Rayman games are set. The original Rayman game was set in a valley inhabited by limbless creatures like Rayman, and seemed to be in a coastal or island area. The sequel, Rayman 2: The Great Escape , offers little information about the geography of the Glade, but its remake, Rayman Revolution , shows that all locations seen in Rayman 2 are part of a large landmass called The Front. In Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc , Rayman travels around the world via Teensie Highways, so little new information is revealed about his world in this game either. According to a number of official sources, Rayman was first found either washed up on the shores of the Glade of Dreams, or sleeping peacefully under a palm tree and found by fishermen. Either way, the people of this land were soon convinced of his good intentions (especially after he first saved the world from Mr Dark), and supposedly he had befriended the likes of Globox and Ly before Rayman 2 took place.

Pirates!
Main Articles: Rayman 2: The Great Escape, Rayman Revolution, and Rayman DS

Now it was time for Rayman to show his heroism. Admiral Razorbeard and his Robo-Pirate army soon attacked and in the Great Forest, Rayman and Globox fought off a bunch of them. Suddenly, Rayman's powers disappeared and Ly telepathically communicated with him to tell him that the Heart of the World had been smashed into 1000 pieces called Lums, meaning Rayman and Ly's powers had disappeared. Then Rayman was captured and he told a frightened Globox to go to Ly for help. Rayman was put in a jail cell and Globox himself soon arrived, giving him a Silver Lum from Ly. The Silver Lum gave him back the power to shoot his magic fist and he used to escape. Globox accidentally knocked Rayman off the ship and they both go plunging towards the ground.

On his journey to find Ly, Rayman meets Murfy, the Grand Minimus Teensies, the Baby Globoxes, and more. He soon finds Ly, who gives him the grapple power back and tells him he needs to find the four masks of Polokus to reawaken Polokus himself. On his journey to collect them, Rayman carried out many tasks such as finding the Elixir of Life to cure Clark, rescuing many friends from captivity and even defeating the guardians of the masks. Eventually, he collected all four and was taken to the Prison Ship to defeat Razorbeard. After beating him, Razorbeard destroyed the Prison Ship and Rayman was believed to have died in the explosion, with the only thing left of him being his left foot. At his funeral, Rayman arrived almost safe and sound and was reunited with his foot, and after a long and difficult journey, he was told to rest.

A fugitive in Aeropolis
Main Article: Rayman: The Animated Series

Rigatoni, the villainous boss of an intergalatic circus, captures Rayman and takes him to his circus. Rayman, however, does not take this and jokes around with Razorbeard, who is now portrayed as Rigatoni's servant. Rayman finds out how badly the other circus freaks are being treated and helps them escape. Angered, Rigatoni phones Inspector Grub and tells him to find Rayman and his new friends and bring them back. Meanwhile, outside the vast city of Aeropolis, Rayman and the gang see an old man struggling to fix a car. The man promises he'll let them have the car if they can fix it and Cookie (one of the other fugitives) successfully manages to do so. After evading Inspector Grub, they seek refuge in what is actually the detective's house.

Let the competition begin!
Main Article: Rayman M

Rayman and his friends and foes returned for a competition to see who actually was the best. The competition contained two parts: Racing and Battle. Rayman was one of the main competitors in these competitions. Even Razorbeard is back because he gave his resignation to Rigatoni and gathered his army of Robo-Pirates.

When Razorbeard strikes back at the Glades of Dreams, it is up to Rayman to save his friends yet again. Rayman and Globox talk about how Globox was saving the Teensies when he accidentally swallowed a Black Lum. Suddenly, Globox vanishes and Rayman goes looking for him. Facing similar events to Rayman 2, Rayman soon battles Razorbeard's machine, the Grolgoth, once more and defeats Razorbeard.

Later, Globox tells his children that he saved the world, with a little help from Rayman.

A Wacky Adventure
Main Article: Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc

Rayman and his best friend Globox are napping in the Crossroads of Dreams. Rayman's hands suddenly come to life and walk off. They see a Red Lum and scare it by making shadow puppets. The Red Lum is scared so much that it turns into the Dark Lum Lord Andre, who goes and creates his Hoodlum army, attempting to destroy the Heart of the World.

Eager in his intents, he storms through the door, unaware that Rayman and Globox had already arrived there. Globox, standing in front of the door, screams and swallows Andre, where Andre soon decides to reside. From there, Rayman and Globox visit three different doctors. The third decides to meet with the first two, where they could cooperatively attempt to extract Andre, and succeed. Andre then visits the fallen Knaaren warrior Reflux, where he encourages him to follow through with his new plot. Reflux, ashamed of his defeat, takes well to the offer and, once more, pursues his goals of power and might.

After Rayman and Globox follow the recently-formed duo throughout several different locations, they finally arrive at the Tower of the Leptys, where Reflux was waiting, now with the power of Leptys, to once again face his enemy. Following his final defeat (where he then crystallizes and shatters), Andre is converted to a Red Lum again, triggering all other Black Lums to do the same.

Revenge of André
Even though André had been expelled from Globox's body, his spirit still remained within him. The spirit of André summoned back the Hoodlums to get their revenge on the world for being defeated. One of their plans was to create a clone of Reflux to kill Rayman.

Rayman and Globox were napping in the Clearleaf Forest, when Globox heard a strange sound and went to follow it, only to be captured by the Hoodlums. Rayman awoke later that afternoon to find Globox missing, and went searching for him with the help of Murfy, fighting the Hoodlums along the way and destroying Reflux's plum juice factory. Rayman later reunited with Globox as he fought the wily witch Begoniax.

As the duo went further, Rayman started noticing Globox's strange split personality, the other side of him being very cruel and rude. When he defeated the Fire Monster, André's spirit announced his full possession over Globox, all to Rayman's shock and surprise.

Eventually, Rayman defeated the Reflux Clone, expelling André's evil spirit from an unconscious Globox. Globox then awoke, back to his normal self, and the two walked off together in the forest, Rayman stating they made a great team.

The Bunny Invasion
One day, Rayman decided to take a few baby Globoxes out for a picnic, which was disrupted by the sudden invasion of a species new to him - the Rabbids. He and the babies were captured and taken to a Colosseum, where he became the Rabbids' source of entertainment. He would have to pass their many challenges for 15 days before he escaped using the plungers he had earned after each day of success. He soon realised that he had left the babies behind, and tried to return for them through a hole a rabbid had made, but he got stuck for some time.

Soon after this event, Rayman learns that the Rabbids are planning to take over Earth, and attempts to infiltrate them by dressing up as one and imitating their behaviour, while following them all over the world and collecting as much information as possible to use as a warning to the Earth's inhabitants.

Currently he is still being harassed by the Rabbids, as he had to see refuge in what may be his second home after being chased by a small group of them. However, they mysteriously travel into the television set inside and harass him and even creatures living outside the home even more for an entire week.

Trivia
* When Rayman 2 was released in Japan and China, Rayman's purple clothes and the stripes on Ly's suit had to be changed to blue, because in those countries purple is the "colour of the dead".
* One of Rayman's hobbies is painting, which was revealed at a later point in Rayman 1 and in Rayman Junior.
* Rayman also seems to like basketball. In Rayman 2, he would sometimes take his body off and play with it like a basketball whenever he is left idle. Also, in the GBA version of Rayman 3 if the player decided to continue at the "Game Over" screen, Rayman would throw his body through a basketball net and catch it.
* Some of Rayman's gymnastic skills include handstands, somersaults and back flips.
* Rayman appears in the credits of Tonic Trouble.
A piranha is a type of flesh-eating fish that lurks in the murky waters of Rayman's world. They can be found in all three major Rayman platformers, with a different behaviour though.

In Rayman
In the original Rayman, they are found only in Dream Forest, and fly up from the water with their helicopter caudal fin. If Rayman touches them he loses a hit point, and if he's unlucky, he could be pushed into the water and lose a life. Rayman can defend himself from piranhas by punching or shooting them, which shatters their sharp teeth and then defeats them. A single punch can get rid of them.

In Rayman 2
In Rayman 2, they are found in any body of water that Rayman cannot swim in, usually polluted or stagnated water, or even acid. Two major kinds of piranhas live in those places: the small ones that devour Rayman when he falls into water, and the bigger ones that jump from water and try to bite him. A single energy ball can get rid of the second kind.

In Rayman 3
They are also present in all versions of Rayman 3, mainly in the Bog of Murk, but while Rayman can actually swim in the dirty waters they live in, they will deplete his energy very quickly and cause a game over. We can meet a "jumping" version too, in the Clearleaf Forest, in the phase where Globox ascends the waterfall. Oddly, they can jump from the waterfall's water in contradiction with physics laws. Jumping Pirahna's can also be found in the Bog of Murk, where they often jump over logs Rayman has to walk across.

In Rayman Raving Rabbids (GBA), they appear in the forest levels, looking identical to the ones in the first game. The Rayman 3 variations also appear in Rayman: Hoodlums' Revenge.

In Rayman Raving Rabbids (GBA)
In Rayman Raving Rabbids (GBA), they appear in the forest levels, looking identical to the ones in the first game. The Rayman 3 variations also appear in Rayman: Hoodlums' Revenge.
A Zombie Chicken is an enemy found in the gloomier parts of the world in Rayman 2. They can also be seen in the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman 3 and as well as very briefly in the console versions. More ghostly versions can also be seen floating around in the First Ruins track in Rayman M. They are the result of hens laying dead eggs out of terror from the events caused by the Robo-Pirates.

Appearance
They have slightly deformed chicken beaks with cartoony eyes and gray-brown feathers on their heads. They wear long, ripped, brown cloaks and their arms look like human skeleton ones that are bent in a haunting way.

There are two different kinds of Zombie Chickens in the PC version of Rayman 2.
*A kind with eyes
*A kind with hollow eye sockets

Both kinds can be found in the Tomb of the Ancients

History
When the Robo-Pirates arrived, the hens were so terrified they laid eggs which contained Zombie Chickens.

They appeared in Rayman 2 in the swamp levels, appearing from the ground or swamp water and floating towards you to hurt you. They appear again with the same roles in the portable versions of Rayman 2 and Rayman 3. They reappeared in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc as more ghostly creatures in the Desert of the Knaaren, and make you drop eggs you had to carry somewhere. They also had their own frightening sounding theme whenever a bunch of them appeared, making them more creepier than before.

Appearances in Rayman 2

At least, here is the prove that the Parachuting Pirate was one of the original ideas of the Rayman 2 designers!
Rayman Raving Rabbids is a handheld version of Rayman Raving Rabbids that was released for the Game Boy Advance in 2006. Unlike the console version of the game, this is a 2D platformer that is in the same vein as Rayman 3 on Game Boy Advance.

Plot
Rayman is having a nap when the Rabbids suddenly appear and take Rayman to a jail cell, taking away his hands. With the help of Murfy, he manages to get his hands back and escape the jail, but not before fighting Pink's new toy: a giant Antitoon like being. After defeating it, Ly comes and gives Rayman a Gangsta costume which he can use to stomp the ground. At the village, Ly tells Rayman how the Rabbids used to be sweet, innocent creatures who were so kind the other animals made fun of them. Eventually the Rabbids could not take this anymore and planned their revenge. Rayman travels through five different worlds, beating the Rabbids and collecting more costumes, and eventually faces the Rabbids Mothership. Rayman stops the mothership and brings peace back to the world.

Characters
*Rayman: Rayman is back to save his world yet again. With all new powers, he is ready to defeat the Rabbids.
*Murfy: Murfy helps Rayman by telling him what things do and about them. He is not as rude as he was in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc but is still very jokey about things.
*Ly: Ly is a magical fairy who gives Rayman new costumes with powers that will help him throughout his adventure.
*Globox: Globox only makes a cameo in this game. At the first level in the jail cell, by hitting a switch you can free him from captivity.
*King Minimus & the Teensies: The Teensies, like Globox, only make a cameo role. By hitting a switch, you can free him from captivity.
*The Rabbids: The Rabbids are the main enemy of the game. They used to be kind and caring creatures, but the other animals made fun of them and they soon had enough. They have been planning this attack since Rayman 1 and now they have finally striked.

Description
The Marshlands are a cluster of dense forest and murky swamps located near the Minisaurus Plains in an area far beyond the forest and the Fairy's Glade. From its entrance, one may head left to access the Bayou and right to access the Marshes of Awakening. Unfortunately, the solid footing that connected the Marshland gates to these areas have long since vanished. Unless one may swim in the piranha-infested waters or swing from Purple Lums, the Marshlands are a dead-end.

As a Level
The Marshlands is one of the areas located in the Minisaurus Plains region of the Front. It is unable to be traversed until Rayman has cleared the Fairy's Glade due to the necessarity of swinging from Purple Lums.

The first time Rayman marches down to the Marshlands, he only must head left into the bayou, though he is entirely capable of entering the then-optional marshes. Following Rayman's adventure in the Menhir Hills, the Marshlands is guarded by low-ranking (but re-spawning) Robo-Pirates exitting the Fairy's Glade. It is at this point that the path right becomes a requirement.
The murky bayou is a river flowing through the Marshlands assumably flowing to or out of the Marshes of Awakening. Surrounding the swamp is an intensely dense forest. The waters are haunted by Zombie Chickens.

Rickety bridges make the bayou difficult to cross; just a few steps on them can make them collapse into the piranha-infested waters. Occasionally, barrels float down the river. These barrels may be used as makeshift boats.

One tree in the swamp in particular resembles a demon, complete with flame-lit eyes.

As a Level
Bzzit Captured
(note: the following is Revolution only)
Following Rayman's triumph in rescuing Ly the Fairy, the Teensie in the Minisaurus Plains Teensie Circle tells Rayman that one of Polokus' masks may be found on the Lost Island; however, Bzzit, the ferryman to the Lost Island, has been captured. Rayman sets out to the Marshlands to rescue the boatman.

He's Arrived at the Swamp
The level begins with a cinematic involving a conversation between Admiral Razorbeard and his lackey. The lackey informs Razorbeard that Rayman has arrived at the swamp. Admiral Razorbeard chomps down on a Yellow Lum (a Red Lum in the PS version), lowering the Yellow Lum maximum to 999 (it stays 800 in the PS version). He then orders Rayman to be stopped. The scene ends with warships dropping down from the Buccaneer.

Barrel Riding
Rayman arrives at the bayou, either from the Marshlands (Revolution) or from the Marshes of Awakening (Rayman 2). As he passes through some trees (Revolution) or through a portal (Rayman 2), a Warship descends from the sky and prepares to bombard Rayman. Rayman, unable to swim through the green Cajun waters, hops aboard a barrel floating in the water. The barrel begins to float down the river at the same time that the warship begins releasing bombs.

Shooting the bombs to avoid their explosions, Rayman arrives at a small bit of bare land. From here he hops aboard another barrel, and floats down more of the river until he reaches the bottom of a canyon. The warship is unable to reach him here and leaves.

After doing battle with a Robo-Pirate, Rayman finds himself swinging onto another barrel via Purple Lum. However, the waterfall he begins floating towards is haunted by Zombie Chickens, which rise from the murk and attack. Beyond the phantoms, Rayman leaps onto a log and oversees another warship flying above the bayou.

Bombardment on the Bridges
Rayman flutters down to a wooden bridge, but the warship immediately fires a cannonball. Rayman dodges the cannonball quickly, but the bridge plummets into the water. Rayman rushes across bridge after bridge, and finally delves into a small cave.

Bzzit and the Flamethrower
(note: the following is Revolution only)
As Rayman walks out from the cave, he finds himself at a clearing. On the side of a cliff is a prison similar to Ly's from the Fairy's Glade. However, this time it holds a Moskito look-alike, Bzzit. Bzzit warns Rayman of an ambush, and soon Robo-Pirates parachute down to attack. Rayman fights them off, but is quickly met with a new challenge.

A Yellow Robo-Pirate rises from the ground and begins firing its nasty balls of fire at Rayman. This is the strongest Robo-Pirate Rayman has fought yet, but in the end he succeeds. Bzzit cheers for Rayman, and then tells him to meet him at the pier in the Minisaurus Plains. Rayman nods, and pushes onward.

The Demon Tree
Following more trials evading warships on rickety bridges, Rayman arrives at the next segment of the bayou. Rayman must scale the sides of giant trees while dodging kegs being rolled into the river. At the end of the trail is a great cliff towering over the swamp. In the distance stands a demonic tree with firey eyes and a grand mouth. By pressing a switch, a bridge extends allowing Rayman the distance he needs to reach a Purple Lum.

The lum sends him swinging into the tree's mouth, only to lead to an encounter with the invincible Ape Pirate. Rayman must either evade the Ape Pirate or send it too its doom, but either way he arrives at a booby trap-filled corridor. By pressing a time switch, Rayman is able to unbar the exit and evade the pendulums blocking the way.

At the end of the corridor, Rayman escapes out of the tree and arrives at a pipe of sorts. Here he releases a Teensie and ends the level.

Revolution Return Trip
In Revolution, it is impossible to acquire all of the bayou's Yellow Lums on the first visit. The cliff overlooking the demon tree holds a Dry Bulb. After completing the Pirate Mines, Rayman may use the Rain Dance to revitalize the bulb and access the otherwise inaccessible remaining Lums.

Side Quest
In all versions other than Revolution, there is a small altar near the entrance to the Bayou. If Rayman has enough lums, Ly the Fairy will grant him access to the Walk of Life level.

*The Bayou shares the same music as the outside of the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava
*Many aspects of the Bayou may have been inspired by Louisiana in the United States, most notably the usage of the word "bayou," which is normally seldom used outside the state. The music is also reminiscent of Louisiana's swamps. The reason for the multiple Louisiana influences are probably due to the Cajun state's French background.
Trumpets are averagely resistant enemies in Rayman 1. They can be found in Band Land.

They're static enemies, and all they do is sneeze at Rayman or yawn at him, depending on their type, when he is in their sight. The yawning type cause Rayman to be sucked in their direction, and the sneezing type cause him to be blown away. This will not hurt him directly, and will have no effect at all unless he's on a slippery platform or in the air. They can be dangerous and make him fall, but their help is sometimes needed to reach otherwise inaccessible places.

They're usually protected behind vertical flutes, which are common in Band Land, but they can be eliminated easily when they face Rayman.
Oddly, they have shoes identical to Rayman's.
Rayman Revolution (known in the United States as Rayman 2: Revolution) is an updated remake of Rayman 2: The Great Escape made specially as a launch title for the Sony PlayStation 2 in 2000. Several changes have been made for this version, notably the upgraded graphics, the inclusion of new worlds and mini-games, and the order of the gameplay. Its difficulty was also slightly higher than that of Rayman 2. Similar to the PlayStation version of Rayman 2, some levels were shaped differently or removed (e.g. The Echoing Caves).

New Features
Akin to games such as Sonic Adventure, the levels in Rayman Revolution are accessed via three new hub worlds: The Minisaurus Plain, Globox's House, and Rainbow Creek that allow free roaming, making this version a lot less linear than the previous versions. There are also new events, missions, and puzzles to accomplish. In addition, new characters are introduced such as Bzzit, and Rayman can acquire new powers, items and abilities, such as the ones he can buy with the Yellow Lums he collected at the Magic Well, an equivalent to the typical item shop.

Characters such as Ly, Clark, and the Teensies appear a lot more often in this version. Ly increases Rayman's health by offering minigames, which include the Walks of Power and Life and the roller coaster segment that was previously in the Top of the World, in exchange for the Familiar Spirits, a new kind of spirits that are trapped in the cages. Meanwhile, the Teensies host the Stone Circles, which allow Rayman to return to places he has already visited.

Powers and Items
The game requires a lot more backtracking than before to collect the rest of the Lums that Rayman could not reach for the first time. Objects such as cannons, beacons, plants and mushrooms appear throughout the game, and need Rayman to gain his new powers and special items (such as the Rain Mask) in order to use them. A notable difference between the previous versions is that Rayman is not granted with the shooting power at the beginning, but is simply given the ability to punch, though he is shortly given the shooting power by the Teensies. As Rayman progresses, his shots get much stronger thanks to Silver Lums, until he can produce a shot that is as powerful as an exploding grenade.

Later in the game, Rayman is given some items to help him, such as the Rain Mask, which performs a Rain Dance like Globox's and helps plants to grow, and the Lums Radar, which is a magnet that can help him find any Yellow Lums that he may have missed. Reminiscing the original Rayman, Rayman can be shrunk to help him squeeze through small holes by eating mushrooms that he can water with the Rain Dance.

Unlike the previous versions, Rayman can keep his flying power, which he lost beneath the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava, conditionally - he can only use it whenever he is flying above any body of lava.
Glitches
This is a list of some of the most notable glitches in the game, among others.

List of glitches
Walking Shell Sound - If you turn up or turn down the sound effects volume in the options menu, you hear different sounds. One of them is a walking shell sound. If you hear it while turning up the volume, try holding the 'right' button, and exit the pause menu. The sound will continue.

Helicoptering Off the Front:
1. Go to the Teensie Circle in Globox's House.
2. Stand on the rickety wooden bridge nearby.
3. Make Rayman jump off the bridge at the highest altitude and speed as possible.
4. At the top of the jump, begin to helicopter.
5. Continue helicoptering forwards as though you want to reach the distant mountains.
6. The screen will turn a light blue, but continue helicoptering forwards.
7. The screen will return to normal, but Rayman is now jet black.
8. You can now helicopter all the way down to the forest and rivers below, but Rayman will go straight through them.
9. If you do, the screen will turn blue again, but Rayman will still be visible, jet black.
10. You can continue to helicopter forever if you wish.
11. While helicoptering at any point in this glitch, if you stop helicoptering for around two seconds or more, you will fall and die.

Flying First-Person View - It often happens when you run through the door that leads to where you meet Clark, in the Menhir Hills. In View mode, you can fly around the level, and you can even leave it, and fly out to "Orange World". This also allows Rayman to run around in the walking shell tracks. It is still unknown as to how exactly it is performed.

Air Swimming - This is notably easier to perform than some others:
1. Go to the Skull Cave.
2. Use the flying helicopter power to hover over the lava.
3. Go through the rock over the entrance.
4. Land in the water, right outside the big cave you see.
5. You can now swim around in the air. However, given that the game sees it as swimming, Rayman will eventually die due to a "lack of air".

Rayman Goes Insane - Perform the air swimming glitch and fly/swim to the entrance of the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire. Fly as high as you can, or Rayman will just enter the level normally. If you do it right, it should look like this:
Link!
After a long time, Rayman will start leaving the screen, but he will come back later, and start flying through the rock.

Rayman (GBC) is a remake of the original Rayman which was released for the Game Boy Color in 2000. Due to the handheld's technical limits, the game is a lot shorter than the original and Rayman himself is brought down to a small number of pixels high, yet it still manages to recreate the colorful universe of the original on the Game Boy Color.

Notable differences
* While Rayman's sprite is a smaller version of that in the original Rayman, the rest of this version's artwork uses his Rayman 2 appearance.
* The Tings are now tiny fairies that float inside magical balls Rayman has to collect.
* The entire game uses no music from the original, instead replaced with music from Rayman 2.
* The game uses only a password feature.
* There are no bosses at the end of each world, apart from Mr. Dark who this time will actually fight you at the very end. This has made the game a lot shorter and somewhat easier than the original.
* Several characters from the original (The Magician, Tarayzan, Betilla etc) do not appear in the game.
* Access to bonus levels is represented by an exit sign which has an arrow facing upwards, rather than the Magician.
* When Rayman is near a cage, the music changes.
* The World Map is accessible at the end of the game.
* All levels have completely original names, and slightly original scenery.

Other Features
Ubi Key
The Ubi Key was an exclusive feature in which two Game Boy Colors would transfer data to each other using the infra-red links (the small black tabs next to where the user inserts the Game Pak). In this case, a giant key would be found at some point of the game, and when these are transferred they would give you access to bonuses, such as a secret level.

Sticker Book
New copies of the European version of the game would contain a small sticker booklet and some stickers using some Rayman 2 artwork. Oddly enough there is also a page that featured Rigatoni, the main antagonist from the Animated Series, which was possibly a means to advertise the series though it never aired in more than a few countries. The rest of the stickers could be obtained at the now defunct official Rayman 2 website, Rayman2.com.
Treasure Ship is the third Expert race course in Rayman M.

Description
This level, along with the other racing courses in the Expert League, is based on the ship levels of Rayman 2 such as the Prison Ship.
A remarkable trait of this level's map, is that it is actually being viewed "from the side" instead of "from above".

The Buccaneer is the massive Pirate Ship the Robo-Pirates used as a main base and in order to get to the Glade of Dreams.

Description
On the outside it looks like any normal Pirate Ship except much bigger and with a giant Robo-Pirate skull carved on the front. The inside has lots of wood, lava, technology and metalworks.

History
Polokus transported Rayman to the Buccaneer when all four masks were collected, while the General (who appeared in Tonic Trouble) sold the Grolgoth to Admiral Razorbeard. Rayman had to slide and fly his way through before he reached Razorbeard. Razorbeard lured Rayman to him by using Globox as bait. It worked, and the Admiral, in his new Grolgoth, fought Rayman. Rayman managed to damage him a little and Razorbeard tried to jump on Rayman, but ended up smashing the ground and plunging them both into the lava pool below. Rayman was saved by a Silver Lum sent by Ly, but the Grolgoth, being a machine, didn't need saving. Rayman managed to take control of a flying shell and defeat Razorbeard, but the Admiral left before blowing up the ship with Rayman in it. Rayman was thought dead as a result of the explosion but walked in on his own funeral.

Trivia
* At the beginning of the Prison Ship, The General from one of Michel Ancel's other games, Tonic Trouble, appears. He sells Razorbeard the Grolgoth.
* When you fight Razorbeard in the Crow's Nest, if you fly straight up at the ceiling while repeatedly pressing the jump and shoot button, you'll go through it and end up in a tunnel. If you fly through to the end of the tunnel, you'll be transported back to Razorbeard but with infinite shots.

The Telescopic Fist is the first power that Rayman is bestowed by Betilla the Fairy in the original game, after the second map of Pink Plant Woods. It is his most widely used power, and with it, he can hurl a fist that defeats any enemies that are in his way. Another power, the grappling fist, allows Rayman's fist to grab things such as extra lives and flying rings. In Rayman 1, it can be powered up by picking up gold fists, which doubles the fist power, and speed fists which can make him throw it faster (there are three levels of speed).

This power is not the same as shooting, a power Rayman primarily uses in Rayman 2, though in the beginning of Rayman Revolution he is temporarily given the ability to punch things by Globox until he frees the Grand Minimus in the Woods of Light, where he is given the shooting power. Rayman can, however, find Golden Fists, wich double his attack power. These last for 3 hits (every time Rayman gets hurt, one of the 3 will disappear) and if Rayman loses all his golden fists, his fists will return white again.

Rayman also uses the telescopic fist in Rayman 3, where he can shoot it laterally by strafing around enemies. This is upgraded temporarily by the Laser Detergent Cans the Hoodlums leave behind.
