A '''Knaaren''' is a member of an enemy monster species found only in ''[[Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc]]''. They are tall, fierce and invincible creatures whose attacks are dangerously strong, and they dwell solely in [[the Desert of the Knaaren]]. They live in the deep labyrinthine caves beneath the blistering sands of the desert, building numerous tunnels and meeting grounds to connect their domain. Various members of the species may be summoned by a nearby gong, calling all surrounding Knaaren to move to the gong's position. This can be used as an effective distraction when trying to navigate their caves undetected.
They are ruled by their Lord, [[Gumsi]], who is noticeably smaller than an average Knaaren - Otto later on refers to him as a "child ruler".

In this world, Rayman is faced with several challenging and confusing booby-traps, including invisible platforms, fake walls and illusional mirrors.

The [[Teensies]] have made this "shortcut" ever more challenging by locking each [[switch]] until all crowns are collected. These crowns are distributed all around the area to make sure passers must provide strong determination and effort before proceeding.

These armoured flying [[hoodlum]]s always attack in pairs. They will attack by either shooting lasers at you or one will lift you up and move you towards the other Lavomatrix's flame throwers.

These are often seen standing out of reach throwing explosive bottles at [[Rayman]], laughing maniacally. If they cannot be reached normally, there will usually be a [[Laser-Washing Powder|shock rocket]] power up nearby.

They have a red cloak on with a yellow stripe across them and have explosive bottles attached to a strap around their front. They have a hole in the top of their heads which sometimes releases a long stream of smoke. The first one is found in the [[Clearleaf Forest]] like in the picture.
