The Blue Punch is a power-up that appears in Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends.

In Rayman Origins
The Blue Punch is an extremely rare power-up in Rayman Origins. Players can acquire it only in the second phase of the game, when Helena Handbasket tells the heroes to go and find the Four Kings of the Glade of Dreams. The Blue Punch power-up can usually be found inside a well-hidden bubble. Collecting it gives the player a set of seven blue boxing gloves (each of which has a face that highly resembles that of a Lum). These boxing gloves can be thrown by pressing the attack button. They move linearly, instantly destroying every enemy it touches on its path. The Blue Punch is considerably more powerful than a regular attack, as it can defeat enemies that are usually indestructible, like robots. When all seven of the boxing gloves are used, the player character returns to their regular attack pattern; however, if they get hurt by an enemy before using up all of the gloves, they instantly lose them all. In this sense, the Blue Punch resembles the Power Fist, a similar power-up which increased the strength of Rayman's magic fist in Rayman 2. The player can reload their gloves if they gather another Blue Punch bubble; however, the limit is seven gloves per character. At one point in the development of the game, the Blue Punch gloves were larger, and each character could hold only four at a time. A scrapped yellow version of the Blue Punch, named the Super Punch, was found in the game's files; however, its purpose and function are unknown.

In Rayman Legends
The Blue Punch returns in Rayman Legends as a level specific power-up, unlike in Rayman Origins, where it can be obtained as a collectible. In certain levels, a Teensy Sorcerer will grant the heroes the power-up. Also unlike in Rayman Origins, they are now unlimited, allowing the Heroes to use the power-up to their hearts' content when in a level granting its use. The fist itself behaves the same as in Rayman Origins: when attacking, a Blue Punch is launched in the direction attacked, and by spin attacking, or throwing a charged punch, the Blue Punch will turn red and be set alight on take-off, increasing its speed and the amount of damage it is capable of dealing. It also one of the only weakneses of the Dark Creatures
The Fortress of Sand was a location from Phoenix Interactive's cancelled Rayman 4. It is known only from concept art; unlike most of the other Rayman 4 environments, the Fortress of Sand has never appeared in any published Rayman game.

It appears that the Fortress of Sand was a vast and complex sand castle, rising from the waters near a beach, and including many towers, ramparts, turrets, walkways and islands. It was decorated with stones, seashells, flags and parasols. It seems that the colour palette of the level would have consisted mainly of sandy yellow and light blue.

It is not clear what role the Fortress of Sand would have played in the game, or whether it was inhabited by friends or enemies. Artwork shows armoured turtle guards carrying spears, and enslaved Teensies carrying buckets full of sand. Other, more indistinct, characters and creatures can also be seen.

One piece of artwork shows a lighthouse, known simply as the Light Tower, on the edge of the Fortress of Sand.
They are the biggest creatures of Olympus Maximus behind The Dark Cloud.
Skeletons resemble the typical human skeleton, though with cartoon proportions, and are Mexican-inspired in their appearance. They come in many different colors, such as green, purple, and pink. They typically wear small hats, and have small, curly mustaches. They carry small guitars, and try to hurt the Heroes with them.
They aren't a huge threat to Rayman and friends, and actually appear to be citizens of Fiesta de los Muertos. They appear to enjoy arena fights, as they capture Rayman and his friends and put them in an arena to fight a Luchador.
Giant Eels, are aquatic and flying creatures from the Sea of Serendipity and the Angsty Abyss in Rayman Origins and 20,000 Lums Under the Sea in Rayman Legends. Despite their name, they appear as marine arthropods with a segmented body. They come in various sizes and colours.

A gigantic, blue Eel referred to as a Giant Eel watches over the passageway between the Gourmand Land and the Sea of Serendipity. The heroes battle it in Aim for the Eel!, the last level of the Gourmand Lands. They encounter it as they fly across the sea on the back of their mosquito allies. In order to defeat it, its five segments must be successively destroyed by shooting at their rear part. Each segment also sports two light bulb-like protuberances which can be destroyed to yield more Lums.

Two more are found in Murray of the Deep, the last level of the Angsty Abyss, where they chase the heroes underwater until they reach Murray's nest. They cannot be fought, and have no side protuberances.

In Fire When Wetty and Scuba Shootout, the two mosquito levels of the Sea of Serendipity and the Angsty Abyss, smaller, pink Eels are found. They are thinner, made of seven or ten segments, have spikes, and sport fins where their large counterparts have protuberances. Their head is also longer. They act as obstacles and cannot be defeated. In the Back to Origins section of Rayman Legends', all these Eels are purple in colour and made of only seven segments.

Even smaller, though longer with twenty segments, pink Eels are encountered in Beware of Mini-Murray, the penultimate level of the Angsty Abyss. While some of them act as obstacles and follow a predefined path, others chase the heroes. They cannot be defeated either.

In Gloo Gloo, the music level of 20,000 Lums Under the Sea in Rayman Legends, another type of Giant Eel appears, identical to the pink ones though the size of the blue ones. Most of them attempt to chomp the heroes by quickly emerging from holes, and some chase them underwater. They cannot be fought.

Name
I can see the name of this article was changed from 'Giant eel' to 'Guardian of the Ocean World'. Not only is it, in my opinion, unnecessarily long and contrived, it also makes very little sense as this article is about the species, and not specifically about the individual guarding the Sea of Serendipity. Moreover, the attribute 'giant' may not be official, but calling them 'eels' is not less justified than calling their smaller counterparts 'Mini-Murrays', as both names come from the level names.

The 'small' eels being called 'Mini-Murrays' while having no visible connection with the boss 'Murray', which looks like a dragon and then a shrimp, but never like a giant eel, makes very little sense, it's true. However, if we are to blindly use level names as sources for creatures names (which I'm not sure we should do, remember the 'Mocking bird' discussion), we'll have to cope with it.

In conclusion, this article should either be renamed 'Giant eel' or just 'Eel', but the current name is an abomination. — 18:54, 21 May 2012 (CEST)

:I'd prefer to keep the word 'Guardian' in the titles of the bird and eel articles, as it strengthens the connection between them and generally makes the layout of the game's progression clearer. How about 'Guardian Bird' and 'Guardian Eel', or 'Music Guardian' and 'Ocean Guardian'?

:I don't see any reason the article should be about the species rather than the individual. As far as I can recall, the giant eel is a unique character, while his small, pink, invincible counterparts are a distinctly different type of enemy. (However, all of this is moot if there are any other gigantic blue eels that I've forgotten.)

:The name 'Eel' isn't strictly accurate either, as they're more like lobster centipede monsters than anything else. —Spiraldoor 19:36, 21 May 2012 (CEST)

:It is situations like this that I would like that developers concerned a little more in giving names to the creatures. What can I say... I also think the name is unecessairly too long, but I also think that naming just "Eel" would be minorizing the role of the character in the game. If the ingame textures don't give any tips, we must try to find better alternatives. I would call it something close to "Giant Blue Eel". --Haruka 20:31, 21 May 2012 (CEST)

:One source that we haven't yet given much attention is the game's audio files, which were ripped by Drolpiraat. In the filenames, the bosses are referred to as 'Mountain Golem', 'Boss Bird', 'Boss Ocean', 'Boss Guardian', 'Ocean Guardian', 'Boss Moray', 'Boss Food', 'Mecha Boss Bird', 'Mecha BPL', and 'Big Mama'. Some of them are obvious, but a few are confusing, and the very short length of the files doesn't help when it comes to identifying them. Maybe some of these could help us in determining a name for each boss? —Spiraldoor 21:08, 21 May 2012 (CEST)

::There are, actually, three 'giant eels' in the game: one in Aim for the Eel!, guarding the Sea of Serendipity, and two in Murray of the Deep, chasing Rayman underwater. Hence the need to refer to the species.
::As concerns their name, either we take the level names at face value (mocking bird, eel, etc.) or we try to make up coherent names (the music boss doesn't look like a mockingbird, the ocean guardian doesn't look like an eel, etc.), but there's no third way. Since we seem to have chosen the first one, then lobster centipede monsters will be eels.
::I like Guardian bird for the music guardian. But what about the ocean guardian? Giant eel, Guardian eel, Giant blue eel? — 22:22, 21 May 2012 (CEST)
:::::Come to think about it, that's probably where I got it from. No need to make up a name if there's already one: 'Giant Eel' (should we capitalise the word 'Eel'? grammar says no but the trophy says yes). The other names can be used as redirects. And since we're also discussing the bird, shouldn't it be 'Guardian bird' rather than 'Guardian Bird'? — 11:29, 22 May 2012 (CEST)

::::::I would prefer to capitalise the name 'Giant Eel', as it's the closest thing the character has to a name, and calling him 'Giant eel' or 'giant eel' would stick out like a sore thumb next to all the other character articles on the wiki. Thankfully the trophy gives the 'Giant Eel' spelling a measure of officiality.
::::::However, I don't think we should use the word 'Guardian' in the name of one guardian and not the name of the other. If 'Guardian of the Ocean World' is to be moved to 'Giant Eel', it follows that 'Guardian of the Music World' should be moved to 'Giant Bird' for the sake of consistency – which creates further problems, as there are two giant bird bosses in the game. It's a real mess.
::::::One idea I've been toying with is naming the four main bosses after their benevolent counterparts. Maybe 'Forest King', 'Music King', 'Food King' and 'Ocean King'? Or 'Flower King', 'Bird King', 'Dragon King' and 'Shrimp King'? Just another possibility to consider. —Spiraldoor 18:34, 22 May 2012 (CEST)
::::::::There's still a big difference: Giant Eel is a species (one of these arguably being the Guardian eel), while the Guardian bird is an individual (and Giant bird arguably being the species). As concerns the kings, I'd rather choose the second list, but why would we suddenly stop using the names from level names? Damn, Origins sure is a mess to document. — 12:21, 24 May 2012 (CEST)
::::::::How did we not think of this before? In the level Murray of the Deep, both the Giant Eel and the Shrimp King appear, so the name Murray could apply to either of them! And since Giant Eels are basically larger versions of Mini-Murrays, it now seems obvious that Murray actually refers to the Giant Eels. — 16:33, 24 May 2012 (CEST)
:::::::::Maybe the word 'Murray' is actually a plural? That would explain why the level names are 'Beware of Mini-Murray' and 'Murray of the Deep', rather than 'Beware of the Mini-Murrays' and 'Murrays of the Deep'. It could even be that it's both singular and plural, like the word 'sheep' – this would explain the way in which it's used to describe both the individual Murray and the multiple Mini-Murray. —Spiraldoor 17:20, 24 May 2012 (CEST)

Murrays, sometimes known as Giant Eels, are aquatic and flying creatures from the Sea of Serendipity and the Angsty Abyss in Rayman Origins and 20,000 Lums Under the Sea in Rayman Legends. Despite their name, they appear as marine arthropods with a segmented body. They come in various sizes and colours.

A gigantic, blue Murray referred to as a Giant Eel watches over the passageway between the Gourmand Land and the Sea of Serendipity.

Two more are found in Murray of the Deep, the last level of the Angsty Abyss, where they chase the heroes underwater until they reach the Shrimp king's nest. They cannot be fought, and have no side protuberances.

In Fire When Wetty and Scuba Shootout, the two mosquito levels of the Sea of Serendipity and the Angsty Abyss, smaller, pink Murrays are found. They are thinner, made of seven or ten segments, have spikes, and sport fins where their large counterparts have protuberances. Their head is also longer. They act as obstacles and cannot be defeated. In the Back to Origins section of Rayman Legends', all these Murrays are purple in colour and made of only seven segments.

Even smaller, though longer with twenty segments, pink Murrays are encountered in Beware of Mini-Murray, the penultimate level of the Angsty Abyss. While some of them act as obstacles and follow a predefined path, others chase the heroes. They cannot be defeated either.

In Gloo Gloo, the music level of 20,000 Lums Under the Sea in Rayman Legends, another type of Murray appears, identical to the pink ones though the size of the blue ones. Most of them attempt to chomp the heroes by quickly emerging from holes, and some chase them underwater. They cannot be fought.
Dark Creatures are common obstacles in Olympus Maximus. They are vicious hordes of monsters that instantly kill anything they touch. They can be killed only by purple mushrooms found in Olympus Maximus. However, they can survive when there are huge quantities. When first found, they appear to be imprisoned. It is currently unknown why, though it may be related to the fact that the dark creatures come to form the Dark Cloud, the final boss of Rayman Legends.

Appearance
They resemble small, furry balls, with two tiny arms and mouths with sharp teeth. The Dark Creatures have three different eye colours: blue, when in contact with the mushroom's explosions, green, when not having a player nearby, and red, when spotting a player.
The article says he reverts back to a shrimp when defeated. Can we be sure of that? I only ask because the Rayman Origins staff pulled out all the stops for puns (the Nymphs, level names, etc) so it would make more sense if he turns into a king prawn. --iHeckler9 09:40, 6 May 2013 (CEST)

Name
How is this boss named in the sprite files? As I said here in May 2012:
:In the level Murray of the Deep, both the Giant Eel and the Shrimp King appear, so the name Murray could apply to either of them! And since Giant Eels are basically larger versions of Mini-Murrays, it now seems obvious that Murray actually refers to the Giant Eels.
For some reason, it seems that we just forgot about it, but now I'm trying to document the various types of eels/murrays that appear in Origins and Legends, this becomes important again. So, in the absence of any better interpretation, I suggest we move this article to 'Shrimp king' and use 'Murray' for the giant eels instead.
—

No, the king boss resembles a Moray Eel, thus the pun of Murray. The Eels in the other levels more resemble bugs than anything.-User:Bionichute
Rayman Legends is a 2D platform game, and the fifth major game in the Rayman series. It is a direct sequel to Rayman Origins, to which it features very similar gameplay. It was initially planned to be a release title of Wii U , but in 8th October 2012, Ubisoft confirmed that Rayman Legends was delayed to the first quarter of 2013. By endings of 2012, Ubisoft confirmed the new release dates would be at 26th February of 2013 for North America and 1st March of 2013 for Europe, exclusively for the Wii U. At 7th February of 2013, Ubisoft revealed that the game was no longer a Wii U exclusive, being a PS3 and Xbox 360 version under development, that consequently delayed for a second time the release date to September of 2013. In 25th April of 2013, Ubisoft decided to release the game to endings of August of 2013 for Europe and begginings of September in North America in order to avoid being released at the same time as high-profile games titles from other companies. A PlayStation Vita version was confirmed by Ubisoft to be released at the same time as the other three versions, but with five exclusive levels, and two exclusive skins, at 28th May of 2013 and a PC release was confirmed at 25th July

Early Plot
<blockquote>Rayman, Globox, and the Teensies are off wandering through an enchanted forest when they discover a mysterious tent filled with a series of captivating paintings. As they look more closely, they notice each painting seems to tell the story of a mythical world. While focusing on a painting that shows a medieval land, they are suddenly sucked into the painting, entering the world, and the adventure begins. The gang must run, jump and fight their way through each world to save the day and discover the secrets of every legendary painting.</blockquote>

Current Plot
<blockquote>The Glade of Dreams is in trouble once again! During a 100-year nap, the nightmares multiplied and spread, creating new monsters even more terrifying than before!
These creatures are the stuff of legend… Dragons, giant toads, sea monsters, and even evil luchadores. With the help of Murfy, Rayman and Globox awake and must now help fight these nightmares and save the Teensies!</blockquote>

Gameplay
The game carries on the style of gameplay from Rayman Origins in which up to four players simultaneously make their way through various levels. Lums can be collected by touching them, defeating enemies, or freeing captured Teensies. Along with Rayman, Globox, and the Teensies returning as playable characters, players can now control a new female character named Barbara.

In the Wii U and Vita versions of the game, an additional player can control Murfy with touch controls, using either the Wii U GamePad or the Vita's touch screen. Murfy can perform various actions such as cutting through ropes, activating mechanisms, grabbing hold of enemies and assisting in gathering Lums. These offer a range of levels in which co-operation is required to progress, such as levels that mix platforming for Rayman and friends with rhythm gameplay for Murfy. In the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game, Murphy is controlled by the computer and can be prompted to interact with certain objects with button controls. Clearing a level once unlocks an 'Invaded' version, where the level is remixed with additional enemies or new objectives. The game will also feature 40 remastered levels from the original Rayman Origins.[

In an interview with Nintendo Power, Ubisoft revealed that the majority of the single player campaign will be platforming with Rayman or one of the other characters, temporarily switching to Murfy during certain sections.

Production
Shortly after the game's November 2011 release, Michel Ancel stated 'One has to know that Rayman Origins isn't just one game – we plan to make others, with retro 2D gameplay, and to give more and more details on the story.' In March 2012, artistic director Christophe Villez hinted that a new Rayman game would be revealed in June, at E3 2012. Also in March 2012, Bertrant Chaverot, the general director of Ubisoft Brazil, stated that Rayman Origins would have a continuation, but did not reveal any details.
On 23 April, 2012, a marketing survey containing information about Rayman Legends was leaked to the games media. The survey contained several pieces of information regarding the Rayman Origins sequel, along with two gameplay videos (though only screenshots of these were included in the leak). Like its predecessor, the game will feature co-operative gameplay with up to four players.
On 27 April, 2012, the first full-length trailer for the game was leaked to the public. It features the aforementioned settings, gives more details on online gameplay and reveals a new playable character: a Betilla-like warrior girl known as Barbara. In the Wii U version of the game, the player will be able to use certain physical toys to interact with the game world; this is similar to the premise of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. The trailer shows a player scanning a Rabbid toy to enter a level where Rayman must fight Rabbids, and hints that similar functionality will be possible with toys based on other Ubisoft characters, such as Ezio from the Assassin's Creed series. Ubisoft initially attempted to suppress the videos, but after a few hours they released an official statement, confirming that Rayman Legends was being developed by Michel Ancel and Ubisoft Montpellier, but downplaying the video's accuracy, claiming that 'This video was intended as a purely internal demonstrative video, and in NO way represents the final game, the final console or their features. The game was officially unveiled with a gameplay demonstration at the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo, showcasing Murphy, a new playable character, controlled via the Wii U system's touch screen on the tablet controller. It also showed medieval-themed stages as well as a rhythm-based map of the Land of the Livid Dead from Rayman Origins featuring remixed music. '

It was originally set to be released on November 30, 2012 (as a Wii U launch title). However, on October 8, 2012, it was reported to be delayed. On December 13, 2012, a demo of the game was released on the eShop. The official release date was revealed to be February 26, 2013, but was delayed further to September 2013 to allow for the title to have a simultaneous release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. This delay was negatively received by gamers and critics since the developer stated that the Wii U version was finished. Fans started a petition for the game to be released on the original date on the Wii U, which now has over 11,000 people signed onto it. To appease fans, Ubisoft said the Wii U would get another exclusive demo in the future, however this was just as negatively received. Developers that worked on the game have also expressed their distaste for the delay, with creator Michel Ancel also protesting for the release of the game.

In response to the delay, the development team have announced that they will be releasing the game's Online Challenges mode for free via the Nintendo eShop, which released on April 25, 2013. This mode features daily challenges based on one of five scenarios, one of which is exclusive to Wii U, and features online leaderboards and ghost functionality. They also stated that with the extra development time, they would be adding new levels, enemies and more to the game.Pre-orders of certain versions of the game come with a bonus costume for Barbara, inspired by Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. On August 7, 2013, in a Nintendo Direct presentation, 2 new costumes were announced for the Wii U version: a Mario costume for Rayman, and a Luigi costume for Globox.

The first phase takes place in the Hell area of Olympus Maximus, with several cycloptic statues in the background. The player will have to use the Blue Punches to destroy the Dark Creatures forming the hand, but if it goes too long without being fully destroyed, it will reform. Once destroyed, it will go into its second form.
Phase two is set in a windy area, and has two large saw blades floating in it. The Dark Creatures will flood out of two statues in the background, and form into two smaller demons.
Final Phase
The third phase takes place in the Mount Olympus section of Olympus Maximus, with three floating platforms to stand on, and two flying pigs to bounce off. The Dark Cloud will form into its final form, a giant demon. The player must use the Blue Punches to finish it off for good.
:This article is about amphibian enemies in Rayman Legends. For the creatures in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, see Toad.

Toads are amphibian enemies who inhabit the paintings in Rayman Legends, and along with the Lividstones, they are the most common kind of enemies in the game. Although similar in species, they shall not be confused with the Toads in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, as they bear a less primitive behavior and act more aggressively with Rayman and his friends.

Toads act as wild barbarians, and invade small towns populated by defenseless Teensies, causing war and disaster. They usually just carry a machete with them, though some will also carry a wooden shield, which can be outsmarted with Murphy's tickle ability or just with a stronger punch. Some Toads prefer standing on stilts to avoid danger, and can be defeated by reaching their altitude or simply calling Murphy to break their stilts. Their strategies also involve air ambush with parachutes, similar to those used by the Lividstones. Some Toads will even run at Rayman with their machetes, making a battle cry. Like most of the enemies, Toads can be defeated with one hit.
In appearance, they're considerably different to regular toads, with small legs and arms and no visible webbed fingers. Their most noticeable feature is their green egg-shaped body covered in boils, surrounded by a big loincloth-like belt. In appearance, they slightly resemble Polokus as he appears in Rayman 2: The Great Escape.
A giant version of the them called Armored Toad is a boss of Toad Story.
