Back to Origins is a world of paintings in Rayman Legends which features levels from Rayman Origins. Each level has had various changes made in terms of level design and graphics. Not all levels are included, and the ones which are have had all story elements removed from them. The levels are unlocked through lucky tickets, though will still need to be played in order in each of the worlds.

Levels are split into 5 worlds, each having the name of a corresponding world from Rayman Origins: Jibberish Jungle, Desert of Dijiridoos, Gourmand Land, Sea of Serendipity, and Mystical Pique. Each world features 8 levels from a pair of similar themed Rayman Origins worlds: for example, Jibberish Jungle features levels from both Jibberish Jungle and Ticklish Temples. Mystical Pique features levels from both Moody Clouds and the Land of the Livid Dead, as it does not have a correspondingly themed second world.

There is a pattern to what levels are included: each world features 4 normal levels (2 from each of the two worlds featured), both Moskito riding levels, the second Tricky Treasure level, and the boss level. Levels are not always featured in the same order that they were encountered in Rayman Origins: for example, Freaking Flipper is played before Swimming with Stars. The boss featured in Mystical Pique is from the Land of the Livid Dead, given that the Moody Clouds boss stage is omitted.

List of changes
*Some level names have changed slightly.
*Several elements have been changed or removed to be more in-line with the levels from Rayman Legends.
**There are no more time trials.
**All Flying Punch bubbles have been removed as the ability was reworked in Rayman Legends.
**All of the Electoons have been replaced with Teensies. Additional Teensies have been added to match the trend of either 10 or 3 per level, replacing many of the Skull Coins. Tricky Treasures now contain Teensies instead of Skull Teeth, which are absent in this game.
**Enemies are defeated instantly upon bubblizing, no longer allowing an extra Lum to be collected. However, defeating enemies gives more Lums now, with most of them dropping 5 Lums upon defeat.
**Lum Kings do not appear at all. Instead, several purple Lum chains have been added.
**Turnips have been added to most levels, as well as several enemies.
*Many textures on objects and enemies have been redesigned with the style of Rayman Legends.
**Some enemies have had their designs tweaked with more emphasis on their eyes.
***Psychlops now have their eyes wide open in their default animation instead of only when touched.
***Spiky oranges now have one large eye instead of two glaring eyes.
***Some of the green ice cubes in Gourmand Land now have eyes, although they do not function any differently.
***In contrast, the Tricky Treasure no longer has an eye.
**Tentacle claws and spiky flowers now use their designs from Rayman Legends.
***Light-blue and dark-blue variants of the tentacle claws from Rayman Legends are used in the Sea of Serendipity, the latter of which is only used in this world despite the tentacle claws in the other worlds also being dark-blue in Rayman Origins.
***All of the black darkroots have been replaced with either the green variant from Rayman Legends or the grey variant. The purple variant (which only appears in Freaking Flipper) no longer has eyes.
**The variants of certain enemies and obstacles for specific worlds and levels do not appear, instead using their normal designs, such as:
***The red Darkblockers in My Heartburn's for You. The red darkroots exclusive to this level are also absent, however, these have been completely removed instead of being switched to a different design.
***The blue baby piranhas in the Jibberish Jungle.
***The spiky fish in Gourmand Land have all been replaced with spiky birds, which are functionally identical.
***In contrast, the redfish have received a new purple variant exclusive to Fire When Wetty and Scuba Shootout, which also replaces all of the jellyfish in these levels.
*Several enemies now have new sound effects.
*All of the levels have had their story elements removed, such as the Magician, his hats, and the nymphs. The four Kings also no longer have any dialogue upon defeat.
*A majority of the levels have had their layout tweaked to be easier, most notably the Tricky Treasure and Moskito stages. As a result, spiky platforms do not appear at all.
*All enemies now have animations of themselves being tickled that are not able to be viewed without the Murfy reset glitch on a console with a touchscreen or hacking.
*Some levels have had many foreground objects removed to make them easier to see.
*The music no longer changes once the enemies have been defeated in an area with a cage. The only time the cage freed song from Rayman Origins can be heard is at the end of the Moskito riding levels.
*When entering a secret area with a Moskito, the music stops to ensure it does not override the Moskito riding music.

Soundtracks
(Note: This section does not contain any tracks from Rayman Origins that are reused for the Back to Origins levels.)
Trivia
* The song used for each world gallery varies, with only Sea of Serendipity using the same song as it did for the world map in Rayman Origins:
** Jibberish Jungle uses a song featured within the levels of the world, bearing little resemblance to the original map song from Rayman Origins.
** Desert of Dijiridoos uses a song from the game’s soundtrack based on the music in the world, but not featured in Rayman Origins. This makes it the only area in Back to Origins to feature “new” music.
** Gourmand Land uses the in-level version of the Rayman Origins map song, which includes extra backing.
** Sea of Serendipity uses the exact song used for the world’s map in Rayman Origins.
** Mystical Pique uses the world’s cage area theme, which bears more resemblance to the Moody Clouds map song. This is likely used as 5 of the featured levels are from Moody Clouds while only 2 are from Mystical Pique.
** The world selection gallery uses the theme of Rayman Origins as heard in the PlayStation 3 menu.
* None of the nymph rescue, electoon bridge, or first Tricky Treasure levels were included in Back to Origins. Here is a full list of the excluded levels:
**It's a Jungle Out There...

Hi-Ho Moskito! is the eighth and final level of the Jibberish Jungle, the first world in Rayman Origins. It acts as a transition between the Jibberish Jungle and the Desert of Dijiridoos, in a similar way to the first part of Bongo Hills in the PC version of the original Rayman game and its ports. This level contains the first boss of the game, the Boss Bird (also called the Guardian of the Music World), a gigantic yellow bird guarding the entrance to the Desert of Dijiridoos. This is the second level from this world that appears in the Back to Origins mode in Rayman Legends.
After hearing the Magician speak about collecting Electoons, the team of heroes finds and climbs onto giant mosquitoes. They begin to fly high over the jungle and must deal with small flies and large flies. Further into the level, they enter a cave and must contend with hunters shooting live missiles and Lividstones with spiky protective hats. After constantly fighting enemies, they leave the cave and face more live missiles.

Immediately after, the transition between worlds concludes as the team on their giant mosquitoes flies into the new world, the Desert of Dijiridoos. Here, strange, thin objects can be seen coming through the clouds below. The heroes must face helicopter bombs, which the giant mosquitoes can inhale and use to attack enemies. Afterwards, they must fight the Boss Bird. To defeat it, the giant mosquitoes need to inhale helicopter bombs and shoot them back at the Boss Bird, one at a time. Once enough helicopter bombs explode on the Boss Bird, it deflates and flies away. The team can then dismount their giant mosquitoes as they reach the end of the room, go through a door, and break an Electoon cage to finish the level. The team then poses on a photoboard, while the Magician waits to see how many Lums were collected in the level.
This level returns in Back to Origins as the second level of the Jibberish Jungle. Besides the graphical updates, the changes are as follows:

*Several purple Lum chains have been added, replacing the original Lums. The Lums that appear in the background and transition into the foreground now simply appear out of thin air.
*A flying Teensy cage has been added behind the third row of five small flies.
*The row of small flies that appears after the first pair of large flies appears much later, after the heart vial comes on-screen.
*The second pair of large flies with the Lums circling around them has been removed.
*The Bulb-o-Lum containing the Lum King and eight Lum bubbles has been removed. Another row of small flies now appears around where it was.
*In the cave, the first green bulb connected to the two platforms each with a Lividstone standing on them has been removed.
*The second green bulb with the Lividstone on its platform has also been removed and replaced with a row of small flies.
*Several heart bottles have been added.
**One has been added in front of the third hunter on the pillar
**Another one has been added next to the bubble bush past the fourth hunter on the platform.
**Another one has been added in front of the first row of three helicopter bombs after the Boss Bird appears.
*The heart bottle past the exit to the cave has been moved down and closer to the exit.
*The Lum King has been removed from the Bulb-o-Lum outside of the cave.
*A row of small flies has been added past the final hunter.
*The first pair of helicopter bombs with the Lum chain circling around them has been replaced with a single one without Lums.
*The second pair of helicopter bombs no longer has Lums circling around them but instead has a flying Teensy cage behind the upper one, and a heart bottle behind the lower one.
*The last heart bottle before the fight becomes stationary has been moved upward.
*The lower wooden platform of the arena where the Boss Bird is slightly shorter.
*The wooden platform with the giant mosquito flag appears to be much longer.
*In the final room with the Teensy cage, there is now a wall on the other side of the room.
Trivia
*The level’s name may be a pun on American fictional character The Lone Rangers phrase, "Hi-Yo, Silver!".
*It is possible to reach the maximum score of 999 Lums in this level. To do so, the heroes will have to keep inhaling helicopter bombs and shooting them at the wall, not at the Boss Bird. Each helicopter bomb earns two Lums, so it will take a considerable amount of time for the player to reach that number. This is the only level in the game where it is possible to reach the maximum score.
*In an early sketch, this level was shown to feature hunter birds as enemies; however, the concept was scrapped.

**All Flying Punch bubbles have been removed, likely due to the ability functioning differently in Rayman Legends.
**The variants of certain enemies and obstacles for specific levels, such as the red Darkblockers in My Heartburn's for You, and the blue baby piranhas in Hi-Ho Moskito! do not appear, instead using their normal designs. However, the redfish have received a new purple variant exclusive to Fire When Wetty and Scuba Shootout.

* The following levels were not included in Back to Origins:
**It's a Jungle Out There...
**Can't Catch Me!
Tricky Treasures now contain Teensies instead of Skull Teeth, which are absent in this game.
**Enemies now die instantly upon bubblizing, no longer allowing an extra Lum to be collected.
**Some enemies have had their designs tweaked with more emphasis on their eye.
* The following levels were not included in Back to Origins:

On Top of Old Smokey is the second level of the Moody Clouds, a world in Rayman Origins. In this level, the heroes travel through a storm in a place with structures made of pipes. This is the second level from this world and the thirty-seventh overall to be included in the Back to Origins mode in Rayman Legends.
Area 1
The heroes begin in stormy weather, with clouds shooting lightning. As they progress, small mecha flies appear. The Flying Punch that can be found here is useful for defeating them. The first Skull Coin can be collected by taking a higher path past two clouds and performing wall jumps on a couple of pipes. The exit is to the right of the coin.

</gallery>

Area 2
In this area, the weather worsens, as rain pours and more lightning-shooting clouds are found. The second Skull Coin can be found by gliding down past several clouds grouped together. After gliding through the weather for a while, the heroes reach the exit.

Area 3
Now the heroes come across large structures in the background, with more pipes and machinery. The team soon faces some small robots that attack with electric discharges. They can be defeated by punching them towards a buzzsaw. The exit can be found after the team gets past the robots and machines that generate electric arcs.
Area 5
In this area, the heroes use the glide power to fly with the current. There are many mecha fish throughout this area, and the Flying Punch that can be found here makes defeating them easier. The fourth Skull Coin can be collected by flying towards it on the left. The heroes must do this quickly to avoid being hit by the buzzsaws. The first secret area is located at the top, to the left.
Secret area 1
The heroes need to use the air vent to reach the robots and defeat them to break open the Electoon cage.

</gallery>

Area 6
After advancing past electric arcs for a while, the team uses the wall run to traverse a large gap. The fifth Skull Coin can be acquired by making the correct jump without touching the moving buzzsaws. The second secret area is located underneath the coin, near stationary buzzsaws. The exit is nearby.

</gallery>

Secret area 2
There are no enemies to defeat in this area. The heroes need to reach the cage without the flying creatures catching them.

<gallery widths="320px" heights="180px">
</gallery>

Area 7
For a short time, the heroes must dodge electric arcs and buzzsaws. The sixth Skull Coin is located in the air to the right of the continuously sliding buzzsaws. Afterwards, they arrive on a large wheel and must run backward to make it go forward. The exit is to the right.

<gallery widths="320px" heights="180px">

Area 8
After defeating a group of small mecha flies, the heroes must pass through the moving buzzsaws to progress to the exit.

<gallery widths="320px" heights="180px">
Area 9
To defeat the robots, the wheels need to be run on to move the pipes with buzzsaws attached to them out of the way. Once this is done, the Electoon cage can be broken open, and the level ends. The heroes then pose on the photoboard as the Magician counts the total number of Lums collected in the level.

This level is playable in the Back to Origins mode in Rayman Legends. There are no notable differences between the versions, apart from elements from Rayman Legends replacing some from the original game, as well as the level itself being made easier. Due to the removal of the Flying Punch bubbles, there are significantly less mecha fish in area 5.

*Several elements have been changed/removed to be more in-line with the levels from Rayman Legends.
**There are no more time trials.
**All Flying Punch bubbles have been removed, likely due to the ability functioning differently in Rayman Legends.
**All of the Electoons have been replaced with Teensies. Additional Teensies have been added to match the trend of either 10 or 3 per level, replacing many of the Skull Coins. Tricky Treasures now contain Teensies instead of Skull Teeth, which are absent in this game.
**Enemies now die instantly upon bubblizing, no longer allowing an extra Lum to be collected.
**Some enemies have had their designs tweaked with more emphasis on their eye.

Area 1
The heroes arrive in a snowy environment. They will need to use the wall running ability to climb, and a couple of stone men block their path. The exit can be found near the second stone man. Before exiting, the first Skull Coin can be collected by using a rope to reach a platform, where the power to run on walls can be used to reach the Skull Coin.
Still in a snowy environment, the heroes will need to continue climbing. The second Skull Coin can be collected by jumping on an explosive bulb and quickly obtaining the coin before it falls down with the collapsing platform. As the heroes grab onto the nearby rope, the first secret area can be found to their right. After the Electoons have been saved, the heroes can continue climbing. To reach the exit, the heroes will need to carefully time when they use the wall running power, as they will need to avoid Darkroots.
Area 3
The heroes arrive in a cave, where they must avoid the spikes as they take advantage of the wall running power and use the fakirs to proceed. The third Skull Coin can be safely retrieved by using the glide power to avoid the spikes directly beneath the coin itself. The exit can be found just to the right of the spikes.
To reach the Electoon cage, the heroes will need to avoid or hit the incoming lava rocks being thrown by a stone man as they climb to the top of the area; fakirs can be used as platforms to help them reach the top. Once the stone man has been defeated, the cage can be broken. This level takes place in a forested area with a misty background. The heroes will encounter giant mosquitoes after passing some spiky flowers. Throughout much of this area, the heroes must contend with many groups of small flies, baby piranha-infested water, Lividstones with spiky protective hats, and spiky flowers swaying in their path, many of which cannot be retracted into a bulb. As they proceed, the heroes will move further into the background, where platforms and enemies will be seen as black silhouettes. They must avoid many thorns covering the ground and ceiling, which also move vertically; many spiky vines grow out of the ground and ceiling. In the background, thick, thorny vines can be seen. Eventually, the heroes return to the foreground, where they will soon disband their giant mosquitoes, go through a door, and break an Electoon cage to finish the level. They will pose on the photoboard as the Magician waits for the total amount of Lums collected throughout the level.
Area 1
The heroes need to use the power to run on walls in order to progress, as they avoid the pits and spikes. The first Skull Coin can be collected by gliding between two Darktoons attached to a wall. The second Skull Coin can be found by running up the wall, which is located to the left of the exit.

The heroes arrive at a snowy environment filled with icy platforms and chasms. Once on top, they encounter an enemy familiar to Rayman: the stone man, who had not been seen since the original Rayman game. He acts similarly to how he did in the original game, throwing lava rocks at the heroes. Once the stone man has been defeated, the heroes can proceed. The third Skull Coin is located to the left, in the middle of two ropes. The first secret area can be found directly underneath the third rope. The heroes can then proceed to the exit.

The heroes can defeat the Lividstones in two ways: they can be defeated manually, or the heroes can break the ice blocks, causing the large platform to collapse and crush them. Once all the Lividstones have been defeated, the Electoon cage can be broken.
The heroes enter the cave again, where they need the meditating fakirs to help them pass the dangerous spikes. The fourth Skull Coin is hidden behind pieces of clothing. Once again in the cave, more Darktoons appear, as well as Darkroots. Using the wall run ability is useful to advance.
In the snowy environment, two switches attached to an elevator need to be used in order to lift it. The switches need to be used alternately, as Darkroots appear on both sides. Once the elevator arrives at the top, the exit can be found to the right.
The heroes can then drop down to the right to collect it. Once the elevator reaches the top, the exit can be found to the right.

All the heroes need to do is defeat the three stone men. Once they have been defeated, the Electoon cage can be broken, ending the level. The heroes then pose on the photoboard as the Magician counts the total number of Lums collected throughout the level.

*Time trials have been removed.
*Several elements have been changed to be more in-line with the levels from Rayman Legends.
**All of the Electoons have been replaced with Teensies. Additional Teensies have been added to match the trend of either 10 or 3 per level, replacing many of the Skull Coins. There is also now a Teensie trapped within the Tricky Treasure instead of the Skull Teeth, which are absent in this game.
**Enemies now die instantly upon bubblizing, no longer allowing an extra Lum to be collected.
**Lum Kings do not appear at all. Instead, several purple Lum chains have been added.
**Turnips have been added to most levels, as well as several enemies.
*Many textures on objects and enemies have been redesigned with the style of Rayman Legends.
**Some enemies have had their designs tweaked with more emphasis on their eye, such as the Psychlops having its eye always wide open, and spiky oranges having one eye wide open instead of two angry eyes. On the contrary, the Tricky Treasure no longer has an eye.
**The variants of certain enemies and obstacles for specific levels, such as the red Darkblockers in My Heartburn's for You, and the blue baby piranhas in Hi-Ho Moskito! do not appear, instead resembling their regular designs.
*All of the levels have had their story elements removed to avoid potential spoilers, such as the Magician's hats, the nymphs.
The only time the cage freed song from Rayman Origins can be heard is at the end of Moskito levels.
*When entering a secret area with a Moskito, the music stops to ensure it does not override the Moskito riding music.

Mystical Pique features levels from Moody Clouds as it does not have a correspondingly themed second world.

*Lum Kings, spiky platforms, Skull Teeth, Electoon cages, the Magician's hats, the nymphs, and time trials have been removed.
*Turnips, Teensies (which replace many of the Skull Coin locations), purple Lum chains and several enemies have been added.
*Enemies now die instantly upon bubblizing, instead of allowing an extra Lum to be collected.
*Many textures on objects and enemies have been redesigned with the style of Rayman Legends.
*A majority of the levels have had their layout tweaked to be easier, most notably the Tricky Treasure and mosquito riding stages.
*The Tricky Treasure no longer has an eye. A Teensie is also trapped within the treasure.
*All enemies now have animations of themselves being tickled that are not able to be viewed without the Murphy reset glitch on a console with a touchscreen or hacking.
*Some levels have had many foreground objects removed to make them easier to see.
*The music no longer changes once the enemies have been defeated in an area with a cage. The only time the cage freed song from Rayman Origins can be heard is at the end of Moskito levels.
*When entering a secret area with a Moskito, the music stops to ensure it does not override the Moskito riding music.
