Missile Dogfight is a two-player minigame exclusive to Rayman Revolution that is unlockable at a cost of 150 Yellow Lums via the Magic Well. In this, player one controls Ly the Fairy, while player two controls Rayman, both of whom are riding on flying shells. The aim of the game is to defeat the other player by either shooting or crashing into them until the customisable winning conditions are met. The game cannot be played unless there is a second controller connected to the PlayStation 2 console. Judging by the background, this minigame appears to take place in the third part of the Fairy Glade.

Roller Coaster Challenge is a minigame from Rayman Revolution. In Rayman 2, it formed the first segment of the Top of the World.

Located deep in the swamps is a special chair—anybody who rides it finds themselves on a wild rollercoaster ride through many dangerous obstacles. Unlike Rayman 2, in which the ride begins in a Canopy-like setting and then passes through a forest and some pipes, the ride in Rayman Revolution begins in a swamp, passes through ravines, a seaside cliff covered in barren rock and dead trees, a dark forest and some pipelines. In both versions, many Robo-Pirate installations stand in the chair's way.

Before Rayman may request that Ly the Fairy takes him to the Roller Coaster Challenge, Rayman must have collected ten Familiar Spirits. Afterwards, the Roller Coaster Challenge will always be accessible from Ly's House, Ly's Stele, and Ly's Cave.

After Ly transports him to the swamp, Rayman must leap onto a speeding chair. The chair sends him on a wild ride through forests, mountains, and other scenic locations. The player must tilt the control stick left or right to spin a speeding chair either clockwise or counter-clockwise so as to avoid incoming obstacles. The Roller Coaster Challenge is Rayman's first opportunity to increase his HP bar in Rayman Revolution. However, to do so, each of the twenty Red Lums must be collected—if Rayman misses even one, completing the ride will not count and he must start over again without any Red Lums.

There are no enemies on the ride, apart from a machine above a door that fires large bullets at Rayman. The machine does not have to be destroyed to complete the minigame, but Rayman can shoot it with his magic fist.
Axel, also known as the Guardian of the Sanctuary of Water and Ice, is a boss character from Rayman 2. He is the Guardian of the first mask of Polokus.

In Rayman 2
Unlike most bosses in the series, Axel only takes one hit to be destroyed, making him less powerful than some of the other Guardians. He attacks by throwing icicles at Rayman, who has to get to him by swinging across a series of Purple Lums in the air. Once close enough, Rayman shoots an overhanging icicle with his magic fist, causing it to fall on to Axel's head, defeating him in a single hit. In most versions of the game he explodes and evaporates into the air with a roar of rage; in the PlayStation version, the icicle sticks on his head and he slowly sinks into the fountain below him, where he dissolves.

Axel does not appear to be an inherently evil being; like the other Guardians, he was created by Polokus to guard his four magical masks and prevent them from falling into the wrong hands. The PlayStation version of the game contains additional cutscenes in which Rayman engages in dialogue with the Guardians Axel, Umber and Foutch; in the conversation with Axel, it is revealed that he regards Rayman as a thief who threatens the safety of the first mask. When Axel attacks Rayman, he is ultimately acting under the instructions of Polokus.

Like the other Guardians, Axel's name is not given in the PlayStation version. Axel does not appear in Rayman 2 Forever, the Game Boy Color version of the game; neither do any of the other bosses.

Axel's French name, Aglagl, is an onomatopoeia for the feeling of cold.

Umber, also known as the Guardian of the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire, is a character who appears in Rayman 2. His task is to protect the second mask of Polokus, but unlike the other Guardians, he does not attack Rayman.

Description
Umber is a tall, statue-like creature whose stone body is composed mainly of cube-like geometric blocks. He is the Guardian of the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire, where the second of the Four Masks of Polokus is hidden. When the masks are reunited, Polokus will awaken, and destroy the evil Robo-Pirate army; this is the main objective of Rayman 2 and its remakes. Umber is almost robotic in his movements; since his body is constructed of rigid stone sections, he cannot flex or turn in any way; he can only move certain parts of his body up and down, such as his arms, legs and mouth, allowing him to walk and speak. He is distinctly different from the other three Guardians of the masks – Axel, Foutch and Grolem 13 (who appears only in the PlayStation 2 version, Rayman Revolution). The other Guardians are all glowing, legless, levitating, pyramid-headed enemies, whereas Umber is a benevolent statue. This discrepancy is never explained. In the PlayStation version of the game, the Guardians (including Umber) are given some dialogue, and their personality and motivations are explored in greater depth.

In Rayman 2
Unlike the other Guardians of the Four Masks of Polokus, Umber does not attack Rayman. He appears to be no more than a stone statue, until he is activated when Rayman throws the two Magic Spheres onto their respective pyramids. Umber then begins to move mechanically, walking from his culvert into the middle of his chamber. When Rayman climbs onto the top of Umber's stone head, Umber begins to walk into the pit of magma which lies before him, slowly sinking as he does so. He eventually comes completely submerged; Rayman must debark onto the opposite side of the pit to survive. This is where he finds the second of the four masks. Should the player choose to return to the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire, Umber can still be found there in his previous position, waiting to ferry Rayman once more across the lava. It appears that Umber survives being submerged in lava.

In Rayman Revolution, a stone carving of Umber's face appears in the Fairy's Glade, the game's second level. It can be found at the beginning of the level's final phase by turning around and examining the wall. The meaning of this carving, if any, is unknown.

Like the other Guardians, Umber is omitted from Rayman 2 Forever, the Game Boy Color version of Rayman 2.
</gallery>

In the PlayStation version of Rayman 2
It is made clear that Umber is a benevolent being. It is explained that Ly the Fairy ‘contacted his spirit’, and that, unlike the misguided Axel and the insane Foutch, Umber responded positively to her pleas, and decided to aid Rayman in his quest to gather the four masks, reawaken Polokus and defeat the Robo-Pirates. In this version, Umber is known only as ‘a stone Colossus’; like the other Guardians, he remains unnamed, and is given a scene of dialogue with Rayman. Once he ferries Rayman across the lava, Umber tells him that it is an honour to serve him, probably referring to the events of the original game, in which Rayman saved the world from the evil Mr Dark. Umber warns Rayman that Ninja Henchmen are on his trail, and advises Rayman to use their heavy hooks against them.

Notably, Umber does not sink in this version.
This arena's scenery indicates that it is located somewhere in the region of the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire. Forgotten Dungeon contains several stone columns which, like the wall in the Fairy's Glade in Rayman Revolution, bear engravings of Umber's face.
In a manner not dissimilar to the Spyglass Pirate's control over Clark in the Tomb of the Ancients, Pink is seen remotely controlling a large, purple, Antitoon-like robot, which acts as the boss at the end of Rayman's first visit to the Dark world. Pink attacks with the Antitoon-like robot by making it repeatedly roll towards Rayman in an attempt to crush him. When the mecha charges at Rayman in an attempt to headbutt him, its head can be punched, damaging it. It takes three such hits to defeat.

Pink has a more important role in the console version of Rayman Raving Rabbids, firing guided missiles at Rayman in certain Bunny Hunt games. Usually Pink is behind an impenetrable shield that cannot be hit by firing plungers or Rayman's telescopic fist at it, so Rayman must use either of his two attacks to shoot the missiles back at Pink, damaging it. After Pink is destroyed, the cage containing the baby Globox drops down and shatters. Pink is completely covered in metal, with red, glowing eyes, who is constantly dependent on its crawling machine (bigger versions of these machines also appear in Bunny Hunt games, shooting orange globules at Rayman). At the end of the game, it is shown dancing to "La Bamba" and "Girls Just Want To Have Fun", although it is shown without its machine.

Yellow Lums are the most important of all Lums. They, along with the Red, Blue, and Purple Lums, created the god Polokus, who went on to create the Glade of Dreams. There are exactly 1000 Yellow Lums in existence; when united (which seems to be their natural state), they form the Heart of the World, which was shattered into its constituent Yellow Lums by the Robo-Pirate army prior to the beginning of Rayman 2 and the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman 3, and by the Rabbids in the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman Raving Rabbids. In such cases Rayman is required to collect all of them throughout the course of the games; the Heart (which contains them) is seen for the first time in the Fairy Council in Rayman 3. The Game Boy Advance version of Rayman Raving Rabbids contradicts the previous games regarding the number of Yellow Lums, featuring 1550 of them to collect, rather than the previously established 1000.

There is some evidence to suggest that the Great Protoon and the Heart of the World are in fact the same object; the reason for its differing appearance in the original Rayman game and Rayman 3 may be its destruction by the Robo-Pirates and its subsequent reconstruction by Rayman and the Teensies. If this is true, then the 1000 Yellow Lums (in the form of the Great Protoon) could have actually have first appeared in the original Rayman game.

In Rayman 2
{{quote|text=Yellow Lums are the 1000 fragments of the Heart of the World broken by the pirates. They contain universal knowledge. The more you gather, the more you will learn. You can access the secrets of the world by pressing F1.

In most versions of the game, there are 1000 Yellow Lums to collect, which are scattered across the many levels that Rayman will travel through. Many will be encountered individually, floating at the same spot until collected, others have merged into Super Yellow Lums, which are worth 5 normal Yellow Lums, and some can be found hidden in cages. As Rayman's count of Yellow Lums increases, he will unlock more of the Knowledge of the World, which contains lore based on the past of Polokus and the current situation with the Robo-Pirates. It is because of the blowing of the Heart of the World and the scattering of the Yellow Lums that Rayman, Ly, the Teensies and possibly many others are in a weakened state at the beginning of the game.

Yellow Lums are also required to unlock passages through to the Hall of Doors and the worlds containing each of the Four masks of Polokus. 5 (10 in the PS1 version) are required in the Woods of Light to allow for a Grand Minimus to open a door leading to the Hall of Doors (the Isle of Doors in the Dreamcast, iOS and 3DS versions, or the Front in Rayman Revolution).

In most versions of Rayman 2, Razorbeard eats a Yellow Lum during a cutscene. This causes the total Yellow Lum counter on the heads-up display to decrease from 1000 to 999. This Lum, however, can later be found in a secret room in the Tomb of the Ancients. In Rayman Revolution, it is instead found in the same chest as the Lums Radar, also in the Tomb of the Ancients.

In the PlayStation version, there are only 800 Yellow Lums and Rayman no longer receives the Knowledge of the World from them. In this version, the Yellow Lum which Razorbeard eats is replaced with a Red one. There are also 800 Lums in Rayman 2 Forever. When the word Lums first comes up, it is erroneously spelled as "Lumz"; this strange discrepancy is also present in the PC game's manual, and in the Game Boy Color version. In the PlayStation version, Lums are slightly smaller and they have visible black, beady eyes. In addition, the sound effect for collecting them is changed, and only one sound effect is used for all Lums. Collecting all 800 Yellow Lums in the PlayStation version will unlock a level taken from the 2D prototype of Rayman 2.

In Rayman M and Rayman Rush
In these spin-off titles, one of the modes for the races is known as Lums Race, where the player must maintain 1st position in three laps, but also collect the most Yellow Lums, which are scattered amongst the various paths of the racing track. To this end, a good strategy for this mode is to take different paths in each lap.

In Rayman M, bonus Yellow Lums can be found, these are used to increase the total time in the timer for the track in the On and On racing mode.

In Rayman M, Yellow Lums are identical to those in Rayman 2 on the PC and PlayStation 2 versions. However, they have eyes. In Rayman Rush, Yellow Lums are identical to those in the PlayStation version of Rayman 2.

clear

Yellow Lums do not make an appearance in the main console versions of Rayman 3, however, they do make appearances in both portable titles. They have the same spherical form as the Tings from Rayman 1, but are coloured Yellow to reflect their role assigned from Rayman 2 as pieces of energy from the Heart of the World. The Game Boy Advance version has a total of 1000 Yellow Lums, while the mobile phone version merely has 175 in total.

Much like in Rayman 2, the 1000th Yellow Lum is secluded from the regular path a player would take to normally beat the game, however, unlike Rayman 2, where the final Yellow Lum was merely hidden in a secret passage, the final Yellow Lum in the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman 3 is hidden in the Lum Challenge. Yellow Lums feature as a collectible alongside the returning jewels from the console versions of Rayman 3, they award points when collected, but also have a separate counter logging all the Lums collected from the level. They must all be collected as they feature as part of a level's 100% tally, and thus, required for 100% completion of the game.
Unlike any of the previous titles, Yellow Lums are not simple pick-ups which contribute to an overall tally. Instead, they are used as ammunition for Rayman's long range attacks, similar to the magic fist attacks from Rayman 2. The attack that they contribute to allows Rayman to more easily dispatch of enemies and other offensive machinery. They deal twice the damage of a normal fist attack and have a longer range.

Rayman can collect Yellow Lums much like in past games, where they merely float upon a spot and are added once Rayman comes into contact with them. Yellow Lums can also be found inside of bags, worth five each, and boxes, which contain three bags each. Gold Lums can also be collected, one in each level, to increase the total amount of Yellow Lums that can be carried.

Yellow Lums are also need to grab Purple Lums. Doing so does however not use any Yellow Lums previously collected.
