Hey I am Jman, I am a huge fan of the Rayman series. My first Rayman game was Rayman 2: The Great Escape, for the Sega Dreamcast. After the Sega stopped making games for the Dreamcast I got an Xbox. Soon after I got it, Rayman Arena was released for the Xbox. I bought it, and when Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc was released I went and purchased it. I played the game and beet it. I noticed the lums quest on the game and joined the original Raymanzone. I joined the forums a few weeks later. After the forums were taken down, there was a long period of time when I wasn't a member of any Rayman community. When the forums were brought back up I joined. They were nothing like the forums from before, and they didn't interact with the lums quest. After some time I got fed up with RZ and left to join the Pirate Community. I opened up a signature shop there, and have become a very active member, and I hope to keep it that way. Then in June of 2008, I was asked to become a moderator of the Pirate Community. Then in late July, I finally bought Rayman 1 for the GBA.

Rayman Raving Rabbids is the first video game of a spin-off series based on the Rayman series. It was released for the Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation 2, PC, and the Gameboy Advance in 2006, followed by ports for the Nintendo DS and the Microsoft XBox 360 in 2007.

Plot
Rayman and the Baby Globoxes are having a picnic in a forest when three Rabbids erupt from the ground, capturing the Baby Globoxes. Rayman tries to offer them food, but then Serguei comes and grabs Rayman. The Rabbids take Rayman and the Baby Globoxes to their coliseum and keep them in jail cells.

In order to escape, Rayman must collect plungers to build a ladder up to the window so he can jump out. He does this by taking part in trials to entertain the Rabbids. After trials, Rayman is rewarded with a plunger and is taken back to his jail cell to get some rest for the next day's lot of trials. As he goes on, Rayman's cell is decorated to look nicer and he wins more costumes and songs. After every day, he goes to the ladder of plungers, looking at the window hoping to escape, but a bird always comes and poops on him. After fifteen days, Rayman finally collects enough plungers and escapes, getting his revenge on the annoying bird on the way. Back at the forest, Rayman sees sheep eating the remains of the picnic and remembers he forgot the Baby Globoxes. He tries to go back through a hole in which they were captured through but ends up stuck.

Characters
Rayman and the Rabbids are the main stars of this game. Also included are the Baby Globoxes, the only returning characters, the Rabbids henchmen, strange creatures that look like a cross between rhinos and elephants and some animals, who only serve as fillers.

Rayman: Rayman was taken by surprise by this invasion from within. What do the Rabbids intend to do? It's hard to say.
But now they're everywhere and their atypical psyches make them formidable and unpredictable opponents.

A Few Rabbids...

Pink: Pink is mute and timid. Yet, with just a little patience you can easily learn the basics of his method of communication and understand what he says. For example, "Hey mate!! What's up?" is translated, in his language, by firing a heat-seaking missile . (It is true that, long term, you could say that all he really knows how to say is "Hey mate!! What's up?").

Serguei: Serguei is a softy. Out of pure coquetry, he wears a delightful, finely worked metal muzzle. His joie de vivre and his strong sense of repartee make him a very pleasant companion. He's always ready to keep things light and lively with little tricks, such as grinding phalanxes, switching your clavicles or even playing "this little piggy" with your toes.

Professor Barranco: Professor Barranco is a scientist. He is currently writing a very complex thesis on thermodynamics and the resistance of certain materials. For the moment, he is accumulating certain certain experimental data, firstly, on their resistance of cranial bones to the impact of a bludgeon, and secondly, the resistance to high temperatures generated by the explosion of booby-trapped gifts.

The frog-rabbids: The frog-Rabbids are part of the elite commando team. They are formidable combatants. They are systematically sent out on the most dangerous missions, such as assaults on carrot juice bars, infiltrating a popular chorus or even maintaining the peace in front of the toilets.

Clark: Clark is not a Rabbid like the others. His Super-powers enable him to accomplish feats that gain him respect and admiration from everyone. He is the inventor and the undisputed champion of a new kind of biathlon (the consecutive combo: Descending Flight + Vertical Subterranean Race).
His personal record: 2300 DF + 47cm VSR
System Requirements
Minimum
Windows® XP: 1 GHz Pentium® IV or AMD Athlon, 256 MB RAM, 64 MB DirectX® 8.1-compliant video card, DirectX 8.1-compliant sound device, 1.5 GB

Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc is the sequel to Rayman 2: The Great Escape. It was released on the 3rd of March 2003 for the Sony Playstation 2, Microsoft X-Box, Nintendo Gamecube, and PC. Rayman 3 was 3D, with graphics similar to Rayman 2: Revolution. However, Rayman 3s levels were a series of "action stages" as opposed to having a single level per world. Also unlike Rayman 2 and especially Revolution, the levels strictly followed a "movie"-like plot; in other words, returning to a level meant returning to a point in the adventure (such as Rayman falling in Begoniax's outhouse) instead of returning to a location in the adventure. Rayman 3 also featured a scoring system, and players could post their final scores on the then-new RaymanZone website.

Worlds
Similar to the gap between Rayman and Rayman 2, all locations in Rayman 3 were new and unconnected to previous games. However, they are still the same environments as Rayman's games tend to stick with: the mountains, forests, and swamps from Rayman, and the plains, coasts, and fortresses from Rayman 2. One area in particular, the Fairy Council, was alluded to in Rayman 2, and Count Razoff's father supposedly shot something as large as Space Mama; these allusions make Rayman 3s locations generally regarded as still being in the same canon as Rayman and especially Rayman 2.

Rayman 3s worlds in particular picked up on a lot of things Rayman 2 and Revolution lacked: unique environments. While the Iron Mountains and the Menhir Hills pretty much looked the same, Rayman 3s worlds were vast and varied. Many elements from Revolution were included in Rayman 3s worlds--the most evident of these are the ambient sounds (for example, the Desert of the Knaaren has the same ambience as Beneath the Lava Sanctuary) and the unique lighting. Rayman 3 also had many instances of stained glass windows, also a previous characteristic of the Lava Sanctuary.

Rayman 3 returned to the fairy tale-like theme of Raymans locations, though not as surreal. Many odd locales dot Rayman 3s small collection of worlds, such as in the Fairy Council and the Longest Shortcut.

Finally, Rayman 3 included many allusions to its two predecessors, including a statue of Ly the Fairy (who is oddly absent from the Fairy Council), a painting of Admiral Razorbeard and the Robo-Pirate Army, a reference to Space Mama, etc.

Plot
The Fairy Council is suddenly invaded by Black Lums. Clusters of Black Lums form and begin stealing the fur from several animals to make patchwork disguises, which became known as Hoodlums. Led by André, the Hoodlums attempt to reach the Heart of the World in order to corrupt it and create thousands of more Black Lums. However, as soon as they are about to reach their goal, Globox accidentally swallows André when Globox and Rayman were trying to foil their plans. Rayman then sets out in search of a doctor who can remove André from his friend.

Score System
Rayman 3 was the second game to have a score system (after Rayman 2: Revolution), and the first for the score system to be in an arcade-style format. This score system allowed players to upload their scores onto RaymanZone's Lums Quest. The score system increased the replay value of Rayman 3. The scoring system followed this formula:<br>
#Collect a Gem / Break a Piggy Bank / Defeat a Hoodlum
#Points are added to Score
#Combo Mode starts
#During Combo Mode, step 1 brings double points to step 2
#Unless step 1 is carried out consistently, Combo Mode shortly ends

If Rayman is using a Laser-Washing Powder Can, each point is doubled, increasing the amount of points he can get and quadrupling the payoff of Combo Mode.

With the reformat of RaymanZone for Rayman Raving Rabbids, the Lums Quest ended.

Rayman 3s worlds in particular picked up on a lot of things Rayman 2 and Revolution lacked: unique environments. While the Iron Mountains and the Menhir Hills pretty much looked the same, Rayman 3s worlds were vast and varied.

One area in particular, the Fairy Council, was alluded to in Rayman 2, and Count Razoff's father supposedly shot something as large as Space Mama; these allusions make Rayman 3s locations generally regarded as still being in the same canon as Rayman and especially Rayman 2.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape is Rayman's second game, and is the sequel to Rayman. It was first released in 1999 for the Nintendo 64 and was followed by ports for the Sega Dreamcast, PC, and Sony Playstation, with each port being different in its own little way. It was also the first 3D game. Rayman 2: The Great Escape is often abbreviated as Rayman 2 or (to avoid confusion with the similarly named Rayman 2: Revolution) R2.

Gameplay
The gameplay in Rayman 2 is somewhat similar to that of Rayman, though this time Rayman starts with a few powers to defend himself, one of which is given to him by Globox who is introduced at the very beginning.

Main Characters
The Good Guys
*Rayman (character) - The Hero of the Game
*Globox - Rayman's best friend and Uglette's wife
*Ly the Fairy - Rayman's friend and powerful ally
*Murphy - Serves as an "instructor"-type character
*The Teensies - Keepers of the Hall of Doors
*Clark - A friend of Rayman's

The Bad Guys
*Admiral Razorbeard - The Villain of the Game
*Robo-Pirate Army - Razorbeard's Army

Environment
Unlike Rayman, Rayman 2 is not divided into certain themed worlds, but rather a trail of 20 different locations, none of which are as surreal as its predecessor's, but are still unsimilar to the real world. The levels are played in a linear fashion in a World Map known as the Hall of Doors, with most levels following a single path (though the Cave of Bad Dreams, Walk of Life, and Walk of Power are on side-paths). The player is able to backtrack to past levels if he or she wishes.

System Requirements
Pentium 133 MHz, 32 MB RAM, Windows 95/98, DirectX 7.0, 4 MB DirectX-compliant video card, DirectX-compliant sound card and 4x CD-ROM drive

Hack
It is possible to run the game under higher resolutions than 1024x768 by a simple hack.
By editing the file C:\WINDOWS\UbiSoft\ubi.in with a basic text editor, you'll have something like this
<pre>
[SYSTEM]
Test Sound=1
3DFX=0
Memory=511
GLI_DllFile=GliDX6
GLI_Dll=DirectX6
GLI_Driver=display
GLI_Device=Direct3D HAL
GLI_Mode=1 - 1024 x 768 x 16
ShortCutDesktopName=C:\Documents and Settings\Administrateur\Bureau\Jouer à Rayman 2
ShortCutDirectory=C:\Documents and Settings\Administrateur\Menu Démarrer\Programmes\Ubi Soft Games\Rayman 2
Language=French
Configuration=2
VolumeName=RAYMAN2

[OSD]
Valid=TRUE
</pre>
The GLI_Mode line define the resolution of the game. You'll just have to replace "1024 x 768" by "1440 x 900" to run the game in 1440x900 instead of the default 1024x768.

Caution : Modifying the other values may crash the game.

Promotion
UbiSoft promoted Rayman 2 with many toys and even a cartoon. There were YoYos, Cellphone covers, a Playstation 2 remote, a version of the game with a figure, and Happy Meal toys.
Cartoon
Main Article: Rayman: The Animated Series
Mcdonald's
UbiSoft joined with Mcdonald's to make a happy meal with Rayman toys. These toys were a Rayman rolling on a walking shell, Rayman on a plum with spinning helicopter hair, a light making cage, a sound making Henchmen 800, a wobbling Globox, and Ly.
Re-Makes
*Rayman 2: Revolution - Playstation2 remake that essentially was a harder version of the original, with added levels, enemies, and a new free-roaming feature.
*Rayman DS - DS remake identical to the original N64 version, though many glitches and bugs were included that were not present in the original.

A Hoodlum is a member of an enemy species that is introduced in Rayman 3. It is the product of a cluster of Black Lums that had stripped the fur of several animals and created all sorts of rags to hide their inner contents. They are often found sporting an assortment of weapons, especially shotguns, that shoot slow moving fireballs.

Levels
* Clearleaf Forest

Rayman M (also known as Rayman Arena outside of Europe) is a multi-player spin-off video game based on the Rayman 2 universe. In Europe it was released only on the Sony Playstation 2 and PC on the 30th November 2001, while in the United States it was released on the Microsoft XBox and Nintendo Gamecube. It is a 3D game which combines racing, battling and traditional platform elements. Unlike the other Rayman games, this game does not have a notable plot, other than that the characters are in a sporting competition.

Gameplay
The gameplay in Rayman M is split into two main modes, Racing and Battle.

Racing Mode
In this mode, the players take part in a foot race and face a number of obstacles depending on which environment they are playing in. There are no power-ups in this mode, although throughout each course there are purple lums, speed ramps and small trampolines that are useful. This mode has four different types of racing game. Obstacles include boxes that the player has to shoot up to eight times in order to pass, bear traps and electric bars.

Training
This mode allows the player to explore the course and practice before playing in the other modes, as well as setting their own personal records. Only a single player can play in this mode.

Race
This mode involves up to four characters to race each other, the first one to the finish line wins. In single player mode, the other players are computer controlled and there are three laps to run, while in multi-player mode you can set how many laps to run before winning.

Popolopoï
This mode uses a time limit in which you must complete three laps in. Although the time starts at 20 seconds, you can increase your time by shooting small butterflies called Popolopoï, which come in different colours that represent how much time you would get. Only a single player can play in this mode.

Lums
In this mode, you have to complete three laps while collecting the number of Yellow Lums required in order to legally win, which can be used at later points of the game. Only a single player can play in this mode.

Battle Mode
Rather than an obstacle course, the Battle mode is made up of an arena in which you run around playing three different modes. Unlike the Race mode, this mode uses power-ups.

Lum Spring
In the mode, you have to collect as many Lums (which unusually look like crystals this time) as you can in order to reach the winning conditions - in a typical game, this is up to five Lums - or before the time runs out. To help you prevent the opponents from reaching them first, you are equipped with ice bullets to freeze them, thought you'll also have to avoid their shots.

Lum Fight
Each player starts with five hit points each, and you have to knock all of the opponents' hit points in order to score Lums. Each time a player dies, they respawn somewhere in the arena. A negative Lum is given to a player that loses to a self-infliction. Various power-ups called Generators are scattered around, and contain a different weapon to use against your opponents. Uses the same winning conditions as Lum Spring.

Capture the Fly
Game is a lot like tag - you have to find a Light Fly and keep hold of it as long as possible without getting hit by an opponent's shot. You are equipped with five bounce bullets which are only effective on the play in possession of the Fly. The player that reaches the winning conditions first wins.

Environment
The game is supposedly set in the Rayman 2 universe, and consist of four different worlds for each mode, each with three stages. The world you play in also determines the difficulty of the game, going from Beginner to Advanced. As the player progresses, the harder difficulties are unlocked.

Characters
At the start of the game, five characters are available, and as you progress through the game, you will unlock the remaining characters as well as skins for them. Each character has their own musical theme in the Racing mode, and have their own method of gliding, though they all shoot the same way Rayman does.

* Rayman: Does Rayman need another introduction? He's basically the star of this game.
* Globox: Globox is Rayman's best friend, who joined the competition to overcome his shyness.
* Teensies: You actually play as two of these who work together while they compete.
* Razorbeard: Razorbeard is back, and is even more irritable than ever.
* Henchman 800: One of the pirates you had to battle in Rayman 2 makes a comeback too.
* Tily+: A small orange canine-like fairy with cute fairy wings. Often speculated to have been a replacement for Ly the Fairy.
* Razorwife+: Razorbeard's wife, who dresses rather flamboyantly unlike her husband.
* Henchman 1000+: An older, bigger and much more powerful type of Henchman

+ = Characters that are unlockable.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape is the second game in the Rayman series, and is the sequel to Rayman. It was first released in 1999 for the Nintendo 64 and was followed by ports for the Sega Dreamcast, PC, Sony Playstation, Playstation 2, Game Boy Color and Nintendo DS. It was also the first of the series to jump from 2D to 3D.

Gameplay
The gameplay in Rayman 2 is somewhat similar to that of Rayman, though this time Rayman starts with a few powers to defend himself, one of which is given to him by Globox who is introduced at the very beginning.

Environment
Unlike Rayman 1, Rayman 2 is not divided into certain themed worlds, but rather a trail of 20 different locations, none of which are imaginary, but are still considered to be in some sort of fantasy world.
Apart from the Playstation 2 version, Rayman Revolution, these worlds are linear, though the player can backtrack like in the original.

Hack
It is possible to run the game under higher resolutions than 1024x768 by a simple hack.
By editing the file C:\WINDOWS\UbiSoft\ubi.in with a basic text editor, you'll have something like this

Rayman is the main character in the Rayman universe. He is the creation of French game designer Michel Ancel, and has become a popular and recognisable video games character over the past decade.

Appearance
Rayman is partly humanoid, though for a generally unknown reason he has no arms, legs or a neck - his hands, feet and head float around his body. He has a huge nose, similar to that of French comic character Asterix, and generally has blend of blonde and red hair, shaped into two fronds that are used as a helicopter (this became spikier as the series went on). He is normally dressed in a purple shirt that has a white ring on the chest, yellow and white trainers, white gloves, and a red neckerchief or hood, depending on the era. Certain pictures show his eyes being dark blue in colour.

Character
Little is known about Rayman's origins, apart from the fact that he is the only being to have not been created by Polokus. He has no known relations, though he did have friends that were of he same race as him in Rayman 1. Speculation suggested that the General in Rayman 2 that sells Razorbeard the Grolgoth is Rayman's father, due to the fact that he was also limbless and no other character in that game was. However, currently it is known that this General was an spin-off of the Super Ed character from game Tonic Trouble.

The Magician is a side character who appears in Rayman 1 quite frequently. He is the same species as Rayman, and specializes in magic. While he has a short role in Rayman 1, he's seen much more often in Amazing Learning Games with Rayman.

Appearance
----

Being the same species as Rayman, the Magician has the signature trait of no arms, legs, or neck, and with a very large nose. His most distinguished features are his long blond hair, almost reaching the ground in length, and his long black top hat with a golden star on the front that covers his eyes. He is dressed in a purple shirt with two light blue buttons on the front, white gloves, and long sock-like shoes striped in purple and orchid. The Magician's eyes are never seen, so there is no record of his eye color.

Character
----

The Magician, like Betilla, is a character who assists Rayman on his journey in Rayman 1. At the very beginning of Rayman 1, the Magician tells the story of what is going on at the time before Rayman's journey begins, appearing to have a carefree and sarcastic tone in his voice, implying that he either has a strong sense of humor, or has disregarded the fact that his world is in danger at the moment. His primary role in the game is to challenge Rayman every time he is found, as long as he can pay the price. For a price of 10 Tings, the magician can transport Rayman to special Bonus Levels where he may either earn more Tings or, if he may complete the level, earn an additional life.

In Amazing Learning Games with Rayman, the Magician takes up a teacher-like role, giving Rayman instructions on every task he must make in order to make it through every level. Typically he pops a bad joke or two during the beginning level introductions, and at the end of each level will perform quite humorously with a dance, cheer, or a bit of singing. At the end of one of these levels, the Magician can be heard rapping 90's style.

A Name
The Magician was never given an official name, and for most he is continued to only be called "The Magician". However, some fans have given him names, such as Houdini, Ashe, David or Jasper.
Rayman Junior (also known as Rayman Brain Games and Maths & English with Rayman) is a version of Rayman 1 for the Sony Playstation and MS-DOS that is designed to be an educational video game, in which it teaches children aged 6-8 the basics of maths and literacy.

Gameplay
The gameplay in Rayman Junior was made easier specially for the young player. The number of levels in the game has been reduced to just 12, two per world, and each one covers an educational topic, such as phonics, adding and subtracting, number recognition etc.

Each level starts with the Magician giving Rayman an overview on what he has to do. Then you will see the Magician's hat at various points of the level where he asks you a question even you walk past it. You then have three paths to choose from, the right path is the right answer to the question. A life is lost if the wrong path is taken. After you complete the level, you are then given a time limit in which you have to accomplish whatever challenge the magician has now set you.

The game contains a new world map, and aside of the levels, there is an extra one called Betilla's Garden, which the player uses to practice. This is the first time in which we hear Betilla the Fairy speak English. It also has a new title theme, and the level music is extended.

Plot
The plot of this game is similar to that of the original, though this time Mr Dark barges into the Magician's cottage and steals the Book of Knowledge. He also destroys the map to his hideout, which the Magician had kept in case of such an incident. Rayman has to find all the pieces of this map in order to complete the game.
