Like [[turtle]]s, they can be kicked by [[Rayman]], sending them spinning though the air. They appear mostly in [[the Desert of the Knaaren]], but one can also be found on the floor of [[the Fairy Council]], and several others can be seen in [[Count Razoff]]'s mansion in [[the Bog of Murk]]. As a result of their tormented upbringing under the [[Knaaren]], rats appear to derive some form of masochistic pleasure from pain – when kicked by Rayman, they usually comment with perverse sentences.

At least one [[Knaaren]] has domesticated a pet rat; as [[Rayman]] is about to fall down the hole leading to the fight against [[Reflux]], one Knaaren laments to another about his dead pet rat called Sally.

The gameplay in ''English with Rayman'' is the same as that of ''[[Rayman Junior]]''. Rayman's objective is to track down the magic recipe. Throughout the game, Rayman must solve language-based questions in order to find the correct path through the levels. Along the way, he is helped by [[the Magician]] and his cousin [[Andrew]], who speaks in an English accent and wears a brightly coloured top hat which is half-red and half-blue as well as Betilla the Fairy, and what is presumably an English relative of hers (who goes unnamed throughout the game) with a similar designed hat. Often levels require Rayman to work his way through a maze like level finding the correct words within a time limit to cause an exit sign to appear, while others are more linear and play more like a level from the [[Rayman 1|original game]]. Pressing R2 during a level takes you to a 'built in dictionary' where either the Magician or Betilla give hints on how to solve the problems. When all the levels are completed, Rayman is given access to [[Fin|Mr. Dark's lair]], a final level in [[Candy Chateau]] with no educational content.

Much like in Rayman Junior, the game features the [[Betilla's Garden]] tutorial levels, which can be used to practice Rayman's powers.

The '''Giant Luchador''' is the third boss of ''[[ Rayman Legends]]'' and the boss of the [[Fiesta de los Muertos]]. It is a larger version of the [[Luchador]]es from the previous level. He appeared to be a champion of his arena, until [[Rayman]] and friends seized the title, not unlike [[Reflux]] the [[Knaaren]] from ''[[Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc|Rayman 3]]''.

He resembles a giant, gray version of the [[Luchador]]es. He has several accessories on him, such as a belt with a large "K" emblazoned on it, a ring on his finger that also has a "K" on it, and a tattoo on his left arm that spells out "King". Andrew is said to be English – the entire ''[[English with Rayman]]'' game is strongly disconnected from the rest of the ''Rayman'' series in that it attempts to blend real-world locations (such as the Statue of Liberty and the World Trade Center) with the locations of [[the valley]]. The game also contains references to other countries, including Ireland and Scotland. No trace of this real-world connection is present in any other ''Rayman'' game, including ''[[Rayman Junior]]''.

==Description==
Andrew's appearance is somewhat inconsistent throughout ''English with Rayman'', although it clearly seen that highly resembles his cousin. In game, Andrews hat as a helper character is like the Magician's except that it is half bright-blue and half bright-red in colour, and dotted with white stars. These colours appear to have been chosen as they represent both the flags of the United Kingdom and the United States of America, both being English speaking countries.

However when he appears full-bodied at the end of each level, Andrew looks identical to his cousin in every way. Unlike in Rayman Junior, where the Magician fills this role, he does not move or animate at the end of level, although the accompanying sound effects to the voice over seems to suggest that this was originally intended and never implemented. This could also explain why the wrong design is used here.

At one point in the introductory sequence, [[the Magician]]'s family photo album is seen. Here, Andrew is revealed to have a shirt with a striped pattern of two colours, although what these are is unknown as the photos are in grey scale. It is likely that they would match the colour scheme of his hat, although this cannot be confirmed.

==Role in ''English with Rayman''==
At the beginning of the game, [[the Magician]] is standing with [[Betilla the Fairy]] outside a [[Mushroom|toadstool]]-like house. The Magician suddenly receives a letter from his cousin Andrew, containing a magic formula – this letter plays the same role as the [[Magic Book of Knowledge]] in ''[[Rayman Junior]]''. [[Mr Dark]] spies the letter containing the formula, and attacks, stealing it and temporarily transforming the Magician and Betilla into [[Garden Raygnome|garden gnomes.]] Once they recover, they call [[Rayman]] and ask him to recover the letter, with the help of Andrew.

Much like in ''Rayman Junior'', throughout ''English with Rayman'', Rayman is guided through the levels by helper character's hats, who give him instructions and ask the educational questions which he must answer to progress. The hats of the Magician and Betilla appear to give Rayman the level's instructions in the language that was selected at the beginning of the game (either in French, Spanish, German or Italian). However the hats of Andrew and and an English Betilla (who appears to be an un-named relative of her, complete with a similar design of hat to Andrew) play the larger role in the game, not only giving instructions in English at the beginning of each level but also being the ones that ask the questions.

At the end of each level, Andrew appears by the [[exit sign]] to congratulate Rayman in the same way that [[the Magician]] congratulated him at the end of levels in ''[[Rayman Junior]]''.

==Trivia==
*In the manual for the PlayStation version of ''Rayman Junior'', there is a section that explains what the Magicians hat does in game. However the picture that goes along side it is of Andrew's hat, despite the fact that he does not appear in the game.

The '''Giant Luchador''' is the third boss of ''[[ Rayman Legends]]'' and the boss of the [[Fiesta de los Muertos]]. It is a larger version of the [[Luchador]]es from the previous level. He appeared to be a champion of his arena, until [[Rayman]] and friends seized the title, not unlike [[Reflux]] the [[Knaaren]] from ''[[Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc|Rayman 3]]''.

==Appearance==
He resembles a giant, gray version of the [[Luchador]]es. He has several accessories on him, such as a belt with a large "K" emblazoned on it, a ring on his finger that also has a "K" on it, and a tattoo on his left arm that spells out "King". He is the only boss that does not require the [[Blue Punch]]es to defeat.
