Betina is a unique character who only appears in Rayman: The Animated Series. She is one of the slaves held prisoner at Rigatoni's intergalactic circus whom Rayman rescues. In the first two episodes of the series she is supposedly voiced by Carolyn Lawrence, though even she could not confirm that she had done Betina's voice.

Appearance
Surprisingly Betina's appearance is similar to that of Betilla the Fairy in terms of the colour of her hair and clothes, and even her name, only that she is a tall and thin ordinary girl with a wide face. Other than that, there does not seem to be any relation between her and Betilla. She has short red hair held up in a bunch, wears a yellow top and shoes, and wears light green pants. She also appears to wear a dark collar around her neck.
Oktette is orange in colour, has a blonde ponytail and wears thick black spectacles. Also like Brainox (who refers directly to ‘Rayman 1’), Oktette sometimes makes meta-references; when Rayman approaches her, she occasionally says, ‘Still playing?

Hardrox is a baby Globox and as such is one of Globox and Uglette's 650 children. He is one of the eight playable babies that appear in the Globox Disc minigame, which can be played in both Rayman Revolution and the Sega Dreamcast version of Rayman 2. In the former game, he also acts as referee in the Baby Football minigame, as well as the match outside Globox's House. However, when Globox is captured and the other babies are crying, Hardrox is nowhere to be seen. In the latter game, he can also be seen in Globox Village, the location from which the Globox Disc minigame is accessed.

Despite his name, he bears no known connection to the Hard Rocks, a level in the original Rayman game.

The image of a skull on Hardrox's belly bears a remarkable resemblance to the face of Jack Skellington, a character from the 1993 stop-motion animated film, Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. It is unclear whether this was a deliberate reference on the part of the developers.

Videogame appearances
As his name, possibly derived from the music genre 'hard rock', suggests, Hardrox is a black-coloured baby with a white skull pattern on his belly, and his head is covered in thin strands of black hair. By entering a secret code in Baby Football (tapping L2, R2, L2, R2, L2, R2, all while holding L1 and R1), the name "Steve" appears over Hardrox's head.
Catastrox is a baby Globox. He is red in colour, and is one of the few unique babies that come in colours other than the standard blue-green and pink. Catastrox seems to be insane; his eyes have a spiralling red-and-white pattern and is always slobbering. He is unsure that his name actually is Catastrox and does not know why the other babies call him such (presumably it is a portmanteau of ‘Catastrophe’ and ‘Globox’). He appears in the Globox Village in the Dreamcast version of Rayman 2, and in Rayman Revolution as a playable character in the minigame Globox Disc.
Catastrox appears to be in league with the Robo-Pirate army in some way; when he talks to Rayman, he sometimes claims, ‘No, I'm not an idiot. The proof is: all the Pirates are my friends!’. The trailer for Rayman Revolution seems to support this claim, as it shows Catastrox hatching from an egg amidst a group of four red Henchmen 800, in a scene which parodies Ridley Scott's classic science-fiction horror film Alien. Despite his possible allegiance to Admiral Razorbeard, Catastrox acts just as friendly towards Rayman as any of his siblings.
Bimbette is a baby Globox and, as such, is one of Globox and Uglette's 650 children. In the former, she can be seen in the Globox Village from which the minigame is accessed from.
Her name is most likely derived from the words ‘bimbo’ and ‘coquette’.

Description
Bimbette is a flirtatious baby Globox and her skin is a darker pink colour than that of her many sisters. She has a prominent pink bow on her head (although, like most other Globoxes, she has no hair). While her family all have white ovals on their bellies, Bimbette has a white heart-shape. Unlike her sisters, Bimbette (a self-proclaimed ‘coquette’) is strangely suggestive when speaking with Rayman; in the Globox Village, she says, ‘It's so hot here! I wish I could take off my ... but I don't dare.’ Presumably she is talking about her bow.

Role in the games
In Rayman Revolution, Rayman encounters Bimbette when he destroys the cage hanging from the ceiling of the top room in the Pirate Factory. She was going to be used as a guinea pig for the Spyglass Pirate to test a new weapon on, and, when freed, quickly warns Rayman to prepare himself for battle. When Boss Biditank arrives, Bimbette rushes over to the laser and tells Rayman to press the generators to turn it on. Throughout the battle, she resides on the laser. After the Spyglass Pirate is defeated, Bimbette leaves the Pirate Factory for good.

In the Dreamcast version of Rayman 2, Bimbette can be found running around in the Globox Village with her siblings.

In both the Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 versions, Bimbette is a playable character in Globox Disc.
Brainox appears to suffer from albinism – he has white skin and red pupils. He also wears a ragged black bow tie. As his name suggests, he is a very intelligent baby, like his sister Oktette. He sometimes makes a meta-fictional reference by saying to the hero, ‘I've seen you somewhere before. Weren't you in Rayman 1?’ He shows great fascination with Rayman's limblessness, proclaiming ‘No arms and no legs? You're a fascinating enigma.’ This sentiment is strange, considering the fact that all Globoxes, including Brainox, have floating, disconnected feet like Rayman's.
A Baby Globox is one of Globox and Uglette's 650 children. Along with their parents, baby Globoxes first appear in Rayman 2: The Great Escape and its remakes, where it appears that a large number of them are prisoners held on the Buccaneer. Those who had not been captured would appear either individually or in groups, and are usually seen cheering Rayman on or crying for their missing father. Baby Globoxes reappeared in Rayman Raving Rabbids with a major role and a significant change in their appearance.

Colours
Most of the baby Globoxes are the same colour as their father Globox, an indication that a large number of them are male, though there are a few of them that are found in colours other than blue-green. These particular Globoxes can be found in the Globox Village (Globox's House in Revolution), and are playable characters in the bonus mini-games involving Baby Globoxes. Female Globoxes are generally as a rule some shade of red, usually pink.
In the Baby Football multiplayer minigame (which is exclusive to Rayman Revolution), if the player inputs a code (tapping L2, R2, L2, R2, L2, R2, all while holding L1 and R1), names appear over the heads of each of the baby Globoxes. The names which appear over the male blue babies are Reno, Arno, Poc and Druid; and the names which appear over the heads of the pink female babies are Coach, Iki, Lolo and Mike. Hardrox, who is the referee of the baby Globoxes' football match, has the name "Steve" appear over his head. All of these names are either first names or nicknames of developers who worked on the game, and all can be seen during the game's credits.
Unicef
At the time Rayman Raving Rabbids had been released, the baby Globoxes had been redesigned, and appear in a number of French adverts for Unicef in which a Rabbid would treat one unfairly, for example, it would eat a lot of food but not give the baby Globox any, until Rayman would come along and pull down a blind which had messages in French saying "I have the right to eat!". Three of these adverts were made and they were to raise awareness of the rights of children in a humorous manner, particularly those in third world countries. The messages were:

* On a tous le droit de manger! (We have the right to eat!)

Globox is a major character in the Rayman series who makes his début in Rayman 2: The Great Escape, followed with major roles in Rayman M, Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc and multiple handheld games. He is Rayman's best friend and has been since the events of Rayman Origins, though how exactly they came to meet is currently unknown.

Character description
Appearance
Globox resembles a large, fat amphibian, and is blue-green in colour with a pale yellow belly and hands. While the rest of his body is fat and heavy, he has long thin arms, and his webbed feet and small eyes float separately from his body. He is noticeably taller than most of the inhabitants of the Glade, with the exception of such characters as Ly the Fairy and Clark the Giant. Globox has an extremely large mouth with a long purple tongue, and he often uses it to store things such as Silver Lums, and, accidentally, André. His children have the same ability, as was shown when, late in the events of Rayman 2, one of his sons swallowed the fourth Mask of Polokus when he found it in the Pirate Mines and gave it to Rayman once the latter had freed him and his siblings from the Spyglass Pirate's Robot Dinosaur.

Abilities
Physically, Globox is quite strong, and provided that he has the confidence to (under the influence of plum juice in Rayman: Hoodlums' Revenge), he can inflict a strong blow on enemies, namely Hoodlums. Unfortunately, he is allergic to plum juice, and when André was inside his stomach, he would force Globox to drink some and then suffer from its effects, which include getting drunk and burping out giant, bouncy bubbles. At an early point in Rayman 3, he realises that he can swim, even swimming up an entire waterfall. Plum Juice can also give him an ability to fly, or float, into the air, allowing him to avoid such terrains in Rayman 3 that would prove difficult. This was most likely to have been inspired by this hovering technique in Rayman M. All versions of Rayman M suggest that he can run as fast as the others, despite his weight, but elsewhere he tends to walk slowly in a nervous state.

Globox has the power to form rainclouds, albeit small ones that draw enough rain to grow a plant quickly, put out fires and to rust a Robo-Pirate as self defence. Most other species would have to use a Rain Mask, which one of his children gives to Rayman at a later point in Rayman Revolution.

Personality
Globox is generally a warm and friendly character and a proud father of more than 650 children, though simple and very shy. Having been captured at least once in Rayman 2, he has grown an irrational fear of the Robo-Pirates, and often when he senses that they are near, he will run away and hide (notable in the Canopy), until he is sure that Rayman had destroyed them all. Similarly, he displays this fear in Rayman 3, this time of the Hoodlums and their attacks, unless he's under the influence of plum juice.

In Rayman 2, Globox speaks in broken English and has a deep voice, but in Rayman 3, his English has improved and his voice has attained a higher pitch.

Globox's personality changes between Rayman 2 and Rayman 3. While he remains Rayman's daft sidekick in both games, in Rayman 2 he is potrayed as a dim but loveable and well-meaning character, whereas in Rayman 3 he seems more articulate but less intelligent, and acts rude at times. While very cowardly in Rayman 2, in Globox can become very rash while under the influence of Plum Juice in Rayman 3, yelling drunken taunts at the Hoodlums and sometimes standing defiantly in their line of fire (though he is never hurt by this).

Biography
Globox and his family were created by Polokus as part of the non-magical People, as a result of the spirit's sense of humour. He was originally called "Globber", a name that he has now passed down to one of his children in order to rename himself. Together with his mate, Uglette, he is the proud father of 650 small children at the last count. In Rayman Revolution, it was revealed that he and his family live in a tree house near the Canopy, though in the Dreamcast version of Rayman 2, they live in a secret location hidden in the Woods of Light, called the Globox Village.

Videogame appearances
Rayman 2: The Great Escape
Globox's story begins even before the game starts, where he is by Rayman's side among an ambush in the Great Forest. There, he doesn't put up much of a fight, but he helps by rusting up a few Pirates with his Rain Dance. Rayman praises his efforts, but gets distracted by Ly's telepathy, and gets captured, leaving Globox with no choice but to be sent by his limbless friend to find Ly in person and ask for further instructions. Ly gives him a Silver Lum, and then gets captured himself.

On the Buccaneer, Globox is thrown into the same cell as Rayman, and give him the Silver Lum, which allows him to shoot with his fist. Rayman tries it on a metal grate covering an air vent, and together, he and Globox goes down the chute. However, Globox knocks Rayman off the edge, and they become separated. From this point until he meets Sssssam in the Marshes of Awakening, who tells him that Globox has been taken beyond the Marshes, the limbless hero doesn't know where his amphibious friend had got to.

Later in the game, Globox is recaptured by the Robo-Pirates and is imprisoned in the Canopy. A sign there refers to him as ‘Public Enemy #2’. Once Rayman frees him, Globox joins him for the remainder of the level. He puts his Rain Dance to good use by growing plants, putting out fires and short-circuiting electric bars. However, upon the sight of a Warship, Globox runs back the way they came into a cave. Rayman goes back to reassure his friend that there's nothing to be scared of, and then, Globox remembers to give him a Silver Lum which upgrades the power of his magic fist. At the end of the level, Globox takes leave of Rayman, insisting that he must go and find his wife, Uglette.

Unfortunately, Globox gets captured again at the near end of the game, this time used as live bait to lure Rayman to the Crow's Nest. When he gets here, Razorbeard shoots him, but misses and hits the pole that hangs Globox upside down, but he insists that Rayman should carry on fighting the Grolgoth rather than saving him. It is unknown how he got down after the Crow's Nest fell apart, but whatever happens, he ends up back on the ground safely by the time he and his friends mourn their hero after the Buccaneer explodes, until Rayman turns up alive.

Rayman Revolution
Though Globox's primary roles in Revolution were similar to those in Rayman 2, a few new elements were added. In Revolution, Globox does not grant Rayman the ability to shoot his Magic Fist, but instead simply allows Rayman to punch. Globox's house, children, and relation with Uglette are depicted in a larger scale; one of his daughters is an important character later in the game, Uglette is constantly seen worrying about Globox, and his cliffside house's acres of land are the setting for the middle third of the game. Globox joins Rayman on a few occasions in a fashion similar to Clark or Globox's role in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. Globox must be taken past Whale Bay to use his Rain Dance so as to enable entry to the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire.

Rayman M/Arena/Rush
In Rayman M, Rayman Arena and Rayman Rush, Globox is one of the initially available characters.

Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc
Globox remains physically similar to his original appearance, though had become a comedic sidekick for this next appearance. Globox plays a major plot role, having accidentally swallowed André and having to find a doctor who would find a way to remove André from Globox during the first half of the game. During this time, Globox is forced by André to drink Plum Juice, despite his allergies, and during a somewhat drunken state he gains special abilities for short periods of time that are needed to progress Rayman through the game or move Globox forward through the level (by floating). Through the second half he plays a lesser role, though tends to follow Rayman on their journey, ocasionally bringing up the odd surprise. He is notably voice acted by actor John Leguizamo.

Rayman: Hoodlums' Revenge
In Rayman: Hoodlums' Revenge, Globox follows Rayman through much of the game, similar to Rayman 3. Globox is also a playable character in some levels. Often times there will be a puzzle-like sequence of events that requires the player to use both Rayman and Globox to move forward in the level. As Andre has been consumed once more, Globox can use the effects of plum juice to do certain things to move on in the stage, such as breaking metal bars.

Rayman Raving Rabbids (GBA)
Globox makes a brief cameo appearence at the beginning of the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman Raving Rabbids. He is seen in the Agony jails where he thanks Rayman to have freed him.

Rayman Kart
Globox makes an appearence as a playable character in Rayman Kart. He is unlocked from the start and his special power is to drop three baby Globoxes on the track.

Rayman Origins
Globox is set to appear in the upcoming Rayman Origins. He will be a playable character in the game's co-op mode. The game will show Rayman's first meeting with Globox, prior to the events of Rayman 1. It is said that Globox is Rayman's ‘double, his blood brother, his id’. The game will show how the ‘uncontrollable individual’ Rayman and the ‘grotesque creature’ Globox became the heroes we know today. Origins reveals that Globox is one of a group of beings known as the Red Wizards; like the others, Globox was originally red, but he became blue when attacked by blue mosquitoes.

Trivia
*Globox was one of the six collectible Rayman 2 figures given away with French McDonald's Happy Meals.
*Although not seen in the game, he has a default score of 12000 in Rayman Raving Rabbids 2.
*Globox was going to make an appearance in Rayman Raving Rabbids 2, as a character Rayman was going to rescue from the Rabbids, but this idea was scrapped.
*During Rayman 2's production, Globox's original name was Globber.
*It's interesting to note that most male Globoxes end with the suffix 'ox' and most females have 'ette' at the end of their name: Uglette, Brainox and Catastrox are some of the names that follow this rule.
*In a later state of production of Rayman 2, Globox had originally 35 sons and one of them was named Globs .
The Magician is a major limbless character that makes his first appearance in the original Rayman, and later appearing in several educational spin-offs of the game, such as Rayman Junior and English with Rayman.

Character description
Appearance
In the original Rayman, the Magician appears to be part of the same limbless species as Rayman. He bears all of the signature traits – lack of limbs, large nose and white gloves. He has long blonde hair that nearly reaches the ground, and his eyes are always covered by his long black top hat, which shines in blue and purple and has a gold star on the front. (He often retreats into this hat, and can be found hiding inside it in many levels.) He has also been seen wearing shirts of two colours – in the introduction sequence of Rayman, he wears a purple shirt with two blue buttons, but in the game itself, this is blue with golden buttons. The colour of his shoes – purple and orchid – remain the same, but with different stripe patterns. He is also noticeably shorter than Rayman is in Rayman, but in the educational games, he is approximately the same height as Betilla the Fairy. According to English with Rayman, the Magician has a cousin named Andrew.

In Rayman Origins, the Magician is no longer a member of Rayman's species – like several other characters, he has been redesigned to better fit the world established in the Rayman sequels. The Magician is now a grey-haired Teensie who wears a purple shirt and a black coat. He still has his signature, star-adorned top hat, and can still be found hiding inside it in various levels.

Video game appearances
Rayman
The Magician first appears in the introduction of Rayman, in which he tells the story of how Mr Dark stole the Great Protoon and brought about the collapse of the valley's natural stability. He calls on Rayman to go and free the Electoons from the cages that hostile beings had imprisoned them in, as well as bring the Great Protoon back from the Candy Château.

Rayman can come across the Magician's hat several times throughout the game. The Magician only emerges from it if Rayman has at least ten Tings; if not, he will clearly indicate with his hand that the hero will need them. If Rayman does have at least ten Tings, he automatically reaches out and drops them into the Magician's outstretched hand. The Magician then teleports Rayman to one of his bonus levels. In these secret areas, Rayman must collect all the Tings within the time limit. If he succeeds, he wins an extra life. Only a single life can be won in each bonus level. Subsequent victories in the same bonus levels are purely for fun, and also record the time taken by the player so that they can attempt to beat their records if they wish.

Rayman Junior
In several of the educational versions of the original game, such as Rayman Junior, the Magician's roles are looked into considerably more. He introduces the story of the game once again, only this time, he tells of how Mister Dark had broken into his cottage, stole the Great Book of Knowledge and destroyed the map to the villain's hideout. Once again, he and Betilla the Fairy call on Rayman to retrieve the pieces of the map and the book.

Instead of providing bonus areas, the Magician now helps Rayman to solve the many problems (spelling and mathematical problems for the young player) throughout the journey. When Rayman starts a level, the Magician will give him an overview of the specific tasks he needs to do in order to complete it. After that, his hat will appear several times, and each time Rayman passes one, the Magician will either ask a new question or remind him of the level's task. At the very end of the last stage in the level, he will appear somewhere once the final task is done, and when Rayman finds him, he mostly does a different performance, such as doing a dance or rapping 90's style, while praising Rayman for what he has done.

Rayman Origins
The Magician makes his first chronological appeareance in the prequel game Rayman Origins. He is first encountered at the beginning of the game: he is found inside his distinctive top hat, which is sitting on the ground outside the Snoring Tree. Each time one of the players jumps on the hat, the Magician offers a few words of advice. The hat appears in many places throughout the game, and the players can jump on it at any time for tips relevant to their current situation. At the end of each level, he is seen holding a test tube which he uses to count the number of Yellow Lums collected by the players. Certain numbers of Yellow Lums will unlock further Electoon cages. In these post-level screens, the Magician can be seen fully: he is revealed to be a Teensie rather than a member of Rayman's species, and his hair is grey rather than blonde.
Polokus, also known as the Bubble Dreamer, is a divine character who appears in Rayman 2: The Great Escape and Rayman Origins. He is said to be the spirit of the world. According to legend, he created the Glade of Dreams and its inhabitants through the sheer power of his thoughts, desires and imagination.

Appearance
Polokus is a shape-shifter and has no fixed form. In Rayman 2, he appears as a pale, squat, somewhat amphibious creature with long, spindly arms, He stands atop a stone column designed as a receptacle for the four Masks of Polokus, and wears a pair of blue-green trousers with a golden buckle and a magician's hat identical to Jano's. This may be Polokus's true form.

In Rayman Origins, Polokus is known as the Bubble Dreamer. He assumes a variety of forms throughout the game; the one feature that seems to be common to all of them is his bubble-blowing pipe, which appears to be an instrument he uses to convert his dreams to reality. Artwork for the game depicts the Bubble Dreamer as a rock, a giant tree and a shaolin master who somewhat resembles his form in Rayman 2.
Biography
Polokus himself was created by the Yellow, Red, Purple and Blue Lums. His power was such that his smallest dream or desire became reality. He is a god, but his connection with other gods such as the Leptys is largely unknown.

Polokus created the Glade of Dreams, then decided to use his powers to bring people to his world. First, he created the fairies, who are his emissaries. The fairies were the creators of a fifth type of Lum, the Silver Lums; these are what give Rayman his powers. Next, Polokus created the Teensies, whose purpose is to unveil all the secret passages of the world. The Teensies constructed the Hall of Doors, a magic place where all paths eventually come together. Next, he created simpler creatures, beginning with Clark the Giant, whose strength Polokus used to help carve the landscape. Next, Polokus created Globox and his family, drawing upon his sense of humour for inspiration. Polokus then created a multitude of fantastic creatures, such as Murfy and Eig.

Having created all the creatures of the world, one task remained: creating time. In order to do this, Polokus went into a deep sleep to have a meeting with all the other gods of all the other worlds so that they could dream up the future together, a task which Polokus was unable to perform himself. Before doing this, Polokus created four masks that, when reunited, would awaken Polokus in case there was trouble. To avoid anyone waking him needlessly, he hid them in four Sanctuaries and placed Guardians there to protect them, each one with a weakness. This was done in such a way that only one being could get these masks: Rayman. Before going to sleep, Polokus explained this situation to the fairies, that they might aid Rayman when the time came to awaken him.

It is when Razorbeard and his Robo-Pirate army attack in Rayman 2: The Great Escape that Rayman must collect the four masks. After every time Rayman collects a mask, he meets Polokus in his dreams. Polokus takes the mask and urges Rayman to find the rest. After Rayman finds them all, Polokus explains that Rayman will have to fight Razorbeard on the Buccaneer, because on the earth, Polokus is unbeatable but when in the air, he is as vulnerable as a newborn. Then he gives Rayman maximum energy and teleports him to the Prison Ship. Polokus then eliminates all the Robo-Pirates infesting the planet.

At the end of Rayman 2, Polokus joins the other characters at Rayman's funeral, looking very sad. Then Rayman arrives, alive and well, and everyone, including Polokus, celebrates.

The French magazine Jeux Vidéo Magazine revealed in a interview about Rayman Origins that players will learn more about Polokus himself, referred to as the ‘Bubble Dreamer’ in this game. The good-natured god likes to live amongst his creations, and will be encountered in several different forms by the player. The plot of the game revolves around Rayman's attempts to amuse Polokus and ease his nightmares, which are causing disasters (such as benevolent Electoons morphing into dangerous Darktoons).

Rayman Origins is a 2D sidescroller platform game, and the fourth major title in the Rayman series. It was announced by Ubisoft at E3 2010, and is the first major Rayman game since the creation of the Raving Rabbids series. It also marks the return of Rayman creator Michel Ancel to the series; he had not worked on a Rayman title since Rayman 2 in 1999.

Description
Although it was originally announced that Rayman Origins would receive an episodic release, this approach was eventually scrapped: the game will instead be given a retail release in late 2011, in order that it might be a 'real sequel', in the words of Ancel. Two European On-Line shops revealed in the beggining of August the existance of a Collector's Edition for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms and it will contain a special box, a sixty-four pages artbook and a soundtrack disc. The game will feature four-player co-operative play, with the players controlling Rayman, Globox and two Teensies; however, it will still be possible to play through the game in single-player mode. As in Rayman M, all playable characters will share the same abilities. Chronologically, Origins is a prequel to the original Rayman game, and will explore how ‘...this uncontrollable individual (Rayman) and his grotesque companion (Globox) become the heroes that we know...’ The game's trailer finally reveals Rayman's origins, which were hinted at in the Knowledge of the World in Rayman 2 eleven years before: ‘Conjured from the magnificent moonbeams of the second summer solstice, woven together by [the] nymphs, destined to preserve the equilibrium of the sacred universe: the one we call... Rayman!’ The ‘nymph’ who creates Rayman may be a younger version of Betilla the Fairy. The game will return to the original's health and damage style: instead of a single health bar, Rayman's life energy will once more be divided into bubbles (in-game footage shows Rayman starting a level with five yellow health bubbles and three red damage ones). Origins will be a relatively easy game, as many players were unable to complete the original due to its extreme difficulty. The level design is intended to suit various gameplay styles: players who like collecting and players who like speedruns should both be satisfied. Lums will return, and, as in Rayman Revolution, they will act as currency: the player can use them to purchase power-ups, health upgrades and 'I Dare You' challenges (complex acrobatic minigames in which the player can make wagers).

Levels
While featuring numerous original environments, Rayman Origins will also be the first game in the series to revisit locations explored in previous games. The game will be divided into three phases. In the first phase, the player will make their way through six worlds – Jungle, Music, Food, Mountain, Ocean and Picture – in a pre-set order. Each world ends with the characters gaining new powers, such as the ability to dive underwater or change their size. Once the first phase is complete, the second phase can be accessed: new levels become available in each of the six worlds, and this time the player can play them in any order they want. When this phase is complete, then the game's ending becomes available, along with the third and final phase. It contains only one world – the Land of the Dead. Levels here can be unlocked by collecting the Skull Coins hidden throughout the game. Some of the game's seven worlds are split into more than one ‘environment’; there are a total of twelve environments in the game. Each world is divided into many levels; there are a total of sixty-six levels in the game. Descriptions of the seven worlds follow.

*Jibberish Jungle – Rayman is born in the Primordial Forest, indicating that this jungle is in fact the Dream Forest from the original game. It seems that this level's bosses are a monstrous daisy and a gigantic living statue.

*The Desert of Didgeridoos – Rayman must use gongs to create sound waves which shield him from swarms of black flying creatures which resemble locusts. Spiky balls from the original game reappear. This world is composed mainly on music and musical instruments. It seems to be based on Band Land, a location which has not been seen since the original game.

*The Gourmand Lands – several screenshots show the protagonists making their way through a surreal environment made of food and cooking materials. This area is known as the Infernal Kitchen, and its aesthetic is inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead celebration. This land is home to Baby Dragon Chefs – small, red, reptilian enemies who attack the heroes with their forks. Another environment in the Gourmand Lands is Frosty Delights, an icy landscape which features cocktail elements such as giant orange slices. It may have been inspired by the Glacier Cocktail level from Tonic Trouble.

*The Sea of Serendipity – footage shows Rayman and Globox swimming near the sea floor, surrounded by marine life. They are chased by gigantic aquatic insects. Above the surface of the ocean, a tribe of Globox's species lives in a village supported on stilts.

*Mystic Peak – screenshots depict a mountain location surrounded by floating landmasses which recall the floating earth platforms of the original game. The mountain is dotted with small buildings. Its peak is hidden by clouds, but the tentacles of another boss – a gigantic pink monster resembling a squid – can be seen descending from its heights. Moody Clouds, a steampunk level in which Rayman rides on the back of Moskito, who shoots enemies down with the energy projectiles from his proboscis, is part of Mystic Peak.

*Picture – a world composed entirely of artwork and art supplies. Based on Picture City from the original game. In Rayman Origins it will feature references to art styles such as pop art and pixel art.

*The Land of the Dead – a level with a strong resemblance to both the Cave of Bad Dreams and Tomb of the Ancients from Rayman 2. This is where the game's villains live; the antics of the protagonists annoy the villains, setting the events of the game in motion. Its name is very similar to that of the Land of the Livid Dead, a Rayman 3 level. The Land of the Dead has a golden palette, and features giant skulls, bones and cobwebs. Concept art depicts graveyards, insects, zombies, a strange hotdog-like character who appears to be selling hotdogs, and numerous tentacled monsters. This seems to be the final level of the game.

Other levels:

*A castle level – the trailer and a piece of concept art depict a colourful and ornate castle with many domes, built over a river which runs through a valley surrounded by jungle. This may be part of the Jungle world or the Mountain world.
*A cave level – the trailer shows Rayman sliding through a slippery, dark, mushroom-filled cavern while fighting off enemy insects.
*An organic level – similar to the Organic Cave from the cancelled Rayman 4, this level takes place within the belly of a gigantic dragon. The players much avoid flaming walls of heartburn.
