[[Rayman]], voiced by David Menkin, is one of the main characters. An alien from the parallel world of Dimension X, he is the public face of Eden, the totalitarian megacorporation which has replaced the United States of America. As such, he is the presenter of various shows, such as ''The Eden Late Show'' and ''The Eden Report'', and the face of the Rayman Kids, a youth organisation which indoctrinates children and encourages them to report suspicious actions to the regime.

==Announcement==
[[Ubisoft]] initially introduced the show in October 2019, naming it ''Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Vibe'', under the direction of Adi Shankar, known for his work on the ''Castlevania'' TV series. During Netflix's "Geeked Week" virtual event in June 2021, Shankar announced his role as the producer for the series, which draws inspiration from ''Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon'' and was therefore renamed ''Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix''. Shankar led the project, collaborating with the Paris-based animation studio Bobbypills for production. Creative direction was overseen by Balak, with Mehdi Leffad as the director. Producers from [[Ubisoft]] Film & Television included Gérard Guillemot, Hélène Juguet, and Hugo Revon.

On September 27, 2023, a trailer<ref>YouTube, ''Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix 🕹️📼👾 | Official Trailer | DROP 01 | Netflix'', https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cqWBOVszYo</ref> was published, showing [[Rayman]] as a newscaster for the totalitarian regime, and his face on many signs in the background. ==Synopsis==
The series is set in an alternative 1992 in the country formerly known as the USA. Now called Eden, it is a technocracy ruled by propaganda and corruption. Super-soldier Dolph Laserhawk has just been betrayed by the love of his life and locked up in Eden’s top security prison Supermaxx. He must now lead a team of rebel outcasts on risky undercover missions in order to survive.

Types of Rabbids

Rabbids aren't all identical, as there are a couple of specimens which have different characteristics than others. While most of them usually just differ in their clothing, there are some which differ in shape and size as well. The most unusual bunny of them all is the Sergueï, a giant, metal muzzle-wearing rabbit with red glowing eyes. It appears to be the leader (or at least main henchman) of the bunnies and it is the one responsible for throwing Rayman in jail, appearing as a guard of some sort. Another different bunny called Pink, a robotic bunny, has large, long ears and big glowing eyes. He is seen in the "Bunny Hunt" mini games with some sort of vehicle having four legs, and is the final enemy fought in the first game. The Rabbids also seem to have a larger breed, which have a considerably lower voice and appear in a darker, gray color. They mostly appear in the on-rail segments, and require multiple plungers to subdue.

The Rabbids were first introduced in a series of teaser images and videos for Rayman Raving Rabbids (then meant to be Rayman 4) officially released by Ubisoft in 2006, in which they were portrayed as zombie-like enemies that were to take over the world, akin to the [[Robo-Pirate Army]] and [[Hoodlum]]s.

However, Ubisoft changed them into cuter, less-mindless creatures during production of the game (which eventually became a spin-off instead of the 4th major installment). They and the game were a huge success, and the Rabbids have sinced appeared in the sequels: [[Rayman Raving Rabbids 2]] and [[Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party]].

==Appearance==
General Rabbids very much resemble albino rabbits - they are white with furless mouths and bellies and have dark blue eyes which turn red when crazed, but they have no noses. They are known to have loads of costumes spoofing fictional characters or everyday life.

==Personality==
Rabbids are most known for their personality. They are 100% insane. They do completely stupid things like disguise as themselves, try using tennis rackets to play soccer and destroy a town with burp. Their favorite word is 'DAAAAAAAAA!' (Which is pronounced 'BWAAAAAAAH')!, and in Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 they also had a secondry catch-phrase, which was yeah!.

In the first Rayman Raving Rabbids game, they were more animalistic and went beastial far more often, but in Rayman Raving Rabbids 2, they were slightly more human, due to them trying to copy human behaviour. In Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party, they appear to be a mix, sometimes acting more beastial, sometimes acting more 'human'.

The Rabbids come in different types. Out of the normal Rabbids, there are white Rabbids (the most common), blue Rabbids, red Rabbids, yellow Rabbids, robot Rabbids, giant Rabbids, and much more.

Alot of the normal types of Rabbids are seen wearing costumes. In the first Rabbids game, most of their costumes spoofed popular culture, but in the sequels, the Rabbids have a mix of media spoofs and culture spoofs.

There are also special types of Rabbids, such as Serguei, Pink, the Rabble Droid, Professor Barranco, and more.

*The Rabbids have had quite a few merchandise of their own. They have had many shirts, four figurines (Rabbinho, Rabbmoo, Rabbmaid and Raving Cook), a Bunny Gonzales figurine (with Rayman sitting on it) and a Wererabbid plushie (which had a normal Rabbid on one side and the Wererabbid on the other).

==Video Game Designing Career==
Ancel's first title, Mechanic Warriors, was developed for software house Lankhor. Ancel then joined Ubisoft as a graphic artist at the age of 17, where he worked on the graphics of games such as The Intruder and The Teller. In 1992, he began to work on [[Rayman (game)|Rayman]], his directorial debut. It was originally released in 1995 for the Atari Jaguar, and in 1996 for PlayStation and Sega Saturn.

Ancel was also heavily involved in the development of [[Rayman 2: The Great Escape]], but had only an advisory role on [[Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc]]. Although he praised its development team, he claims he would have "made the game differently".

In 2003, he created Beyond Good & Evil, which garnered critical acclaim and a cult following, but was a commercial failure. However, film director Peter Jackson's admiration of the game — and his frustration with EA's handling of the The Lord of the Rings license — led to Ancel being given direction of the King Kong video game adaptation. In spite of Ubisoft's reluctance to produce a Beyond Good & Evil sequel, Ancel has expressed a clear wish to produce one in the future.

On April 5, 2006, Ubisoft announced Ancel was leading the development of the fourth game in the Rayman series, [[Rayman Raving Rabbids]], for Wii. The game began production in early 2005 and was released on November 15, 2006 for the launch of the Wii. However, Ancel was notably absent from the project after its E3 announcement, and he has made no public appearances regarding the game after the development team switched focus from a free-roaming platformer to the final mini games format shortly after E3. In the final game Ancel was only credited with storyboarding and character design, while design credits were shared between multiple other people.

In a recent interview by Nintendo Power, Ancel confirms that he is working on a new project that means a lot to him. He also talks about Jade from Beyond Good & Evil and says "I really hope that Jade will continue to keep her values and her personality". Ubisoft's CEO Yves Guillemot has confirmed that Michel Ancel is currently working on several unannounced projects, as of March 2008.

In a recent interview with French video game magazine JVM (for Jeux Video Magazine), Ancel stated that a sequel to Beyond Good & Evil has been in pre-production by a small team for about a year, but they still await Ubisoft's approval before moving into full production.

On December 18, 2008, at the VGL event in Paris, Ancel stated that the game has been under development for a year and a half and that the development team have received total freedom from Ubisoft, giving them the opportunity to make the game how they want.

It was founded on August 8th 2003 by Hunchman801, an ex-moderator of the French and English sections of [[RaymanZone]], shortly after he was unfairly destituted.

Pirate Community was originally meant to be the fusion of four fan sites ([[RayMind|RaymanBD, RaymanTCG, RaymanEncyclo]], and MetalGearRayman), but soon became an influent and active internet portal, thanks to its forum, which purpose was to provide a fair and free place for [[Rayman]] fans, in opposition to the arbitrary bans occuring on [[RaymanZone]]. The first three fan sites were later merged into [[RayMind]], while the last one was discontinued.

However, the two most important Pirate Community websites are now [[RayTunes]], founded on June 20th 2006 by Drolpiraat, and [[RayWiki]], founded on January 4th 2008 by Hunchman801. Even though Pirate Community is still mostly visited for its forums, both websites have become references on the internet. On February 25th 2009, a new [[Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc|Rayman 3]] Hall of Fame was created on Pirate-Community, in order to replace the official one, which was long discontinued.

'''Rayman Zone''' was an official magazine that was published and sold only in the United Kingdom by Paragon Publishing Ltd in 2003. Copies of a slightly different edition were given to winners and runners-ups that participated in the ''[[Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc]]'' Hall of Fame competition held by the official Ubisoft website of the same name in the same year, and was later distributed in select games stores and bookstores. Those that were sold in store carried a Rayman gym bag as a free gift. Although it claimed to be a first issue, no further issues were published ever since.

==Content==
Most of the magazine's contents were centred around ''[[Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc]]'' as it was released at the time. It included detailed reviews and console comparisons of many versions of the game alone, as well as an interview with Ahmed Boukhelifa in regards to it. Along with these was a six-page article about the history of the ''Rayman'' series, and a five-page feature giving shorter reviews for the other games in the series prior to ''Rayman 3''. As it was aimed mostly towards children unlike most other games magazines, it contained puzzles and pull out posters, and some of the content was written as if it was spoken by Rayman himself. The magazine had over 50 pages, and its contents were:

'''RaymanZone''', also spelt '''Rayman Zone''', and commonly abbreviated '''RZ''', has been the official [[Rayman]] website since January 2003. However, this term mainly refers to its forum, which is known to have been the stage of several unfair bans, as well as numerous attacks (of which six full deletions) since it was created.

The different periods of its history are usually referred as eras, separated from each other by a full deletion of the forum.

==First era (January 2003 ~ December 2004)==

The forums were created in January 2003 and used the phpBB software. They featured three categories: an English, a French and a German section. They were characterised by a high frequentation, but also by inactive administrators and unfair bans. Despite the rumours of a group of skilled revengeful members already responsible for numerous spam attacks, which were largely disregarded, the system version was never updated and it resulted in the first deletion of RZ on December 20th 2004. This attack was soon proved to have been performed by the [[Anti RaymanZone Organisation]], commonly abbreviated [[Anti RaymanZone Organisation]], who sent a webworm to exploit a security issue. They claimed to have been unfairly banned from the forums and wanted to take their revenge. [[Pirate Community]] was falsely accused of being linked to [[Anti RaymanZone Organisation|ARZO]], as it was created by Hunchman801 in August 2003 after he was also unfairly banned from RaymanZone.

The first era was by far the most profilic period of RaymanZone. It is estimated that it reached more than 400,000 messages, making it the largest [[Rayman]] forum ever, even larger than [[Pirate Community]].

==Second era (May 2005 ~ August 2006)==

After several months of absence, the forums were created again from scratch in May 2005, but they were merged with the [[UbiSoft]] forums, powered by the Infopop software. This decision was highly criticised, but a certain number of users stayed, in hope of reconstructing their community, while others joined [[Pirate Community]]. On July 3th 2006, an attack performed by [[Anti RaymanZone Organisation|ARZO]] caused a hard disk to break, resulting in the loss of two days of posts for the whole [[UbiSoft|Ubi]] forums. Then, in July and August, the forums were repeatedly spammmed, until the were entirely deleted by [[Anti RaymanZone Organisation|ARZO]] on August 24th 2006. Those spam attacks were later proved to be a cover for a graduated deletion which purpose was to render any backups useless.

During the second era, it is estimated that more than 60,000 messages were posted on the English forums, the two other sections being totally inactive.

==Third era (August 2006 ~ March 2007)==

The forums started from scratch for the second time, and several members leaved because of the lack of action from [[UbiSoft]]. On January 20th 2007, an unidentified problem resulted in the loss of three months of posts, but [[Anti RaymanZone Organisation|ARZO]] never claimed to be responsible for this. The forums were however deleted by [[Anti RaymanZone Organisation|ARZO]] for the third time on March 3rd 2007.

==Fourth era (March 2007 ~ January 2008)==

The forums were deleted by [[Anti RaymanZone Organisation|ARZO]] for the fourth time on January 27th 2008.

==Fifth era (January 2008 ~ May 2008)==

On April 10th 2008, RaymanZone was heavily flooded with explicit pictures. Then, only four months after the last deletion, the forums were deleted again by [[Anti RaymanZone Organisation|ARZO]] for the fifth time on May 2nd 2008.

It is estimated that less than 1,000 messages were posted during the fifth era.

==Sixth era (May 2008 ~ October 2008)==

The whole [[UbiSoft|Ubi]] forums were backed up after the fifth deletion, but most of the content had already been deleted by [[Anti RaymanZone Organisation|ARZO]] several days before, renderring the backup hardly useful and resulting in the wrath of the other game forums. On October 17th 2008, the forums were deleted by [[Anti RaymanZone Organisation|ARZO]] for the sixth time.
