Phase 1
When Rayman emerges through the Magic Spiral Door, he arrives in a small area of land which is connected by a wooden bridge to tiny island with a bouncy mushroom in the centre. Underwater, there is a little cave in which the first cage is found. If Rayman bounces on the mushroom, he'll be propelled to the underside of a giant branch that grows right through the area, and hang onto the vines growing there. At the other side, there is a passage that leads to a body of water that is infested by piranha, meaning that Rayman cannot swim there, but he can cross it with lily pads. There are then four ledges on the wall, which leads Rayman to the other end of the branch, where a switch is found. This opens a wooden gate, where two baby Globoxes are standing by. This then leads to a small stream that takes Rayman to a lake of water that is being polluted by oil coming from a pump. In this version of the game, Rayman cannot turn it off, but he can climb on it and take the passage out of this area.

Phase 2
At first, this area seems short, but later on, a special part of the area can only be accessed via the Echoing Caves. It starts with a giant tree covered with vines, and at the bottom is a set of wooden bars from which caterpillars emerge. Rayman has to climb to the very top of the tree, and then slide down a stream, taking a passage that leads to another body of piranha-infested water. Along one side of the wall is covered with a trail of vines, which Rayman must climb on to cross.

Phase 3
Rayman is now at the pirate stronghold in which Ly the Fairy is imprisoned, and it is guarded by a Robo-pirate that constantly throws burning kegs at him. On the ground is a metal sparadrap, which can be broken by one of these. To the left is a small area with a piranha infested pond, in which another cage is hidden in. Once Rayman goes down the hole where the sparadrap was, he drops down into an underground passage. Rayman has to cross a pool of green liquid by hopping on the wooden boxes, and then climb a wall covered with cobwebs (while avoiding falling kegs) to infiltrate the building.

Once inside, Rayman notices another switch, guarded by a sleeping pirate, but it is out of his reach, so he'll have to walk around the area to get up there. Murfy then arrives to warn Rayman about the pirates he'll face, and teaches him how to lock-on to them. Then a purple Henchman 800 arrives, and once it's defeated, Rayman will enter another room in which kegs are supplied. He can either use it to defeat another sleeping purple Henchman 800, or find a secret room locked with a metal sparadrap, in which another cage is hidden in. Once that pirate is defeated, a metal grating will descend, which Rayman can climb on, and then he'll hang on to some netting on the ceiling.

Then there is a pit of acid, covered by some bouncy netting and guarded by an electric beam which can electrocute Rayman. Up the wall is a switch that will open the door at the top. Now he has found the other switch, and once he flicks it and defeats the purple Henchman 800 guarding it, he can proceed down the corridor.

Phase 4
Still in the corridor and having to avoid more moving electric beams, Rayman finds a clearing, in which Ly the Fairy is held prisoner in an electric forcefield. There is a tunnel at ground level which leads to a machine that is generating the electricity. It seems to have three weak spots, which are indicated by the metal sparadraps, but flying bombs will periodically spew from it to stop Rayman breaking the machine with kegs. Once the machine is destroyed, Ly will be free, and after a conversation with him, she'll give him a Silver Lum, which gives him the power to hang onto Purple Lums by simply shooting them, and then departs.

Rayman then has to climb back to the top of the netted ladder, shoot the Purple Lum to cross the gap, and then run into a building that leads to a giant metal pipe.

Phase 5
Several pipes are embedded in a deep chasm, and the pump oil into a pool at the bottom. Another cage is found there, guarded by a purple Henchman 800. Once he's at the bottom, Rayman will enter a vast chamber full of swirling air currents that will help him fly higher when he activates his Helicopter. A couple of these are decoys, but will still contain Yellow Lums. At the very top of this area, there is a small wooden building in which the final cage is found, and it has a Teensie trapped inside. He will then open up an exit for Rayman.
Dreamcast version
This level is almost identical to that of the original version, yet graphically enhanced, but with a few differences:

* In Phase 3, a purple Henchman 800 is found on the boxes in the pool of acid underneath the Pirate stronghold, instead of a trail of timed Red Lums. Another purple Henchman 800 is also found in the tunnel leading to the machine that powers Ly's prison in Phase 4, and a purple Henchman 800 shooting flying bombs appears near the air currents area in Phase 5.
* At the bottom of the polluted chasm in Phase 5, there is the first of 6 Glob Crystals, which are used to unlock minigames in the Globox Village, which Rayman can now access now that he has the power to swing on Purple Lums.
PlayStation version
There are many changes in the level design in this level. The entire area of the level also seems to be a Robo Pirate harvesting outpost, given the pipes that collect oil and harvest it.

Phase 1
In this area, there is no water to swim in other than a shallow pool, though the small bouncy mushroom island is still there, as is the giant branch with plant life growing underneath. But instead of the passage that leads to the switch at the top, there is another bouncy mushroom to use, and the switch opens the wooden gate as normal. A cage with a Ludiv is found, though there is no small waterfall to avoid. Then Rayman will go through the passage beyond the door, slide down a smaller stream than in the original version, and find the area with the oil pump.

This time, Ly will tell Rayman that this pump needs to be turned off, and the Rayman can swim in the water. But first he has to float on a giant barrel, and jump on bouncy mushroom to reach the switch that turns off the pump. Once Rayman is in the water, he has to swim through an underwater passage that leads to the giant vine-covered tree that he'll have to climb. Strangely enough, he encounters Antitoons in this area, perhaps as an allusion to the original Rayman. As he climbs up the tree, he'll find another Ludiv cage, then he'll come across the wall covered with vines just as before. The special area that is accessed through the Echoing Caves is not present in this version.

Phase 2
As before, there is the Pirate stronghold and the Pirate that throws burning kegs, though there is no secret passage. The underground passage and the wall of cobwebs is the same as before, but this time as Rayman climbs up, he has Yellow Lums to collect. After defeating the Pirate, he will enter a room that has a Deny cage at ground level, and Antitoons inside, and instead of grating, Rayman has to climb on giant wooden boxes to get to the netted ceiling. The rest of this phase is the same as before.

Phase 3
Instead of electric beams, the corridor in this area is guarded by red lasers that will just hurt Rayman. As before, he'll find the clearing in which Ly is imprisoned and destroy the machine that powers it. Once Rayman is given the Silver Lum and use the Purple Lum to cross the gap, instead of jumping between two walls, there is a ladder, and a Pirate. Once that is defeated, he will find the Teensie cage, and then exit the level.
PlayStation 2 version
Rayman Revolution also sees many changes applied to the Fairy Glade. As a result, more backtracking will be required to find all the Yellow Lums and cages.

* The first change is that in the waters in Phase 1, there are no Blue Lums but rather a stream of small air bubbles Rayman will have to breathe from.
* Rayman will encounter a Pirate in the passage that leads to the first switch of the level.
* In the area with the oil pump, not only is there another Pirate, there is also a yellow mushroom. Above it is a Purple Lum and three Yellow Lums, but Rayman will have to return to that once he gets the power to swing onto Purple Lums.
* In Phase 2, at the area with the tree covered with vines, there is another Pirate at ground level. Then in the next area, there is a funny looking plant that has to be watered with the Rain Mask later on in the game. When it grows, it can then be used to access the area of the level which in previous versions, could be backtracked vis the Echoing Caves.
* In Phase 3, instead of the passage in the left of the Pirate stronghold, there is now a ledge in which there is a tiny mushroom. Like the plant earlier on, this has to be watered with the Rain Mask, and once it's grown, Rayman can eat it. Alluding to the blue elves in the original Rayman, this mushroom will make him shrink, and then he can squeeze through a hole in a pile of rocks and find the hidden cage. He'll have to defeat a pirate while he is still tiny, too. Another mushroom is then found, grown and eaten to bring him back to normal size.
* The underground passage with the pool of acid and cobwebbed wall remains the same, but this time, the door is barred with electric bars which have to be deactivated with a switch. Then, there is no clearing in this area, but rather a room with with a book cabinet.
* In the room with the kegs, a metal sparadrap on the pipes needs to be destroyed to lower the metal grating. The secret room with the cage also appears to have three small prisons. There is no netting on the ceiling, but rather a wooden floor, and the switch that opens the door is on another wall. Then, near the extra Pirate, there is a dining room, and then Rayman finds the switch that will deactivate the electric bars, and moves on.
* Phase 4 holds the most notable of differences in level design. Instead of a clearing, there is a prison, full of cages and rooms in which a number of Yellow Lums are found. Instead of one machine that powers Ly's prison, it is a cluster of many machines, though the three weaknesses are still there. One machine has a hidden cage.
* In Phase 4, if Rayman keeps to the far left of the pipe he stands on, the machine automatically destroys the helicopter bombs it produces.
* Phase 5 also sees a number of changes, namely in the textures of the environment, and in the area with the air currents, Parachute Pirates will descend. There is also a secret passage that leads to a cage which is accessed with a Purple Lum.
The Cave of Bad Dreams, also known as the Kingdom of the Dead, is a sub-level in Rayman 2: The Great Escape and its remakes. It is where the monsters generated by Polokus's nightmares are locked away by its Guardian, Jano, who also watches over a mountain of gold coins and jewels. Despite this, nobody has dared to enter the Cave, not even Razorbeard and the Robo-Pirates. Therefore, there are no cages to be found inside. Rayman, however, needs to go there in order to obtain the Elixir of Life, which his friend Clark needs to recover from an illness caused by swallowing a rusty Robo-Pirate. The entrance to this subterranean grotto is located in the Marshes of Awakening.
Before entering the Cave, Rayman has to remember the name of it, as Clark tells him in the Menhir Hills, otherwise Jano will shoo him away. In this version of the game, it is found by walking on a giant branch to Rayman's left at the beginning of the Marshes of Awakening, until he sees Jano standing behind walls of cobwebs. The area is restricted as unknown territory by The Robo Pirate Army, thus they have no presence there or inside The Cave. Provided that he reads that Rayman knows the name of this place, he will shake his skull headed stick which hypnotises Rayman and teleports him to the inside of the Cave.

Phase 1
Down the backbone of a gigantic animal, there is a Purple Lum to grab to cross a wide gap with rivers of living thorns at the bottom. Skulls fall down into this, and Rayman uses them to get across some more, as well as climbing on walls with bones embedded into them. Then there is a wide hole in which a skeletal clawed hand pops out to grab Rayman and pull him into the unknown, but that can be prevented by shooting at them. After that, there are three pillars with climbable bones that sink as soon as Rayman grabs on.

Down the next corridor which is riddled with more skeletal hands, there is a double wall Rayman can wall jump inside of, but from time to time they space themselves out so he can't climb up, and then close in. At the top, there is now a chasm, and on a wide edge there is a gold pedestal, like the one found in the Sanctuary of Water and Ice guarded by Mini Janos. About four to six of these appear, two at a time, and they all need to be defeated in order for the matching Magic Sphere to appear. Once they join, the pedestal moves and Rayman has to drop down the hole it reveals.

Now there are two more pedestals, which surround a carving on the wall that looks like the one-eyed monsters Rayman had just encountered. To his left is a ledge that leads to two passages to choose from - each one is where a Magic Sphere can be found. The silver sphere is found in the passage of the left, the gold one to the right. In the silver chamber, there are giant slabs of stone that rotate on top of tall rocks, which Rayman needs to cross and throw the sphere back and then carry it to its correct pedestal. In the gold chamber, there is a skull supported by a skeletal arm, which moves Rayman across the gap to the other side. Another moving double wall is passed through onto another moving skull, which leads to a series of pillars that are teeming with shadow creatures. Near them is a skull that moves upwards to a ledge where the gold sphere is found. This chamber is circular, so all Rayman needs to do is throw it down a few ledges rather than going all the way back. When both of the spheres are placed on their pedestals, the carving opens up by the mouth, and Rayman drops down a hole that is covered fragile shards of green crystal.

Phase 2
Rayman is now in a passage with a slope covered with shining green crystal, and then Jano reappears from underground, threatening to eat him. So he now has to slide down, shooting any crystal growths that are in his way - if he slides too slowly, Jano will eat him, causing him to respawn at the beginning. At the end, he will enter a chasm where he has to avoid the fire that Jano breathes, just like his smaller counterparts. Jano will then generate floating skulls which can be stopped by Rayman's shots, and then he can jump from them to get to where Jano is standing. Jano, who is invincible, will keep breathing fire and generating skulls until he is chased to the far end of the chasm by Rayman, and then dig himself underground, allowing the limbless hero to walk into a chamber piled with treasure.

A single coin is flicked and rolls to his feet, and Jano them offers him all this treasure to keep for himself. There are two options to choose from - "I want the treasure", and "No treasure for me". The former is obviously the greedy choice, but if Rayman chooses that, he will be taken to a small deserted island where he gains a drastic amount of weight, and lazes in a deckchair with a fraction of his gold surrounding him. This scene pretends to be an ending, with the words "THE END" appearing, but then it returns to Rayman's decision. Rejecting the treasure, he is teleported back to the Marshes of Awakening, and congratulated by Jano for not being greedy. As a reward, Jano gives him the Elixer of Life to take to Clark back at the Menhir Hills.

PlayStation version
In this version of the game, the Cave of Bad Dreams is not a sub level, but a true level that follows the Menhir Hills. This means that Rayman will not need to travel back to the Marshes of Awakening to find the cave's entrance. The sub plot involving Clark and the elixir is still present, however.

Phase 1
While there is still a backbone, it has been split to different platforms to run and jump across. Much of this part of the phase remains the same, but instead of the moving double wall, there are three Purple Lums to use to get to the top of chasm in which the Mini Janos roam. There are only two of these, but they have a much stronger resistance than those in the original version.

Phase 2
In this version of the game, Phase 2 begins at the two pedestals and the one eyed monster carving on the wall. Much of this area stays the same as that in the original version, except for the appearance of jumping eyes – previously seen at the entrance of the Cave in the Marshes of Awakening - in the gold passage.

Phase 3
In this phase, Rayman is chased by Jano down the green crystal slide, which remains the same as that in the original version.

Phase 4
The confrontation with Jano begins, where he will use the same techniques – breathing fire and generating skulls – as before. The only differences here is that some pillars will fall when Rayman steps on them. At the end, he will automatically refuse the treasure, which convinces Jano to give him the Elixir of Life.

| familiarspirits =
}}

PlayStation 2 version
In this version of the game, the Cave of Bad Dreams is located at the end of the Marshes of Awakening, which should only be visited once Clark tells Rayman the name of the Cave. Apart from graphical enhancements, much of this level remains the same as before, though there are no Yellow Lums to collect. There is also an extra ledge in the chasm with the first gold pedestal, on which more of the Mini Janos roam. Defeating these does not reveal anything.

Unlike the previous versions, in which the Cave can be revisited, it can only be visited once, and Jano will not be at the end of the Marshes to take Rayman back in again because there are no Yellow Lums.

* This article is about the pirates from Rayman 2. For the pirates from Rayman, see Pirate (Picture City).

"Rayman, look what the Pirates have done to our world... A planet of anguish and pain, haunted by evil. A dark place, teeming with fierce monsters." - Ly the Fairy, Rayman 2

The Robo-Pirates (or Henchmen) are an army of robotic pirates that invaded Rayman's world in Rayman 2. They all willingly serve Admiral Razorbeard, but do seem to have their own personalities.
Appearance
The majority of the Henchmen are largely the same. Their head is like a metallic skull with an earring on one side, with a face like the front of a steam engine. Also, one eye is completely black, as if they have an eye patch. Their torso basically consists of a cube-like shape with a coloured vest on it. The vest is slightly torn at the bottom. They have two arms, both of which end in a cylinder-like structure. On one side, the cylinder is hollow - this is where they fire their bullets from. The other side has a large hook, which they often use for swiping at close range. Their two legs have striped pants that are similar to the vest in that they are torn at the bottom. Their feet are basically black shoes with gold-ish buckles on them.

Models
There are many different pirate models, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.

Basic Henchman
The basic Henchman are the standard model, that come in different colours and have different weapons, but all look largely the same. They sometimes appear in the level by parachuting or drilling up through the ground. More than often they are found sleeping on the job. The Henchman 800s are the most common of the Basic Henchman.

Green
The Green Henchmen are mainly the Officers of Security and are in charge of Guardien Tacticts. These have a green vest with green and white striped pants. They have very little health and generally just stand still and slowly shoot, however they sometimes throw powder kegs. In the PlayStation version, however, they have a lot of life, making them difficult to kill, but only ever throw kegs.

Blue
They're the same as the Green Henchmen, except blue instead of green and has a little life. They appeared in Rayman 2 and Rayman DS at the Fairy Glade, the Sanctuary of Water and Ice or the Lost Island, and the Menhir Hills. The Blue Henchmen are the uncommon Henchman 800s. The Blue Henchmen never appeared in Rayman Revolution.

Purple
These are much like the Green Henchmen, except purple instead of green, and they have much more life, and have brass hooks. Their bullets are often larger, and they have a habit of firing multiple bullets in quick succession. They move around a bit, sometimes jumping to dodge Rayman's attacks. In the PlayStation version, their bullets are the same but are always fired in sets of three, in between running back and forth. They have more life in the PlayStation version, but not as much as the Green Henchmen. They're given a similar appearence to the Blue Henchmen.

Yellow/Orange
The Yellow Henchmen have much more life, but move very little. Instead of bullets, they launch streams of fire, which move very quickly, and also throw cannonballs which start a fire where they land which causes damage when Rayman walks on it. Yellow Henchmen do not appear in the PlayStation version, but are instead replaced with Orange Henchmen. The Orange Henchmen have more life, and move around a lot via their drills. They don't throw cannonballs, and instead of a fire stream, just shoot large fireballs.

Red
These Henchmen, also known as Red Rum, are the strongest of the standard Henchmen, and appear with red vests and red and yellow stripes on their pants. In the original Rayman 2, they are the strongest Henchmen, but vary in some ways. Some of them have more health then all other henchmen and fire large cannonballs, usually three at a time. Other times they shoot the normal size cannonballs and drill through the ground, hoping to hit Rayman. One interesting feature of these Pirates is that they can instantly kill Rayman if he steps on the place from which they drill upwards from underground (go to the External Links to see this). In Rayman Revolution, they fire missiles which can home in on Rayman, but these can be destroyed by Rayman's shots. Red Henchmen have lots of life. However, in the PlayStation version, their rank is inverted and they have very little life and fire only basic shots. Two Red Henchmen are used as the bodyguards in front of Razorbeard's cabin, even in the PlayStation version. Two of them (likely the same two) also carry Globox to his prison cell in the opening movie. Later on, one of the bodyguards puts his foot out to trip Razorbeard's lackey, indicating that they may have some kind of personality, or at least a sense of humour.

Henchman 1000
Main article: Henchman 1000<br>

An older version of the Henchman 800. These types of robo-pirates are similar to the newer ones, but with a retro design and a fake mustasche. They have a hand on their right arm instead of a hook, and they are wearing a paper hat. These pirates usually speak Spanish (when they talk). They have only been seen once, as an unlockable character in Rayman M. The Henchman 1000 main theme is country rock.

Zombie Henchmen
Main article: Zombie Henchman<br>

These are old pirates that have been wrecked and rusted, but still walk. Their vests are a pale, rotted yellow, and one of their feet are missing. In additino, their hook hangs limply off the arm and both eyes are black. As a result of their state, they don't move around very well, and walk in a zombie-like manner. Instead of shooting from their arm, the Zombie Henchmen breathes a green poisonous gas towards Rayman. Zombie Henchmen are very difficult to destroy, as when they appear to be dead, they get up again a few moments later. These are found in Rayman 2: Revolution.

Ninja Henchmen and Ninjaws
Main article: Ninja Pirate and Ninjaws<br>

The Ninja Pirates are very similar to the others, but have a few notable appearance traits and abilities that make them very different. Ninjaws, while identical to the others, is seemingly the elite of them, and at one point returns to Razorbeard's cabin claiming to have captured 5000 slaves. In the PlayStation version of Rayman 2, Rayman battles Ninjaws for the Second Mask. Ninja Henchmen are more or less completely black and look a little less square. Their heads appear very different. Instead of a skull, it appears as a tall cylinder topped with a red bandana and gold hook on the right arm. Ninja Henchmen have a lot of life, and have the ability to vanish and then reappear somewhere else in a cloud of dust. They either appear near Rayman and try to hook Rayman, or appear standing back more and try to shoot him. Sometimes they will teleport quickly to different places around Rayman while shooting, surrounding him with bullets. Their weakness is that their hooks are very heavy. If they miss, it gives Rayman an opportunity to attack. In Rayman 2: Revolution, two can be seen in Razorbeard's cabin. Later on, they defend the two generators that power the shield at the Pirate Factory, and once the generators are destroyed, the Ninja Henchmen are no longer seen next to Razorbeard.

Gorilla Pirate
Main article: Ape Pirate<br>

The Gorilla Pirates are so named because of their similarities to an ape or gorilla, in both appearance and behaviour. they are very bulky, and where a blue and white striped shirt. they can not be hurt by Rayman's attacks, so usually the idea is to lure them off a cliff or ledge, or to throw a plum at their head and use it as a platform.

Barrel Pirate
Main article: Barrel Pirate<br>

The Barrel Pirates consist of a large barrel with legs, a cannon on top, and a slit with eyes inside. Sometimes they are found disguising themselves, as the slit can be closed and the legs can be withdrawn. In this state, they just look like a barrel and a cannon. Their attacks differ from version to version. On the PlayStation version, they simply fire sets of three large balls of electricity. In Rayman 2: Revolution however, they fire bolts of lightning that can only be avoided by hiding behind something. In this version, they also launch cannonballs, similar to those used by the yellow henchmen, only it uses a poisonous gas instead of fire. One thing that is consistent in each version is their large amount of life.

Spyglass Pirate
Main article: Spyglass Pirate<br>

This is the pirate who carries out many of Razorbeard's orders. He is unarmed, although his arms are very similar to a typical Henchman's, except with ordinary hands. his body consists of two rough cubes, the lower one larger than the top. The lower one has the legs sticking out of it and a pair of green pants. His head is a basic cube with an opening mouth and a red bandana. Although he has no weapons, he still causes Rayman trouble. Carrying out Razorbeard's orders, he drives the Warships which pursue Rayman. He also controls Clark at one point via remote control, as well as a giant bird-like robot called the Robot Dinosaur in the same manner. Also, in Rayman Revolution, he controls a hemispherical vehicle called the Boss Biditank.

Pirate Vehicles
The Warships
Warships are flying Pirate ships that attack Rayman in the Bayou, the Canopy, and the Precipice (and the Echoing Caves in Revolution). They usually fire slow-moving homing bombs that move about like a helicopter, and can be easily destroyed by Rayman's attacks. They also fire cannonballs, but these are not usually aimed at Rayman, but instead at platforms to blow them away. They may also launch Walking Shells that run towards Rayman upon landing.

The Robot Dinosaur
The Robot Dinosaur is a giant bird-like robot controlled by Razorbeard's lackey. It is only ever named in the PlayStation version, but also appear in the others. The Grand Minimus tells Rayman that this Robotic titan was dropped on the Iron Mountains (also known as Gloomy Island) by the Pirates, to search for the fourth and final mask. It is often to be seen walking around and pecking at the ground like a chicken; it is possible that it is searching for the Fourth Mask in the soil. The Robot Dinosaur is notable for periodically jumping high, and upon landing, causing objects to bounce off the ground. Also, when Rayman is on the Walking Shell, it chases after him, and runs faster than the shell when going in a straight line, but lacks agility. The Robot Dinosaur is not destroyed, although in the PlayStation version it runs out of fuel.

The Boss Biditank
This is a tank-like vehicle that takes the shape of a hemisphere. It is driven by Razorbeard's lackey in the Pirate Factory in Rayman Revolution, and travels on wheels located on its underside. It fires the same type of propeller bombs as the Warships, as well as a machine gun-like weapon. Also, it can use an attack like that of the Barrel Pirates, at which point Rayman must hide behind something to avoid being damaged. It can only be damaged by activating a powerful gun and using it to fire at the tank.
Original version
Phase 1
Situated at the highest point of the Buccaneer, the Grolgoth is prepared, and Razorbeard gets ready for Rayman to arrive while using Globox, who is being hung upside down, as live bait. Rayman eventually arrives, and is subsequently shot by one of the Grolgoth's bombs, though both Rayman and Globox survive the shot.

The first phase of the final fight begins, with the Grolgoth shooting bombs which trip it up if Rayman shoots and knocks them back at it, and attempts to squash Rayman, as well as shooting energy from its feet. After it is knocked down three times, Razorbeard attempts to take a giant jump and crush Rayman, but he misses and causes the floor to cave in. Rayman then falls with them.

Phase 2
Far away from the Buccaneer, Ly the Fairy hears Rayman screaming for dear life, and sends a Silver Lum to his location which saves him from falling into lava. The Lum catches him and gently guides him to safety, where he finds a Flying Shell. An image of Ly then appears to tell him about how the Robo-Pirates are now defeated and encourages him to defeat Razorbeard.

Rayman then turns around to see that Razorbeard and the Grolgoth are still alive, and the second phase of the battle begins. In a room full of lava, his Grolgoth keeps itself away from the lava by holding itself up on two wooden posts and attacks by shooting heat seeking missiles as the battle goes on. Rayman attacks by finding an energy sphere in either of two tunnels, and shoots at each arm, causing the Grolgoth to fall in the lava. Eventually, Razorbeard abandons the Grolgoth and escapes, setting a five-second time bomb that explodes the entire Buccaneer with Rayman still in it.

In the area where Rayman encountered Polokus earlier in the game, everybody mourns over all they could find left of Rayman; his left shoe. But suddenly, the shoe starts glowing, and Rayman emerges from the trees nearby, holding a walking stick in his shoe's absence. The shoe bounces back to Rayman, and the Baby Globoxes run up to Rayman and hug him, happy for him to be alive, while everyone else cheers.

Unlimited ammo easter egg
There's an easter egg in Phase 2 of this level. This easter egg works on all Rayman 2 versions, except PS1.

If you hold the jump and attack buttons, and fly to the highest part in the middle of the level, you will go trough it. Now avoid the obstacles in the way and you will see a blue ball. Touch it, and you will have unlimited ammo. (Go to the External Links to see how to do it.)
PlayStation version
The main difference in this version lies in Phase 2, in this phase the Grolgoth is flying backwards trough a endless tunnel and Rayman has to shoot the Grolgoth while avoiding all obstacles. There are also little differences in the Grolgoth's attacks in Phase 1. (Go to the External Links to see how it looks.)

A subtle difference also includes the fact that part of the opening cutscene is chopped off, as the scene where Razorbeard finds out Rayman is on the ship and scoulds his Lackey occurs at the end of The Prison Ship instead

|
The PS2 Version is the same as the other versions( except PS1), but has Improved Quality and has been given extra gloss and realistic reflections.

Trivia
*Although it is set on the Buccanneer, this level is handled as a different level to The Prison Ship, possibly because the designers felt that it would be too hard if The Prison Ship led directly into this fight, and also perhaps that players would want to be able to instantly return to the last battle, rather than play all the way through an entire level just to get to it. This method of design is particularly useful in the PS1 version, as players can now return to the final fight, play it, and then unlock the bonus level after the credits if they didn't the first time easier.
*This is the only major level in Rayman 2 to include only one stage with the exception of the Woods of Light. The Walk of Power and the Walk of Life also have only one stage, but they are bonus levels.
*This is the only major level in Rayman 2 in which Ly appears but does not give Rayman a new power. This is, however, also the case in the previously mentioned bonus levels.

Green

Purple
The Purple Henchmen are an elite force of The Robo - Army.
