Edith Up is a character from Rayman Origins. She is one of Betilla's sisters and the nymph of Gourmand Land, who grants the heroes the power to use funnels to change to different sizes.

Character description
Edith Up has long, curly blonde hair, wears a red bikini top and miniskirt, and also wears the hide of a red Baby Dragon Chef on her head. Her eyes are the smallest in the family, and her skin is noticeably tanned compared to her sisters, though lighter than that of Holly Luya. She is also larger, more curvaceous and bustier than her sisters.

Appearances
Rayman Origins
In Rayman Origins, Edith Up is encountered in Gourmand Land, imprisoned in the mouth of a Darktoon like the previous nymphs. Once rescued, she gives the heroes the power to use funnels to change to different sizes.

Later on, she is then seen on the map of Gourmand Land before the players reach Mending the Rift, which is a level consisting of an Electoon bridge. If the players gather enough Electoons, she will grant them access to this level. Later on she is seen in the Luscious Lakes, before the players enter My Heartburn's for You, the boss level of this world.

When the players reach Riding the Storm, the first level of the Moody Clouds, she is seen along with the other nymphs floating in the top right corner of the portal that leads to the Moody Clouds; once El Stomacho is defeated, she is lastly seen meditating.

A PlayStation Network trophy/Xbox LIVE Gamerscore achievement, called Feed the Fairy!, is unlocked after she is rescued from the Darktoon holding her captive.
Although Edith Up does not appear in the final version of Rayman Fiesta Run, she appears in early builds of the game. Just like Betilla in Rayman Jungle Run, she is seen on the level complete screen as the Lums collected by the heroes are being counted. She also appeared in an earlier version of the shop.
Rayman Legends
While Edith Up does not appear in Rayman Legends, she is present in a piece of concept art for the game, featuring two sections that are presumably for cutscenes in the game. In the first one, she is seen in an unknown forest near a cauldron, then a blast is released out of it, revealing the duck forms of Rayman, Globox, and two Teensies. In the second storyboard-like piece of art, the duck forms of the previous heroes, albeit without one of the Teensies, are seen in a witch hut-like setting with Edith Up. She conjures a spell to turn the heroes back to normal, only for an armored glove (likely belonging to the Armored Toad) to grab her and take her away. It is unknown what happened after that, however the heroes likely would have battled the Armored Toad to free Edith Up. The duck forms would later be seen in two of the final game's levels, What the Duck? and I've Got a Filling. Had these cutscenes made it to the final game, it would have explained how the heroes turn back to normal after the Dark Teensy has turned them into ducks.

Ssssam the Watersnake is a character that appears in Rayman 2, its remakes and the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman 3.

Description
Ssssam is a purple serpent who dwells in the Marshes of Awakening, acting as a ferryman for the Glade's inhabitants. He has a disproportionately large head compared to his thin body. The body itself appears to be no longer than Rayman's height; however, he is never seen in full – only his head, part of his neck and occasionally the tip of his tail are ever actually visible, as he always partially submerged in the water of the Marshes. As a result, it is impossible to gauge just how long he might be, though he is small enough to fit inside a Robo-Pirate cage.

Ssssam speaks with heavy emphasis on sybilants, not unlike a stereotypical cartoon snake.

Ssssam is described as a ‘young and spirited serpent’ in the manuals for most versions of Rayman 2, and he appears to be very cheerful, enjoying the simple things in life. Upon being able to stretch out after being freed from his cage by Rayman, he says that it is ‘Sssssensational’. He does not have any knowledge of the Masks of Polukus, possibly due to spending most of his life in the Marshes.

In Rayman 2
In Rayman 2 and its remakes, Ssssam is first found by Rayman in the Marshes of Awakening, imprisoned in a pirate cage. Upon being freed by Rayman, Ssssam stretches and agrees to take Rayman across the Marshes, as he had seen the pirates take Globox in that direction. On the other side, Ssssam bids Rayman farewell and asks Rayman to make a point of visiting again. From this it would seem that he is very lonely, possibly having no friends within the Marshes.

This is his only appearance in most versions of the game. However, in Rayman Revolution, a bonus minigame called Waterski Challenge can be unlocked by talking to Ly the Fairy once the player has freed 30 of the game's 80 Familiar Spirits. The bonus level is another waterski chase, similar to the one in the Marshes of Awakening. Rayman must collect 20 Red Lums as Ssssam takes him through a swamp.

Originally, Michel Ancel didn't want Ssssam to be in Rayman 2 but eventually got convinced that he should make it to the final game.

In Rayman 2 Forever
In Rayman 2 Forever, the Game Boy Color version of Rayman 2, Ssssam appears with a much smaller role, appearing only at the end of the first level of the Marshes of Awakening (although he can be seen again with the rest of the cast at the end of the game). In this version, he simply lets Rayman ride across the marsh on his head, rather than waterski. He is never named in this game.

In Rayman 3
During the early development of Rayman 3, the plot was that Rayman and Globox, flying over the Bog of Murk on the Wooglah, take a crash landing after the giant bird gets wounded. Searching for help to heal the wound, Rayman finds Bégoniax, who offers him to help if he finds the beauty potion she is looking for on the other side of the marsh. Rayman goes through the mirror and finds Ssssam, then crosses the marsh and enters Razoff's mansion. Upon being defeated, the hunter starts crying, and one of his teardrops falls on a nearby Ugly, which then turns into a butterfly-like creature. It is then revealed that his tears are in fact the elixir of beauty, which Bégoniax uses on herself, allowing Razoff to fall in love with her. To thank him, the witch and the hunter promise to take care of the Wooglah, and show him the way to the Land of the Livid Dead.

Textures of Ssssam can still be found in the game files. He still makes a cameo appearance as one of Count Razoff's statues. Michael Janod, one of the game's developers, revealed in a RaymanZone interview that Razoff's mansion contains "statues of his finest catches", hinting that the hunter may have captured Ssssam at some point. The watersnake's fate is however unknown.
In the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman 3, Ssssam is first found in the Swamp of Bégoniax, this time uncaptured, where Rayman asks Ly the Fairy for directions to find Globox. ===The Menhir Hills===
Clark, like Globox and Carmen, was one of the characters-in-distress that Rayman had to help out following his adventures in the Sanctuary of Water and Ice (Whale Bay in the PlayStation version of Rayman 2).
After dashing through the dangerous Menhir Hills, Rayman arrives in a Pirate Academy. There, he discovers that all the Robo-Pirates have been destroyed, thanks to Clark. Clark, however, accidentally swallowed a rusty robot part in the heat of battle and, thanks to his sensitive stomach, became sick—possibly fatally. To save his friend, Rayman must travel to the Cave of Bad Dreams to find a cure. Though before the guardian of the Cave of Bad Dreams did not allow Rayman entry, Clark gives Rayman the knowledge he needs to enter.
The Menhir Hills revisit
Following Rayman's triumph over the cave guardian, Rayman returns through the trials of the Menhir Hills and gives Clark the Elixir of Life. Grateful and full of rejuvenated energy, Clark agrees to be Rayman's bodyguard for the duration of the level. Clark uses his special ability—crashing through wooden walls—to allow Rayman to pass through the academy and into the next level.

Tomb of the Ancients
Clark was somehow captured following the events of the Menhir Hills, and in the end was brought to a secret laboratory deep within the Tomb of the Ancients. By the time Rayman finds his powerful friend, it is too late; Clark has been brainwashed by the Spyglass Pirate and is being controlled via remote control. This leads to an unexpected boss battle against Clark.

To defeat Clark, Rayman has to press three switches to turn on a laser beam, and then trip the giant on it. Once the giant was tripped, Rayman could attack the remote-control pack on Clark's back. After a while of doing this, the pack was destroyed and Clark was saved once and for all. After doing a dance with Rayman, Clark assists Rayman in reaching the warp spot that takes him to the next level.

After the Tomb
Clark's final appearance in all the versions of Rayman 2 is after the fight with Razorbeard. Clark is waiting with other good characters for Rayman's return.

Minor roles in Rayman Revolution
Clark's primary role in Rayman Revolution, other than his level appearances, is opening up Globox's House, Rainbow Creek, and the Iron Mountains. He is visited after every sanctuary level, although the visit after Beneath the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava incorporates his rescue from Tomb of the Ancients.

The East Plain
In Rayman Revolution, Clark's first appearance is either outside or at the East Plain in the Minisaurus Plains. If Rayman has not completed the Sanctuary of Water and Ice and heads along the path towards the East Plain, a gang of Robo-Pirates will ambush him. Though it will look like he is defeated, Rayman is happy to see Clark ambushing the pirates. Clark chases the Robo-Pirates into the East Plain, yelling threats. If Rayman never trots in this direction before his destination becomes the Menhir Hills, this scene will not happen.

Clark's next appearance is following the Sanctuary of Water and Ice. The Teensie at the Minisaurus Plains' Teensie Circle will tell Rayman that Clark is waiting in the East Plain. If Rayman enters the Plain and ascends the cliff-side bridge, he will eventually find Clark. Clark uses his wall-breaking ability to pave entry to the Globox's House area of the Front. Clark does not re-appear until the Menhir Hills level.

The capture of Clark
Clark plays the same role after Rayman has completed the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire. The Teensie of Globox's House tells Rayman that Clark is waiting for him by the Whale Bay. If Rayman passes the Whale Bay and follows the nearby beach, he will encounter Clark waiting by a bridge. Clark will crash through a wooden wall, and he and Rayman pass through it.

Clark then passes through another wooden wall at the far end of a mountainous arena. However, before Rayman can follow, Robo-Pirates flood out of the hole, presumably capturing Clark in the process and taking him to the Tomb of the Ancients. Rayman must battle wave after wave of Robo-Pirates arcade-style; however, once the road to the Rainbow Creek is clear Clark is nowhere to be found.

Later, following the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava, the Teensie of the Rainbow Creek tells Rayman that Clark's location has been found. Rayman must return to Skull Cave to locate the Tomb of the Ancients.

The Iron Mountains
Clark's final act follows the Tomb of the Ancients. Rayman must meet Clark by a wooden wall near the Rainbow Creek's Teensie Circle. Clark smashes the wall, allowing Rayman access to the Iron Mountains.

Subsequent appearances
In Revolution, Clark makes a final in-game appearance after Rayman has completed the Prison Ship. He joins Rayman's other friends in waiting for him by the Flying shell taking Rayman to the Crow's Nest.

Clark next appears during Revolutions final credits, in which he plays the bass guitar in a band with Rayman's other friends.

In the cancelled Game Boy Advance version of Rayman 2
Back when the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman 3 was still an adaptation of Rayman 2, Clark was meant to appear as a boss. He was however replaced by Scaleman, the boss of Scaleman's Keep, as the game became an adaptation of Rayman 3 instead.

In Rayman 3
In the book L'Histoire de Rayman, its been revealed that Clark was planned to appear in Rayman 3 but was cut for unknown reasons. Textures of Clark have been found in the game's files.

In Rayman 3
Ssssam was origionally planned to appear in Rayman 3, textures can still be found in the game files. Ssssam still makes a cameo appearance as one of Count Razoff's statues.
He then allows Rayman to waterski through the swamps in a similar fashion to Rayman 2.

In Rayman 3
Ssssam was origionally planned to appear in Rayman 3, textures can still be found in the game files. Ssssam still makes a cameo appearance as one of Count Razoff's statues.
He then allows Rayman to waterski through the swamps in a similar fashion to Rayman 2.

His French name would most likely have been changed before the game's release.

Bontons, also known as Flabars, are creatures which resemble kangaroos or goats. They have brown or blue fur (blue in the Xowar secret). Some have horns. The Teensie tribe known as the Sylkins tend the Bontons for their wool and milk, and some Sylkins are seen shepherding them in the Rayman 3 intro sequence.

Hoodlums
The Bontons are harvested by the Black Lums, who use their wool to weave Hoodlum outfits for themselves. At one point in Rayman 3, the Black Lums are seen attacking a Bonton like a swarm of locusts in order to steal its fur. However, the instruction manual has stated that the Black Lums just use animal fur in general. The Snorty was also dressed in animal hide, which could have been Flabar fur.

Appearances
An in-game model for the Bonton was created, but when the creature was cut from Rayman 3, the developers decided to hide a blue, horned Bonton in a secret room so that their work would not entirely go to waste. The room also contains other unused models, such as the Xowar and a Glute.

The Flabar was initially intended to play a much larger role in Rayman 3, but in the end it was used only to supply the Hoodlums with raw material to make their clothing. In the final version of Rayman 3, Bontons appear in the intro video, the Xowar secret, Wanna Kick Rayman? – Lesson 069, Wanna Kick Rayman? – Lesson 273, Wanna Kick Rayman? – Lesson 502, and Wanna Kick Rayman? – Lesson 312.

Scaleman was originally intended to appear in Rayman 3, as a Hoodlum boss called the Kagalpha. His French name would most likely have been changed by the game's release, possibly to 'Scaleman', or some different name beginning with 'Hood'. The Kagalpha was cut out from the final version of the game but he remains largely intact in the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman 3 as the Scaleman.
Squabs, also known as Slobberpillars, are a variety of fat, green caterpillars which are encountered in several games of the Rayman series.

Squabs are first encountered in Rayman 3, at the beginning of the Fairy Council, the very first level of the game. They serve as a trampoline; Rayman can jump on them and bounce upwards to reach a ledge. Another Squab is seen in the game's final cutscene; it breaks Rayman and Globox's fall when they land on it after falling from the Tower of the Leptys when they defeat Reflux. Squabs are seen being used by Hoodlums as Rayman dummies in two Wanna Kick Rayman? videos (#007 and #134 specifically).

In the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman Raving Rabbids, the Squab is an enemy encountered in the Forest world. Here they can be defeated with two punches from Rayman's telescopic fist.

It is unknown if the Squabs have any connection to the different species of butterfly encountered throughout the series, like the Popolopoïs and the Tribelles.
Uglies, also known as Funk Flies, are a species of creatures that can be found in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. They have an insectile appearance, with a small pair of wings and a pair of antennae.

Uglies are first encountered in the fifth phase of the Bog of Murk. Pairs of Uglies are seen chained-up in various places throughout Count Razoff's Mansion, presumably captured and imprisoned there by Razoff. If Rayman breaks their chains with his telescopic fist, the freed Uglies bow to him and each releases one Red Lum before flying away.

The Uglies are seen again during the cinematic following Rayman's battle with Count Razoff in the latter's dungeon. They save Rayman and Globox from Razoff, who intended to kill the two heroes. Razoff seems to be afraid of them; he flees when he is confronted by a gang of ten Uglies (who were most likely the ones freed by Rayman during the previous battle).

The original habitat of the Uglies is unknown, as they do not reappear during this game or any other. It is not known if they left Razoff's mansion after being freed by Rayman or continued to live there.

During the early development of Rayman 3, Razoff's tears happened to be an elixir of beauty. In the final cutscene of the Bog of Murk, one of those teardrops would fall on a nearby Ugly, which would then turn into a butterfly-like creature.

The wooglah, sometimes spelled woogla is a creature that would have appeared in Rayman 3.

Appearance
The wooglah is a gigantic bird with blue and orange plumage. His beak looks like Rayman's nose.

In Rayman 3
In one of the first iterations of the game's story, still visible in the script of the beta, Rayman and Globox use the wooglah to go from Clearleaf Forest to the Land of the Livid Dead. But when they fly over the Bog of Murk, the wooglah is injured (for unspecified reasons), forcing them to land. Globox decides to stay with the wooglah while Rayman seeks the antidote to treat him. Murfy comes to meet Rayman and advises him to go ask Bégoniax to help him. Bégoniax has seen the wooglah being injured thanks to her magic mirror. She agrees to cure the wooglah, provided Rayman brings her a beauty elixir that is hidden in the swamps.

Later, Rayman arrives in Count Razoff's mansion. After the fight, the beauty elixir turns out to be in Razoff's tears. Looking in her mirror, Bégoniax sees an Ugly transforming into a butterfly after touching the tears, and immediately teleports there to have it herself. Razoff immediately falls in love with the transformed Bégoniax. The witch and the hunter promise to take care of the wooglah, and then indicate a path to Rayman and Globox to go into the Land of Livid Dead.

When the story of the game was completely revamped, the wooglah was removed for unknown reasons. However, the textures are still present in the game files of the Mac version of Rayman 3.
Glutes are creatures from Rayman 3.

Description
Glutes are part of the Glade of Dreams fauna.

They look like tiny blue birds, with a long yellow beak, a long neck, two legs with webbed feets and a tail. Devoid of wings, they move around by jumping. Despite their size and thinness, Glutes can swallow anything, like animals, vegetables, stones and even metal. They seek for their food around towns and villages. Some Teensies breed Glutes to use them as garbage chute, taking advantage of their limitless appetite.

In Rayman 3
An in-game model for the Glute was created, but the creature was cut from the final game, for unknown reasons. But the developers decided to hide a Glute in a secret room of the Tower of the Leptys, so that their work would not entirely go to waste. The room also contains other unused models, such as the Xowar and a blue Bonton.

In Freeze mode, it is said that the sound of a gong being hit is akin to the scream of a frightened baby Glute. As the Knaaren that dwell in the tunnels of their desert cannot resist its call, they will immediately go over to investigate the sound it produces.

Globox often mentions the Glutes in the game. It seems that he doesn't like them, since he uses their name to form a swear word, "Gaseous Glute!". He pronounces it in most of the levels, but also when Rayman hits him and when he is drunk. In Hoodlum Headquarters, when Globox is hanging to a grapple, all his blood is rushing to his head, and he becomes more intelligent as a result. Then, he belittles the Glutes again, by saying that he is composed of 816 polygons and that the garden variety glute only contains 318 polygons. However, when Globox hides in a corner to escape an Hoodlum attack, he is so scared that he regrets his insults: "I swear I'll never criticize glutes again! I swear!"

Glutes are also mentioned in a remark of a Grand Minimus in the second part of the Desert of the Knaaren: "I gotta go shave my glutes."

The name of the Glutes is also used to make jokes on superheroes names: When Globox is drunk and fly into the air, he said: "Ha ha ha ha! Even Spider-Glute can't do this!". In Hoodlum Headquarters warehouse, the hostess said in the speakers: "Would the Incredible Glute please report to the welcome desk?"

GluteConceptArt.png|Concept art from the Rayman 3 Art Book
</gallery>

Trivia
*In Rayman Origins, the Bubble Dreamer claims that Globox is (or has) the “biggest glute in the Glade”. This has led to the common misconception that “glute” is the name of Globox's species, despite the creatures from Rayman 3 already having this name. In reality, however, it is more likely that the Bubble Dreamer is literally referring to his glutes, which are a group of muscles that make up the buttocks (meaning that he would essentially be claiming that Globox has the biggest butt in the Glade).
