The Story Of My Rayman History
I used to play Rayman 1 on PS1 as a kid a lot and I always loved it. I used to play it for countless hours and have so many great memories of playing it. For some reason I never played a sequel for a very long time with the only other game I played being Rayman Golf on a mobile phone years ago. After going so many years without playing Rayman, I finally started playing Rayman Origins in December 2017. I loved the game so much that I decided to try Rayman Legends next and completed that too. After that I played Rayman 3 and then finally moved onto Rayman 2. I find Rayman 2 amazing for so many reasons and I even love the story it has, but Rayman Origins is also special to me since it's the main reason I got back into Rayman and joined Rayman Pirate-Community.

Rayman Pirate-Community
I joined Rayman Pirate-Community on February 25th 2018, where I was unexpectedly greeted by a fellow Irishman (small world). At the time, I didn't really know too much about the Rayman series, and what lead me here many times before joining was looking up info for Rayman Origins.

I used to play the original game a lot as a kid, but I could only remember so much about it. I had to ask other users for help a lot regarding the sequels, as I was only playing them for the first time, and then RayWiki proved very useful to me, so I've managed to learn a lot about the series within just over a year. I've always found the members and staff friendly, I've had a lot of fun posting with other members, while also getting to know them. Aside from how much I like the Rayman series, the friendly atmosphere I encountered here as a first impression made me want to stick by and visit frequently, so I remained active.

On August 6th 2019, I was promoted to an English Moderator on Rayman Pirate-Community. I then started contributing to RayWiki a lot more often.

About Me
I'm basically a technician, I love building PC's and repairing/modding consoles, I have more consoles modified then stock. I basically just fix anything if I put my mind to it. I love playing retro games too so I basically have all the consoles I could possibly want and then some. I'm generally nice to people and always offer advice to them if they need help, but I hate cheaters and liars so much that it brings out the bad side of me when I see them.

I've always liked Super Mario games even back before Rayman existed since I was only 3, but when I did get around to it, I realised Rayman is amazing.

My first console was a NES/Famicom clone with 168-in-1. My first genuine console was a Sega Mega Drive II, I used to have a 6 in 1 cart with Streets Of Rage, Golden Axe, Columns, Super Hang-On, World Cup Italia 90 and The Revenge Of Shinobi. I also had a copy of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 for it and a Batman game (I can't recall which one exactly at the minute). After that I got a PS1 where I used to have Hercules, Gran Turismo, Crash Bandicoot Warped and of course, Rayman 1. Those were the ones I had when I was only kid and by the time I got a PS2 I was almost a teenager (I think I was 11).

The PS2 is one of my favourite consoles of all time, because while not being the most powerful one, it had a massive game library with some really amazing titles out there. I prefer the original Xbox over it for some games as it's much more powerful, but the PS2 is the one I had for a long time even before getting the Xbox. I just have so many memories of bringing it to my Nanny's and playing GTA: San Andreas with my uncle, while staying up half the night. 😂

There was also the Eyetoy games which I had a lot of fun with over the years, ah memories.

I like to have a few drinks from time to time and just relax.

Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party (DS) is the Nintendo DS version of Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party, the third instalment of the Rayman Raving Rabbids series. In the same vein as Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 for the handheld, the game centres around minigames almost entirely.

Plot
In the same vein as its console counterpart, the Rabbids have invaded the TV, and Rayman has to kick them out before it drives him insane. Rayman travels through the TV network, removing Rabbids as he goes.

Gameplay
Adventure mode
In Adventure mode, Rayman has to take turns against a Rabbid to hop around on a board game style screen and reduce the number of Rabbids in the TV set every time he reaches a square with a TV icon before this Rabbid does - it moves it to another place on the board if it does. When Rayman uses his spaces up (he earns up to four depending on how well the player plays a minigame), the Rabbid takes his turn and moves two squares, before Rayman has to play a minigame. He removes 10 Rabbids everytime he touches the TV. There are also green squares with question marks on which plays a random positive or negative effect on Rayman's progress. The following can happen when he does:

* Three Rabbids could be booted from the TV
* Three Rabbids could be added to the TV
* Rayman could get an extra move
* The Rabbid could get an extra move
* Rayman could get an extra turn
* The Rabbid could get an extra turn
* Rayman could be teleported directly to the TV's current position

The Rabbid cannot use these green squares.

At first, only one channel of minigames is available, but unlike its predecessor, the game picks a minigame at random. At least one square is obtained whether or not the minigame is completed successfully, though a maximum of four can be obtained. Six channels in total become available as the game progresses, and each of them has seven minigames. This carries on until all of the Rabbids are booted out of the TV for each round. There are five rounds in total.

Catch the Bunny!
Once there are no Rabbids left in the TV, Rayman has to play a game of "Catch the Rabbid". The game switches to a 2D side scrolling minigame in which Rayman is running automatically, and can jump over things such as trash cans using the DS stylus. When he gets close to the Rabbid, it uses one of four chillies to boost, and it can only be caught then after it has eaten all of the chillies.

Rabbid mode
In this mode the player can draw on or add items won in the games to a particular Rabbid, akin to Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 on the DS.

Score mode
In Score mode, the player can choose a channel and then choose whichever minigame he/she likes.

Multi mode
...
<br clear=all>

Minigames
Rayman (Nintendo DSi) is a port of the original Rayman game which was released as a DSi-Ware title. As with Rayman Advance, it resembles the PC version most closely.

Differences from Rayman 1
Compared to the PC version of the original game, this port has been modified to be a lot easier in several ways. Rayman now starts off with 6 units of health (which is double the starting amount of health in the original) which can be extended to 10 with a Big Power. Lives can be obtained more frequently and only 50 tings is required now instead of 100 for a new life. The number of Continues has now been increased to 30 and the Photographer appears in several new locations. To make backtracking easier, the player can now skip to the next part of the player by pressing the select button. This only works in levels which have already been completed.

A noticeable issue is that whenever Rayman takes damage, he is now pushed back a lot further. While this can in some cases make it easier to quickly get away from the the enemy or object which inflicted the damage, it can also cause the player to quickly loose control over Rayman if he keeps getting pushed back and forth. This is most notably an issue in Allegro Presto. And Rayman's buffer time is shorter which makes Rayman lose more health and makes the game seem harder.

Other differences includes a few missing soundtracks and a lot of the sound effects, including Rayman's voice, being deeper in tone. Some of the textures have been updated, most notably in Band Land where the musical staves are now black instead of white. Some levels have receieved minor updates, such as Eat at Joe's having added dialogue where Joe talks to Rayman before giving him the firefly. The ending has also been expanded compared to other versions. Another noteworthy difference is the option to have four letters in each save slot name instead of the usual three. The names can now also be changed manually from the pause menu, instead of having the player first copying and then renaming it. Another difference is that Rayman now retains the grimace power upon obtaining the running power, unlike other versions where it simply gets replaced. Both powers are still mapped to the same button, so the only way to perform the grimace is by doing so when not moving.

New to the game is a menu titled 'Anti Dark-Matters' which acts like a checklist to keep track of the player's progress on the game. As well as having check boxes for having beaten a world and having freed all the Electoons, the player is also rewarded for having completed a world, and ultimately the game, without the use of any Continues. For each missions the player is awarded with a few lives.

Taking advantage of the DSi's camera, the Photographer now takes a picture of the player at every checkpoint, which is used to represent the saved game in the menu. The second screen is used to display a map of Rayman's immediate surroundings, which highlights where each checkpoint and exit sign is. The player can use the stylus to scroll through the entire level on the map.

The names can now also be changed manually from the pause menu, instead of having the player first copying and then renaming it and another difference is Rayman can do the grimace after he has got the running power to do it with the running power you have to hold the R button for a few seconds.

Rayman Raving Rabbids (DS) is the Nintendo DS version of Rayman Raving Rabbids. Unlike both the console versions and the Game Boy Advance version, this game uses 3D graphics but plays as a sidescroller. The game uses the Rayman 2: The Great Escape engine, and several elements are holdovers from the DS version of Rayman 2, including the menu fonts, Rayman's model, sound, and animations.

Plot
Similar to the console version, Rayman is relaxing in the forest as usual, until the Rabbids, which are invading the planet, capture him and take him away to face many challenges awaiting him in the Colosseum, where he has to collect 100 trophies to open up the doors that lead him to the Rabbid Droid.

Gameplay
Each level is entered at least once when they are available, and at first the player plays a traditional platforming map. Unlike many of the other games in the series, the game instructs the player to follow certain numbered paths for each challenge, some of which cannot be accessed without certain abilities. There are seven abilities in total, four of which combine elements with a few of the costumes used in the console game, and they are hidden away in presents. Once a level is complete, the player then has to pass a minigame using the DS stylus.

This is then followed by a level in which Rayman is running automatically, and the player has to guide him through various obstacles using a combination of the stylus and the costume powers. Along the way there is a certain number of trophies to find and pick up, often the player sees signs directing to which way the trophies are situated in.

Familiar Rayman 2 elements are present in the game, such as Yellow Lums and Purple Lums. Unlike previous titles though, Yellow Lums are used to be thrown at enemies for a stronger shot than the ordinary fist, and can be topped up by plentiful supplies such as bags and crates full of them. They are also used to pay for health that is accessed through a stone with red, heart shaped Lums hovering over.

Costumes
Like the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman Raving Rabbids, the costumes featured in this version have a different purpose each and are used to get past obstacles that would prevent Rayman from finishing a level. However, their powers completely differ from that in the GBA version, and are represented by a certain colour and element. They are put to use when Rayman stands on a stone (akin to a Stone of Thought) with a symbol that represents a costume that would be most useful for the situation.

In the challenges, they are switched around when the player presses a button that is assigned to a certain costume.

* Granny (Earth): Creates a giant boulder that can be pushed and then jumped on to reach higher places. Enemies can be squashed while it is being pushed. In the challenge stages, it is used to break, press and drag boxes that are marked with a green X or O.
* Punk (Fire): Generates bombs that Rayman can carry and throw at either enemies or at red doors that only bombs can destroy. In the challenge stages, it is used to burn away chains that hold wooden planks up or down, as well as destroying all enemies including a red demon that only fire can destroy.
* Disco (Wind): Makes clouds visible enough to walk on. It is used in the challenge stages to turn fans that move wooden planks up, down or forward.
* Elvis (Ice): Equips Rayman with three blocks of ice that are used to freeze flaming walls, weak bridges and enemies. In the challenge stages, it freezes sandpits, geysers and waterfalls for Rayman to walk on.

Minigames
Between a level and a challenge stage, the player has to pass a minigame, many of which are based on the minigames from the console version of the game. These can be unlocked and played as the player finishes the challenge stages as a reward.

Rayman Gear
At a later point in the game, Rayman has to collect three contraptions that build up Rayman Gear, a flying robot that fires rockets and grabs things with a plunger attached to a chain. This is used mostly to attach to Clark the Superbunny to fly faster, or to reel in the Giant Robot Fish and reveal its weak points, which are fired with rockets. Rayman Gear is also useful when battling the Rabbid Droid.
In 1995, when I was five, I got the PS1 version of Rayman and I wondered what it was. I went to play it, and I was laughing at the game’s characters!

I watched the intro, and it made me laugh! So, I decided to play the game.

Well, when I played it, I kept pressing the action button because it had a funny face!

So, then, when I got the punch power, I was playing the game like crazy, but I was wondering why I kept dying! I thought my playing skills were to bad.

Later, I went on the next level and I was very excited about this game. After I completed Pink Plant Woods, there was the Magician’s hat on the world map. I went to it, and it said “Are you sure you want to erase the previously saved game?”

I got scared, so I selected “No”. Then, I had a break from the game, but I could not quit the world map, so I just powered off the console.

When I started it back up, for some reason the game didn’t save, and it started right from the beginning! I was not happy.

I started playing the game again, and got up to Twilight Gulch, but I could not complete it because it became very difficult, so I gave up.

And again, like before, the save point asked me if I want to erase the game, and I chose “No” because I didn't want to erase the save file!

Later I went on the next level and I was very excited About this game. After I completed pink plant woods there was the magican hat on the level icon and I went to it and it said Are you sure you want to erase the previously saved game? And then I got scared when it said that so I pressed no so then, I had a break from the game except I could not quit the world map so instead I turned it off. When I went back on the game for some reason the game didn't save And it restarted me right to the beginning! I was NOT happy. so instead I just went through the game and got up to Twilight gulch except I could not complete it. because of those Stupid Stone Men! So I gave up. Large-mouthed fish also known as sharks, are fish with oversized mouth and teeth that appear in the original game and the Game Boy Advance adaptation of Rayman Raving Rabbids.

Rayman
They appear in the Caves of Skops, in the last phase of Eat at Joe's. Large-mouthed fish represent the main danger in this level. They swim back and forth and try to bite Rayman when he is in sight. It is recommended to duck, but it is however possible, with perfect timing, to punch them when they jump. They somewhat resemble the piranhas from the earlier levels of the game.
Rayman Raving Rabbids (Game Boy Advance)
They also appear in the Forest world from the Game Boy Advance adaptation of Rayman Raving Rabbids, in which they are not seen swimming but only leap out of the water at a fixed position, continuously until they are punched. Flower tentacles are enemies located in the Dream Forest.

They are resistant enemies who freely wander on their platform, turning backwards whenever they reach an obstacle. Contact with them hurts Rayman, and he must also avoid the Livingstones that they keep spitting.

Only one Flower Tentacle is encountered in the original game, in Moskito's Nest; however, more of them can be found in Rayman Designer.

In the games
When punched, a Flower Tentacle normally spits out a Livingstone or small Livingstone and continues to move. However, when a Flower Tentacle is punched in the mouth, it spits out Livingstones, loses some health and falls to the ground, stunned for a few seconds before rising up again. The more damage a Flower Tentacle takes, the more Livingstones it spits out at once. After being punched in the mouth six times, it is defeated. There is a way to defeat it without hitting it in the mouth but it takes ages to kill it.
In the PC, Game Boy Advance versions DSi and Rayman classic ports of the game, Moskito's Nest features what seem to be enormous old tree-trunks in one level. They look curiously similar to Flower Tentacles. The level containing the boss fight itself also takes place upon a curious plant which evokes the Flower Tentacle.
In 1995, when I was five, I got the PS1 version of Rayman and I wondered what it was. I went to play it, and I was laughing at the games characters! So I watched the intro and I was laughing as well and I just decided to play it. Well when I played it I kept pressing the action button because it had a funny face! So then when I got the punch power I was playing the game very crazy but I was wondering why I kept dieing I thought it was just my playing skills. And again like before those save points still say that and I pressed no because I didn't want to erase my game you stupid game!
Dark Rayman, also known as Anti Rayman, Bad Rayman and evil Rayman , is an enemy which appear in the original Rayman game, its Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance ports and in Rayman Junior.

Description
Dark Rayman is a clone of Rayman, magically created by Mr Dark in an attempt to destroy the original.

His appearance is very similar to that of Rayman, but with different colouration. He seems to have somehow inherited Mr Dark's glowing yellow eyes. In Rayman, Dark Rayman's skin is grey, his hair and neckerchief are pink, his gloves are light blue, and his shirt and shoes are dark blue. He also has a green tongue, which can be noticed by having him make a grimace in Rayman Designer or Rayman Junior or Rayman 1 DSi.

Role in the games
Rayman
He first appears at a very late point in all versions of Rayman except for the Atari Jaguar version, when the real Rayman finally reaches the second part of Mr Dark's Dare in Candy Château, and has a spell cast upon him by Mr Dark. The evil double appears behind him, and follows him wherever he goes as well as copying his actions. Rayman cannot stand still for too long at this point, because he and the double will die instantly if they come to close contact with each other. However, Dark Rayman will die as soon as the real Rayman reaches the exit in the area.

In Rayman Advance and Rayman DSi, Dark Rayman's name is shown, which has fuelled numerous debates on his real name, as some people call him Bad Rayman.

Rayman Junior
In the Rayman Junior, Dark Rayman appears in the penultimate level, Tasty chase. Betilla refers to him as Rayman's Wicked Double. However, he does not chase Rayman during the whole level, but only makes short appearances and disappears after a certain distance.

Rayman (Game Boy Color)
Dark Rayman also makes appearances in the Game Boy Color version of the game, in which he appears in a slightly different colour scheme; his shoes and gloves are yellow, and his skin is darker than Rayman's. He is found towards the end of the game, in the Arcane Forest. Dark Rayman behaves in the same way as he did in the original game - chasing, copying, and causing death upon touch. But he doesn't die if he manages to kill Rayman, apart if the hero falls into a chasm.

When Rayman reaches the exit in the area, Dark Rayman doesn't disappear, like in the original game. And as he is never seen again in the game, his fate remains unknown.

It is possible to kill Dark Rayman in this game, by flying above a specific floor of red spikes.

Dark Rayman"', also known as Anti Rayman, Bad Rayman and evil Rayman , is an enemy which appear in the original Rayman game, its Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance ports and in Rayman Junior.

In Rayman Advance, Dark Rayman's name is shown, which has fuelled numerous debates on his real name, and the nature of the relationship between him and the playable character in Rayman Arena.
However, he does not chase Rayman during the whole level, but only makes short appearances and disappears after a certain distance.
