When the shit was Murfy in Rayman Arena? Everytime you people say stuff like that it makes me wanna get a region cracker disc for my Gamecube and import the game. --StaceyW 17:19, 12 June 2008 (CEST)

*I have the PC version and I know that version along with the PlayStation 2 version is basically North American Rayman M. The Xbox version (which I own as well) and the GameCube version underwent some minor changes. Not going into great detail, though one of these was added cinematics before each cup (also new) featuring Murfy acting as kind of a pre-game announcer/paparazzi getting into the rooms where characters would ready themselves and describing the cup to be played. (At the end of each one he would be beat up or something like that by guys in the room as the camera would switch to a view of the door outside the room.) He was just there as minor entertainment, though he was there. Foultzboyz 05:29, 14 June 2008 (CEST)
How do I unlock Music Mode in Rayman M? I pause the game during a race and the menu will display an option in orange called Music Mode which I cannot select.
: I don't think anyone knows, it was never mentioned in the manual so I'm guessing it might have been accidentally disabled in the final game. I may look into it. -- StaceyW ♬ 13:04, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
My (PC, Polish) version of RM features 2 multiplayer modes: Race and... something else. Anybody care enough to find the English name of the thing?
Playable in Windows?! I thought it was exclusive to the Jaguar version! This needs to be tested by myself. Spiral, did you took the pictures in the PC/MS-DOS version? --Haruka 14:21, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
:It's definitely playable in Windows, though I haven't had a chance to try it in that version myself. Ask Plum about it if you want – I got the details by reading some of his old posts. And no, I took those nine screenshots from the Jaguar version (I was using the Project Tempest emulator – I took the screenshots with external software, since it can't take them itself like ePSXe and PJ64). —Spiraldoor 15:00, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Images
I've re-taken the nine screenshots and saved them in PNG format this time, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to go about resizing them. Jaguar screenshots are 648×487 pixels, which makes it impossible to resize them at exactly 50% (Gimp keeps switching to 50.1% whenever I try). Are Jaguar screenshots meant to be resized to 316 or 318 or what? —Spiraldoor 17:58, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
: As we can see in the file EP_puzzle.png, the size of the resized version is 320 × 224, therefore the original size should be 640 × 448. After a quick analysis of the screenshots you posted, it would seem that without the presence of the lower black horizontal stripe, they would be 1,0125× larger than the theoretical size. I suspect the screen of the emulator you're using to be slightly larger than its default size, which could easily be reverted in the settings. If not, could you please upload one of those original size PNG screenshots to an external image hoster and post the link here so that I can examine it more carefully? Thanks in advance ;) —Hunchman801 00:02, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
:: Here is a screenshot of exactly what Project Tempest was doing when I took the images. It always displays black bars at both the top and bottom of the screen, and I haven't found a way to remove them (the size of the window can't be changed as far as I'm aware). Because of this I assumed that what the emulator was displaying was, more or less, what the Jaguar would have displayed. It adds a framerate indicator in the top-left corner, but I edited this out in the images I uploaded (there's meant to be nothing but black there, so the edited images were exactly as they would have been if the framerate notification had never been there). I'm not sure if either of the black bars are actually supposed to be there, or if one or both of them were added (or just expanded) by the emulator. —Spiraldoor 15:18, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
::: Well clearly, the whole thing is fucked, as we can obviously see that the image doesn't have neat sprites. 648×455 appears to be the actual original size on Project Tempest (just launched it to check), which is clearly weird, but at least when I play it I am getting neat sprites. I fail to understand what is going on, we should definitely ask Stacey how she got her screenshots. —Hunchman801 23:33, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
: I think I did use PT to take the ones I did; cropped off the borders and resized it in Photoshop using the "nearest neighbour" setting which is often used to preserve hard edges. I just had to be careful not to be one pixel off when I crop them. -- StaceyW ♬ 16:38, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
:: Let alone the fact that Spiral seems to get blurry pictures, I fail to understand how you got a 320×224 picture for EP puzzle.png, while the size of the original screen seems to be 648×455 for both Spiral and I. Had you resized it to 50%, you would have ended up with something about 324×228. I just took a screenshot of Bongo Hills and there is no black border on top which might explain the difference in height. Resizing it to 50% following the guidelines gave me a perfectly neat 324×228 file. Could you please check what resolution you're now getting in PT and provide a snapshot of it Stace? Thank you! —Hunchman801 13:34, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
When Rayman arrived in Candy Chateau in Rayman 1, Mr. Dark created a Bad Rayman. Bad Rayman copied whatever Rayman did and if he caught up with him, he would kill him by touching him. Eventually, Rayman reached the end of the level and Bad Rayman died.

He returned in Amazing Learning Games With Rayman/Rayman Junior and Rayman Gold/Rayman Forever with the same role. This is possibly because he is just a shadow and therefore cannot die.

His most recent appearance was in Rayman Arena for the Xbox and GameCube. Along with a difference in appearance, there is also a difference in behavior. In these versions of the game, he will no longer mimic characters' actions nor cause death to the touch and instead acts individually and is no longer immortal. He is the only opponent found in the game's highest level of single-player: Master Mode.

Description
In the first part of this level, Rayman meets his jungle counterpart, Tarayzan, who is hiding behind a bush with his loincloth hanging over him. When Rayman knocks it down, Tarayzan gives him the Magic Seed, which temporarily replaces Rayman's grimace, and the level starts to flood. He must then use the seed to plant huge flowers which will help him reach higher platforms in order to escape from drowning in the flood.

The Dinosaur is an invincible enemy from Rayman 2: The Great Escape and its remakes, Rayman 2: Revolution and Rayman DS. It goes un-named in all versions but the PS version.

Description
The Dinosaur is a giant, remote-controlled robot with a head resembling that of a Teensie's, along with two raptor-like legs. It tends to hop a lot like a kangaroo.

The Dinosaur was used by Admiral Razorbeard's Lackey to patrol the Reformatory for Disturbing Children in the Iron Mountains. If anything escaped, it would persistently chase down the escaper.

Role in the Games
The Dinosaur doesn't appear until the grand finale of the Iron Mountains. It is dangerous for Rayman to approach, but otherwise helpful: its jumping makes a crate bounce just high enough for Rayman to enter the Reformatory. Similarly, a crate bounces inside the Reformatory; this allows Rayman to reach the Reformatory's roof.

However, once Rayman reaches the roof the Dinosaur's role is another story completely. After Rayman releases Globox's children from the Reformatory, the Dinosaur is quick to react. Rayman must speedily zip by the incoming Dinosaur or risk being flattened. However, it is still useful for player, cause it can crush big stones with yellow lums inside.

The exception to the rule is the PS version of Rayman 2, in which Razorbeard's lackey accidentally breaks the remote control, rendering the Dinosaur useless.

Rayman (otherwise known as Rayman 1) is the first video game of the Rayman series, first released in 1995 on the Atari Jaguar, Sony Playstation, Sega Saturn, and on MS-DOS. A port for the Gameboy Color was released in 2000, followed by a port for the Gameboy Advance that was later released in 2001, in which it was renamed to Rayman Advance.

Gameplay
Rayman is a 2D side-scrolling platform game, unlike its successors. The game is made up of six different worlds, half of which are natural (The Dream Forest, Blue Mountain and the Cave of Skops), while the other half is 'imaginary' (Band Land, Picture City and the Candy Château). Each of these worlds excluding Candy Chateau contains four or three levels, each with six cages with Electoons to find. The game's difficulty is progressive, meaning that it gets harder as the player continues.

The game displays consist of how many lives Rayman has, five units of energy (six in Rayman Advance), and how many Tings he has collected. Rayman normally starts with four lives and three health units, and can collect up to 99 lives. When he takes damage, he loses one unit, and when he loses all of them, he loses a life, his temporary fist powers, and all of the Tings he had collected. Upon Game Over, he has up to nine continues depending on version, which are represented with alarm clocks.

List of Powers and power-ups
At the start of the game, Rayman is only able to pull a grimace, which is used to scare certain enemies. As he continues, he would receive permanent powers from Betilla the Fairy that gradually widen his abilities, as well as receive a few temporary ones.

Permanent
* Grimace: Rayman's only ability at the game's beginning, only useful for getting rid of tall Livingstones which are scared of this.
* Telescopic Fist: The first power you gain from Betilla the Fairy, which allows Rayman to punch enemies to defeat them. This can be temporarily powered up by Speed Fists and Gold Fists.
* Hanging: Allows Rayman to hang onto ledges.
* Grappling: When acquired, Rayman can use his fist to grapple onto flying rings which are scattered around the place, allowing him to reach high places and cross wide gaps.
* Helicopter: When acquired, Rayman can use his odd looking hair as a helicopter which only allows him to glide, and prolong his jumps.
* Running: Rayman's last permanent power, which allows him to move faster than walking. It also makes his jumps a lot longer and faster.

Temporary

List of Powers

Temporary
* Magic Seed: Given to Rayman after helping Tarayzan, Rayman plants seeds to help him reach ledges and escape floods.
* Super Helicopter: A potion that allows Rayman to actually fly with his helicopter hair.
* Shrinking: Touching blue elves makes Rayman tiny, which is useful for accessing areas which were too small for normal-sized Rayman to go through. He returns to normal size when he touches another blue elf.
* Gold Fist: Allows Rayman's fist to be twice as strong.
* Rayman Statue: Gives Rayman an extra life, as well as restoring his entire health.

List of Powers

Power-ups
* Ting: Small blue bubbles, used either to pay the Magician to enter a bonus stage, or to gain an extra life when 100 are collected.
* Power: Comes in either a small red atom with a P on the front, or a large red one - the former gives Rayman one unit of health, while the latter replenishes his entire health.
* Speed Fist: Allows Rayman's fist to fly faster than normal. Three different speeds are available.
* Gold Fist: Allows Rayman's fist to be twice as strong.
* Rayman Statue: Gives Rayman an extra life, as well as restoring his entire health.

Plot
Rayman's world depends on the Great Protoon, in order for people and nature to live in peace and harmony. One day, the game's villain, Mr Dark, defeats Betilla as she tried to defend the Great Protoon which he steals, causing the Electoons to scatter. They are then captured by hostile creatures that appear after the incident, and are trapped in cages which Rayman has to break open in order to get closer to Mr Dark's hideout in the Candy Château. At a later point in the game, Mr Dark kidnaps Betilla.

Characters
Along the way, Rayman meets an array of different characters, some of which aid him through his journey.

Friends
* The Magician: He introduces the game's story. He can also be found at several points of the game, in which he would give you access to bonus stages that promise extra lives, provided you give him ten Tings.
* The Musician: Located high in the Blue Mountains, his guitar had been crushed by a rock which you must break to recover it. As a reward, he gives you the Super Helicopter Potion.
* Joe the Extra-Terrestrial: An alien that owns his own snack bar on the beach in the Cave of Skops, his neon lights are unplugged, and Rayman has to go down into the dark caves to turn it back on.
