Is unknown if he has an alliance with the grannies or the other livid dead creatures. Unlike the goth teensie, who's job is (according to the Bubble Dreamer) not to let the livid dead escape, the Grim Reaper's job is not letting anyone in.

Appearance
The Grim Reaper is a skeleton-like creature, with an enormous skull, which is big enough to cover the entrace to the Land of the Livid Dead. He has several bandages on his head and a black eye, suggesting that possibly something or somebody hurt him and made him lose all of his teeth. He wears a brown robe and holds a scythe in his right hand.
Role in the game
The Grim Reaper appears at the Snoring Tree's left corner, protecting the door that gives access to the Land of the Livid Dead, an optional final level. When the heroes appear, he waves his reaping hook in a threatening manner, but shortly after they come close to him, he quickly runs and hides, covering the entrace with his big head. In order to let them pass, the heroes have to redeem him by collecting 10 Shiny Skull Teeth for his toothless mouth.
Big Mama is a gigantic pink tentacled monster who acts as the final boss of Rayman Origins. She is fought in the Land of the Livid Dead, a hellish underworld and optional final level which can only be accessed by collecting all all of the Skull Teeth in the game. Several editions of The Daily Bubble showed a middle-aged female glute, known as Mamma Hité or Voodoo Mamma, who bore a strong resemblance to Big Mama; however, in the final version of the game, Big Mama turns into a nymph when she is defeated.

Big Mama was first revealed in the game's announcement trailer, where she is seen battling Rayman and Globox in Mystic Peak. Later artwork shows her tentacles descending from the clouds above the mountain, suggesting that the players would have to climb to reach her. However, in the final version of the game, the battle with Big Mama was relocated to the Land of the Livid Dead.

Big Mama's roars were provided by series creator Michel Ancel.
Bad Rayman, also known as Rayman's Wicked Double in Rayman Junior and Dark Rayman in Rayman Advance (though not to be confused with the Dark Rayman from certain versions of Rayman Arena) is an evil clone of Rayman created by Mr Dark for the sole purpose of destroying his original counterpart before reaching his hideout.

Character description
Bad Rayman's skin is grey, his hair and neckerchief are pink, he wears a dark blue shirt which still has the ring, and his shoes and gloves are also blue. He also has glowing yellow eyes with no pupils. He also has a green tongue, which can be noticed by having him make a grimace in Rayman Designer or Rayman Junior.

Videogame appearances
Rayman
He first appears at a very late point in all versions of Rayman except for the Atari Jaguar version, when the real Rayman finally reaches the second part of Mr Dark's Dare in Candy Château, and has a spell cast upon him by Mr Dark. The evil double appears behind him, and follows him wherever he goes as well as copying his actions. Rayman cannot stand still for too long at this point, because he and the double will die instantly if they come to close contact with each other. However, Bad Rayman will die as soon as the real Rayman reaches the exit in the area.

In Rayman Advance, Bad Rayman is called Dark Rayman, which has fuelled numerous debates on his real name, and the nature of the relationship between the two.

Rayman Junior
In the educational versions of the game, Bad Rayman appears in the penultimate level, tasty chase. Betilla refers to him as Rayman's "Wicked Double". However, he does not chase Rayman during the whole level, but only makes short appearances and disappears after a certain distance.

Game Boy Color version of Rayman
Bad Rayman also makes appearances in the Game Boy Color version of the game, in which he appears in a slightly different
colour scheme; his shoes and gloves are yellow, and his skin is darker than Rayman's. He is found at the end of the game, in Arcane Forest. Bad Rayman behaves in the same way as he did in the original game - chasing, copying, and causing death upon touch.
Rayman Origins
Bad Rayman makes a return in Rayman Origins as one of the sixteen playable characters. The Bubble Dreamer nicknames him DarkRay. To unlock him, 220 electoons are required.
When Rayman acquires this power, the symbol of his chest turns yellow, his hair, torso, shoes and a great part of his gloves turn green, and the base of his shoes, hood and fingers turn red. With this power Rayman wears a pair of special gloves with red and yellow spiral symbols that allow him to throw small tornadoes that can shrink his opponents and lower the Meadowscrews to access to high places. Using the power of the Vortex is one of the two ways to make Stumblebooms fall off their stilts, the second one being to get other Hoodbooms to destroy the stilts with plum juice jugs. The Vortex is the first laser-washing powder can that Rayman finds in the game when beating André in his Hoodblaster costume while he is distracted by Murfy in The Fairy Council. Its effect lasts 25 seconds, and it is the second most lasting power in the game, being the Lockjaw the first one.

‘You're doomed, Rayman!’ —Mr Dark, Candy Château

Mr Dark is the main antagonist and the final boss in the original Rayman game. He is encountered in Mr Dark's Dare, the first and only level of the Candy Château, which is the last of the game's six worlds. He is a mysterious being that steals the Great Protoon because of its immense power, causing the world to lose its natural stability. He also uses his powers to defeat Betilla the Fairy, who tries to defend the Great Protoon but is overpowered. At a later point of the game, Mr Dark kidnaps her and traps her in a crystal ball. Mr Dark also makes a significant appearance in Rayman Junior, an educational spin-off of the original game. The upcoming Rayman Origins will explain Mr Dark's origins, but it has been hinted that he will not directly appear in the game.

In Rayman
Before fighting Rayman, Mr Dark casts strange spells on him as he makes progress through Candy Château, such as creating Bad Rayman, reversing Rayman's movements, making him run uncontrollably and eventually stealing his telescopic fist. Following this, by the time Rayman reaches his hideout, he tries to destroy him by trapping him between deadly walls of fire and throws fire balls at him. When his situation seems desperate, a group of Electoons rescue Rayman by giving him back his telescopic fist. The final battle then begins, in which Rayman must battle what appear to be hybrids of the previous five bosses, which have Mr Dark's face as their resistance icon. It is open to interpretation whether Mr Dark is fusing the previous bosses together, or if he is shapeshifting into hybrids of them.

The first hybrid, or transformation, is a mixture of Mr Stone and Mr Skops. His is comprised of Mr Stone's body, feet and right hand, together with Mr Skops' head and claw. His only attack consists of hurling his claw at Rayman, which he can jump over and punch him in the face. If Rayman attempts to punch him too early, the monster will block his face with his claw. It is possible, with a certain timing and dexterity, to hit him up to three times per turn. After he has suffered eight blows to the face, the monster vanishes.

The second hybrid, or transformation, is a pair of identical monsters. Each one appears to be made of Moskito's body and Space Mama's head, feet and hands (as seen in her first appearance in Eraser Plains), whilst also holding her rolling pin, which fires lasers (as seen in her second appearance in Space Mama's Crater. Their only attack is shooting at Rayman, which he can jump over or duck under. If both of them shoot at the same height, the lasers will touch each other, morph into one laser, and come down towards the ground, which can be very hard to dodge for Rayman if he is ducking. If Rayman is ducking after they have shot, they will wait until he stands up. When Rayman gets the chance, he can punch either one of the two. Both monsters share a single resistance bar. When they have been damaged eight times, the monsters vanish.

The third and final hybrid, or transformation, is a mixture of Mr Sax, Space Mama, and Moskito. He is comprised of Space Mama's body, Mr Sax's feet and hands and Moskito's head. At the start of this fight, Rayman is shrunk to the same size he would have been had he touched a flying blue elf. As he tries to stomp him, Rayman must use his running ability to avoid getting squashed. If he makes it across, when the monster hits the ground, Rayman will fly into the air, which will give him a chance punch him in the face, the only part where he can get hurt.

Once the third hybrid, or transformation, has suffered eight punches, he vanishes, and Rayman is returned to his normal size. In the event that the monsters were hybrids created by fusing the previous bosses, it seems probable that Mr Dark set them on Rayman to stall him and give himself time to escape. In the event that the three monsters were transformations of Mr Dark, it would seem that Mr Dark was defeated by the final punch to the third form's head, and fled the château once beaten.

In the Game Boy Color release of Rayman, Mr Dark has imprisoned the Toons and uses their power for himself, throwing the world into darkness and chaos. Unlike the original, he does not transform himself when he engages in a final boss battle with Rayman. In between each level he can also be seen watching Rayman though a crystal ball.

In Arcane Forest, he casts two spells on Rayman, the first one summoning Bad Rayman, and the second one reversing Rayman's controls.

The final battle starts out with Mr Dark shielding himself from Rayman's fist with three bubble-like balls. Then, he slowly rises up, and when he is off screen, he rains fire upon him from above. After ten to fifteen fire balls are dropped, he descends back down to the stage, while still having the shield around himself, and turns into a ball. While in ball form, he randomly floats around the stage trying to ram Rayman. His objective is to hit him while he is in ball form three times. But as he hits him, he gets smaller and smaller, and becomes harder to hit. After hitting him three times, a heart appears at the top of the stage so he can replenish his health. Mr Dark turns back to normal, and then he floats off screen again.

This time, Mr Dark throws ten meteors at Rayman, two at a time. Then, he does the same routine as before: he comes back down, and turns into a ball. But this time, he will stay in ball form for a shorter period than before, and if Rayman can't manage to hit him three times within the time limit, he will turn back to normal and float back up into the sky to throw meteors at him again. If Rayman does hit him three times, a heart will appear once again, and he will rise back up into the sky to unleash his final attack.

This time, he shoots sixteen bolts of lightning. They are shot at the step he was just above on the stage, and can be easily avoided by using the Helicopter to hover over a lower step for a short time. After the sixteen bolts of lightning are shot, he turns back into ball form. Then, the time he is in ball form for even shorter. But if Rayman manages to hit him three times before he turns back to normal, he has beaten him. He turns back to normal form, burns up, and a spirit shape appears, then he completely fades from existence.

In Rayman Junior
Mr Dark also appears in the educational version of Rayman, Rayman Junior, in which he steals the Magic Book of Knowledge from the Magician and destroys a map to his hideout in Candy Château. He casts the same spells on Rayman as he did in the original game, but due to the game's educational nature, he doesn't fight as a boss at all. Once Rayman has solved the riddles on the parchment showing the way to his hideout and been through his spells, Mr Dark doesn't appear any more and Rayman eventually finds the Book of Knowledge.
Mr Dark will appear in Rayman Origins, the upcoming prequel to the original game. Origins will reveal how Mr Dark came to be. One of the game's trailers shows a brief glimpse of what seems to be Mr Dark standing on a stone platform, surrounded by Darktoons and other minions; for the first time we receive a brief but shadowy and unclear glimpse of his face, which seems to resemble that of a Teensie. Like Betilla the Fairy and the other returning Rayman characters, Mr Dark has been redesigned somewhat for this game, and is no longer limbless.
Mr Dark is referred to by name in the manual for Rayman 2: The Great Escape, where it is revealed that his defeat at the hands of Rayman is what convinced the inhabitants of the Glade of Dreams that the hero was trustworthy. However, he makes no actual appearance in the game.

Previews of the cancelled 2D version of Rayman 2 mention that the Robo-Pirate invasion took place after Mr Dark fled Rayman's island following the events of the first game. It is not known if Mr Dark was ever planned to have a larger role in this game; other characters from the original, including Betilla the Fairy, were intended to make an appearance.

Mr Dark makes an almost unnoticeably subtle cameo appearance in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. At the end of the 2D Madness minigame, a few photographs from the original game are glimpsed briefly, and between them they show almost all of the game's characters, including Mr Dark. In addition, the design of the game's titular Hoodlum enemies was conceived as a visual mixture between Mr Dark and the Hunters.

One of the game's trailers shows a brief glimpse of what seems to be Mr Dark standing on a stone platform, surrounded by Darktoons and other minions; for the first time we receive a brief but shadowy and unclear glimpse of his face, which seems to resemble that of a Teensie. Like Betilla the Fairy and the other returning Rayman characters, Mr Dark has been redesigned somwhat for this game, and is no longer limbless.

Ly's story begins in Rayman's mind, when she tells him that the Robo-Pirates have broken the Heart of the World into 1000 Yellow Lums and that it has weakened her, before he gets captured. She is then consulted by Globox, who she gives a Silver Lum to give to Rayman before they are both captured. While Globox is taken to the Buccaneer, Ly is held prisoner in an electrified forcefield in one of the pirate strongholds, deep in the Fairy Glade. The Silver Lum she created gives Rayman the ability to shoot balls of energy, and it is put to good use as he eventually finds her and destroys the machine that controlled the forcefield, freeing her. By then, she only has enough energy to create one Silver Lum, which upgrades Rayman's shooting ability to be used with Purple Lums. Before leaving to gather more energy, she passes her knowledge about Polokus and his four masks to him.

Later on, Ly makes more Silver Lums that make Rayman even more powerful, and by the time he reaches Razorbeard in the Crow's Nest, she uses one to save him from falling into the vast body of lava, and using telepathy, encourages him to fight until the robot Admiral is defeated. When the battle is over, at first she was made to believe that Rayman did not survive the explosion high in the sky, until he turns up alive.

Additionally, Ly offers Rayman to join her in a race through the Walk of Life and the Walk of Power, in which extra Yellow Lums are found, and offer him to have his health and power maximised. Despite it being a race, Ly does not have to be beaten.

Rayman Revolution
In Rayman Revolution, it is revealed that Ly resides in a house built in a giant tree somewhere in the East Plain, and it is there that she offers Rayman to play some mini games that top up his health and power, provided that he frees and brings to her enough Familiar Spirits for each game. She also meditates from a stone in the area of Globox's House, and a stele in Rainbow Creek. She is also a playable character in the unlockable mini game Missile Dogfight.

Rayman 2 Forever (GBC)

Ly plays a similar role in the handheld Rayman 2, although as with most characters her part is shortened due to the limited story telling. She is not captured in the Fairy Glade and is simply encountered there. She does not give Rayman the power to swing from purple lums on screen, although the rings (the equivilent to the purple lums in this version) do not appear until after her meeting with Rayman in the Fairy Glade, suggesting she may have given him this power after all and it was simply not shown. She tells Rayman to gather the masks of Polukus as always, but offers no explaination as to what they are. She appears several times throughout the game to give Rayman the temporary Super Helico power, and instructs him to destroy Razorbeard before the final battle. She congratulates Rayman upon his victory.

Rayman 3 (Game Boy Advance)
In this game, Ly plays largely the same role as Betilla the Fairy in the original Rayman game. Oddly enough, Ly's sprite in this game shows that her tail is missing, and is now replaced a large ponytail at the back of her head, though in a cut-scene she still has her original tail and short hair.

Rayman Raving Rabbids (Game Boy Advance)
Ly makes some brief appearances in the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman Raving Rabbids, where she gives Rayman a costume medallion every time he defeats a boss. While the game uses the same sprites as the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman 3, she has a new appearance in the cut-scenes, where the front of her hair is curlier than before, she has pale blue lipstick, and her suit reveals her shoulders.

Character description
Appearance
While she is of a very thin build, Ly shares some typical fairy attributes, such as her long elven ears, her magical powers, and the ability to float in mid-air. Like Betilla the Fairy, but unlike other fairies, she does not have wings. She has short purple hair and a long, bushy tail of the same colour, while having green eyes and lips. Contrary to popular belief, she is not naked, but wears a yellow suit with plum stripes and swirls all over. Because of her tail, it is speculated that she may have some animal – most likely feline – characteristics. Early concept artwork for Rayman 2 that depicted her shows that she may have been originally an anthropomorphic cat, as she appeared to have cat ears and a non-human nose. In the Walks of Life and Power, she sometimes runs on all fours.

Physical
Ly shows great athletic and gymnastic skills, perhaps more so than Rayman's, as she can run faster and jump much higher than he can. In fact, she can cross very large gaps, such as on the river in the Walk of Power, while Rayman would have to use his Helicopter. However, it is possible for the player to outrun her in the Walk of Life, though in all versions of the game, apart from Rayman Revolution, she will simply teleport herself to the finishing point if she is too far behind. Despite being very thin, a piece of official artwork depicts her with enough strength to juggle all of Rayman's body parts with ease. She can also shoot energy spheres, like Rayman's, as a method of defence.

Personality
Similar to Betilla the Fairy, she is a calm and very meditative character, even in her captivity at the Fairy Glade, and spends most of her time meditating deep in the forest, by floating while in a sitting lotus position. Rayman says that the Woods of Light is one of her favourite places to be. When she is not meditating, she is a fun-loving and friendly character that puts a lot of faith and trust in the heroes of the world, and is willing to help Rayman defeat Admiral Razorbeard and the Robo-Pirate army.

It is unknown if she is at all related to Tily, a much younger fairy who appears in Rayman M/Arena/Rush, and who shares some of her features and has a similar name to her. It has been speculated that Tily was created as a replacement for Ly in these games, as Ly is still seen on some of their promotional artwork.

Trivia
*Ly was originally going to appear in Rayman M, as several promotional pictures and even the back cover of the game showed, but was in the end replaced by Tily the Fairy.
* There was a concept artwork for Rayman 3 which may have depicted Ly with a totally different appearance. She had no tail, but instead had huge dragonfly-like wings, her hair and lips were now phthalo blue instead of purple, and she wore a new outfit of the same colour, as well as a pair of elbow length gloves, while also having blue dots over her face and arms. This design was dropped from the final game, though it can be found as a printable in the Rayman 3 Print Studio.
* Ly likes to juggle – several Rayman 2 images depict her juggling at least three red balls, and even Rayman's body parts.
* Ly's voice in Rayman 2 is an echoing, feminine voice. In Revolution, although Ly spoke English, this echoing voice is still heard in the background.
* She takes part of a music band in the credits of Rayman Revolution, where she plays the banjo.
* In the Japanese version of Rayman 2 for the Dreamcast and Rayman Revolution, Ly's entire appearance had been changed to suit the preferences of the Japanese market. Her eyes were rounder, her pupils were bigger and a lighter shade of green in colour, she was given thin eyebrows the same colour as her hair, and instead of green lips, they were now pink. Her clothes also became purple and white. She is known as ‘Rai’ (ﾗｲ) in all Japanese versions of the game.

Cameos
*Rayman M: In Ly's Palace, an ice sculpture of Ly is found the centre of the room.
*Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc: In the third phase of the Longest Shortcut, another statue of Ly can be found hidden behind a painting.
The Longest Shortcut, also known as the Temple of the Grand Minimus, is the sixth level of Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc.

The Longest Shortcut is the world in Rayman 3 that acts as a portal to the the Summit Beyond the Clouds. Its strategic obstacles demonstrate what kind of a maze the Teensie beings have devised for passers. In this world, Rayman is faced with several challenging and confusing booby-traps, including invisible platforms, fake walls and illusional mirrors.

There are three secret rooms hidden in The Longest Shortcut.

* Fake Window Secret (part 1)
* Fake Wall Secret (part 2)
* Fake Picture Secret (part 3)
This contains the hidden statue of Ly the Fairy

Each requires deep investigation – a skill vital for such a world.

The Teensies have made this "shortcut" ever more challenging by locking each switch until all the 85 crowns are collected. These crowns are distributed all around the area to make sure passers must provide strong determination and effort before proceeding.

Crowns in each phase:

* Phase 1: 15 Crowns
* Phase 2: 30 Crowns
* Phase 3: 40 Crowns

Andrew is a character who appears only in English with Rayman. He is the cousin of the Magician.

At the beginning of the game, the Magician is standing with Betilla the Fairy outside a toadstool-like house. The Magician suddenly receives a letter from his cousin Andrew, containing a magic formula – this letter plays the same role as the Magic Book of Knowledge in Rayman Junior. Mr Dark spies the letter containing the formula, and attacks, stealing it and temporarily transforming the Magician and Betilla into garden gnomes. Once they recover, they call Rayman and ask him to recover the letter.

Andrew is said to be English – the entire English with Rayman game is strongly disconnected from the rest of the Rayman series in that it attempts to blend real-world locations (such as the Statue of Liberty and the World Trade Center) with the locations of the valley. The game also contains references to other countries, including Ireland and Scotland. No trace of this real-world connection is present in any other Rayman game, including Rayman Junior.

Throughout Rayman Junior, Rayman often finds the hats of the Magician and Betilla the Fairy; touching one of these hats causes the voice of the corresponding character to give Rayman directions. In English with Rayman, the hats of the Magician and Betilla reappear, as well as two new hats: these hats look like those of the Magician and Betilla, except that they are half bright-blue and half bright-red in colour, and dotted with silver stars. The hat which resembles the Magician's (and the instructive, English-accented voice which is heard when Rayman touches it) belongs to Andrew. The hat which resembles Betilla's (and the English-accented voice which comes from it) apparently belongs to some English relative of Betilla.

At the end of each level in English with Rayman, Andrew appears to congratulate Rayman in the same way that the Magician congratulated him at the end of levels in Rayman Junior. When he appears, Andrew looks identical to his cousin; he does not wear his red-and-blue hat which is seen throughout the level.

At one point in the introductory sequence, the Magician's family photo album is seen. It contains photographs of the Magician, Andrew, and a number of other family members, all of whom look identical.
Despite this, nobody has dared to enter the Cave, not even Razorbeard and the Robo-Pirates. Therefore, there are no cages to be found inside. Rayman, however, needs to go there in order to obtain the Elixir of Life, which his friend Clark needs to recover from an illness caused by swallowing a rusty Robo-Pirate. The entrance to this subterranean grotto is located in the Marshes of Awakening.

Before entering the Cave, Rayman has to remember the name of it, as Clark tells him in the Menhir Hills, otherwise Jano will shoo him away. In this version of the game, it is found by walking on a giant branch to Rayman's left at the beginning of the Marshes of Awakening, until he sees Jano standing behind walls of cobwebs. Provided that he reads that Rayman knows the name of this place, he will shake his skull headed stick which hypnotises Rayman and teleports him to the inside of the Cave.

Phase 1
Down the backbone of a gigantic animal, there is a Purple Lum to grab to cross a wide gap with rivers of living thorns at the bottom. Skulls fall down into this, and Rayman uses them to get across some more, as well as climbing on walls with bones embedded into them. Then there is a wide hole in which a skeletal clawed hand pops out to grab Rayman and pull him into the unknown, but that can be prevented by shooting at them. After that, there are three pillars with climbable bones that sink as soon as Rayman grabs on.

Down the next corridor which is riddled with more skeletal hands, there is a double wall Rayman can wall jump inside of, but from time to time they space themselves out so he can't climb up, and then close in. At the top, there is now a chasm, and on a wide edge there is a gold pedestal, like the one found in the Sanctuary of Water and Ice guarded by Mini Janos. About four to six of these appear, two at a time, and they all need to be defeated in order for the matching Magic Sphere to appear. Once they join, the pedestal moves and Rayman has to drop down the hole it reveals.

Now there are two more pedestals, which surround a carving on the wall that looks like the one-eyed monsters Rayman had just encountered. To his left is a ledge that leads to two passages to choose from - each one is where a Magic Sphere can be found. The silver sphere is found in the passage of the left, the gold one to the right. In the silver chamber, there are giant slabs of stone that rotate on top of tall rocks, which Rayman needs to cross and throw the sphere back and then carry it to its correct pedestal. In the gold chamber, there is a skull supported by a skeletal arm, which moves Rayman across the gap to the other side. Another moving double wall is passed through onto another moving skull, which leads to a series of pillars that are teeming with shadow creatures. Near them is a skull that moves upwards to a ledge where the gold sphere is found. This chamber is circular, so all Rayman needs to do is throw it down a few ledges rather than going all the way back. When both of the spheres are placed on their pedestals, the carving opens up by the mouth, and Rayman drops down a hole that is covered fragile shards of green crystal.

Phase 2
Rayman is now in a passage with a slope covered with shining green crystal, and then Jano reappears from underground, threatening to eat him. So he now has to slide down, shooting any crystal growths that are in his way - if he slides too slowly, Jano will eat him, causing him to respawn at the beginning. At the end, he will enter a chasm where he has to avoid the fire that Jano breathes, just like his smaller counterparts. Jano will then generate floating skulls which can be stopped by Rayman's shots, and then he can jump from them to get to where Jano is standing. Jano, who is invincible, will keep breathing fire and generating skulls until he is chased to the far end of the chasm by Rayman, and then dig himself underground, allowing the limbless hero to walk into a chamber piled with treasure.

A single coin is flicked and rolls to his feet, and Jano them offers him all this treasure to keep for himself. There are two options to choose from - "I want the treasure", and "No treasure for me". The former is obviously the greedy choice, but if Rayman chooses that, he will be taken to a small deserted island where he gains a drastic amount of weight, and lazes in a deckchair with a fraction of his gold surrounding him. This scene pretends to be an ending, with the words "THE END" appearing, but then it returns to Rayman's decision. Rejecting the treasure, he is teleported back to the Marshes of Awakening, and congratulated by Jano for not being greedy. As a reward, Jano gives him the Elixer of Life to take to Clark back at the Menhir Hills.
PlayStation version
In this version of the game, the Cave of Bad Dreams is not a sub level, but a true level that follows the Menhir Hills. This means that Rayman will not need to travel back to the Marshes of Awakening to find the cave's entrance. The sub plot involving Clark and the elixir is still present, however.

Phase 1
While there is still a backbone, it has been split to different platforms to run and jump across. Much of this part of the phase remains the same, but instead of the moving double wall, there are three Purple Lums to use to get to the top of chasm in which the Mini Janos roam. There are only two of these, but they have a much stronger resistance than those in the original version.

Phase 2
In this version of the game, Phase 2 begins at the two pedestals and the one eyed monster carving on the wall. Much of this area stays the same as that in the original version, except for the appearance of jumping eyes – previously seen at the entrance of the Cave in the Marshes of Awakening - in the gold passage.

Phase 3
In this phase, Rayman is chased by Jano down the green crystal slide, which remains the same as that in the original version.

Phase 4
The confrontation with Jano begins, where he will use the same techniques – breathing fire and generating skulls – as before. The only differences here is that some pillars will fall when Rayman steps on them. At the end, he will automatically refuse the treasure, which convinces Jano to give him the Elixir of Life.

}}

PlayStation 2 version
In this version of the game, the Cave of Bad Dreams is located at the end of the Marshes of Awakening, which should only be visited once Clark tells Rayman the name of the Cave. Apart from graphical enhancements, much of this level remains the same as before, though there are no Yellow Lums to collect. There is also an extra ledge in the chasm with the first gold pedestal, on which more of the Mini Janos roam. Defeating these does not reveal anything.

Unlike the previous versions, in which the Cave can be revisited, it can only be visited once, and Jano will not be at the end of the Marshes to take Rayman back in again because there are no Yellow Lums.

Teensies are a race of ancient, diminutive and wise creatures native to the Glade of Dreams. These creatures are frequently encountered in Rayman 2: The Great Escape, Rayman 2: Revolution, Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc and Rayman Origins.

Description
Teensies have pale blue-grey skin and are characterized by their faces, which generally appear quite large due to their long, drooping noses, which overlap their hidden mouths. Their noses are marked with elegant spiral patterns which are slightly darker that the rest of their skin, though these markings are only vaguely noticeable until Rayman M. Teensies have little, black, beady eyes and small, mitten-like hands that lack any fingers other than thumbs. They are short compared to most of the Glade's inhabitants; to compensate for this, the Teensies in Rayman M stand, one on top of the other's shoulder.

The Teensies were created by Polokus to oversee the many passages of the world. After the Fairies, they were the second race to be created, and as such are among the most ancient inhabitants of the world. Long before the events of the Rayman games, the Teensies created the Hall of Doors, a magic place where all paths eventually meet. Most, if not all Teensies have the ability to create Magic Spiral Doors; these portals can quickly take a Teensie (or other character, such as Rayman) from one location to one another. The Teensies can harness the power of Yellow Lums collected by Rayman to create Magic Spiral Doors or open sealed doors that lead Rayman to the Sanctuaries.

The many Teensies are collectively ruled by the four Grand Minimus Teensies, who reside deep within the Fairy Council, near the Heart of the World.

The Teensie race is a diverse one, and the personality and dialect of a Teensie widely depends on where it comes from. In general, many Teensies are talkative and fun-loving creatures who have a taste for disco. Many Teensies are very old, absent-minded and forgetful; when the Grand Minimus was locked in a cage with three other Teensies, they eventually forgot which one of them was King, and were forced to rule together to overcome this problem. The older Teensies spend their spare time performing acrobatic dance moves, in order to make the younger, less-experienced Teensies envious.

Female Teensies have yet to make an appearance in any game so far, and so it is unknown how similar they are to their male counterparts. Female Teensies are only subtly alluded to in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, in which some Teensies will grumble about needing to attend to their children or aunts (which have never appeared in any game). Though there exists the possibility that Teensies are hermaphroditic, it is generally regarded that the existence of Teensie females is more likely.

Teensies were originally planned to appear in Rayman 4; they appeared in some early screenshots and the first teaser trailer. However, when the game was being remodelled into a party game, the Teensies were cut.

Role in the games
Rayman 2/Revolution/Rayman DS
see Grand Minimus, or (for Revolution only) Crowned Teensie
see Grand Minimus

Rayman 3
In Rayman 3, most Teensies have taken the role previously held by Electoons in Rayman and Denys, Ludivs, Greenbottles, etc. in the many versions of Rayman 2. Though a few Teensies such as the Grand Minimus and the Teensie Doctors have a role in the game's plot and are found elsewhere, most Teensies are found by destroying a cage. If Rayman destroys enough cages in a world, his HP Bar will increase its maximum capacity.

Rayman Origins
Teensies will appear in the upcoming prequel game, Rayman Origins. It has been announced that the third and fourth players in the game's co-operative mode will play as Teensies. In addition, the game's trailer shows a Teensie taking a photograph of the primary player characters, Rayman and Globox. They are standing behind a humorous board which portrays them in a fashion remarkably similar to that of the Photographer in the original Rayman game, suggesting that a Teensie or Teensies will take over the Photographer and the Green Lums' role in immortalising the player's feats – a checkpoint. The French magazine Jeux Vidéo Magazine also revealed in a interview about the upcoming game that players will learn more about the origins of the Teensies.
*During Rayman 2's production, the Teensies' original name was Smallbeings.
*After beating the Canopy, Uglette, Globox, Hardrox and some of Globox's sons and daughters can be found at Globox's House. Upon speaking to Globox, he tells Rayman that he can sleep easy now. He also tells Rayman that the Teensies found a little cave down his well, which leads to Whale Bay, Skull Cave and the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire. However, though the subtitles read 'Teensies', Globox actually says 'the little ones'.

Rayman M
see Grand Minimus

Trivia
*During Rayman 2's production, the Teensies' original name was Smallbeings.
*After beating the Canopy, Uglette, Globox, Hardrox and some of Globox's sons and daughters can be found at Globox's House. Upon speaking to Globox, he tells Rayman that he can sleep easy now. He also tells Rayman that the Teensies found a little cave down his well, which leads to Whale Bay, Skull Cave and the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire. However, though the subtitles read 'Teensies', Globox actually says 'the little ones'.
