The Rayman Pirate-Community, commonly abbreviated to Pirate-Community or PC, has been the largest Rayman community since the first deletion of the RaymanZone forums on December 20th 2004. It was founded on August 8th 2003 by Hunchman801, an ex-moderator of the French and English sections of RaymanZone, shortly after he was unfairly banned. Pirate-Community can currently be found at www.raymanpc.com.

History
Pirate-Community was originally meant to be the fusion of four fan sites (RaymanBD, RaymanTCG, RaymanEncyclo, and MetalGearRayman), but soon became an influent and active internet portal, thanks to its forum, which purpose was to provide a fair and free place for Rayman fans, in opposition to the arbitrary bans occuring on RaymanZone. The first three fan sites were later merged into RayMind, while the last one was discontinued.

However, the three most important Pirate-Community websites are now RayTunes, founded on June 20th 2006 by Drolpiraat, RayWiki, founded on January 4th 2008 by Hunchman801, and RaySaves, founded on 21st April 2013 by RoboticTeensie. Even though Pirate-Community is still mostly visited for its forums, these websites have become references on the internet.

On February 25th 2009, a new Rayman 3 Hall of Fame was created on Pirate-Community, in order to replace the official one, which was long discontinued.

The community has also seen partnerships and affiliation with Rayman Fanpage, another unofficial Rayman fansite, The IRIS Network, a wiki for the Beyond Good and Evil franchise and Haruka's YouTube channel, containing walkthroughs for many games in the Rayman series.

The RaySaves facility was added to the Pirate-Community servers on February 8th 2014, it currently hosts save game files for the PC versions of Rayman and Rayman 3.

The community celebrated its tenth birthday on August 8th, 2013, with a new theme for the board making its debut for the celebration. As of that date, there were over 797,000 posts in total. In 2015, the community's 1,000,000th post was made, to celebrate, a new banner was put up, and tings for the day were doubled.

As of April 1st 2016, more than 1,120,490 messages have been posted on Pirate-Community.

Appearance
Pirate-Community has had many changes to its appearance since its conception, initially using existing themes with Rayman related icons on top. The original theme used by the forums was the subSilver theme for phpBB2, it moved to using the Solaris theme in 2005-2006, and currently uses a proprietary theme designed by gay people

It has also seen changes in appearance in celebration of holiday events, in addition to community specific events such as its 10th Anniversary.
Foutch, also known as the Gangster of the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava, is a racist guy who is in the Waffen SS and he hates black people more than everything

Description
Foutch is a hovering, legless, yellow-coloured creature with a pyramidal head, which floats slightly apart from his body. His fists and chest are decorated with fiery insignia, and his arms appear to be made of a transparent, glassy substance. In the Dreamcast version, he glows with a blue aura; in the other versions, his head glows yellow, and the rest of him remains dull. Foutch is the Guardian of the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava, a level themed around the classical element of fire. However, Foutch is only encountered in the next level, Beneath the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava, where the third Mask of Polokus is hidden. The benevolent god Polokus created Foutch and the other Guardians to watch over these Masks. Once the four Masks are reunited, Polokus can be reawakened, and can aid in Rayman's quest to defeat the Robo-Pirates. Foutch is the most aggressive of the four Guardians, who were created by Polokus to protect the Masks. In the Sony PlayStation version of the game, the Grand Minimus reveals that Foutch has been driven insane by the destruction of the Heart of the World. He will no longer listen to reason, and believes Rayman to be a lying thief who has come to steal the Mask for malevolent purposes. Ly the Fairy attempted to ‘contact his spirit’, but was unable to soothe him in the way she soothed Umber.

Role in the games
In each version of Rayman 2, Foutch plays the same role (with the exception of Rayman 2 Forever, in which the Guardians are all ommitted). Foutch appears near the end of his Beneath the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava. Catching Rayman by surprise, he punches the hero, causing him to tumble into Foutch's magma-filled arena, permanently stripping him of his new super helicopter power in the progress. The fight begins. In the PlayStation version, Rayman unsuccessfully attempts to reason with the Guardian first. Throughout the fight, Foutch chases Rayman around his circular arena while hurling horizontal and vertical beams of fire at him. In order to defeat him, Rayman must use spider-webs to bounce himself high in the air, then use his magic fist to strike down overhanging stalactites. If a stalactite lands on Foutch's head, he is injured; this is quite similar to the method by which Rayman defeated the first Guardian, Axel, except that Foutch requires three hits rather than one. Each stalactite will inflict 13 damage upon him, out of his resistance of 30. When defeated, he explodes, releasing a number of Red Lums, as well as Purple Lums which can be used escape the arena and find the Mask. It is not clear if Foutch was destroyed or not; in the PlayStation version, he and Axel can be re-fought an unlimited number of times, but in the other versions they never appear again after they have been defeated.

Other Appearances
Rayman Revolution contains an additional minigame entitled Ray-Type Challenge, which is based on the Menezis minigame from the Windows and Dreamcast versions of the game. Ray-Type Challenge is a sidescrolling shooter game. The player controls Rayman, who sits astride a flying shell which is flying through space. He must overcome numerous obstacles, including piranhas, bats, Robo-Pirate projectiles and Boss Chenilles, either by shooting them or manoeuvring around them. As the minigame progresses, Rayman eventually encounters Foutch, who is its most powerful opponent. Once Rayman defeats him, he explodes, and the minigame continues as normal; it runs on indefinitely until Rayman loses his three lives, allowing Foutch to be encountered an unlimited number of times.

Role in the games
Unlike most bosses in the series, Axel only takes one hit to be destroyed, making him less powerful than some of the other Guardians. He attacks by throwing icicles at Rayman, who has to get to him by swinging across a series of Purple Lums in the air. Once close enough, Rayman shoots an overhanging icicle with his magic fist, causing it to fall on to Axel's head, defeating him in a single hit. In most versions of the game he explodes and evaporates into the air with a roar of rage; in the PlayStation version, the icicle sticks on his head and he slowly sinks into the fountain below him, where he dissolves.

Axel does not appear to be an inherently evil being; like the other Guardians, he was created by Polokus to guard his four magical Masks and prevent them from falling into the wrong hands. The PlayStation version of the game contains additional cutscenes in which Rayman engages in dialogue with the Guardians Axel, Umber and Foutch; in the conversation with Axel, it is revealed that he regards Rayman as a thief who threatens the safety of the first Mask. When Axel attacks Rayman, he is ultimately acting under the instructions of Polokus.

Like the other Guardians, Axel's name is not given in the PlayStation version Rayman 2.
It is good that the Ninjaws article was finally separated into correct two articles, but why you've deleted image of Ninja Pirate, instead of renaming it and placing there? Anyway, if you want to do anything with this image, you got it here: http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/4067/ninjaws.png

:I decided to remove it because it was a cropped image: as I said in the deletion log, they're best avoided and I thought it could be the occasion to replace it with a full picture ;) —Hunchman801 19:02, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

:: Well, I've went into the game for a quick shot and created another, full screenshot: http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/2479/ninjapirate.jpg Maybe we'll use them both as a in-game screenshot and a close-up view?

::: You didn't have to re-upload the close-up view, but well, it doesn't matter. This article needs more content in regard to the different types of Robo-Ninjas, and I'll take care of this later. —Hunchman801 13:46, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

I have come across a significant incoherence in this article: at one point, it says that the ninja pirates from Revolution have unlimited health, while it later refers to the eventuality of the player defeating them (mentioning the possibility to destroy them or not). I haven't played Revolution in years, so I would appreciate anyone who has to enlighten me so that I can clean up this mess. While I'm a it, a couple screenshots of the ninjas from the PS2 version (preferably three of them, not all from the same level) would be great, while a description of their behaviour would be welcome as well. Last but not least, counting their hit points in each version would allow us to add a template to this promising article. —Hunchman801 12:28, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

:As far as I am aware the Ninja Pirates have unlimited health in Rayman Revolution. If you hit them, they just disappear and appear in other place of the room with the machines imprisioning the Teensie Gatekeepers. When you destroy the machines it is unknown what happens to them in future, but the ones side to Razorbeard don't appear after opening the passage to the Pirate Factory. --Haruka 12:39, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

:I just checked their hit points in a couple of versions. In the PS1 version, Ninjaws takes 15 hits to defeat, and the Ninja Henchmen in the Tomb of the Ancients and the Gloomy Island take 12 hits each. In the Dreamcast version, the one fought in the Prison Ship also takes 15 hits. Some screenshots of the two that guard the generators in Revolution would be great. —Spiraldoor 19:02, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

::Thanks a lot, Spiral! Judging by the similarities between the PC and Dreamcast versions, I think it's a fair bet to assume that they have 12 HP in the PS version and 15 in the PC and Dreamcast versions. As concerns the PS2 version, here is what Holy Crap wrote in the 'Generator Room' article: "It is actually not necessary to defeat the Ninja Henchman in order to destroy the generator, however it can be done by shooting him as he stands near a pool of lava, causing him to fall in." Crap is a reliable source, so I guess it explains it all. So yeah, all we need is screenshots now :) —Hunchman801 21:26, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
Ninja Henchmen, also known as Ninja Pirates, are a type of Robo-Pirate that appears in Rayman 2: The Great Escape and its remakes.

Description
Ninja Henchmen appear to be part of their own elite squadron in the Robo-Pirate army, the low number encountered in the duration of the game suggests that they are only deployed for more special missions. They are amongst the most formidable Robo-Pirates that Rayman will encounter, with many techniques at their disposal.

Physically, they share a similar body structure to that of the Henchman 800, however, their individual body parts differ in shape and design. Unlike the Henchman 800, Ninja Henchmen appear to have hands clasped into fists, they hold a golden hook on their right hand, and can fire various projectiles with their left. Their legs are thicker than a Henchman 800's, and are decorated with golden patterns. In terms of dress, Ninja Henchmen wear a red bandana, a patch on their right eye, a tight black clothing, a great belt strap and black shoes with gold square buckle. Their visible eye is coloured white in-game, but promotional artwork from Rayman M has it coloured green akin to the green eye seen on many Henchman 800 models.

In Rayman 2
Original version
Ninja Henchmen only make two appearances in the original version of Rayman 2, both as mini-bosses.

The first one is encountered at the end of the Precipice, in a Robo-Pirate establishment with a docked Warship. In order to be able to unlock a door to reach the exit Spiral Door, this Ninja Henchman must be defeated. It will attack Rayman by firing large conical projectiles akin to those fired by some models of Henchman 800, it will also swipe at Rayman with its hook should he be within range. A good technique to quickly defeat this Ninja Henchman is to have the docked Warship shoot at the Ninja Henchman accidentally as it attempts to shoot at Rayman.

The second Ninja Henchman is encountered within the interior of the Prison Ship, where it will need to be defeated in order to have a Flying Shell spawn for Rayman to progress. This Ninja Henchman is more formidable than the first, as it will leap away from sight after an attack, and can then land at any point to resume its attack, including where Rayman stands and causing him to be momentarily flattened. It can attack by throwing fire balls, in addition to also swiping its hook at Rayman, should he be close enough. A Gold Fist is close to where this Ninja Henchman is encountered, which will help in dealing more damage when the Ninja Henchman is open to attack.

|
|}

Playstation version
Ninja Henchmen feature more prominently in this version of the game, where it is revealed that they are their own unique squad within the Robo-Pirate army. Their leader is also revealed to be Ninjaws, who will personally fight Rayman as the boss of the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire, to prevent him from gaining possession of the Second Mask of Polokus. Another four Ninja Henchmen will make appearances as mini-bosses in the Precipice, the Tomb of the Ancients, and Gloomy Island.

Ninjaws and the Ninja Henchmen in this game all employ the same technique, they will disappear and reappear after every attack. Their main tactic is to try and appear close to Rayman and hit him with their hooks, dodging this attack successfully is vital, as it is revealed by Umber that their hooks are heavy. It is due to this heaviness that the Ninja Henchman will momentarily struggle to lift their hooks, should Rayman dodge them, and thus, give him an opening to retaliate. In addition to this attack, they will also periodically fire yellow energy projectiles at Rayman. When sufficiently damaged, they will disappear and reappear in a circular pattern, firing a projectile each time they reappear, before returning to attacking with their hooks.

Playstation 2 version
In Rayman 2: Revolution they are referred as the Generator Guardians of the two generators of the Pirate Factory and can be seen standing on either side of Admiral Razorbeard's chair in the Prison Ship cutscenes. They have unlimited heath, as it is not necessary to defeat them in order to destroy the generators; however, it can be done by shooting them as they stand near a pool of lava, causing them to fall in. They fire the same bullets as the green Robo-Pirates, but they are more accurate and faster. Once Rayman destroys the generators, he can enter the Pirate Factory. After he has destroyed them, these two Ninja Henchmen are absent in the next Razorbeard cutscene, regardless of whether Rayman actually destroys them or not.

Notably, their hands look like fists, although they have hook in right hand, growing up from the fingers, and they can shoot with the flames from their left hands, like normal Henchmen, although it appears that they are shooting from their fingers.

He was intended to be a boss from the Clearleaf Forest into which Rayman escaped during a race/chase (viewed from in front), while doing his best to avoid certain obstacles. Unfortunately, the programmers found this enormous character too difficult to "tame" because of his size. However, though he was set aside, the more skilful Rayman 3 players succeeded in detecting his presence in a hidden level at the end of the game.|sign=VIP-zone description|source=RaymanZone}}

The Xowar, also known as the Xovar, is a species of gigantic gorilla-like creature from Rayman 3. In all its appearances it has a distinctive tusk protruding from the right side of its lower jaw. It was planned to be the boss of Clearleaf Forest, and Rayman would have escaped the battle during a race/chase (viewed from the front), while doing his best to avoid certain obstacles (similar to the idea of the fight with Foutch in Rayman 2), but its size made it too difficult for the programmers to work with, so it was replaced by Master Kaag.

clear
The Xowar can still be seen at two places in the final version of the game:

*In a secret room found just before the final Reflux fight in the Tower of the Leptys. In this secret room, generally known to players as the Xowar secret, there are three room-sized (and unbreakable) cages, each containing a different scrapped character. One cage holds a Glute, one holds an in-game model of a Bonton similar to the one in the intro video (except the one in the cage is blue), in the third cage is a Xowar running on a treadmill.

*In the arena of the Master Kaag battle in the Clearleaf Forest, there is a 'Wanted' poster depicting the Xowar. It has been speculated that the Hoodlums want him for his fur for their costumes or as an ally against Rayman.

<table>
<tr>
<td valign="top">
<td valign="top">
<td valign="top"></td>
</tr>
</table>

In the loading screen of Rayman 3 and for the Windows demo version, a Xowar is partially shown, lining up with various Hoodlums for a police mugshot.
According to an examination of the files on the Rayman 3 disc, a Xowar minigame was once planned for inclusion in the game. The premise of the minigame was that the Xowar is the kindest of creatures, and that it takes pity on Rayman due to the fact that he has no limbs. Convinced of Rayman's suffering, the Xowar chases him in an attempt to kill him and put him out of his supposed misery. The player would presumably have controlled Rayman as he fled from the Xowar. The Xowar minigame's description is similar to that of the scrapped Xowar boss fight in the Clearleaf Forest, making it seem likely that the minigame was a recycled version of the fight. It is not known why the minigame was omitted from the final version of the game; the Xowar was initially removed as a boss because he was too large for the programmers to work with, and the minigame may have been removed for similar technical reasons.
