The Magic Book of Knowledge is a magic book that only appears in Rayman Junior. It apparently holds the answers to every question in the whole of Rayman's world. It is guarded by the Magician, who keeps it in his cottage. In Rayman Junior, which is set after the events of the original game, Mr Dark returns and steals the Magic Book of Knowledge. The Magician and Betilla the Fairy then send Rayman on a quest to recover it. Rayman eventually finds it in Mr Dark's Lair, the game's final level.

In English with Rayman, the Magic Book of Knowledge is replaced by a magic formula which the Magician receives from his cousin, Andrew.
Walking drums are a seemingly pacific species found only in the original Rayman game and in Rayman Junior. They are only present in the Band Land world. They have the appearance of a grey drum with swimming flippers and diving goggles, and they freely wander on their platform, turning back and forth whenever they reach an obstacle. When Rayman jumps onto them, they stop moving and let him bounce on them. They cannot hurt Rayman.

Oddly, in Rayman Designer and the other games with a designing tool, these drums are classed as 'Enemies', though they do not hurt Rayman in any way.
Dark Globox is a one-off character that appears only in the North American releases of Rayman Arena for the GameCube and Xbox, as an unlockable, playable character. Despite not appearing in any European release as a character, his theme song is used to represent Globette in Rayman Rush in all regions.

Character Description
Dark Globox is the larger, uglier, less intelligent and more evil doppelgänger of Globox. His skin is purple in colour; he has a tuft of messy black hair on his head, wonky yellow buck teeth sticking out of his mouth, and on his back is a picture of a skull. He uses the same technique to shoot as his mild-mannered counterpart, but to glide, he spins into a mini tornado in the air, much like the Tasmanian Devil from Looney Tunes. He is very bad-mannered, and is unable to speak anything decipherable.

The manual of Rayman Arena offers the following description of Dark Globox:

<blockquote>Profession: Walking Disaster. <br>
Likes: Eating. (A lot. Of everything. Of anything. All the time.) Working out and wasting pirates. <br>
Dislikes: Peace and quiet, baths, and games that require some thought. <br>
Address: Right where he was a minute ago.</blockquote>

A cyan skin is available as an unlockable, which makes him look more similar to Globox.
I also see you're from Poland, do not hesitate to contact me if you're interested in a Polish version of RayWiki.
Thanks for joining anyway!
: Thanks for greetings. :) StaceyW has already informed me that resized pictures don't works, as you see on top. Yes, I'm interested in PL version of RayWiki, but this may take many time for work on translating articles. So - not in this moment, but maybe later. :)

:: You can also ask friends if you know other people from Poland interested in the wiki. Contact me whenever you want ;)
:: Also, I see you've uploaded a lot of images: it's great, but just keep in mind that you don't have to cut them, like you did for the shadow creatures. It's better to have full screenshots, because after all, it isn't so hard to find what they were posted for!
:Don't make suggestions to games developers. That will never, ever work. They are professionals. They know what they are doing and they do not require tips from ten-year-olds. Also, you may want to work on your English; I don't know if it's your first language, but your spelling, grammar, punctuation and general coherence are all over the place – it's difficult to understand what you're saying. If you plan on hanging around here for long, you should probably learn how to use wiki syntax, read the manual of style etc. 'spiraldoor out' —Spiraldoor 21:44, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Worlds
Hi all!

We have a substantial problem as concerns the worlds in Rayman Origins: Ticklish Temples, Grumbling Grottos, Luscious Lakes and Angsty Abyss are basically the very same places as Jibberish Jungle, Desert of Dijiridoos, Gourmand Land and Sea of Serendipity, respectively (Moody Clouds seems quite different from Mystical Pique though). Just like we have awesome articles describing the worlds from the original game, it would be great to do the same for Rayman Origins, but the fact that some worlds are actually split in two makes the whole thing harder. Should we have only one article for each pair? Or should we have the same article (almost) twice? Any other ideas in mind? — 00:27, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

‘Rayman poisoning your life? I've got the antidote.’ — the general

The general, also known as the Grolgoth Salesman, is an unnamed minor character who appears in Rayman 2: The Great Escape and is seen only once for a short cutscene near the end of the game. He has purple skin, a uniform with several badges pinned to it, and wears a hat which hides his eyes. He is limbless, and appears to be of the same species as Rayman and the other characters from the original Rayman game. He is notable for also appearing in another Ubisoft game released around the same time as Rayman 2, a game with which Rayman creator Michel Ancel was also involved: Tonic Trouble.

In Rayman 2: The Great Escape, the general arrives on The Buccaneer in a small flying vehicle. He is referred to as ‘a very special guest’. He attempts to sell a machine called the Grolgoth to Admiral Razorbeard so that he can destroy Rayman, telling Razorbeard to ‘Decide quickly – I have other clients waiting’. Razorbeard gives the general a massive pirate's chest full of gold and dismisses him. The Grolgoth he sold goes on to become the final boss of the game.

In the PC version of Tonic Trouble, the general appears in the intro cutscene. He instructs the protagonist Ed regarding his objectives in the game before a court at which he is being reprimanded for spilling the titular tonic.

An image of the general was shown in a promotional video for the now-cancelled 2D version of Rayman 2, along with other characters such as the ‘pre-Henchman 800’ and Betilla the Fairy. This suggests that the general may have had a larger role at some point in the game's development.

Rayman Junior (also known as Rayman Brain Games in the United States, כיף ללמוד עם ריימן in Israel, Rayman Uczy Matmy i Polaka in Poland and Maths & English with Rayman in other regions) is an educational video game based on Rayman that was designed to teach children aged 6-8 years old the basics of mathematics and literacy. Many variations of the game are known to have been released for MS-DOS starting from 1996, with the Sony PlayStation version being released in 2000.

Gameplay
The gameplay in Rayman Junior is somewhat simplified specially for the young player. The number of levels in the game has been reduced to just twelve, two per world, and each one covers an educational topic, such as phonics, adding and subtracting, number recognition etc. The questions asked come in three difficulties, which may or may not be selectable depending on the version.

Each level starts with the Magician giving Rayman an overview on what he has to do. Then the player will see the Magician's hat at various points of the level where he asks the player a question when you walk past it. The player then has three paths to choose from, the right path being the right answer to the question. A life is lost if the wrong path is taken. After the level is completed, the player is then sent to a bonus stage and given a time limit in which he or she must complete whatever challenge the Magician has now set for him or her. Once all of these levels are cleared, Rayman can then have access to Mr Dark's hideout.

The game contains a new world map, and, separately from the main levels, there is an extra one called Betilla's Garden, which the player may use to practice. This is the first time in which Betilla the Fairy speaks English. It also has a new title theme, and the level music is extended.

Other names in different regions
Rayman Junior is known as Rayman Brain Games in the USA. The UK version has three difficulty levels split across three separate games. Rayman Brain Games has all the difficulty levels in one game.
The US release Amazing Learning Games with Rayman, known as Maths and English with Rayman in the UK, has all three difficulty levels on a single game. Maths and English with Rayman just separates them into three games like Rayman Junior. The difficulty levels indicate the volume number, for instance Volume 1 is level 1 and so on. However, Ubi Soft re-released Amazing Learning Games with Rayman as Rayman Learning Center in the "Rayman Junior Setup", Vol. 1-3.<BR>
The Israeli release, כיף ללמוד עם ריימן ('Kef Lilmod Im Rayman', which means 'fun to learn with Rayman'), by Hed-Arzi (a big Israeli multimedia products importer and disributor) was the first release of Rayman that was fully translated to Hebrew (Interface and Dubbing).

Glitches
1. When the demos play on Rayman Brain Games (RBS version), they don't play Rayman's 2D theme music, but on Amazing Learning Games with Rayman (ALGR version), it does play.

2. On rising tides, the music for butterweed bog plays (RBS version).

3. On both versions, the music for tasty chase is heard in Mr Dark's lair. The music that is really supposed to be playing on this level is that from the final battle against Space Mama.

These are known glitches for both Rayman Brain Games and Amazing Learning Games with Rayman. It is unknown whether these exist in Maths and English with Rayman and Rayman Junior.

Plot
“Happiness abounds in Rayman's world. The sun shines brightly, the plants are green and the clear water of the river bubbles and sings merrily as it flows.

Deep in the forest, the Wizard's cottage is peaceful and sheltered. There, he and Betilla the Fairy spend time enjoying their idyllic world and protecting the Wizard's Magic Book of Knowledge. The Wizard, a very scholarly and philosophical person, has put all the secrets of wisdom and knowledge in this book; the secrets that keep the world happy and beautiful.

But one day, the evil Mister Dark breaks into the Wizard's cottage, destroying everything in his wake, and steals the Book of Knowledge and the map to this secret hideout that Rayman gave to the Wizard! Now the world will be at the mercy of the evil Mr Dark! So the Wizard and Betilla call for the one person who can save the world and return it to its former happiness and beauty. They call for Rayman!!!

Only this superhero, who has proven his courage time and again, can save the world from such a grave situation. It will be a long and difficult journey, but Rayman is strong and clever, and prepared to face the challenges ahead. Each time Rayman successfully completes a challenge, he gets a piece of parchment which, when matched with all the other pieces he obtains along the way, forms the map that will show the way to Mister Dark's hideout. Once the map is pieced together, a final test will give Rayman the chance to retrieve the Magic Book of Knowledge from the evil Mister Dark, and fill his world with happiness and beauty again.

Good luck Rayman!!!!!”

The Dinosaur is an invincible enemy from Rayman 2: The Great Escape and its remakes, Rayman 2: Revolution and Rayman DS. It goes un-named in all versions but the PS version.

Description
The Dinosaur is a giant, remote-controlled robot with a head resembling that of a Teensie's, along with two raptor-like legs. It tends to hop a lot like a kangaroo and makes noises almost like a chicken.

The Dinosaur was used by Admiral Razorbeard's Lackey to patrol the Reformatory for Disturbing Children in the Iron Mountains. If anything escaped, it would persistently chase down the escapee.

Role in the Games
The Dinosaur doesn't appear until the grand finale of the Iron Mountains. It is dangerous for Rayman to approach, but otherwise helpful: its jumping makes a crate bounce just high enough for Rayman to enter the Reformatory. Similarly, a crate bounces inside the Reformatory; this allows Rayman to reach the Reformatory's roof.

However, once Rayman reaches the roof the Dinosaur's role is another story completely. After Rayman releases Globox's children from the Reformatory, the Dinosaur is quick to react. Rayman must speedily zip by the incoming Dinosaur on a Shell or risk being flattened. However, it is still useful for the player, because it can hurl big stones into the air or crush them, revealing Yellow Lums underneith.

The exception to the rule is the PS version of Rayman 2, in which Razorbeard's lackey has forgotten to put fuel in the Dinosaur's tank, rendering the Dinosaur useless.
Also,in the 2D beta version of Rayman 2, Rayman could jump on a mechanical dinosaur and ride it, and he could also smash its head and turn it into a platform.

Michel Ancel is a French video game designer and the creator of Rayman. He did not contribute to Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, however. He continued designing Rayman games with Rayman Raving Rabbids.

Video Game Designing Career
Ancel's first title, Mechanic Warriors, was developed for software house Lankhor. Ancel then joined Ubisoft as a graphic artist at the age of 17, where he worked on the graphics of games such as The Intruder and The Teller. In 1992, he began to work on Rayman, his directorial debut. It was originally released in 1995 for the Atari Jaguar, then in 1996 for PlayStation and Sega Saturn.

Ancel was also heavily involved in the development of Rayman 2: The Great Escape, but had only an advisory role on Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. Although he praised its development team, he says that the game is "a bit too concrete for my tastes", and that he would have "made the game differently".

In 2003, he created Beyond Good & Evil, which garnered critical acclaim and a cult following, but was a commercial failure. However, film director Peter Jackson's admiration of the game — and his frustration with EA's handling of the The Lord of the Rings license — led to Ancel being given direction of the King Kong video game adaptation. In spite of Ubisoft's reluctance to produce a Beyond Good & Evil sequel, Ancel has expressed a clear wish to produce one in the future.

On April 5, 2006, Ubisoft announced Ancel was leading the development of the fourth game in the Rayman series, Rayman Raving Rabbids, for the Nintendo Wii. The game began production in early 2005 and was released on November 15, 2006 for the launch of the Wii. However, Ancel was notably absent from the project after its E3 announcement, and he has made no public appearances regarding the game after the development team switched focus from a free-roaming platformer to the final minigames format shortly after E3. In the final game, Ancel was only credited with storyboarding and character design, while design credits were shared between multiple other people.

In a recent interview by Nintendo Power, Ancel confirmed that he is working on a new project that means a lot to him. He also talks about Jade from Beyond Good & Evil and says "I really hope that Jade will continue to keep her values and her personality". Ubisoft's CEO, Yves Guillemot, has confirmed that Michel Ancel is currently working on several unannounced projects, as of March 2008.

In a recent interview with French video game magazine JVM (for Jeux Vidéo Magazine), Ancel stated that a sequel to Beyond Good & Evil has been in pre-production by a small team for about a year, but they still await Ubisoft's approval before moving into full production.

On December 18, 2008, at the VGL event in Paris, Ancel stated that the game has been under development for a year and a half and that the development team have received total freedom from Ubisoft, giving them the opportunity to make the game how they want.

On August 2009, shortly after GamesCom, Ubisoft has officially put Beyond Good & Evil 2 on hold, with the future of the game uncertain.

Rayman: Hoodlums' Revenge is a spin-off isometric platform game based on Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc that was released exclusively for the Game Boy Advance in 2005. It is the first and only game (as of 2009) in the Rayman series to be played from an isometric viewpoint in what appears to be a 2D environment, while using 3D sprites.

Plot
Taking place supposedly a short while after the events in Rayman 3, Globox's body is once again invaded by André the Black Lum while Rayman is asleep, and now they have to search for each other. Meanwhile, the Hoodlums have been ordered to clone the body of Reflux and once again attempt to take over the Crossroads of Dreams.

Gameplay
Rayman: Hoodlums' Revenge's gameplay uses some elements from Rayman 3, including the score counter and the Combo-mode, Teensie cages and Laser Washing Powder cans. The difference is that Lums, namely Yellow, Red, Green and Blue Lums, are collected as well as gems. In each level, there is a certain number of cages and Yellow Lums to collect and they are counted down; the more the player collects and the higher he or she scores, the more likely he or she is to gain up to three Murfy Stamps, which are needed to unlock bonus levels.

In a few levels, Globox is a playable character, though he cannot fight the same way as Rayman, or go near the Hoodlums (because he is afraid of them, he will automatically run a short distance away from), unless he drinks a keg of plum juice, which will send him in a trance and have the confidence to attack enemies. Sometimes Rayman and Globox can be played in the same level, though the player will have to switch characters for the right tasks, and the level cannot be exited unless both characters meet each other at the exit.

*Mélée Mayhem
*Reflux's Lair

Trivia
* On the American boxart of the game, there is a typo in which the apostrophe is placed between the word "Hoodlum" and the letter S, making the subtitle seem as if there is only one Hoodlum rather than a group of them.
Rocket-Maracas are music instruments found in Band Land. When Rayman jumps onto them, they ignite and expel their handle, and then start rising. It is possible to drive them by placing Rayman on the left or right edges. If the rocket-maraca is stuck, it will burst after a few seconds, which can be dangerous.

There is also another type of maraca, which does not ignite but only amortize Rayman's jump, slightly going down and then returning to its original position. It's usually safer not to stay on them, as they're often placed above wrong notes.
You can simply do this by adding in the end of the page "Category:(insert category name here)" in double square bracket.
