The Rabbids' ships were inspired by the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tripod_(The_War_of_the_Worlds) Martian tripod] from H.G. Wells's classic science fiction novel, [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_War_of_the_Worlds ''The War of the Worlds'']. This is confirmed by leftover file names found on the ''[[Rayman Raving Rabbids]]'' disc. The same machines were also the inspiration behind [[Céloche]], a boss in ''[[Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc\|Rayman 3]]''. The Rabbids' ships also bear a strong resemblance to [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HAL_9000 HAL 9000], the homicical computer in Stanley Kubrick's [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001:_A_Space_Odyssey_(film) ''2001: A Space Odyssey''].
