I think that he has something to do with Umber's different appearance. Perhaps Rocky was the original Guardian of the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire, and was replaced by Umber when someone defeated him by sticking a bucket on his head or something like that. I've pointed out in the article that there are some possible connections, but I refrained from including any actual theories.
