Love for Rayman?

I'm pretty sure that the hearts that appear represent the electoons showing love for each other. When two electoons come close together after being freed, they seem to pair up, and that's when the heart appears. --Plumgmk 15:42, 2 August 2012 (CEST)

I only remind the heart appearing when they walk in Rayman's direction. (It has been a while, Plum!) --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 16:46, 2 August 2012 (CEST)
Sorry to crush your lesbian Electoon theory, but the hearts appear only when they're looking at Rayman. It's been a while for me too, but I think they even raise their eyes to look straight at him. —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 19:25, 2 August 2012 (CEST)
They do look to Rayman. I'm sure it is the only situation they show a heart. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 20:00, 2 August 2012 (CEST)
"Lesbian Electoon theory", oh God my sides --iHeckler9Life.gif 22:22, 2 August 2012 (CEST)
My theory was not that they were lesbian, but that there are both male and female electoons. --Plumgmk 13:53, 4 August 2012 (CEST)

To take up this ancient discussion once again, the assertion here that they are all female still seems to be based on speculation. Furthermore, the French wiki makes no such assertion: the infobox there says they are either male or female. Which is right? Plumgmk (talk) 11:43, 19 May 2019 (CEST)

As far as I'm concerned, I'm not aware of any indication that they are all female. Antitoons have ponytails too (it was the nineties), and not everything pink is female, thank god. Though we might want to consult our Rayman scholar boomboleros7 just in case. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 19:42, 20 May 2019 (CEST)
Sorry for the late reply, the "Rayman scholar" didn't saw this discussion. ^^
So, about our friends the Electoons...
First of all, the sex of the members of that species has been never defined clearly.
So what could we use to answer that question?
The body?
Hunch said everything, ponytail is also a male hairstyle and pink isn't for women only. Same thing for long blond hair.
The hearts in R1?
It's true that they look Rayman with a heart above them if he stays next to them.
Yeah but I think these hearts represent their joy to be free again and/or their thankfulness to Rayman, not love.
Speaking of that, I think that the hearts given by the Teensie Kings and Queens in RL is a reference to the hearts of the Electoons in R1. It's also a way to tell their thankfulness to Rayman and the other heroes, of course.
Anyway...
The voice?
It's hard to say who voiced the Electoons in R1 (could be men and/or women), but we are sure that they are dubbed by a woman in RO and some French educational games.
Yeah but do I have to remember that women are more talented than men to dub young girls AND boys? Or, more appropriately, small female AND male creatures? It isn't a clear proof.
Texts, maybe?
No manual nor dialogue speaks about the Electoons by using singular, they only use plural.
In French grammar, there are some ways to speak about a group only composed by women, by using "elles" instead of "ils" ("they") or by adding "-es" or "-ées" instead of "-s" or"-és" at the end of a word. But to speak about a group composed by men and women, EVEN if there is only one man, we must use masculine terms.
In some French dialogues in RO, we can read "Seuls les Electoons...", "Chaque Electoon sauvé..." and "Les Electoons, c'est eux qui ont le pouvoir des rêves ! Ils maintiennent l'équilibre du monde !". It seems that there is at least one male Electoon in the Glade of Dreams...
So, to conclude... Electoons don't seem to be all female. Nor all male either.
They seem to be both to me.
Or, if we aren't sure, we can indicate "Unknown" or "Asexual" in the "Sex" line of their template. --Boomboleros7 01:33, 5 June 2019 (CEST)
All right, I've made some changes to the article, please let me know what you guys think. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 14:17, 5 June 2019 (CEST)
Looks good to me! Also it's good to be vindicated after all these years, even if I was wrong about their pairing up… Plumgmk (talk) 22:13, 5 June 2019 (CEST)
