In ''[[Rayman 2]]'', le gabbie hanno due scopi: alcune contengono le creature necessarie per andare avanti, come [[Ssssam]] il serpente, i [[Teen]]s che aprono la [[Spiral Door]]s per [[Rayman]], oppure i or [[Lum viola]] che gli permettono di raggiungere dei posti irraggiungibili. Le altre invece hanno un ruolo relativamente minore: romperle darà a [[Rayman]] quasi sempre dei [[Lum]], e quando viene raggiunto un determinato numero di gabbie distrutte, aumentano la salute di [[Rayman]].

Al contrario [[Rayman 1|del primo gioco]], è possibile finire il gioco senza liberare tutte le gabbie. In questo gioco le gabbie sono più piccole, e generalmente sono attaccate al soffitto o a dei pali. Se si è vicini ad una gabbia, i lamenti del prigioniero possono essere sentiti. Un altra differenza con [[Rayman 1|il primo gioco]] è che le gabbie non appaiono più toccando certe aree della mappa, nonostante alcune siano nascoste, o messe in modo tale che [[Rayman]] può raggiungerle soltanto dopo aver ricevuto determinati poteri.

In queste versioni sono presenti 80 gabbie. Ogni 10 gabbie liberate aumentano e rigenerano la barra della salute di [[Rayman]]. Le gabbie che non contengono creature di solito contengono o dei [[Lum giallo|Lum gialli]], o dei [[Super Lum giallo|Super Lum gialli]], o molto raramente dei [[Lum rosso|Lum rosso]]. Di conseguenza, è impossibile ottenere tutti i [[Lum]] del gioco senza trovare tutte le gabbie.

In ''[[Rayman Revolution]]'', the cages contain [[Familiar Spirit]]s - a total of 80 in the game. Instead of automatically extending [[Rayman]]'s life bar, every 10 [[Familiar Spirit|spirits]] released unlock another one of [[Ly's Challenges]]. Only completing the challenge will extend [[Rayman]]'s life. Like the PlayStation version, ''[[Rayman Revolution|Revolution]]'' also includes special creatures in cages that do not count towards the total.
