Hence, 5 ('V') became two index symbols inclined in opposite directions and joined in the middle, approximated by a superscripted 'M', and 10 ('X') became two crossed index symbols. < admits a superscripted hexagram was kind of lazy, but now that < has explained it it should make sense, right? …right?
