I Own the PS1 version on PSN, alongside the GBA port, and I'm thinking about grabbing the Saturn version since I've heard it's one of the best versions of the game, But what exactly differs between the PS1 and Saturn versions?

The PS1 and Saturn versions are identical in terms of level design, you'll be playing through the same game. The differences are more to do with what you see and hear, the Saturn version uses different backgrounds for some levels, and the sound effects are of a higher pitch.

Well that's strange, considering I've heard people hail the Saturn version as the definitive version. Thanks for the explanation.

The level design and physics are actually slightly different (the level design in a bad way and the physics in a good way), but, in reality, it's quite similar to the PS1 version, having some graphical improvements, but overall being a less polished experience (the sound in particular). Really, there's no reason to pick it up unless you just want to explore the different ports of the game if you already have the PS1 version.

I'm TASing with scrimpy "as he's basically the R1 TAS Guru."
I was referring mainly to implementing different pieces of tech, as fuerchter probably has more knowledge of the aforementioned at this point given how optimized the realtime run has gotten.

I can confirm there are no glitches on my own real PS1.

Is your disc clean?

Looks slightly scratched and also on segment 4 of pink plant woods the music stopped and after the playstation logo it shows a line and some glitched mess for a split second and sometimes it takes a long time to load the disc on startup

Did you open the lid while the game was running? The PS1 probably gave up reading the music.

That 30+ sec wait and the white line is completely normal. Happens with my copy too.

Didn’t know you had the 2000 copy.

My 1995 black label copy (yellow disc) experiences those issues too.

Did your PS1 “click” when it stopped? The laser probably lost focus.

I'm now a man.

I've been trying to beat this level for around a year now and somehow, miraculously, I managed to beat it despite my awful choking at the end (I actually got to the final stretch with only somewhere around five deaths). If I'm feeling crazy enough, I might actually try to do a deathless run and beat Jaxxckle's time.
