Maybe if you're always the one to call them, they'll continue to expect you to be the one to call them? It's sort of like how my mother had always done the laundry, she one day a couple years got so pissed and had this raging breakdown that I never went and did it on my own - well I'm just respecting the routine that's been established. For one, it sounds very childish, since once you're older, people typically do other things than simply "play" together.
