Just kidding!
Enough discussion. What’s the brand and model of your camera?

Well if that's the case, then do you know if there's a way round this? Or some sort of solutionFifo wrote:Um, I don’t see a mic port at all in the pucture.rolesfamily wrote:Right thank you

Re: Off Topic
Thanks for looking Fifo.
I'm now thinking of getting a microphone, like a lapel one that actually projects your voice as you speak, rather than just internally.
Or I might just get a megaphone. That'd be funnier.

What I've always done (since I've lacked a decent camera myself) if record the audio separately. In my case, an SM58 plugged into a usb sound card, plugged into a macbook running Logic Pro, but I'm sure Garageband would work just as well.
It's always resulted in far superior sound to the cameras' built in mic, and works surprisingly well. And as long as you have good sound cues it's really easy to edit together with the video.

Re: Off Topic
That's a good point actually. I haven't properly looked into that. I'm a little bit nervous about syncing up the audio & the video, especially with a lot of cuts. That might be a solution, thanks.
Re: Off Topic
Well the trick is to state the scene and take number, and obviously start a new audio recording with each new video recording, and if you can be bothered, labelling each region as you go helps too.
If you have a clapperboard this does the trick perfectly, since it also has the quick snap which makes syncing a dream
And if you've got a long take that will have lots of cuts in it, first sync the audio with the video (remember to mute the camera's audio first) and export it into a new file, then use this one for editing. This may all seem obvious but sometimes it's easy to overlook the simplest things.

Re: Off Topic
Remember to have both audio and what the video expects as input audio at the same bitrate! Mismatching bitrates of for example 41kHz and 44kHz may sound alright, but will lead to synching nightmares the longer the video drags on for.
Re: Off Topic
Oops yeah that's incredibly important also. Like I said, simple things

(If you're confused about that, just look up 'audio video desynch bitrate mismatch' and I'm pretty sure you'll find what I'm talking about straight away.)

Wow, I've got a lot of things to Google now! Haha thanks very much you guys. I've read that if you clap 3 times at the start of a recording so both your external mic & video camera picks up the claps; then you can easily sync the big spike lines in the post production.
Thanks for the tips
Any other suggestions are welcome too haha, you might even get 15 tings!! Okay maybe not.. - But you'll get a whole lotta' love!

Re: Off Topic
Oui, stuff like clapping will do. Something easy and recognisable of which you know what timing it needs.
At the start of screen recordings on my computer, I always begin with minimising my recording software and audibly saying 'click' right as I click the button to hide the windows.
