Yeah, I heard about this from my dad earlier this evening, but it's entirely different to read the article firsthand. Even while it is technically hearing it from someone else still, it really gives a feeling for the whole thing, a very nasty one.

I didn't reply immediately because what's to say? It's absoutely awful, the stuff of nightmares. And now a Parisian policewoman has been killed by a gunman... they don't think it's directly linked to the Charlie Hebdo massacre, but god it must be quite scary to be in Paris right now.
The march in Paris yesterday evening was beautiful, though.

I heard about it yesterday morning in my way to school. As an artist, I do feel frustrated. And it is horrible how we still experience conflicts of freedom of expression in XXI century. My great condolences go to the families of the victims.

"The deadliest attack on France since 1961"? I guess you really don't hear about France and terrorists a whole lot.
Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
Wow. 100 pages of frustration, pain, and everything else. It's just weird to think of it.

What really bothers me right now is, when you go to school in the early morning and you find out that your lessons got cancelled until 2pm -.-
And going to school takes almost an hour for me, which means I just wasted 2 hours -__- .....

I get that. Aren't there things you can do there to entertain yourself - hang out with friends, use the computers available to do fun stuff, sit outside, go for a walk...?
Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
Well that is true though, it is indeed the deadliest terrorist attack we've had since '61.Adsolution wrote:"The deadliest attack on France since 1961"? I guess you really don't hear about France and terrorists a whole lot.

And now the suspects are barricated in Dammartin-en-Goêle. All accesses there were cut and nobody can leave school or home until this is sorted.

They say it could take days...
those poor children. I think they're trying to negotiate an evacuation?
There's also been a hostage-taking in Paris, a Jewish shop.
Right, two now dead in the latter case.

Yes, it is in a Jewish supermarket. This situation stresses me a lot even though I'm not in Paris.
Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
I would have liked to talk about this a little bit earlier, but due to me being in a place where I don't have an Internet connection yet, I wasn't able to do so.
I gotta go now too, so I'll try to answer about that a bit later this evening (probably around midnight, in fact...). In the meantime, I still wrote a few lines about it in the +/- thread.
See you later.

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
Actually, I've got some mysterious bites on the back of my neck. At first I thought they were spots but they're so darn itchy when it's hot.

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
I'm not so much bothered but deeply moved by the global rallies in support of the Parisian victims. All those pencils.
Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
It's interesting the way the British media reacts to cases like this. Tiptoeing around the silent elephant in the room that is the religious context in which these acts were motivated.
Yet, it is so quick to laugh about fat politicians and beer-drinking job seekers, and things...
Well, I guess I have a right to moan in this thread. xD

You do XD
Has it tiptoed around? I think more examination of Charlie Hebdo and the Kouachi's backgrounds will take place in the next few weeks, but I've already seen quite a few articles on the Islamist element. Do I just have better taste in news?
Granted, today it's almost entirely 'peace and love and free speech'.

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
It's not so much Islam or even extremist Islam for that matter, it's the way it tackles religious beliefs in general. It acts like the popular school joker in the class, when he's confronted alone by the teacher.
