Re: Rayman 1
Rayman 1's art style already struck me as quite painterly, so it would be the perfect evolution. I think that a heavier, more intense 'oil paint' style suits it better than the 'watercolour' look of Child of Light and pals. But I don't see a remake of R1 happening any time soon, if ever, which is a real shame.
Re: Rayman 1
Can someone give me a 100% save of Rayman to use with SSF?
Re: Rayman 1
I fear nobody completed the game in the SSF, unless someone proves me wrong.

Raymanni also completed it on SSF way before me.
Re: Rayman 1
So, does anyone have a save file?

Re: Rayman 1
Maybe the indie team that Ancel was setting up that had 10+ other game devs in it that we learned about a couple of months back? Or do you believe it's Ancel himself whose vision on Rayman you no longer appreciate as much? I know I mentioned this myself earlier, but that was grounded on the idea that he was 'the prime creative director' so he must be the one that was pushing the series in the direction it's going in now, but perhaps that was rash of me.Drolpiraat wrote:After the last two Rayman games, I'm just not really that excited to see where they'll bring Rayman next anymore. Perhaps it would even be better to let another team handle the next Rayman games.

Ten whole Tings?? Fifo, oh generous lord of fortunes! Bless us with your riches!
Re: Rayman 1
If I remember correctly, the team that made Rayman 2 great moved on to make Beyond Good & Evil. They likely spent the past decade making BG&E2 and helping for other projects. It seems to be largely the other part of Ubisoft Montpellier that worked on the Rayman games from RRR on. From the various interviews I've seen, Ancel seems to allow his team to have a lot of creative input, so it wouldn't be a surprise to me if the direction that the series is headed in can be attributed to some specific team members. However, Ancel himself is still to blame for consenting with that direction, if he didn't come up with it himself.Shrooblord wrote:Maybe the indie team that Ancel was setting up that had 10+ other game devs in it that we learned about a couple of months back? Another possibility is that as you say, he pushed for this direction himself. Nowadays, he seems to consider Rayman as a side project to BG&E2 (he said something like "our vacation is over" after RL), so perhaps he is just putting all of his weird ideas into the Rayman series, and his good world/story ideas into BG&E2 (I tend to merge all my good ideas into Dreambound too). He does need to fill that enormous universe they keep talking about. If that's the case, perhaps things will get better after BG&E2 comes out.
I agree - the colours in a watercolour painting tend to look 'watered down'. Rayman's art style is all about vibrant colours, so oil paint suits it much better.Jewish Candy wrote:Rayman 1's art style already struck me as quite painterly, so it would be the perfect evolution.
