Re: The Video Game Recommendation Thread
Can anyone recommend some good Game Boy/Game Boy Color games?
I have pokemon red+blue, rayman 1+2, super mario land 1+2 and metroid 2 so far, looking for just some fun games that don't take tremendous amounts of time (looking at you, pokemon)

Kirby's Dreamland. That's a really good one and short. It's one of my favorite games on the system and was my first Game Boy game.
Re: The Video Game Recommendation Thread
You can try Megaman II, it's the only one of the five that is not a chore to get through.
Re: The Video Game Recommendation Thread
Looking for dreamcast games, pretty much any genre, probably not so much sports, although I'm open to trying new things! Must be PAL though... :)

Re: The Video Game Recommendation Thread
So, I thought I'd given up horror games since my nightmare about FNaF, but now I. want to try out a game called Fatal Frame.
See, while I was looking at a video about Japanese monsters and demons (trying to find out which ones Lord Frieza was based off of) the video was playing a song in the background called Chou from the Fatal Frame 2 OST; and I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT!
It made me feel like, if I played the game, I would cry near the end like I did with Naomi's realization from Corpse Party when Seiko was texting her from the dead; I consider any fandom that can make me cry a great fandom.
Trouble is I don't know if I need to play Fatal Frame 1 to make Fatal Frame 2 mame sense. What do you guys recommend?

Please explain this nightmare to me so that I may explain to you why it's incorrect.MisterDark'sFanClub wrote:So, I thought I'd given up horror games since my nightmare about FNaF

Re: The Video Game Recommendation Thread
@ Adsolution: I honestly can't remember most of it; all I remember is that, if you tried to escape, giant Kraken-like tentacles came out from, like, the 11th floor and pulled you back in. * getting uncomfortable glares from the audience*
Ahem... I don't remember if it was that part of the dream or something else, but I know at some point of the dream I promised God I'd never have any connection to FNaF ever again (I even forced myself not to watch Markiplier's FNaF2 Animated); and a promise is a promise.
Then, gradually, I just laid off horror games.

Re: The Video Game Recommendation Thread
I've come to the conclusion that the fear people experience from FNAF doesn't originate from it being legitimately scary, rather, from cognitive dissonance surmising that the game must be scary if it contains horror elements and is providing you with an eldritch experience, when the only uncanny thing about the game is how some human managed to, with such totality, fail to effect that which is scary.

Re: The Video Game Recommendation Thread
It's awesome that you cleared that up for me; I actually once walked around in circles trying to understand what was so scary about FNaF.Adsolution wrote:I've come to the conclusion that the fear people experience from FNAF doesn't originate from it being legitimately scary, rather, from cognitive dissonance surmising that the game must be scary if it contains horror elements and is providing you with an eldritch experience, when the only uncanny thing about the game is how some human managed to, with such totality, fail to effect that which is scary.
But, like I said, a promise is a promise.

If a promise has been made to no longer play FNAF, I can only agree.

Thanks for understanding, Ad!
Now... who hear can clear my mind about Fatal Frame?

Re: The Video Game Recommendation Thread
I've already said this before, but jump scares isn't even what you could categorise as horror imo. I know the whole "but the feeling of dread cause you know its coming!", but then you should go play PT, which does it a million times better while also doing some great mindfuckery along the way.
