That's because it's already beaten. You can't access it again after the game was beaten. That's also with all other versions ...(not sure about the jaguar though...)
Weird, I didn't know that.
But I do know that, like with the DSi version, the GBA version allows the player to replay Mr Dark's Dare. I'm not sure if it replays the actual end boss fight, though. I never went that far in replays of that level.

Fine, it's not a flaw, it was a design choice. A dumb one.

Hi, guys! I have a quick doubt. I've just beaten Mr. Skops. This is when I have to collect all the cages to access Candy Chateau, right? Lol that means replying the whole game because I don't have all the cages in any level at all. #fail

Yes TK. You need to go back and free all the Electoons. Serves you right for abandoning such poor, helpless little creatures! Go rescue them now, you quasi-hero! :P

Rayman 1 and 2? Best games in the universe?

I believe you should do an effort to accept more the opinions of the others, not to mention to use smaller images.

That's the fatal flaw in Rayman 2, beside the hand holding. There is no replay value. After you beat the game, the levels become barren and boring.
Adsolution wrote:Well, that's not really a flaw, that's just how the game was designed. I don't really know what they could have done to change that aside from changing the core gameplay itself.
+1

@Brad I would like you to explain then why in all these years I've lost my count of how many times I 100% Rayman 2 and not getting enough of it. Sure, the bosses could be replayed but Shroob's point has got some logic. I really don't think it harms the game as much as you are giving the impression. Fatal? Yes, right.

Everytime I read your posts lately concerning the old games, I start to believe more that you want to force people to like Rayman Origins rather than accepting the points of view of others by proving from point A to point B that RO is the best game, just because. I'm sorry to tell you this. Don't get me started on game preferences because I respect people's opinions as long they justify them properly. I don't have nothing else to add, just interpret this as an observation.

@Shroob Is it me or there's something different in your profile today? :P

There is no point in talking about game prefereces when it is wel known that Rayman 1 is clearly the most superior Rayman game ever created 8)

Mm, I originally thought that the damage-while-crawling animation wasn't in the PlayStation version of the game, but apparently it is in certain areas:

This, as well as other things like the physics being a bit different and certain glitches being exclusive to this version, lead me to believe that the PlayStation version (at least the US release) was probably released in a semi-unfinished state, and a newer revision was used for the other ports of the game.

Oh, I knew that animation.

From what I remember, the Sony port was kind of a last hour port because Ubisoft originally wanted to release the game for the Atari Jaguar after the canceling of the SNES game but in the meantime they got the PlayStation development kit and decided taking the risk since for the PlayStation release list there was no competition for Rayman inside its genre. The result was being in the Top 10 most sold Playstation games for 6 followed years only in United Kingdom!

Don't forget how under-featured the Jaguar version ended up being though.

The console was a commercial failure, not to mention that programmers complained how difficult it was to work with its CPU. It didn't take too many time to retire from the market. On the other hand, the differences included in that version are pretty interesting like Bad Rayman not existing and the Eraser Plains exclusive level phase with a map.

Well, either case, I kinda like the Jaguar version of Rayman 1. Just feels unique in a way. Plus having a box to go with the cart is awesome too. :)

Weirdly, in the PC version of Rayman, it seems like you're intended to take one hit of damage at the start of the fight (or the smaller screen size caused it and her programming wasn't ever modified to fix the issue) due to Space Mama walking forward to the point where she actually ambushes you in a corner if you do it normally. However, there are a few frames where you can hit her and she won't walk forward, and doing that for one of the four hits actually makes it so she can't walk far enough forward to attack you.

So, after about 30 minutes of sheer torture, and another 10 after accidentally closing the game and getting back to where I was, I found a fairly painless strategy of estimating the timing for those few frames by doing a quick jump-helicopter, followed by another jump where you throw out your fist as Rayman is falling:

It still makes no sense why you can't just do it normally, though. :P

Maybe it was intentional and this is another thing they threw in, like the so-called Impossible Jump! :P Nice find.

@Tech Very good video! I believe I only managed to do 2 hits in the same spot, never 4!

With my new PC I was able to upscale the Rayman Ubisoft logo to make it look HD-ish.
Bellow is a link to where I uploaded the pic.
