Man, I missed having Rayman 3's music. I love its funkish sound. So dirty and raw, but damn is it good.

Hey guys, I've got a question about the Knaaren - I keep reading everywhere (RayWiki, mainly) that they hate sunlight, but I can't find any official source for it. So where is everyone getting this from (apart from the fact that they live in tunnels)?

I'd like to know because I have a story around these frescoes in my game and I still want to stick as close as possible to the canon:

Now that you mention that, I wonder about the source. I also had this in mind but I cannot tell if it is canon or not.

There's some stuff on the Wiki that I do feel it a little too speculative, perhaps I might have to go on a purge run when I'm finished with the year. Though I do have plenty I want to do on the Wiki anyways.

They worship the "Bringer of Night", but that doesn't really mean anything.

The relation between that first and last fresco is interesting, actually. It seems to tell the story of the Knaaren taking the Teensies away from the lands, putting the land under the care of local 'cattle' and keeping the Teensies in theirs as prisoners, slaves? But then they gather en masse before their deity and next we see them releasing the Teensies, with many of the same gestures as they had with the cattle before. Did the Knaaren have a change of heart about their slave labour? Did they only capture the Teensies and keep them bound for a short while on purpose, because the Teensies were ruining the lands and they had to be stopped, to restore health to the planet before listening to their god when it told them it was time for the Teensies to be released once more?

Are the Knaaren really the guardians of the planet, only to be earthbound when they are needed, resting/living beneath when they are not?

I like that. I like anything that puts the Knaaren in something other than a bad light. But I suspect it is the opposite: that the Knaaren overgrazed the Teensies' lands and, in order to right the ecosystem, were commanded to let the Teensies free.

As long as those frescoes are in the right order, of course.

Does anyone know who created the knareens? Most of us know that Michel would've made rayman 3 entirely different to the final product, but were the knareens michel's idea? Surely he had a tiny bit of input or maybe suggested things for rayman 2 that were cut, then someone decided to incorporate them into 3? The knareens could make a great main antagonist for rayman 4, with the tech now, VR, 3D and all that, we could make some very scary knareens.

Maybe rayman 4 could be called RAYMAN : Cave of Knareens

I'd be game for a Metroidvania Rayman, but exclusive caving doesn't seem apt.

Considering all the creative backstory went into these games I'm surprised that Michel doesn't have a personal Rayman blog or something to answer questions like this. You guys should see what the creators of The Legacy of Kain games are doing these days. One of the designers has his own personal forum where he answers all kinds of fan questions and speculations. It's really awesome and shows how truly ambitious the creators were during the production of those games. Michel may be a busy man on his own, but still...answering a few questions here and there would hurt anyone, now would it?

I already own the GC version of Rayman 3 and I got a GC-GBA cable as well. When I manage to get a GBA as well, I'll be sure to upload some actual footage of this stuff to YouTube. Be warned though that I can only record off-screen footage, but despite this I always make sure to work on the circumstances a little bit in order to record the best quality footage possible.

I could also record off-footage but it is difficult when there is nobody to assist you as a 2nd player.

Welcome aboard Spyro, I've gone and merged your previous two posts. We don't tend to allow double posting unless you're bumping a thread, the edit button is your friend if you find you have more to say.

Heh, funny you should mention Michel and having some communication, we had plans to interview them back in 2011.

Understood and thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I double posted on the Legends topic as well, because I thought that talking to two different persons requires separate posts, but ok, I'll post my stuff in one from now on. :)

As of the interview, as I recall Michel and the dev team was answering questions during their epic Legends stream (ALL THE PIZZA FOR ME xD). Did anyone think about asking them specific lore questions there and then?

We shamefully spammed the chat for some lore details, we didn't get much answers if memory serves.

So those were you guys! I saw the occasional spam question regarding The Magician's identity in Origins. xD
