From what < has heard and partially experienced, it's more that people see it as being 'broken', 'unnatural' or 'robotic' in some way. It's something to be mocked or made the butt of a joke, or just have its existence denied. There's attacks from both the evopsychers (defies natural order) and fundies (not going forth and multiplying).

From what < has heard and partially experienced, it's more that people see it as being 'broken', 'unnatural' or 'robotic' in some way. It's something to be mocked or made the butt of a joke, or just have its existence denied. There's attacks from both the evopsychers (defies natural order) and fundies (not going forth and multiplying).

< supposes so, it must be irritating to be told that you're an idiot constantly, but < wouldn't mind so much, since it's ignorant people saying it, and most people don't seem to care either way, since like < said, it's an inoffensive subject for the most part.

But evolution can of course explain asexuality, since the most important part of evolution, is the ability for genes to mutate between generations, and of course in order for there to be mutations that improve reproduction (as in natural selection), there must also happen things that don't. If asexuality is indeed genetic, then it makes sense that only a small percentage of the population would possess it: Either it was passed down from someone who experimented with sex or simply wanted a child (not necessarily through sex), or it's a first generation mutation.

So that would be <'s response to the so-called evolutionismites. As for the religious fundamentalists they can just go fuck themselves really. < doesn't bother trying to talk sense to any kind of fundamentalist.

Mmm, but it's not like it's 'just' jibes. There is also the issue of corrective rape and other kinds of violence (particularly if you don't belong to the groups asexuals are most commonly portrayed as)... whether that's done by ignorant people or not, it's still done. And the jibes create the environment in which such things are precipitated. But like you say, it shouldn't have to be a big deal. And < sees we've got a bunch here on RPC
