Hmm, these new Bionicle toys look ok, but I can't help but feel that they don't have that Biomechanical aesthetic to 'em.

Totally agree, the new designs seem to try to hide the inner workings that the '01-'03 toys embraced.
I've been looking at some Bionicle MOCs, there are some really inspiring ones out there. If I had the money, will and nous I'd attempt to make a perfect Gali.

I take it the nuvas did nothing for you? :P
My ideal would combine the bareness(?) of the matas with the beef of the nuvas.

Gali is kinda inherently perfect though, you're right

Nah I liked the nuvas for the most part, although I thought gali's was worse than the others, I think it was her mask, it felt too wide. Plus her mata is just badass - dem hooks!

The nuva mask was my favourite bit  I liked its width, in fact its entire design is highly pleasing to me. It makes me think a little bit of a cow, a little bit of a goddess.
Actually, just pop a nuva mask on Gali Mata and that's pretty much what I'm going for. Well, maybe. It might be too large for the mata stature.

EDIT: This beauty will be my wife.

In complete agreement. Funny enough, Gali from 2001 was my very first BIONICLE.

I also think that the new designs of Onua and Pohatu are the worst. Lewa and Gali are ok but the best looking ones are Tahu and Kopaka. This is my opinion though.

Guess who bought Tahu today. (I'm a real kid xD!) I will show a photo once it is built.

I mostly bought it as an eyeblink to LEGO since the purchase comes from an old fan that accompaigned awarely the first years of the franchise, and for the nostalgia factor too. I missed the feeling of buying a new set and building it for the first time. I only don't collect the others because of their price, 22€ per figure is too much.

Well said :mryellow:

Regarding price, seriously LEGO??? What kind of pricing is this? I can imagine this would cost where I live 35-40 EUR if it is in Portugal 22 EUR. Will buy some eventually on eBay then though but not this year probably. Gonna wait for official price drop and good chance.

It bothers me immensely when toys marketed to children are designed to price out children :| Especially when they're also "collect 'em all" series.

Looking at the new sets I don't think I'll be buying any of them now. None of them appeal enough to warrant the price. But I'm going to try to get the misses Gali Mata and Nuva, plus Brian Blessed Pohatu Nuva (best mask) and perhaps my baby Kohrak-Kal again.

So you hate every single toy manufacturer ever, then?

I remember my sister got me Gali mata for my 8th(?) birthday, LEGO gifts were always the most appreciated :)

And such a beaut too :coeur: I know Kopaka's pretty much your fave, do you like him best as mata?

I have a hard time picking my favourite mata, I remember getting each one so fondly, Tahu was the first, I'd only seen one advert on TV at the time so I didn't really know anything about bionicle.

Lewa and Pohatu I got at the same time, and managed to persuade my parents to let me get both despite only having enough pocket money for one. Gali was my birthday, and Onua was... actually I don't remember getting Onua, but I thought his design was cool in it's uniqueness.

Kopaka was the last one I got, and he was just badass plain and simple, although I wasn't particularly fond of his asymmetrical mask at the time.

Haha, yeah, Onua's kanohi is all like "ohhhhh?".

I was introduced to most of my fave toys back in the day by a dear friend of mine. Bionicle was no exception, and she had a Gali Nuva. I can pinpoint where my erroneous belief that the Toa were female came from: it was her explaining to me that Gali was a girl, which I assumed applied to all the giant bionicles! I thought it was some kind of bizarre gender dimorphism. She also had Bohroks I think, and with my pocket money I bought myself a Kohrak-Kal. Loved the hell out of it. Gali for me and Tahu for my sister must have been Christmas presents. Takanuva, probably my birthday. I can't remember how I acquired any others, if indeed there were any...
