A Steam version of Rayman 2?
I do believe there's no such thing, In fact I looked up "Rayman 2 Steam".
Ah, yes, I think when you bought RO in Steam or pre-ordened it you could have as a gift Rayman 2.

Back on track of claps, I remember how frustrating was the final boss of R2 in iOS. I wanted to smash the iPod, seriously, meanwhile I saw Rayman crash while I heard in my mind Brodyquest, and then I pushed the "Home" button of the phone.

Good times.

Which pretty much means that there IS such a thing, it's just quite rare and rather pointless, because the GOG version is superior to it anyway.

iOS was not glitchy at all and was a pretty good port for a handheld device. Same goes for the 3DS port. Still the game is underwhelming.

I still don't get how people think Rayman 3D is decent. Maybe it's just my copy in particular, but all it really did was make me feel bad for people who only had money for one launch game and felt like they made a mistake. I'll deal with it because I fucking love Rayman 2, but a newcomer will probably feel really turned off by it.

I mean, there's a glitch where one specific type of robo-pirate (can't remember which one) will always cause the music to play a certain track, which resulted in me trying to avoid beating them because it ruined the atmosphere. I've already complained about this, but it just comes across so incredibly lazy and just makes you feel a little dead inside when you realise they didn't even bother to fix something so big. That same feeling you get whenever Rayman 3 HD fails to function upon having to perform basic tasks.

At least I got a laugh out of it every now and then: Rayman taking damage when touching a sign, the rain looking like fucking shit, the 3D effect simply not working at all sometimes (also present in Rabbids 3D), etc. I wonder if there's someone out there who played the trilogy with Rayman DSi, Rayman 3D and Rayman 3 HD.

It certainly is disheartening to realize that many people were likely first exposed to the Rayman franchise through one of its many botched ports. So many people who might have enjoyed it have probably written it off already.

Imagine a kid who saved up for months to get his hands on a brand new Nintendo DS with a launch game. Shaking from excitement, he puts the Rayman DS cartridge in for the first time, convinced that an amazing experience is about to ensue...

It is decent. It's probably just your copy. And if it happened in my copy I wouldn't probably care either since the music is a bore and the atmosphere wouldn't be ruined since it's just the gameplay that I would mind if it were to be glitched. Also the 3D effect worked really well and a sign has never hurt when playing this port.

R3D was better than RDS, 3D benefits from having the circle pad, for one thing. And it wasn't as much of a glitchy mess.

But it broke the web in the 1000th Lum room, leading this generation to believe it was a devtest room or some such.

Ah yes, that's very true. Doesn't help that if you do manage to use knockback to reach it, the game stops Rayman from moving.

@Keane I never had the glitch you described. I however remember about how bad the rain looked in the port, and the flickering texture of the blue rings of Rayman's charged energy sphere. The thing that put my really off was how they released a port with textures that were upside down/in mirror/badly placed and made the 1000th Lum area crashing when you go to its alternative exit.

I guess the fact that the lum isn't treated as a regular lum in the game led to some stupid error when they changed some code, and breaking the web was their kludgey way of "fixing" it.

Could be, though somehow I get the feeling that they weren't even aware of the secret in general.

If they noticed an error and wanted to hotch-bodgidly fix it, they'd just have boarded the area up with wooden planks, not break the spider's web but still allowing Ray to get there in the first place.

Well, yeah, that would make sense. But then again, so would not breaking the thing in the first place! :fou2: I guess they might have forgotten/not realised that the only way out is forward though.

Yeah. I think they just forgot that you need to exit at all.

So it did. Makes me wonder actually, did all versions do that, or was it just this one? If it's just the 3DS then it's probable that they were aware of it.

I'm pretty sure it happens with all copies of this port.
