Re: Off Topic
I've come to think most if not all media is brainwashing in some sense. The news decides what people think about other countries, the scientific papers decide which researcher gets to carry out his research (who gets publication, thusly funding), etc..
Re: Off Topic
I'm not debating about the US or Europe or anyone in the west. I'm not debating about whether Putin is better or worse than previous leaders or alternatives. I'm saying that I think Putin is a bad person. That despite whatever he does that's good, he's still a dictator, and that goes against everything I believe in.

Absolutely. There is bias in everything, and media bias is just one of the more obvious forms.Shrooblord wrote:I've come to think most if not all media is brainwashing in some sense. Re: Off Topic
But some of it is just so evil. Who decides what writer is to get the publicity they deserve, the recognition they're supposed to get? Who judges over what is more important for the world to know? Who is the ruler of scientific progress?
At least we'll always have communities like these; gatherings of friends where we can unsuperficially reach out to each other and inform each other (about anything, really) without flood gates standing between us and muting our voices.

Re: Off Topic
Got a question for y'all: my go to free image hoster, minus, seems to have shat itself in every possible way since I last used it. Gimme a safe and friendly alternative plox, don't share pics enough to get an account anywhere...

Dropbox, although you could also use: Picasa, puush, imgur, Flickr, smugmug, 500px...
I can go on and on...

Re: Off Topic
A lot of those require signing up. But eh, imgur might do I guess.
Re: Off Topic
Oh you meant signing up? I thought you just didn't want to pay. What's wrong with signing up, lazy guts?

Re: Off Topic
I'm using imgur nowadays. It adds the ability to sort your images in albums, keep everything private or share stuff and gives you ways of representing your image online; so say you have a 800x600 image (because you're on an ancient monitor and want to upload a screenshot ofc), then you can click a button and get a link you can put up here in IMG tags that will represent it as a 64x32 thumbnail that links to the original-size image if you want.
So far, I'm impressed with it. It's not half the advertisement spamfest that is tinypic (which I've been using happily for five or so years (if not more) up to a couple of months back).
EDIT: I think you don't NEED to sign up to imgur if you don't want. But then how will you keep your images sorted together in private folders?

Re: Off Topic
Never gonna upload anything private, and the fewer things I sign up to, the easier it will be to erase my internet footprint if that becomes necessary. Besides, I don't share stuff much anyway, so I won't really have much to store.

Re: Off Topic
Otherwise there are some alternatives that don't need signing up, like snag.gy or pasteboard

Re: Off Topic
I should think recent posts of mine might hint at some of the reasoning behind that.
Re: Off Topic
I am expected to read everything you write? I refuse on the grounds of my religion.
