That's why I like about the new games better than Rayman 2. It can carry itself with fantastic gameplay and not rely on story. Just pick it up and play. Also, Rayman Origins' intro is still by far the most entertaining cinematic I've laid my eyes upon.CHRdutch wrote:Well... let's just say Rayman Origins story isn't that great. Not likely a direct crossover but I was more thinking true SSB DLC. When leak turned out to be fanmade, Ubisoft said nothing planned "as of now", implying that something probably will be later.Rayfist wrote:Yes, OCG, I'm sure Ubisoft is waiting for the right moment to announce Nintendo and Rayman Crossover.

Though that wouldn't make much sense if Capcom games were involved in the Retro Throwback.

Or it's just a guy who enjoys keeping fans entertained by putting Rayman-related things in other characters' shoes.
Re: Rayman Legends
We must not forget that SSB has Capcom character in it. I know it doesn't have Sir Arthur but who knows? Maybe that retro throwback was a criptic way of hinting Ghosts 'N' Goblins stage or character DLC too.Rayfist wrote:Though that wouldn't make much sense if Capcom games were involved in the Retro Throwback.

Re: Rayman Legends
"as of now" means: WE'RE NOT FUCKING PLANNING IT. Like... "IT'S NOT ON OUR MINDS RIGHT NOW". And not being in their minds right now doesn't mean that at some point it will be. Developers usually don't say "it won't happen" because in business, that's basically closing a door permanently. That's why you hear a lot from third parties "There are no plans for a Wii U version as of now", wondering if the console would turn tables at some point (which is pretty much impossible) and guess what? Nintendo doesn't get any support!OldClassicGamer wrote:Not likely a direct crossover but I was more thinking true SSB DLC. Rayman's just not gonna be in Smash. Sorry for being another sandy Virginia, but we got to face the facts. It's just tiring to try and back this up over and over and over again
Re: Rayman Legends
"As of now" and "we're not fucking planning it" clearly do not have same meaning because the first one by the words chosen does leave possibility for future happening while the second one means it will never ever happen.sergiomonty wrote:"as of now" means: WE'RE NOT FUCKING PLANNING IT. "It's not on our minds right now" means that it might be in future and might not. I never said it must mean 100% they plan something in future but it does not either mean that they don't which you try to make it look like. You are right that developers use these type of wording a lot but then again, who would want to close a door permanently? There is always a chance and most of the time when developer says something like that, they end up doing it in future.
For example, when Capcom dev was asked about Legends 3 cancellaton if they will ever finish game, response was: "No, I am afraid not." This answer is clear that there will never be a chance to see game made, at least not by Capcom. Nobody said anything on this way with Rayman so your bullshit theory how "this means that" is not really correct.
What facts? Show me when Ubisoft or Sakurai said: "Rayman will never be in any Smash Bros game, not now, not ever."Bradandez wrote:Rayman's just not gonna be in Smash. Because if that wasn't said, there is no fact that confirms he won't be released as DLC in future. So far, Ubisoft said that right now it isn't planned, one tweet later said that something is planned for 20th Anniversary, then they started doing Retro Throwbacks with mostly Nintendo references. Currently, more clues are pointing that DLC might be released on his 20th Birthday than that he will never be in game.
You can reply to this post what you want but I won't go into debates over this because I pretty much said everything I had to say and I will just wait for September

Re: Rayman Legends
Well, to be fair, when the Smashified "leak" appeared, there was more rage than happiness. You could easily see that in every forum, there was backlash and hate, and only 2 or 3 people were happy about his supposed inclusion.
Rayman's going through a really hard time with Nintendo fans right now. It's not Michel's fault, but Nintendo fans just don't care... They just see him as "the mascot of a greedy company that hates Nintendo".
It must be hard to be the face of Ubisoft right now...

Wait, I'm confused. Since when did we start talking about Megaman?sergiomonty wrote:Rayman's going through a really hard time with Nintendo fans right now. It's not Michel's fault, but Nintendo fans just don't care... They just see him as "the mascot of a greedy company that hates Nintendo".
Re: Rayman Legends
Ubisoft is very similar to Capcom. Also, Mega Man's creator left Capcom, Rayman's creator left Ubisoft.
Re: Rayman Legends
Wrong. Michel Ancel is still with Ubisoft, he has just made his own studio and is hard at work with WiLD.OldClassicGamer wrote:Ubisoft is very similar to Capcom. Also, Mega Man's creator left Capcom, Rayman's creator left Ubisoft.

Re: Rayman Legends
To be fair, Megaman is one of those franchises that are "too hurt to hate". Nintendo fans keep asking for him to be sold to Nintendo. Rayman doesn't happen to be in that place, since it's a healthy franchise in terms of quality and activity. That's the reason why Ninty fans don't care. Some of them are butthurt enough to not accept that 2d Rayman nowadays is way better than 2d Mario.Pirez wrote:Wait, I'm confused. Re: Rayman Legends
I've picked up and played R1-R3 many times, once you've viewed the story once, or twice, there's not much need to do it again, as you can skip cutscenes (Except for a few like the intro with Globox on the pirate ship on R2, but it's not that long.) It's no Final Fantasy where you're forced to always go through dialogue and such.Bradandez wrote:Just pick it up and play.
Ancel hasn't left Ubisoft just yet, but I'm pretty sure he would if given the opportunity. Kojima is leaving Konami now, so developers going indie now is nothing new. I highly encourage it. It surprises me we're rarely hearing people discuss WiLD, game looks pretty cool to me, another reason for me to nab a PS4 eventually.Oldclassicgamer wrote:Ubisoft is very similar to Capcom. Re: Rayman Legends
Yeah, but with Legends/Origins you just have to to pick it up once and just play. No other stuff is gonna get in the player's way.
