Watched it, pretty good indeed, though I was under the impression it was a three-parter...either way, neat set of eps.
Re: Game Grumps
Ghoul Grumps was awesome, although I expected Luigi's Mansion. And I totally called the Scream Train name.
Re: Game Grumps
Shame they didn't play it since it was totally fitting for the season. I did enjoy the Maniac Mansion playthrough though.

New DYKG was nice as well, had Yuriofwind as the commentator, who I'm also subscribed to on YouTube.

Re: Game Grumps
Bump. Since I've been watching these goofballs recently.
Anyone else here really miss Jon? I'm starting to have a huge distaste for Arin lately, spewing his feminazi on few episodes. He just isn't the same. I still love Danny though. It's funny because I know a lot of people that thought Jon was incredibly unfunny on Game Grumps but I totally disagree, I love Jon, but I actually am really disliking Arin lately. It honestly is just a massive buzzkill when I see them playing Mario 64 only to hear Arin try to critique the game. I'm hear just to listen to two guys chat about stuff but instead I'm getting a fucking abrasive review by Egoraptor while Danny is here trying to have a good time, really not fun to listen to. You can say "Man, Jon is better off of Game Grumps" all you want, but the channel is going downhill so fast.

The Jon era will always be superior. Jon always brought the laughs to Grumps. Sure they rarely finished games but at least they made me laugh.

They rarely finished any games actually.
But I fully agree with you. Danny's a great guy but I don't like how all he really does is agree with Arin on everything, while Jon actually questioned Arin's opinions.

Re: Game Grumps
I like some of the Danny/Arin episodes. For example, that Winnie the Pooh one had me almost crying from laughter. But over all it was a lot more interesting with Jon there; there was actual, legitimate discussion.

Re: Game Grumps
Same here, but my gripe with Danny though is that he kind of seems a bit like a robot you know? "Yes, Arin, I agree", never once will they reach any disagreement, where as Jon would question Arin's opinions. The fact Danny will agree with everything Arin says just kind of leads to boring conversation.Adsolution wrote:I like some of the Danny/Arin episodes
Here's a prime example of exactly that:
Though there have been some really good episodes. Danny and Ross go so well together on STEAM train. I watched the entire Kings Quest series and it was excellent.
Re: Game Grumps
Jon and Arin used to get at each other's throats at times and that's what made their relationship seem more natural. They would argue at times and not always agree.
The last time I had tears coming out of my eyes from laughter was the Disney Princess Adventure game. That shit was too funny with the psychologist joke from the first episode.

Yes I loved it, there was always discussion, debate, but overall they would always reach a conclusion and still laugh and have a good time. That is no more.Bradandez wrote:Jon and Arin used to get at each other's throats at times and that's what made their relationship seem more natural. They would argue at times and not always agree.
The same joke that made Arin put up a trigger warning on the video. I'm starting to think Arin is trying to cater to an audience that is doing more harm to him than good, just saying. Trying to cater to SJW's isn't going to get you far.Bradandez wrote:The last time I had tears coming out of my eyes from laughter was the Disney Princess Adventure game. Re: Game Grumps
I don't see what's so bad about those warnings. People write whole text walls about it but, really, it's just text going "hey here's a thing that might offend someone". Not that I think trigger warnings do much, but people act like it's a fucking insult to their comedy.
And in that aspect, I really am glad that in terms of fans, it's getting more lighthearted. While I really enjoyed Jon's rude humour and arguing, it brought (as i referred to in a joke from a little while back) a lot of dudes with huge superiority complexes and endless complaining about anything they can find. The type of person who complains about Tumblr so often that I've grown to find complaints about the site more annoying than the site itself. (Ex: A Dose of Buckley commenting on feminism, this immediately triggering a ton of "wow tumblr killed my parents and emotionally stabbed me" comments, then going to game grumps and finding the same thing because arin picked the m&m with eyelashes)
Personally, I've warmed up to Dan a lot. I think the Jon episodes were generally more solid, but imo Dan's the most interesting and amusing person that's been on the show, all without relying on excessive toilet humour or trying to cater to some specific group of people. As long as a series doesn't carry on too long (Pokemon grew real stale after episode 40) they can usually keep up the good commentary up, and I like the more relaxed, lighthearted feel of the show.

Re: Game Grumps
I get what you're saying. Look, I don't mind "warnings", often ever. "Trigger Warning" is nothing but a buzzword. It's the word itself that bugs me, I've seen plenty of warnings, EVERYWHERE, movies, games, etc. The rating shows all. But what Arin used was different, he used a simple buzzword to attract the wrong crowd. I do think some people overreacted to the warning. Any other word they could've used I would've been fine with, it's the very fact they had to use trigger warning when they could have used something else. It's very unlike Arin to put a trigger warning on his show (Remember he made an animation on newgrounds where sharks rape a girl, didn't see any triggers on that.) I've seen users like Mark and Pewdiepie do the same thing, except they didn't use that stupid word, they just gave a warning.
The problem isn't coming from the fact they're trying to help people (Which I'm sure that's there intention but that isn't my point)- I know Arin pretty well as an old frequent visitor from newgrounds, it's unlike him to do it. I'm not saying "SUZY made him do it", since it's clear that isn't the case, I'm saying the real problem here is Arin is trying to appeal to an audience that can cause him a lot of harm in the long run. A psychopath sjw messaged him asking if he was bi and when he answered "no", an outrage went out. You'd think by now Arin would know better. I'm trying to show a different side the whole why "trigger warnings" kind of need to stop being overused instead of freaking out about it. It's the word, not the warning itself.
I'm not saying nothing on GG is good anymore, hell, I'll come back every now and then and they still can provide pretty quality content. But here's why I liked Jon better: As said before, there was actual discussion. With Danny it's nothing but agreeing, there's no substance, no debate, just agreeing. I love Danny, super nice guy, Ninja Sex Party is hilarious, and some of Danny's stories have fucking killed me. Hell, Danny's stories are probably the best part of current GG, but when Danny and Arin get down to nitty gritty in the videogame they're playing, there's no legitimate discussion. It'll just loop back to stories about Danny's life or Arin's. Which I'm cool with, but I fear they go a little too off topic at times to the point where it doesn't even feel like they're playing a videogame.
Arin can feel free to put up warnings, but please don't resort to tumblr buzzwords, there's SO many more ways to warn your fans.
As for Arin himself, yeah, aside from the minor trigger warning, he himself hasn't been very nice. Not just with Dan, but even with Jon. Arin was a massive dick to Jon at times, for example, Jon stated he enjoyed Sonic Adventure and Arin flat out said to him that "No you don't like it", even though Jon specifically stated he did. Arin made it clear that Sonic Adventure is EXACTLY like Sonic 06. Arin is a cool guy sometimes but he knows jack shit about game design at times. His Zelda Sequelitis about Ocarina of Time where he was very abrasive was shit. His past sequelitis's though were good.
That's just one massive gripe I've had with Arin over the years. I love the guy sometimes but when he tries to talk to the viewers as if he's a dev in the game industry he needs to shutup, seriously.
Another gripe I have is that I think he really should steer clear of bringing in his political views, now he's rarely done this but he's made subtle jabs on his whole stance on feminism on 3D World, it wasn't funny, it was awkward, even Dan didn't know what to say. It ended up with Danny just saying "He didn't have an opinion." Clearly Arin is doing something wrong if not even Danny is acknowledging his statement.

This is still a huge thing in the comments section of GG, as far as I've seen this has got progressively worse, that's just how youtubers are unfortunately.Keane wrote:a lot of dudes with huge superiority complexes and endless complaining about anything they can find.
Re: Game Grumps
I can't disagree, considering how the site went from posting fanart, gifs, everything about Jon to completely shitting over him because he said "Retarded" on Twitter.Rayfist wrote:trigger warnings
The problem is that Dan holds the controller maybe once every 30 episodes, despite the fanbase constantly asking him to be the one playing more often. Inevitably he stops caring about the game when he neither plays it or knows anything about it, so it loses his attention after a while. He even pointed out that he pays no attention to the game for entire episodes sometimes, and while I'm all for their off-topic talk, the game is more or less there to give them something to discuss if they don't have anything else to say. Whenever Dan plays the show is almost always more interesting, especially in the rare occasion where the game is actually one he's familiar with. I can tell that with no nostalgia or anything for Mario 64, it's just kind of an obscure, badly aged game to him.Rayfist wrote:arin
As for Arin, I actually think he can make some really decent arguments but he's also kind of the person who would make a top 10 games list and place mario party over half-life because he just happens to like it more, but then wants to have a reason to justify it other than "i just like it" and that's how you get 30 minutes of "ocarina isn't as good because there's a cutscene before chests open." I think he's been more interesting lately though, and there was mention of Arin having recently gotten out of some stressful thing, think he posted about it on the reddit.
Eh, at least they offer cringy comedy. Especially when they attend your school.Rayfist wrote:This is still a huge thing in the comments section of GG, as far as I've seen this has got progressively worse, that's just how youtubers are unfortunately.
