Rulez wrote:Hang in there, buddy. I've been there recently. This guy pretending to be my friend, but in reality, manipulating me for a year and a half is the worst fucking son of a bitch I ever knew. There's literally nothing nice about him, and he's seriously the worst person I know. He's likely the only enemy of mine who's actually completely changed my viewpoint of people recently; people have noticed I've become suspiciously cold and bitter towards people who aren't my closest friends. Fake friends fucking suck.
The past three years of my life have been a considerable eye-opener and have helped me experience the world and its people for what they truly are. I have come to meet true, rotten-to-the-core assholes; people who are so obvious about it but are unavoidable and whose presence you're just gonna have to swallow sometimes. I've met backstabbers, false friends, people who betray you at your most vulnerable time. I've met friends who will run away with those you love. I've dealt with friends who I've just come to grow away from.

And I've met beauties. Truly, the loveliest people I know on this planet, I have met in these last few years. Real sweethearts, whose honey-clad heart show not even a sliver of ice (except t'wards their enemies!). I've encountered hurt souls, who fear the world and its people in case they may come to harm because of them, but who are deeply within so kind and so fragile - tender flowers. I've met friends who will stick with me through thick and thin, no matter what rain of burning ice may come crashing down upon us. And I've met people who, from the instant I met them, I knew will/would become some of my best friends.

False friends suck, guys. They do. And it hurts to deal with them. I know it does. But know that the same may go for them - the way you treat them, in some way, may have been hurtful and caused them to lash out in reaction. I've felt myself act this way sometimes also... it's not as one-sided as we all experience it. Remember this!
And maybe... give it time. With time, all wounds mend. There may be scars, but one of the good things about scars is the stories they make you tell to others! Keep your scars as experience for your next encounters in life. Their painful lessons will provide you wisdom that will last you a lifetime. If it don't work out now, make it work out next time, with new people.

That sounds like true words of wisdom. Thank you, Shroob. You maybe are right. As of right now, I can't imagine talking with them anymore. I dunnot wish that my life crosses theirs ever again. All I want know is that I forget them and live out my life.

Great insight, Shroob, you're right! Just one thing:

Obviously I do not know Emshomar's case too well, but in my case, that doesn't actually stand. I'm way too fucking nice to deserve someone treating me like shit, signing under my art, giving me no credit, borrowing money from me and never bringing it back, breaking my drumsticks and not buying them back, acting like a fucking childish centre-of-the-world piece of shit, talking behind my back in such a fucking obvious way, yet still being shocked when I know what he said and when, treating some of the teachers with no respect, and generally being a poopiehead.

My post was more inspired by yours than a direct reply to it - this was the nature of my quote.

But what you highlight indeed completely negates what I said; your quote unquote friend can go on a field trip to the moon. Without protective gear. Riding an oversized fireworks display.

I had many false friends during primary school. Sad days those were...
I think they are part of the reason why am I very socially akward today IRL.

I was pretty socially awkward in real life for a long period of time. But as I grew and started playing so many videogames there are a lot of people in my college with 3ds's who play often the same games as I, so it's pretty great, more open. In High School there weren't many "gamers" around.

Video games helped me a lot, but considering all of my friends who are into gaming live very far away, it didn't help me to become more sociable IRL (although I did online which is still something). You are lucky that you are from US since there are many gamers there. Finding gamers like you and other RPC members in country where I live is same as finding a needle in a haystack. People just don't game here in general. It's just part of the mentality of the whole nation. They prefer nightlife and parties in crowded places instead, which is something I am not a fan of.

I've just been thinking about my art. It's just always going to go unnoticed. Especially my original creations. It's been making me questioning my skill and I've been considering on not even trying anymore. No matter what I do, it's always ignored. It's as if I'm destined to just be a nobody.

Every unsuccessful Youtuber ever (myself included) knows that feeling, brah(d).

Also my brother has the same issues. He uses my Youtube channel to get recognized (he did the art in this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OuKRVPWgWg) and he hopes I will be a YT Star soon because he would have the opportunity to leave his job.

I know a lot of good artists who aren't at all really big when they should be, just keep trying to improve.

Upload your stuff to newgrounds as they give good critique. If you're looking for friendly critique on your art, stay the FUCK away from deviantart. :tssk:

By friendly critique you mean actual constructive critique and not just asskissing, like I did when I had critiques on?

What's the point. Even Newgrounds I go unnoticed. I've tried years ago and it ended like everything else. I've gotten a critique from dA and it wasn't so bad.

You gotta realise there's a lot of artists out there, Brad. A lot. You gotta be exceptional to get the attention of the big public. What's more, you've got to be lucky. People have to find you somehow and once you gain a mediocre amount of attention, your audience may grow. Or it won't - there's a lot of factors involved here, some of which lie are completely artificial but still are out of your influence entirely; the score Google rates your dA page in its results, the layout of deviantArt and whether or not it makes room for your picture and makes your picture appear attractive to click on in the context of the entire website or even whether your picture is visible on the front page at a certain time, the number of people that happen to be online and searching/browsing when you post your picture and it gets its default feature on the front page, etc.

But some things you can control to get noticed: tag well and tag properly, for one. Tags are more important than you think. And know where to post updates about your creative outlet. If you can find a popular place where posting a sneaky link or even a completely obvious one (and being honest about it being self-advertisement may even help you sometimes) can get you clicks, views and therefore maybe followers/commenters, you're sorted.

In the end, things just have to fall into place at exactly the right time in exactly the right way for you to get really super popular. But until then, just draw your art because you enjoy drawing it. As far as I'm concerned, I'd never draw because I want people to say how cool I am. Of course, I rather enjoy hearing people enjoy my work - but first and foremost, I create things because I like creating them and I share them because I do have some desire to share with the world my creations. I don't expect much from my sharing, but that one person who finds it and whose face I can put a smile on because of it is a victory for me.

Strange. I've been a Deviant for six years and I haven't met this scary comment section yet. All I've encountered were lovely comments. But I'm sure all places have their back alleys and slum neighbourhoods.

This.

I would also like to add that most of the time, you can have good critiques coming from your siblings. Show your work to your family or friends and ask them what they think about it. Some advices will probably be worthless content-wise, maybe because people don't want to hurt you or don't have an idea about how it could be improved, but, heh, this is how critiques work: you gotta take your own piece of cake from them. And sometimes, the slightest advice may happen to turn the tables about something you had been wtuck with for a bery long time.

Plus, it's always very rewarding to have somebody telling you a piece of art made their day brighter while it was not that great at all. It happens too, it's not a joke. ;)

I wasn't drunk, I simply didn't check my typos.
It's actually quite funny that it turned out like this. I didn't do it on purpose, I swear!

^ Calm down Satan.

@Brad it will take sometime before you get noticed. Try doing fan art of popular things like Gravity Falls and Minecraft.
