While I grew up with the PC version more due to it not only being one of the first DOS games I've ever played in my life, bu also the first I installed by myself as a kid), I'm going with the PS1 version because I was going shopping the one time (again when I was a kid) I went and bought Rayman 2 on PS1 and at the same time by coincidence, my Mom got me the original Rayman thinking I didn't get a Rayman game by the time, so now I owned both and I still own them to this day (albeit scratched to all heck xD)

I'm not sure if anyone's brought this up or not, but how cool would it be if Ubisoft issued a widescreen remaster for Rayman 1 (The same way Sega remastered Sonic CD) for Rayman's 20th anniversary? Imagine if they also included a revamped version of Rayman Designer, to compete with games like LittleBigPlanet and Mario Maker? Imagine if they also included leaderboards and ghosts for the challenge levels?

Day 1 buy from me.

I mean, we'd love it, but I think that after all the years and Ray's general popularity there's probably not enough of an audience to make it happen. Now a Mario Maker style game using UbiArt, that I could see being real interesting.

But hey, I think Ubi was hinting at something to celebrate the anniversary, and it's definitely in their nature to repackage old games.

It'd be cool if they created some sort of successor to Rayman Designer but for Rayman Legends.

Well, the plan was to make UbiArt open-source, but the higher-ups reneged on that. :pfff:

Has it been confirmed wither or not Ubi Art is gonna be open source in the future? I know that was the original plan but has Ubisoft said otherwise?

I plan on developing a game after I finish some college courses, and Ubi Art is the perfect engine for it.

I don't believe UbiArt will, I think there might have been official word on it, but I'd have to Google to make sure.

EDIT: Best I found was this 2013 article: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/arch ... lemot.aspx

Given that he'd stated that they might consider licensing then, and it's currently 2015 and nothing has come out of it, I'd not get my hopes up.

When I saw that "Isaac" was one of the most popular choices my mind went straight to The Binding of Isaac. Now there's an idea.

Isn't that who they meant?
(Sorry, are we talking about the Super Smash character roster or something else?)

Don't think the Smash stuff was being discussed in here, might have missed something though. I was discussing UbiArt with darkhair.

Flappy Bird remake based off Rayman 1

Post by kotkarl »

Hey guys, I'm new here. My favorite game of all time is Rayman 1 on the PSX.
I am currently studying computer science in Iceland, and we had to do a
copy of the annoying game Flappy Bird as a web programming project.
As a tribute to my favorite game, we made the Flappy Bird copy based on Rayman 1!
Have a go if you want: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/768 ... index.html
Hope you like it :)

That's awesome! I was really into Flappy Bird last year, so a Rayman version is just what I need. Thanks for sharing!

Hahaha amazing. The only thing I dislike about it is that the collision seems a bit unpredictable. But it's enjoyable nonetheless!

Welcome, kotkarl - enjoy yourself here. :D
