Well, of course it is! My point was that, since it's the track you hear at the start and end of every level, that's probably why it's so important from a nostalgia point of view. :P

Yes, but you mistook it for another track! You ruined everything!

Yes, you did! Glacier Paradise only plays ONCE in the ENTIRETY of Rayman Origins and has no other tracks that are based on that specific song.

Oh right, now I see the problem. Blame me for being too lazy to press videos then, at least on my phone. :boon:

My humblest apologies. :chinois:

My least favorite level in the main Rayman games would have to be one of the Murphy levels from Legends (I can't choose, but I only found fun with 2 of them). I really don't like how they're paced; on touch screens you have to wait for the computer to slowly play the level as you help them, and on controllers you have to play the game but stop in your tracks or awkwardly press the Murphy button while playing the game to let the level fix itself.

It sounded cool as a co-op function, but that's about it.

I have too agree on that but I still dislike the 8 bit levels in the legends version of the land of the livid dead more it's like bad hacking and generally annoying to look at I don't want to collect tons of teensies just for a ruined series of levels

Rayman 1: Eraser Plains, I just don't like it

Rayman 2: Whale Bay, I just think it's really boring

Rayman 3: Bog of Murk, I don't really hate this level because most of the levels are a lot of fun but it's my least favorite level.

Love those Rayman level discussions. :D

In a thread so long, I am sure almost every point has been raised multiple times, so I will just start quoting from the top and sharing my own thoughts.
Mine is the final boss from Rayman 2 (Not in the Playstation 1 port, I like that one) because everytime you die, you have to start all over again and you get killed by just 1 hit.
It is quite tricky, and you must be an expert in flying to stand a chance, but IMO, it is actually not as difficult / prolonged as some of the other final boss fights in the games. It only takes about 4-5 trips to the flame to finish Razorbeard off, and once you got the technique down, you actually have some margin for error in your flight. And of course if you know of the secret tunnel that allows you to get the infinite blue flame, it's even easier. 8)
Rayman 1 - Space Mama's Crater (Because it is the toughest of the whole game)
Probably true. In my first time through, I really hated all of Picture City, for the dreadful spikes everywhere, and the erasers that bounce you right into them. And add to that that Space Mama is the longest, most difficult boss fight, at the end of one of the most difficult worlds... Ugh. :x
Rayman 2 - Tomb of the Ancients (Especially in the PS1 version. I don't know why but I wonder if it is its dark atmosphere that makes me not enjoy the level at all)
I think I had similar feelings playing through this a few times. Wouldn't say I downright hated it, but it is very gloomy with all the spiders, webs, and zombie chickens (which can be quite annoying if you are trying to get all the lums/cages). Towards the end of the level there is a place where you are riding a floating platform towards a pirate, and as he starts hurling explosive kegs at you, the rhythmic pirate music starts playing. I vividly remember a curious feeling of relief getting to that part - like, "Thank God I'm out of that nightmare and back to the real world". :hehe:
Rayman Origins - Riding the Storm (Holy Bubble Dreamer, this level was a nightmare to get at least 350 Lums entirely alone)
I think it was in this level that I was closed to dying out of frustration trying to get the maximum score, when I figured out that I can actually shoot faster by tapping the fire key instead of holding it down. That's right - I played all the previous Moskito levels without knowing this basic thing, and never had a problem. This level is that much harder.
Rayman 2 - The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire - hard and very long.
Yes, it is. It is a step up from previous levels. I think it is also the only level that contains actual backtracking (unless you count the return to the Fairy Glade from the Echoing Caves).

Interestingly, the length is difficulty is what made this actually one of my favorite levels in the game. There is an immense sense of accomplishment when you are done, and I remember that as I completed the level for the first time, it dawned on me: If I could do that, then I will beat this game and nothing will stop me. You see, back in the day, Rayman 2 was the first 3D platformer I played, and one of the first games I could ever beat fair and square without any cheats. For me it was a stepping stone in becoming a player confident in his abilities to beat most games he plays.

Sanctuary of stone and fire!!
It literally took me 2 months to find out there was a cage on the roof :mefiant:
I missed it the first time I went through that section. You can hear the "Help!", but it is bloody tough to find. When I moved to the next section I was like "Darn! Now I'll have to play this level again!". Luckily, in the original game (not in Revolution), you go back through this section again. That time I was like - "OK, I am not giving up now! I will find this darn cage just so as not to replay this level!".

Naturally, I found the cage, and naturally, nowadays replaying this level does not sound all that scary.
I agree with the Longest Shortcut. Pretty boring world to play. But al least the world is short :)
Yep, it's not a very inspired one. Some of the platforming is particularly annoying because of the camera. But I always considered it basically as a "freebie" - a short world to chalk up on the way to completion. There is a challenge there, but as there are no monsters and basically no way to die - you don't feel "threatened" at any point and can just take it slow (no matter how fast you go, you'll still be too late to catch up with Reflux and Andre at the end of it. :mryellow:
I too like The Land Of The Livid Dead the most in Rayman 3, of all the worlds featured in the game, this just felt the most magical.
Yes, it did. It also has the sweetest ambient music, in several different songs which are basically remixes of the same basic tune. And I absolutely loved the uncharacteristic play on words - "livid" not being used as "furious", but instead as "bluish-gray", the color of the Griskins.
I actually loved The Land Of The Livid Dead, it was difficult, yes, but it felt like a proper final challenge.
That and the music was awesome.
Indeed. The best action tune in the game. And being the final, optional challenge, I feel the difficulty was quite appropriate. It's quite high, but the levels are quite short (the longer sections 2 and 4 have checkpoints), so in the end it's not quite as frustrating as it could have been.

So I'm not the only one!

Hmm, I replayed What The Duck on a whim last night, I found it somewhat frustrating (but that's probably because I was a bit hurried). I think it merits more than two skulls.

That's one of the most fun levels of the game in my opinion.

I think Iron Mountains is easily one of my favorite levels in R2, if not my favorite, just holy shit so much action in one level... oh we're discussing levels we hate in Rayman games?

Uh... probably the over abundance of Bzzit levels in Origins. I don't mind the first few but they REALLY went overboard with it.

Always thought the Cave of Bad Dreams was a dull and boring level. Or the rocket ride section within the hidden temple from Sanctuary Of Stone & Fire in R2, but otherwise I kinda like that level.
Also that 8bit song in Rayman Legends was a pain in the arse.

I have a love/hate relationship with Cave of Bad Dreams. I love how distinctly different it is from the other levels, the pink looks really interesting, kind of a bit R1-ish a tad if it weren't for the skulls and creepy shit. The whole segment where you need to carry those two marbles through those moving stone platforms was honestly annoying.

Master wrote:However, keyboard or controller, nothing matches Invaded Infiltration Station, I've never beaten it solo.
I just did it today. It took me probably a couple of hundred retries over 3 days to get below 40 seconds. Nothing in this level was intuitive, so it took countless retries to figure out the precise optimal order of operations in each of the 4 sections (last one was the trickiest), and with Dark Rayman on your heels, you can't quite take the time to think!

Even though I am not completely through the game at this point (still have lots of Back to Origins levels, and the 8-bit music levels), I doubt anything will match this one in terms of frustration. Following it, at a respectable distance, is Quicksand Invaded, then at a huge margin, the rest of them. :)

On Rayman 1, even though i enjoy most of the levels, there's one in particular that often drains alot of the lives I built up and drives me nuts, and that is the part of Eat At Joe's with the beach balls in the open water, with those gat damn evil fish that pounce out at you midway through the level, and timing your jumps just right to avoid them can be quite tough.
