Re: What games are you currently playing?
Does anyone have a big problem similar to me where they just have too many games to play? I'm still playing through so many titles it's fucking ridiculous. Not to mention there's many games in my backlog in which I haven't even STARTED yet!
>Final Fantasy VII
>Final Fantasy X
>Yoshi's New Island
>Xenoblade Chronicles 3D
>Metal Gear Solid 4 (Haven't even started yet!)
>Bioshock trilogy (haven't started any of them)
>Far Cry 3
>Far Cry 1,2, and Blood Dragon (haven't started)
>Resident Evil Revelations (beat the game on 3DS, but now I have PC version)
>Bayonetta 1 Wii U version (Haven't started)
>Smash 4 Wii U challenges (beat them all on 3ds)
>Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes (I've reached the final boss though so I'm insanely close)
>Valkyria Chronicles
>Killer is Dead
>L.A. Noire
>Shantae (STEAM)
I have way too much of a good thing...

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Lol yeah, I'm currently working through my own list actually. I always manage to just not play games for years while I still loyally replay all of the rayman and half-life games every year.
I think hype tends to blind you from realising that even though you're glad the game is out, you're not necessarily in the mood to play it. As in, just because the long awaited big new Zelda title is here, doesn't mean you feel like dedicating hours of my time to a game that requires your full attention and skill. Especially around the time of the year when all the E3 announcements get their releases, I almost always find it a good idea to invest only in the mario kart/smash bros type games, and wait for a price drop for something more story based.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Huh, I have a list too.
- Mario Kart 8 because of the DLC coming tomorrow.
- Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS because I need to influence Sakurai into putting Rayman in.
- Yoshi's New Island because it was my free game, but it's really pissing me off.
- Donkey Kong Land because I finally made it to World 2.
- Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze because it's one of the best Wii U games.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Of course! I was recently replaying Rayman 2 but stopped midway to get back onto the games of mine that need finishing. It's a great game that just never gets boring. As for Half-Life I've only played the Black Mesa mod, which was impressive on its own. I do plan to buy the non-steam versions of Half-life with all it's DLC as I am a collector. :pKeane wrote:I still loyally replay all of the rayman and half-life games every year.
You hit the nail in the head right here, this is very true. I remember putting so many hours into Smash on 3DS, having a blast knowing that I could play Smash on the go, and eventually, the Wii U version came out... played it for a good 2 hours, and just ignored it for 2-3 days. Why though? I loved the 3DS version but it took a near week for me to board onto the Wii U version after that version was released. There are few acceptions though, when Majora's Mask 3D came out I managed to 100% it within a week and it was such an awesome experience.Keane wrote:I think hype tends to blind you from realising that even though you're glad the game is out, you're not necessarily in the mood to play it.
Indeed, I'm really thinking of skipping Xenoblade Chronicles X, but possibly keeping my Splatoon pre-order, as Splatoon is more pick up and play. Though I probably do think Xenoblade is far better I'm not ready to invest in yet another huge story title game, then again we don't have a release date on that yet. And Xenoblade 3D itself will take me a lot of time to play through, I hear the game is insanely long.Keane wrote: I almost always find it a good idea to invest only in the mario kart/smash bros type games, and wait for a price drop for something more story based.
And on the other hand I also am REALLY struggling on whether I should keep my Splatoon pre-order or not and spend it on more ram (4gb isn't doing me so good), but then again Splatoon does look fun. Hng, money issues. The big problem here though is that Nintendo games NEVER drop in price anymore, they always increase and it sucks. Just look at a good chunk of the Gamecube library, it's scary how expensive some of these games are now.
I got New Island as well and I'm surprisingly not enjoying it much.Bradandez wrote:Yoshi's New Island because it was my free game, but it's really pissing me off.
Oh? That's tomorrow? I have that whole thing on pre-order so I guess I'll try it out.Bradandez wrote:Mario Kart 8 because of the DLC coming tomorrow.
(Of course it's on a fucking day where I'm in community college, thanks Nintendo)
Re: What games are you currently playing?
I'm currently playing Rayman 3 again, in the hopes that I make a decent score this time (because the long shortcut is my nemesis), and a bit of Pokémon Snap in between.

Been alternating between Old School RS and Legends, I'm still stuck with Infiltration Station - Invaded, figures it'd be the last thing I'd need before I'd have all Teensies.
Re: What games are you currently playing?

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Since last December I've been working on this, but... I've finally completed Final Fantasy VII, and damn what a trip it was. While I do agree that it's definitely not even the best RPG of all time like people make it out to be, I legitimately had an awesome time, I'm kind of upset I chose the steam version over PS1, but I might get it for PS1 someday as well. While the models are unquestionably dated, the hand drawn backgrounds are all really lovely and lush, the battle system, while a little complex compared to the likes of Earthbound with all the materia and what not, was very well done. They put a lot of effort into the models in the battle segments, sadly this didn't translate into the overworld at all.
I definitely have to give the game an 8.5/10. People have told me that the story for FFVII was kind of complex but the whole way through I understood what was going on. I really liked the themes of it too. My only problem is I think the game ended on a rather subtle note, it was an otherwise odd ending. Anyone getting into the RPG genre should play this, just be warned, if you're like me, you'll end up putting a lot of time into the game, with college and such in the way it took me a good few months to finally conquer this, but I managed to finally do it, and it was an awesome experience.

Nice.
I’m not even close to the fourth disc of FF8.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
I take it FF8 is a lot longer then.
RPG's are really time consuming... while playing and finishing up FF7, what felt like only an hour was actually 3-4 hours, and it was 1:00 A.M. in the morning already for me. This is why RPG's are so time consuming for me...

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Please do so, the music is so much better on PS1. They totally butchered it with the unfinished MIDI files on PC.Rayfist wrote:Since last December I've been working on this, but... While you're at it, pick up Final Fantasy IX. You won't regret it. It is the best RPG I've played IMO.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Didn't they fix the midi files on the STEAM port of FF7 and 8? I was told FF7 on PC had awful midi music but this was fixed in the steam port.
Re: What games are you currently playing?
Hmm, apparently they improved it a bit, but it's still way different from the original:
Steam
Original (PS1)
And that's only the victory fanfare. Every single track sounds different like that...
EDIT -> It seems the PS1 music was patched in after that example video was made. Great to hear that Square Enix is listening!

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Actually the video you showed for steam version is incorrect, because they updated and fixed all the awful midi tracks! I get the normal PS1 version tracks through steam
(I can even record it for you if you want)
But wow... that midi version on the pc/early steam version is awful.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
I have the original 1997 (?) PC version of FF7 (4 discs) and it doesn’t have the PlayStation music.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
I've been playing The Wolf Among Us with Ad over Skype, and I was finally given the option to choose the fate of one of the annoying thugs that was constantly on my ass, threatening to murder my friends unless I complied with their demands.
As someone that generally tries to be more merciful in these sorts of games, my finger went to the "Kill him" option almost the frame it came on screen.

Again, the updated steam version fixed all of this, and it has the normal PS1 tracks now.Fifo wrote:I have the original 1997 (?) PC version of FF7 (4 discs) and it doesn’t have the PlayStation music.
