My dear Keane.
Flawed =/= Bad.
I love Rayman 1. In fact, I love it even more than Rayman 3.

Re: Rayman Legends
I can understand what Sergio is saying, I think there are WAY worse though. Crash Bandicoot had a massive bullshit moment in the level 'road to nowhere' where there are literally invisible platforms you need to traverse for 100%. At least Rayman has some indication to it's invisible cloud platforms, like tings. This level in Crash was literally, again, LITERALLY, a leap of faith.
Rayman 1 is by no means a masterpiece though, but I still love it, it holds a special place in my heart. I will say it's art is flawless though.

Re: Rayman Legends
To be entirely honest someone just send that gif to me and I just wanted an excuse to use it. Brad should have said it or something.
Still though, Rayman 1 gets a lot of shit for its age. I don't know, I tend to feel like its true but whenever I play through it again I never feel that way. (Well, except for the atrocious cage locations) Really as far as age goes, I can only really feel that way in a sense of "a modern platformer probably wouldn't have done the slides in band land, but then again there weren't any other games doing it back then either"

Re: Rayman Legends
It's not as bad as Brad makes it out to be when there are far more games out there with these faults. I think design wise it looks fine. Yeah you can complain about it's "leap of faiths" but there's at least indication of those leaps.

Re: Rayman Legends
Well, no, as that's an unintended route. And I can't think of anywhere else in the game where that's bound to happen, unless you're DarksydePhil.sergiomonty wrote:At 0:15 you must jump to your death
Re: Rayman Legends
I don't have to say a one dang word. What's been said has been said. Rayman 1 is flawed without a doubt and if it were released today in this day and age, people would certainly take notice.

Re: Rayman Legends
Except in this day and age, even non Rayman fans admit the first one has held up very well. You and Sergio are literally the only ones I've ever heard this from because you detest the fact it's the most liked here (You especially Brad, since you also said the exact same thing about R2.) You guys are literally the only I've heard this from, I've talked to a lot of non-rayman fans and newcomers to the series and I haven't heard once any of their deaths in R1 was due to their fault, unless you're fucking DSP.Bradandez wrote:I don't have to say a one dang word. Honestly I can play through it again and the design still looks fairly 'modern' to me, and I disagree with Sergio on those "Leaps of faiths" because there are fucking tings implying there's something there. I was on a thread on 4chan recently where newcomers were being introduced to the series and all they had to say was "Rayman 1 was hard." If a website as shitty as 4chan even admits there deaths in R1 are there fault, then I don't think age plays a factor here.

Because Earthworm Jim is so bad since you can't shoot in the air?Bradandez wrote:I don't have to say a one dang word. What's been said has been said. Rayman 1 is flawed without a doubt and if it were released today in this day and age, people would certainly take notice.
Re: Rayman Legends
@Rayfist I really doubt that. I can believe that people sell copies of Earthbound for $10, but all of the deaths in Rayman 1 are not the game's fault is where I draw the line of bullshit. I don't detest Rayman 1 because it's popular, I detest it because it's a very flawed game and you guys always back it up and justify saying "oh that's how it was designed". It's total bullshit.

(Sorry, I've been busy this past week also I forgot how to do it.)
Where the fuck did you get that from? Earthworm Jim was designed to not shoot in the air because it was never needed. EJW is a better game in terms of gameplay because it's level design is coherent with Earthworm Jim's abilities. There was never an enemy in the air that required me to shoot at them.technology4617 wrote:Because Earthworm Jim is so bad since you can't shoot in the air?

Re: Rayman Legends
Well, a friend of mine just went to a garage sale and picked up a lot of rare SEGA CD games for $10 a pop, so yeah. People are stupid, people don't know the worth of some things. Go visit some garage sales down there during the nice cool summer. Or come down to some of the flea markets in Massachusetts, you may not find Earthbound but you'll find some really good deals. You just look! That's all there is to it.Brandandez wrote:Rayfist I really doubt that. I can believe that people sell copies of Earthbound for $10
I've said it before, there are literally tings showing there is something there. Not once have there actually been legitimate leap of faiths onto another platform without there being some form of item in the air, either tings or those small sparkles.Bradandez wrote: but all of the deaths in Rayman 1 are not the game's fault is where I draw the line of bullshit. In essence, "that's how it was designed?" Exactly; I was comparing your argument to the "age complaints" about Earthworm Jim HD when it came out, which also centered around people not being able to distinguish flaws from designed constraints.Bradandez wrote:Where the fuck did you get that from? I speedrun both games and I consider both games' levels to be about equally coherent with their mechanics, possibly giving a slight edge to Rayman due to the lack of gimmicky stages.Bradandez wrote:EJW is a better game in terms of gameplay because it's level design is coherent with Earthworm Jim's abilities.

I tell you, that I have no idea. xDOldClassicGamer wrote:Are you sure that is from Steam version?
I've only played the original DC release, plus the GC and PC versions of SADX.
The GC version is the best version, imo.

Re: Rayman Legends
I must admit, that I was never able to get the Steam version itself up and running, so I said "Fuck it!", deleted the files manually and installed the original PC release's files to it's place and played that one instead (as well as various different games) under the name "Sonic Adventure DX", which explains my playtime, lol.

i have ps4 wersion now . and it is better than ps3 version
. better graphical , sound and music quality . better costumes ( assasin ray and funky ray ) and other better things .
Re: Rayman Legends
I believe it was said before that the PS4 game had barely to no graphical difference with the PS3 title.
