Rayman, Globox and the Magicians ages

Post by Rayinator »

It says on www.rayman.wikia.com that Rayman is 14, Globox is 34 and the Magician is 62, is that their actual ages or is it fake information?

I thought they were over 100 since Legends takes place 100 years after Origins.

This is definitely false information.

Let's calculate this. Since 100 years passed between Origins and Legends in the Glade of Dreams and only 21.5 months (approx.) on Earth, that means time in the Glade flows 55.8 times faster than on Earth.
Now let's figure out how much time has passed between the first game and this day. it's been 19 years since the first game came out - almost 20 now. More precisely, that's about 238.5 months. So in Glade time, 13311.6 months or 1109.3 years have passed between the first game and this day.
If we are to believe the scrapped Jimmy/Hereitscool plot, Rayman was 11 years old in the first game. That makes him 1120 years old (Glade time). So yes, that information on the Rayman wikia is obviously fake.

In all seriousness, Rayman and friends are as young or old as you want them to be. Don't start digging for age information: the creators most likely never even thought about it themselves, so why should you? ;)

More than a century old, I'm guessing.

I always felt that the Magician was older than Rayman, let alone Globox.

Which brings in a more inportant question?

Who Cares?

I love it when people bring up the "age" topic like it should matter for characters such as Rayman, Sonic, Mario or Donald Duck, fictional people with no actual or very barebones overall continuity for this to matter. I mean, if this would be Star Wars, I probably would care, but if the listed franchises themselves are not caring about building an exact timeline when why should I/we?

@SpyroGuy
Sonic was 20 in Generations and that was confirmed. but it is unclear for later games how much time passed.
As for most fictional characters, age does not matter I agree

@OCG

The game was meant to celebrate the franchise itself, not Sonic's own personal age. As of me I'm getting really tired of Sega/Sonic Team feeling some kind of sick urge to celebrate every fifth year of Sonic: OHMERGAWWDD IT'S THE ANNIVERSARY AGAIN! Must. Celebrate. Stuff. They focused on celebrating stuff more in the past 5 years than creating actual creative content worth celebrating in the first place. xD

Well, Sonic did have surprise party at the beginning :P

And yes, I agree. Sega should focus instead on quality games than on celebrating bad ones :lol:

There is no official information about the age of the characters so that information is purely invented.

As a side note I really liked your maths, Droolie. It was an interesting read. :)
